Head Instinct Lite 2021 + Head Velocity MLT string. Ball and dampener not included.

FOR THE LOVE OF TENNIS In search for my second racquet... because I'm at that level now where multiple racquets are necessary. Took over a month to find the right tennis shop, the right racquet, etc. So much detail goes into a tennis racquet and I'm all about the details. Luckily I stumbled upon this gem of a shop, signed up for their racquet program, and maybe after testing out 5 racquets within two weeks I've found the one! First and foremost, they follow covid reopening guidelines and take safety precautions seriously. The guys here are super knowledgeable. I brought in my racquet which is a 8.8 that I bought at my tennis club's shop and wanted to get a slightly heavier racquet but very similar in head size and etc. the guys set me up with possible racquets I'd like. They have a great racquet program, better than other racquet programs at other tennis shops. Only stickler is that if you don't live in La Jolla the drive back and forth to get racquets to test every few days can be kind of... inconvenient but besides that, awesome. I'm a super fan of Head so I stuck with that brand but explore different lines. I even sampled a Babolat (pretty nice too). After trying different lines like Radical, Gravity, Pure Drive, etc etc etc. I started to narrow down. And with my style of play on the courts... I found what's best for me was the Head Instinct Lite 2021. It was only the frame. I've decided to try the Head Velocity Multifilament string - so far so good. Purchase the strings and they do the labor of putting the strings on! After a wonderful $179 spent, I have been aggressive putting my baby to use and definitely has changed my game on the courts. I've mentioned this place to my buddies at the club and some have gone over and bought themselves new racquets too. Great place. It's right next to La Jolla Tennis Club. Don't come on Sundays... they are closed - lesson learned. Until the next time...

Purchased my Head Extreme MP, top quality shop.

I've been going here for easily over a decade and it's the type of consistency from a sports store you can only dream of. They haven't expanded to a bigger store, they haven't changed much of anything in the last 45 years but that's what makes this place special. They have all your needs, rackets, strings, shoes, grips etc and they have some real world knowledge behind it to. They're all tennis players, they're fans of the pros just like any of us. We even joked about Tsitsipas breaking the handle of his Wilson racket recently and the Wimbledon final, they're up to date on any and all tennis related content. If you pay in cash, I believe there's a 3% discount. There's also free labor on stringing a racket if you buy the racket from them. Happy to give business to a local legend instead of a generic tennis web store!

A great tennis store! Definitely recommend to every tennis player who needs tennis gears. Racquet Demo Program is great for a new racquet! (https://lajollatennis.com/services-2/#Demo-Program) Basically you can try 3 racquets at a time and keep rotating them in a month. You just need to pay $20, which is deducted from the price of the racket if you buy one later. People there are nice, knowledgeable and patient. While demoing the racquets, they can conclude what's your preference on head size, weight, balance, stiffness, etc. even you are not an expert but just tell them which you like among the demos. After narrowing down the search, you can find the best fit. Similar experience for shoes and bags picking. Always provide numerous options for you to try on. This is what you cannot get for the online shopping. They also do the stringing super fast and usually you can pick it up the same day. While waiting you can go for a walk to La Jolla Cove nearby :)

This is one of the secret businesses you occasionally stumble upon. It is in a shack on Draper Avenue across from the La Jolla Library. RSW sells all things tennis, shoes, socks, caddies, etc. The least expensive tennis rackets are out front on the used rack with $80.00 being the cheapest I've seen. The new ones run up into the nose bleed section. I paid a $20.00 rental fee that allowed me to try out various rackets until I settled on one. As cool as the $20.00 fee is the the best part of the experience are the guys who run the place. They have been there for years and are very patient and helpful. While pricey it is definitely worth searching out.

The assortment in this small space is fantastic! Plus Adriana's lifelong swim expertise (both as a young competitive pool swimmer and a seasoned ocean swimmer) guarantees that she will understand your needs, advise you on nuance of equipment and brands, and help you get in the water, appropriately equipped. But the real synergy comes from Adriana's galvanizing encouragement and positivity! I am a lifelong runner who is just dipping his landlubber toe (see what I did there?) into swimming as my aging joints mount louder and louder complaints about land exercise. I found myself in LJS&S to rent a wetsuit for a swim race I had foolishly signed up for. A triathlete friend said "You have to go to this store and talk to Adriana", which I did. She helped me rent a wetsuit, dissuaded me from buying one until I tried it out (the sign of a caring merchant for sure) and then encouraged me to go swimming with her group at La Jolla Cove. Long story still long, I now swim with her group and realize there is a whole open water community that I know about because of this magical store and its charismatic proprietor. But whether you want to change your relationship to the aquatic world, or just simply get a new pair of swim goggles for your pool training, this is a place to go! You will NOT be disappointed! Inventory, knowledge, advice, and value; it's all there. It may change your life for the better !! Finally, you will be supporting a true single owner small business in the heart of La Jolla! Multi-win.

Since REI is located in an industrial street, there are many parking spots available for this building and the main building. My husband and I took our snowboards to get waxed. This time around, we opted to pay for the hot wax as opposed to their free machine wax. The hot wax is usually $36 each but they were having a promo that it's half off until March. We went on a Saturday mid-afternoon and it took only about 20 minutes. I also wanted to buy some new boots and I put my name down on the sign up sheet on the clipboard. I was the next one in line and thought the wait wouldn't be too long but I still ended up waiting about 30 minutes to be seen. It seemed there was only one guy dedicated to the boot fitting area. After a while, I ended up approaching another worker and thankfully he said he was able to help me out. *Tip if you're going for boot fitting: put your name down on the list but also just ask anyone with a green vest to see if they can help you out so you don't end up unnecessarily waiting a while. I'd like to give Mike a huge shoutout for helping me find the right boots! He was so personable and he took the time to explain what I should feel. He suggested I put insoles in my boots because I have flatter feet and it made a whole difference, so I really appreciate that. Overall, we had a great experience and received wonderful customer experience between getting our boards waxed, fitting for my new boots, and checking out.

Parking is free for two hours, and when I came on a Saturday afternoon, it wasn't packed at all. I really love Vuori. This was actually my first time shopping in-store, even though I've heard so many great things about the brand from friends. My boyfriend and I stopped by while doing some Christmas shopping, and I wanted him to try on a few jackets. I especially loved their fleece jacket, which is around $140. They also have a great selection of shorts, both lined and unlined in colors like green, blue, black, and gray. I'm a big fan of the store's overall aesthetic. The service was great from the moment we walked in, we were immediately greeted, and everything in the store was very organized. The fitting rooms were spacious, and I loved that there was a comfy seating area where I could relax while my boyfriend tried things on. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I ended up spending about $330 and picked up their iconic tote bag, which is really cute. If it's your first time shopping at Vuori, you can sign up on their website to get 20% off, which is a great perk. Overall, I loved my experience at Vuori and would definitely recommend stopping by. It's clearly a popular brand in La Jolla, I see so many people wearing it, and I'll definitely be returning to this location.
