Booking a court has become extremely competitive, so we plan ahead (even setting alarms to book) and make sure to grab a reservation as soon as the schedule opens. Unfortunately, the app and reservation system really need some major improvements. Yesterday, we had a pickleball court reserved, and it appeared to be the only available court on the schedule, with all of the other courts showing as unavailable due to pickleball coaching and training programs. When we arrived, however, we were actually the only court being used. All of the other courts were completely open. This has become an ongoing and extremely frustrating issue. It's difficult to secure a court when the reservation system makes it appear that courts are fully booked or unavailable, only to arrive and find that they're sitting empty. I really hope PB Tennis Club can find a solution to improve the reservation system and better reflect actual court availability. We love playing here and would love to see the booking process become more reliable and fair for everyone.

They gave the front office a facelift, the new staff is so helpful and friendly, and the tennis instructors are fantastic. At the time I was taking lessons at another club when one of the new instructors, Carolyn, reached out to see if I wanted to try out a lesson. I felt like I was hitting a plateau with my other coach so I figured I'd give it a shot and I have not looked back. Carolyn is AMAZING. She's everything I'd been looking for in a coach. I think what separates good coaches from great coaches is not only finding the things that need improvement but explaining it in a way where you can visualize and actually fix it, then run drills to practice. She also very much will tell it to you straight (which I appreciate) while somehow being funny?! I still have a ways to go but my game has definitely leveled up because of her so if you're on the fence JUST DO IT. You won't regret it!!

One of the biggest reasons I'm willing to pay a premium for Life Time is that most locations feel like more than just a gym. There's usually a luxury/resort-type atmosphere and amenities that separate it from a typical fitness club. Unfortunately, the La Jolla location really doesn't have that feeling. It honestly feels more like a cleaner, nicer version of a 24 Hour Fitness than a true premium Life Time facility. That wouldn't necessarily be a problem at a lower price point, but considering what Life Time charges per month, I think it's a major weakness. For that kind of membership cost, the facility should offer something that makes it feel noticeably more premium.o Adding a basketball court would make a huge difference, and a proper pool area would be even better. Either one would give members more amenities and help justify the premium monthly price. Wanted to take a moment to update my review of YMCA's Summer Camp experience now that our youngest…read moreturned 5 and has joined her big brother (10 year old) at camp. The YMCA Dan McKinney location continues to be rockstars when it comes to their summer camp experiences for the kids. There is a reason we come year after year and it has to do with the quality of their high interest, highly engaging camps. The counselors continue to work hard to ensure all campers are having a blast and be so patient and kind in those moments of overwhelm. As an educator myself, I greatly appreciate the care and effort of each counselor we've met this summer. I see the effort and it doesn't go unnoticed. Our oldest (10 year old, autism and ADHD) continues to love the different camps he's been a part of this summer. Slime, Harry Potter, Adventure (I mean....they're going on amazing field trips to Petco Park and Safari Park!), and soon Parkour. Our youngest (5 year old) has loved gymnastics, Disney Jr, and coming up Little Gardeners. It just feels good as a parent (and special needs parent at that) to drop off your kids knowing they're safe, going to make some new friends, and thoroughly enjoy each activity each day. Registration is straightforward, communication each week is clear and helpful, checking in and out also a breeze. 10/10 So, thank you YMCA Dan McKinney for continuing to provide amazing camps for our kids and kudos to all of the counselors who are gems in bringing these camps to life for these/my kids.
