I got the inspection done today and the experience was great. Jay, one of the owners, welcomed me to the shop, very friendly. I sat in the waiting area after they started the inspection. There was another customer there and we started chatting. He couldn't praise the guys there enough. This other customer and I started lamenting how a lot of businesses don't provide the same customer experience we were use to from when we were younger (yes, bunch of old guys lamenting the world is going to...) and he said J&J is one of the exceptions. Jay showed me some additional concerns on my car...brake and tire wear. He showed me the problem areas and said I have some time left but these expenses are coming down the pike. It was refreshing to see this sales approach...I was aware he was upselling the other services they offer and I was totally happy with that...that's what all businesses must do. It was the approach, education, and showing me why the repairs would be needed that convinced me that when I need the work to be done, I will go to Jay and his team. Well done guys and keep it up! PS: they have the cutest wall of kids pictures that puts a smile on your face.

Prestige Automotive is an honest establishment. I've lived…read morein the Hudson Valley for the past 27 years. I frequented Mavis, Midas, Firestone, and other auto repairs. It's always a hit or miss and depends if the manager has reached their quotas. I recently moved to Poughkeepsie and as a crazy as it may sound, I had the pleasure of meeting Larry, owner of Prestige Automotive, and his son Lawrence. I had one of those months where I needed repairs to three of my four family cars. My car, a 2020 Cadillac, needed a minor repair. The dealer wanted to charge me double to remove and replace wheel locks. I bought replacements at Autozone, and Lawrence did the job in less than 1/2 hour at 1/2 the price. I left there with a smile and a happy heart. Two weeks later, my wife's car, a 2011 Dodge Avenger, wouldn't start. It had over 130K miles and had not had a tune up since I bought it with 65K miles. It needed a battery, new plugs, coils and related parts. Again, I left there satisfied that I paid a fair price. Lastly, my son, while driving his 2014 Kia Optima (with 138K miles) on I87, was stranded off of New Paltz with engine problems. Since I had two good experiences with Prestige Automotive, I had AAA bring the car to Prestige Automotive. After a couple of days of a preliminary diagnostic test, Larry called me and told me that the car probably needed a new engine. He told me he didn't want to void the warranty because that particular Kia and year were part of a recall. He gave me a related NHTSA bulletin, as well as, Kia recall information and instructed me to tow it to the dealer. After further testing by Kia, the new engine was installed by Kia free of charge. Thank you, Larry, for your honesty. You definitely have a new customer!

They didn't even have record that I had been there previously with this vehicle. Terrible service. none of my vehicles will be brought back to them and I recommend to take your vehicles elsewhere.

started out great, I sent Tom to my sisters house (she lives 2 hours from me and her car broke down…read morein her driveway) to repair her car. Told him to address the thermostat hose, throttle housing and asked for an oil change as well. He had me buy the parts (great so far), we scheduled a day for him to make repairs. He showed up and changed the parts but couldnt get the car to stay on. He said the motor was probably blown or one of the pulleys were no good. And said the engine was smoking..Recommended to return and charge the battery and change the oil the following week. Unfortunately my sister paid him.... he said he would be back. I went to her house installed a new battery and an alternator. I sent Tom a video of the car working and just asked him to complete the oilchange since he was paid.. Tom agreed. Tom wont respond to texts or my calls. i have called and texted multiple times to give him the benefit of doubt before giving Tom this truthful and bad review. Dont waste yiur time with dishonest, misdiagnose and non standup Tom C mobile mechanic

I took my VW in for a power steering leak. They charged me $586 to fix it , yet after a week I…read morerealized my car wasn't fixed. I took it back in and they said it was going to cost me ANOTHER $1900 to fix the leak The mechanic said he never had seen a leak like this before. .Say what? What about the first time.? Aren't there UV dye kits to spot leaks.? Isn't this your job? If a mechanic doesn't know what they are doing then I think they should send you elsewhere , not keeping charging you until they figure out the problem! At least they should of reimburse me the $586 for work that In actuality I didn't need. At The Village Shop it's strictly amateur hour (and expensive hours at that!) * Michaels response to my review is sorely lacking. He or none of his team told me the extent of my power steering leak when I initially took my car in. I paid $586 and they happily sent me on on way with only fixing what they "thought" was wrong. At first, the secretary at the Drop Shop told me they couldn't find a leak. This kinda goes contrary to Michaels statement about l"eaks everywhere". If there were , how come nothing was said in the first place? Somebody is not on the same page .It seems suspicious at best and totally unprofessional at its worse.

On the way down, heard an odd sound coming from under the front of the car at highway speeds. Checked under the car and a panel under the engine that was loose. At higher speeds it fluttered up and down. I'm not a mechanic nor have a lift to get under the car. We were in the neighborhood a couple days later, and I brought the car over just to see what they could do. Although they're always busy, they had an empty bay, and put the car up on the lift. Brian explained it was the clips that hold the "belly pan" in place. He fixed it in about five minutes; and when I asked "how much?" his answer was i'm a good customer. There's no charge. I would highly recommend Brinkerhoff Service anyone, who needs quality work done.
