The driver was EXTREMELY aggressive, at times a speeding in excess of 20 mph over the posted speed limit, sudden lane changes and heavy braking. The vehicle was itself not in great shape, most notably an audible exhaust leak (sounded like a punctured muffler). They did not use the fare meter and charged me cash upfront; they do not accept any kind of card for payment, which is itself suspicious in today's world. To top it all off the driver had his phone in his hands (yes, several times he held the phone with both hands and steered with his legs...) instead of using a simple windshield mount (which are widely available and rather inexpensive nowadays). Overall I was just glad to exit the vehicle alive but my clothes reek of cigarette smoke so badly that I'll have to wash them now.

As part of the effort to get my friend up to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission I had to contact taxi services and find one which could bring my friend from Gurnee up to Milwaukee while meeting my expectations. It was challenging. After a few uncommon conversations with some local taxi services I was getting a little concern. I then found Northern American Taxi. I called Marianna and described my unique situation. She liked the idea of helping a homeless person and we proceeded to arrange the ride for my friend. When my friend arrived at the Milwaukee Rescue Mission, he called telling me he had a great ride and good time chatting with Marianna. In addition Marianna also made a nice contribution to PADS, the Chicago area homeless program. During this current time we need special people. Marianna not only provided a great service, she showed heart and honor helping an organization focus on helping the less fortunate.

I walked the 7 blocks to the meeting point. When the shuttle arrived, I was asked for a QR code. Never needed one for a standard ride. I looked at the confirmation email, no code. I looked at the app, no code. I showed all of this to the driver. I even showed him the pending charge in my account. He basically told me to take a hike, tough luck. The cost was $21.54. I ended up having to order a regular ride which cost $117.63. Typical bait and switch. They don't have a phone number to contact them. All done with texting. They told me they'd be in touch within 6-12 hours. I contacted them after 24+ hours. They said they'd be in touch. It's now over 48+ hours and nothing. I hope you never have an issue with Uber, horrible customer service.
