I bought a used car from this dealership under the impression that it had no major accident history. Recently, I discovered the bumper had been poorly repaired and was held on with GLUE and another part held on with ZIPTIES -- something that should have never passed a proper inspection, especially from a dealer claiming to perform a 120-point inspection on every vehicle. When I brought this to their attention, they shrugged it off as something "normal" for used cars and offered a trade-in that would've left me fully responsible for the negative equity -- as if that somehow resolved the issue. At no point did they take real accountability for the damage or the way the car was misrepresented at the time of sale. This was a disappointing and frustrating experience, and I would caution anyone buying from here to have the vehicle thoroughly inspected by a trusted third party before signing anything. read more

This is chapter 3 of a car buying Goldilocks story and this three star dealership turned out to be not just A-OK, but in our case, just right. So the first dealership, in Greenfield, was too slimy. After soapy showers and reassessment of our set-price discount, the second place (Boucher) was just too insulting. But this third place turned out to be just right. Now, we did hedge our bets, we came in 45 minutes before closing the last week of the month with a set-price discount so no bartering was allowable or needed, but to their credit here, they recognized this and admitted it right away. There were only a couple of tack on fees that although we shouldn't have had to pay for them, the net price still came out below what we would have paid at either of the first two places. They also offered a tad more on the trade in than the written offer from CarMax. They matched the finance rate from our credit union without pressure. They did not try to talk us out of the new 2020 Tucson that had been sitting on their lot for a year because they had 2021s, but rather gave us a choice of 2020 Tuscons. This made us realize that they Boucher people could have actually called this dealer to replace the car promised to us that they sold out from under us. All the workers are very young and of course feeling invulnerable so they aren't very serious about COVID19 precautions but this may not be an issue when you're considering buying a car. You won't be able to get out of the strange "passive security system" fee because they etched it into the glass (interesting tactic). One annoying overpriced option will be onboard (maybe a $200 first aid kit, or a $175 cargo netting) on any of the previous year's new cars but given the offset of having slightly better net pricing than the two Milwaukee dealerships, this is still the better choice. If you're checking out all the YELP reviews for all the Hyundai dealerships in the area you've already figured out that within a about a half hour's drive from Milwaukee there are more than three choices. You're also realizing like I did that none of them get especially good or even consistent reviews (have to really wonder about the 5 star reviews of CAR DEALERSHIPS right?). You've also done the research and realized Hyundais are very good deals to start out with. The professor-spouse was trading in a two year old Hyundai Sonata that was really a great car, and so we were also in a stronger bargaining position as we did not need a new car at all. But I do think 3 the magic number (and the accurate number of stars). It's possible that if you go to any three Hyundai dealerships by the third one (whichever it is) and end up going in in the last 45 minutes in the last week of the month when the new next year models are in, that third dealership will be more ready to seal the deal than any random first and second places. It's an empirical question I do not have the money, time, or mental energy to try out. So, gentle readers, the first dealership was too slow (see the Greenfield Hyundai review for chapter 1). The second dealership (Boucher, chapter 2) was too fast. They were both insulting and sleazy. The third dealership (this one) turned out to be just right. I purchased a used car from Ziegler Hyundai of Racine in October. It is a 2019 Santa Fe XL. I purchased the CPO (certified pre owned) because I felt safer that it was inspected and then had a longer warranty. The Saturday after I purchased the car my good friend went to look at the engine and popped the cover only to discover that there was a full mouse nest with a dead mouse right on top. The nest was HUGE and must have taken a long time to build. I called the dealership and they offered their apologies and asked me to bring the car up there to make it right. (For those of you who don't know, Racine is a long way from my house, about an hour and 20 minutes each way) I inspected the car to see if I could find any other damage and I noticed the oil was dirty, the fluids were low and the filters were dirty. I packed up the kids and went up there to let Adrian (the manager I spoke to) make it right. I was met by my sales rep who took the keys and pulled it into service where I walked right in to find the service tech and Colin (my sales rep) talking about how they could just slap a new engine cover on and clean out the mouse and I could leave, even though the manager I spoke with said he would personally oversee the full inspection. I asked to see the manager and Colin boldfaced lied to me that he wasn't there (which the finance woman 2 minutes later told me was untrue). The manager was not apologetic, sympathetic or respectful. I asked for a full inspection and a more comprehensive warranty and he just kept saying that there would be nothing wrong with the car and "we are a dealership in a field in Wisconsin this happens all the time". I left with empty promises and a loaner car. To shorten up the rest of the long story, I got my car back (an employee drove it out to me), it was not inspected (aside from an electrical conduction test) or warrantied and the manager would not return my calls. I then called corporate and after weeks of calls and emails back and forth, their verdict was that they do not have any control over dealerships and I should contact the better business bureau (what?!?) Then all the calls and paperwork to the better business bureau also ended with that it wasn't their jurisdiction. So now the paperwork has been submitted to the Wisconsin department of transportation as a claim against a dealership. So, I was ripped off $1500 for the CPO, lied to, pushed aside and I am driving what I feel like is a ticking timebomb. When you buy a car, do not trust that a dealership did as they said, make sure to pop the engine cover, pull the dipstick and check the fluids because no one will make it right and there is no accountability for dealerships. Racine Hyundai - Exhibit A: mouse nest and dead mouse - Car Dealers Near Me - Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin

After three strikes you're out! After 5 years of oil changes this dealership switched by car from Semi-Synthetic oil to Full Synthetic oil which comes at a much higher cost and they did so without discussing the change in oil type with me first where approval to switch was requested. After discovering this change I spoke with the service manager Ed and explained what happened. During our chat Ed stated to me Synthetic is a better oil and the he could not refund the difference in the cost of Semi-Synthetic oil as compared to the higher cost Synthetic oil even though the dealer DID NOT GET AUTHORIZATION TO CHANGE FROM WHAT MY CAR HAS ALWAYS USED AT Zeigler Hyundai. The service manager instead of correcting the issue told me to make sure they are using Semi-Synthetic oil when booking by asking. Who asks this question when over 5 years the dealer has put the correct Semi-synthetic oil in and without question??? This dealership should never make a change like this in the maintenance of a customers car without requesting permission first especially when all past service record show a different oil was used. If the dealer would like to remedy the situation, they may contact me and until then I am lodging a complaint with Hyundai Corporate, Better Business Bureau and Zeigler Corporate. One last note this dealership completely destroyed the roof liner in by car when fixing the panoramic sunroof. The ceiling panel was sliced open with razor blade or knife or other sharp tool and after the repair the service manager Ed stated to me "come on its just a roof panel", "you are over reacting" and "who cares no one will see the damage", "we will do whatever repair you need". The issue here is the repair tech was completely careless in doing his repairs and the service manager treated this like an insignificant issue especially after I asked the tech to wear gloves and to not cause any new issues. In addition to cutting open the roof liner on two separate occasions the technician left oily fingerprints all over the roof liner inside the car because he did not wear gloves. A complaint was lodged with Hyundai Corporate regarding this dealerships service dept. Customers beware you are getting Careless service work and bad customer service at Zeigler Hyundai. Anyone with questions I will be happy to answer them. Moments after submitting this review, the general manager of the dealership called where he assured he would follow up within the hour with a solution on the oil change and then he never called back as promised. Seemed like a brush off. This dealership does not have any customer service skills whatsoever, and they appear to be entirely profit driven even if it means screwing over the customer. On a completely different note, the sales department at this dealership sold me an suv that they claimed had a 3500 pound towing capacity and then after the return period on the vehicle, I discovered that it could only haul 2000 pounds. When this was brought to the dealerships attention, they We're not willing to do anything to remedy the problem even though their sales guy provided me bad information. Instead of doing the right thing, they offered to sell me another car at the same price anybody else would pay that walk through the doors as a new customer instead of doing something to get me in a car that actually tows the weight that I needed and that the salesman told me my car could handle. Went to Zeigler to buy a new Santa Fe cash sale. After a couple hours we came to a price that was acceptable. During closing on the vehicle I was told they needed my SS number. I told them I have never had to submit an SS number to buy a car with cash. They insisted it was required. I called another new car dealer I'm familiar with and was told that the SS number was absolutely was NOT REQUIRED. Needless to say, didn't buy a car there. Will be going to another dealer that won't lie to me trying to access my SS number. This was not the sales person's fault. Was lied to by the finance people. read more

If you read any of these reviews... read this one. This TRUE story will not disappoint. Before I start... I want to say, as another reviewer has, everyone here that we spoke to at this dealership was super nice... but that only goes so far. So we found a 2017 Chevy Cruz here for sale. We live almost an hour away and called to make an appointment to see it last night. We did and they knew we were coming in. When we got there around 7:15 we were greeted at the door by a manger and then our salesman AJ. They pointed us to AJ's desk we sat down and they took our normal information, and a copy of our driver license, as is standard. They told us they would sanitize the car due to Covid, and have it ready in a few minutes. After about 10 minutes they asked us which Cruze it was cause they have two, we told them the red hatchback, which we told them not only when we came in but asked if it was still there when we made the appointment. Well, about 20 minutes in they informed us they could not find the keys... um ok. After us sitting there for 35 minutes they informed us they had found the keys! Yay! But... they then informed us that the car had no gas and they will have to go fill it up. Fine. So we waited... and watched the cute Doberman puppy one of the employees had there. Well, I don't know where he went to get gas, but an hour after we got there, 25 minutes after they told us they had to get gas, AJ had pulled the car to the side of the building! Finally! And... that's when things got crazy. As soon as we walked outside you could smell gasoline. My husband and I were wearing N95 masks due to Covid and you could smell it through our masks! AJ had the car running and opened all the doors and the back we started looking at the car and I sat in the driver seat... but the gas smell was overwhelming. My husband popped the hood and we proceeded to unlatch it. We could not find the latch... at that moment my husband asked AJ "Can't you smell the gas?" And he responded that he just filled the car with a gas can. I walked to the back and noticed where he spilled the gas down the car when he was filling it... maybe that was where the smell was coming from? Finally we got the hood unlatched, but before AJ raised the hood I seen a huge pool of liquid on the ground coming from the front of the car... when they lifted the hood my husband looked down at the motor and gasoline was flowing out of the motor... NOT leaking... but flowing out. He told AJ there is gasoline pouring out of the motor everywhere. At this time, the car was still running! I told my husband to back up... I was afraid it was going to catch on fire or possibly blow up! It's fair to say we were done. Just wanted to leave at this point. My husband told AJ he does not want to talk to the managers... we were both upset at this point and just wanted to leave. AJ went inside to get his card as we were leaving... while the car was still running with about 2 -3 gallons of gas on the ground and all in the motor. We took his card by our truck and left. We go through many vehicles, and have purchased a lot in the past 20 years. Never, have we had an experienced anything like this. If we just went for a test drive instead of checking it out first, the car WOULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE on us! Or, we were climbing in and out of the car... we are so lucky we did not get a spark of some static electricity... or we would have had a huge fire everywhere. We are all lucky no one got hurt, there was that much gasoline on the ground and pouring out of the motor. I feel sorry for AJ. He was a really nice salesman... but the team around him was totally incompetent. First by not having the car ready when we got there, then not finding the keys, then not having the gas in the car, then not going over the care for safety before they try to sell it. Needless to say... we will not be purchasing anything from Racine Hyundai. This was going to to be a car for our daughter and I have to have trust that the dealership looked it over so it's at least safe to drive of the lot. I don't have any trust in this dealership. I just hope we don't get hassled now they have our email and phone numbers. read more

Everyone I worked with was friendly, but that only gets you so far. They really have no business advertising on third-party websites because the advertised price will look reasonable, but then there are over-the-top mandatory fees and add-ons that make that price skyrocket to above market value. Any dealership customer expects about a $300 service, but then Racine Hyundai has mandatory upholstery warranty, anti-theft feature, etc. that pushes the price far higher than you were expecting when you walked in the door. For me, those extra fees made it more than $1,500 higher than the advertised price for the vehicle. The price of the vehicle is also shown as an astronomical number for the MSRP and then the alleged "discount" the customer is getting brings it down to the range it was advertised at. This is likely so they are able to get away with all the extra mandatory fees/add-ons since most banks will not allow loan money to go towards an amount that makes the loan payment exceed 110% of the MSRP. If they make the MSRP super high, they are able to have the customer's loan money to cover those add-ons without the bank being able to say anything about it. Between the way they present the price, the fees, and the add-ons, there are many lines presented in the cost summary. I expressed surprise at how high the cost was and was then told that those are merely all mandatory fees and that this was all pretty standard. I probably should have walked away at that point but I already expressed that I would like to purchase the vehicle and I am an amiable person apparently to my own detriment. I was not offered any time to evaluate everything on the paperwork for myself and was pretty rushed through signing everything. Even though I was left on my own to wait for long periods of time, the paperwork or copies of it were never left with me. It took me till after I got home and reviewed the paperwork that I realize the game that was played and how the dealership took advantage of me. Again, I probably should have walked away earlier, but I still feel like the above practices are borderline unethical. Either way, the advertised price you see is not what you will get. I did complain about the above to one of the managers after I realized what happened and was basically told (nicely) that it was my fault because I signed the paperwork and it is important to read everything, even though I told him I was rushed through the paperwork and not offered time to look anything over on my own. COVID-19 Extra: Almost no employees were using any COVID-19 precautions. A couple employees had masks on but they were under their chins. There was no social distancing. There was hand shaking. Essentially, they were acting as if we were not experiencing a pandemic even though it was late June 2020 and the seriousness of it had dawned on most people. read more

We were to compare a couple vehicles, look at options and make an informed decision. Not competitive...MSRP sticker is NOT your final price...they add various options regardless of whether you want them or not

As many of the reviewers have mentioned earlier, they post a very aggressive price for "some" cars that attract people. However, when you get there they add hidden fees to make up for lower pricing. Don't mistake I am NOT talking about title, tax and documentation fees which is to be expected . Even with these standard items, they quote or show very high numbers initially and then they reduce that to accurate tax and title fee in the name of discount. They don't give you the breakup of the fees and tax that you won't know it. If you are persistent to have a detailed breakup, then they will give the sheet with non-standard fees and how it adds 2500$ to the list price. Then they would discount some amount from that as offer to have you sign that moment. So if you are ignorant you would be signing up thinking that you are getting a stellar deal. In my case the sale price on the website was $14990, but what they finally quoted when I went there was $17500 by adding various dealer fees (THIS DID NOT STILL INLCUDE ANY SALES TAX, title & Registration). So the real sale price is $17500 and NOT $14900. They are just trying to get people come in by showing such low price. Dealers charge service fee or documentation fee of from 100$-300$ but still this was a big difference of over 2000$ in just fees. You should never have to pay like 15% additional in fees In used car, your total cost should be = Final Sale price + dealer fees+ state title and registration fees + sales tax If you do a trade in tax is calculated on Final Sales Price+Dealer Fees- tradein. Dealer fee could be 100$ to 300$. Most of the dealers charge about 200$. I am taking time to write this detailed review so that people who go to such dealership know what they should be getting charged. You could lookup these information online in various websites too and don't have to just go by what I say. I think there needs some regulations for transparent pricing and straightforward fees and taxes display in Car business. It's often becoming really frustrating to do business with such dealerships. read more

Do not buy a car from here!! Please don't. They lower the prices on the cars to make you think you are getting a deal but then they add fees that will cost you. A $400 dealership fee, mandatory $500 lojack fee, and then tried to add a $3000 cosmetic warranty fee. On the way home after buying the car, there was a rotational noise. Took it to Tires Plus. The alignment was way off and bearings were going. I wanted them to take it back but they said I was S.O.L. They don't stand by their vehicles and they lie about what you are signing in the contracts. read more

We went to a couple dealerships before this and none of them had exceptional service like I've experienced at Ziegler Hyundai! We worked with Myles he greeted us as soon as we parked asked what we were looking for we came with two cars in mind that we saw online, he pulled both cars up, I asked if he had a car with a few other features I wanted. He let us test drive the Santa Fe while he checked inventory, when we got back from the test drive we were about to walk inside and Myles honked the horn and he was pulling up with the car of my dreams! I fell in love with but had him run numbers on both cars , during that whole process he was extremely patient and respectful even though I had him running back and forth all the while he was working with us and another couple . We ended up making the decision 10 mins to close and he never rushed us. He ensured we were able to close up and take our car that night! He made sure the car got cleaned out and tank filled and it was an extremely easy process. The guy who closed our paperwork was hilarious I didn't catch his name maybe Joan? He was going home to some authentic Mexican food! We had trouble with the bank who pre-approved us, Hyundai was getting the wrong rate on Thier paperwork , I provided them with my documents and they were able to figure it out and got me the correct rate , we left about 10:30pm we were never rushed and they made sure to see the closing all the way through! I appreciated it. I've definitely recommended them and Myles to a few friends and family members who are currently in the market...all cars are pre installed with LoJack which is adtnl fee added on which isn't bad as it's a 3 year subscription gps on the car and great for a place like WI which has high rate of stolen cars , Myles was upfront with all fees and what I was able to add and remove . I respected his honesty .. all cars come with LoJack which is required fee $499 for 3 year subscription, dealerships weren't bad , and $399 for other fees . Bought a car from them last year with in the first month i found out with was burning oil they refused to admit it was burning oil and that it was a leak and would fix it for 1000 fast forward a couple of months later i had to get the exhaust fixed ..a year later i have to get the engine rebuilt because the pistons melted... don't buy a car from this place my mechanic said seemed like they knew that it was a problematic car and just cleared codes and did temporary fixes!! I would never recommend this place to any of my family or friends matter of fact I wouldn't even recommend it to my enemy. Too often it's taking a big chance to buy a new car, but this experience sets the bar at a new height. I drove two hours to look at a used car. It took over three hours at the dealer. The car was a good price- buyer beware!!!! I bought the car As-Is because it was past warranty, but only has 56K miles, so I wasn't worried. The finance guy played it like it was automatic for me to buy a $5000 warranty, he then worked it down to $500, I passed. But they did sneak in $600 in hidden fees. I got the car home and the key fobs do not work- there is no way the salesman could have gotten into the car using the key fob- I replaced the batteries. The little light flashes, but they do nothing to the car. I now know that new cars have a hidden key slot to open the doors when the fob doesn't work. I did ask him because the fob wouldn't pop the trunk open. He knew that the fobs were not working. Within a couple days: the check engine light came on, the rear defrost doesn't work, the rear windows are locked up, the door latch on the rear passenger door doesn't work from the inside, the wipers make a horrible noise, and after driving two hours to get home- there is exhaust coming into the driver's compartment, and the salesman is supposed to mail me a clip for the driver's side visor. Time will tell, but reading the other reviews, I have my doubts. I will be sticking thousands into the car to make it right, so much for the good price. I fear what will happen next, but since I bought it as-is I am stuck with a car that falls short. I thought hat I was buying a used car at a reputable dealer. I just had the wrong impression of the reputation. They sold me this car just inside of what is legal, but it's a BAD BAD BAD experience. I would not recommend this dealer to anyone. DO NOT BUY YOUR CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP! Lisa Smoody, one of the Sales Reps, texted and emailed me repeatedly all week to buy a car that I had inquired about. We agreed to meet today (12/5/2020) so that I could see the car. She confirmed the appointment this morning and said that she had set aside the car for me. When my wife and I arrived, I was told by the Sales Manager ('Lisa' was nowhere to be found) that the car had just been sold 15 minutes before I arrived and he went on to tell me about other deals that I might like. I don't know if this was racial profiling, since my wife and I are people of color, and I don't know if this was just extremely bad business. Either way, DO NOT BUY YOUR CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP! Hey this may be my fourth or fifth trip to service at Hyundai everything in the past two years. Make no mistake, I love my Hyundai, but l never mind being extra cautious and going to the service dealership for any service matter. In fact, I don't think I would take my car anywhere else. Similar to when you have a concern with a plumbing issue , the cost of car service is a little scary and you always want to be sure you are in trustworthy hands. Buyer beware Nightmare Dealership! This dealership takes advantage of women and has zero ethics or integrity. We purchased a 2017 Rouge from here after seeing a good deal on a car buying website. We called to test drive it but when we showed up, they told us it wasn't on the lot. We put a refundable deposit down on the car to hold it, so we can test drive it when it showed up. The day we went to test drive it, they increased the price by $1000. Then, made it seem like they were doing us a favor by dropping the price back down. Still, this is the car the she wanted. I wasn't able to stay to sign the paperwork. She has never bought a car before. They threw all the paperwork in front of her without a thorough explanation. We put 33% down. She specifically said no to gap insurance, yet they added it. Then they implied that she had to also purchase a carpet warranty and an Anti-theft package that was already installed on the vehicle. All about $2500 worth of extras. She didn't even know these were added, she thought they were included, till she got home and noticed the paperwork. Here is the best part, after signing the paperwork, they said her car isn't available to take home!!! It needed a coolant jug because they noticed a small crack. They waited till AFTER she signed all the paperwork to inform her! While waiting for her actual car, we received no updates. This jug, which was supposed to show up that day, didn't happen for almost 2 weeks. When we went to pick up the car, I went with. We sat down with the sales manager to discuss the price issues. They didn't want to correct their devious sales practices. The said "sometimes we have to have tough conversations." My wife (A COVID NURSE) said ,"you know nothing about tough conversations!!". Referring to the times she has had to call families of patients who didn't recover from the disease. After she broke down in tears, they her they would credit her only $1200 of the $2500 in a check. After we left, they called and said, they would need to credit the finance company. We still haven't seen any proof that this was actually done. Be aware, the $299 "theft protection" is optional along with the stupid carpet warranty!! Make them take it off. Better yet, do not buy from this dealership. We never will again. read more

I went in optimistic about a car drove over an hour to check it out. I test drove it and checked out a few others but I liked the first I looked at. So I call early the next business day and talked to brendon I offered what I considered a fair price. I was willing to pay in cash as well. I know the listed price isn't what the car was going to be sold for. Car was listed for 10,9 and I offered 9,8 was willing to go as high as 10,5 but he didn't even bother to contact me back flat out refused to negotiate. Don't waste your time I won't be recommending this place to anyone. read more

WARNING. DO NOT buy from Racine Hyundai. We drove from IA to WI to purchase a new 2021 Elantra N Line 5/15/21. A week later Racine Hyundai sent us a check for the sales tax that was part of the purchase contract. That was the beginning of the WORST & most HARROWING experience. We reached out to Racine & was directed to Erica Soto who handles their title work.  She was rude and refused to help.  She said she would title the car in WI but taxes & registration were our responsibility. After no help from Erica & no return calls/emails from Racine's general manager, Adrian Basich, we opened up a case w/Hyundai Corporate and Finance to no avail. They said they could not help because the dealers are independent.  So we paid off the car and waited for the title. Unfortunately, Racine Hyundai never titled the car and since our temporary plates expired, we could no longer drive it.  Only after this and contacting the DMV did Erica Soto start the process of titling the car in our name.  Over the next 30 days Erica repeatedly delayed the process.  We had to email, call, overnight documents & prompt her for everything that needed to be completed.  60 days later on 7/16/21, after a month of not being able to drive the car, we were able to go into our DMV to get our Title & plates.  We can't even begin to express the FRUSTRATION, STRESS, TIME & ENERGY this has cost our family. We have bought many vehicles over the years in IA, NE, & just a month prior in MN w/no issues.  Racine Hyundai was UNETHICAL & IRRESPONSIBLE and Hyundai Corporate and Finance was of no help and clearly didn't care. read more

Poor customer service. Drove over 2 hours away for an appointment to test drive a vehicle. They called and confirmed the appointment day of, but they sold the vehicle and failed to contact me to cancel the appointment. Wasted 4 hours of my day, very upset. read more
