Rude and condescending. i have brought my vehicle there previously for inspection and it passed with no issues. same vehicle, 4 years later, no changes made to vehicle, failed inspection for window tint. They didn't even have record that I had been there previously with this vehicle. I visited Prestige many times when I lived in Poughkeepsie. The weekend before Thanksgiving, I was driving back home to visit family when the message popped up on the dash - brake light out. So I visited here the week of Thanksgiving, only had to wait a few minutes before they saw me, and about 15 minutes total before it was all done. Such wait times are unheard of by me. You'll be waiting an hour if you're lucky. And the price was reasonable as well. All the places by me in northern Virginia are crooks, but Prestige is honest, hard working, and fast, but not so fast that they do shoddy work. This guy arrived with his son to tow my car as I was stalled in the side of the road. An already stressful situation, he didn't say a word to me and was completely cold. He proceeded to speed off with my car before getting valuable details as to where to take the vehicle. I flagged him to stop and told him I would like to follow my car and get some paperwork. He began to insult the value of my car and speeded off before I could follow. This guy is the owner, he was rude and disrespectful. I DO NOT recommend this company AT ALL. Prestige Automotive is an honest establishment. I've lived in the Hudson Valley for the past 27 years. I frequented Mavis, Midas, Firestone, and other auto repairs. It's always a hit or miss and depends if the manager has reached their quotas. I recently moved to Poughkeepsie and as a crazy as it may sound, I had the pleasure of meeting Larry, owner of Prestige Automotive, and his son Lawrence. I had one of those months where I needed repairs to three of my four family cars. My car, a 2020 Cadillac, needed a minor repair. The dealer wanted to charge me double to remove and replace wheel locks. I bought replacements at Autozone, and Lawrence did the job in less than 1/2 hour at 1/2 the price. I left there with a smile and a happy heart. Two weeks later, my wife's car, a 2011 Dodge Avenger, wouldn't start. It had over 130K miles and had not had a tune up since I bought it with 65K miles. It needed a battery, new plugs, coils and related parts. Again, I left there satisfied that I paid a fair price. Lastly, my son, while driving his 2014 Kia Optima (with 138K miles) on I87, was stranded off of New Paltz with engine problems. Since I had two good experiences with Prestige Automotive, I had AAA bring the car to Prestige Automotive. After a couple of days of a preliminary diagnostic test, Larry called me and told me that the car probably needed a new engine. He told me he didn't want to void the warranty because that particular Kia and year were part of a recall. He gave me a related NHTSA bulletin, as well as, Kia recall information and instructed me to tow it to the dealer. After further testing by Kia, the new engine was installed by Kia free of charge. I would give this place 0 stars if possible. Alittle background first. I have an 08 Hyundai Tiburon with only 55,934 miles on it when I took it to Prestige Automotive for an official NYS INSPECTION. I've had this car for two years and have always had my friend change the oil do the brakes change the tires and keep up with the maintenance. He has never "topped off" any fluids what so ever. Larry at Prestige tried to tell me that my power steering rack was leaking fluid and that it had been "topped off". He said it was a continuous drip and would not pass my car. My friend whome is a Machanic was under my car 1 hour prior to this changing the oil and saw no leaks what so ever. He did not inspect it because his shop is not liscanced to do so. He does mostly body work but knows his cars very well. With so few miles and someone else under the car 1 hour ago I did not believe these recommendations. So to make a long story short. I took it to another garage and had it looked at and there were no leaks what so ever. I took it to Mavis for the inspection the following day and it passed inspection with flying colors. No leaks, all tires are good, brakes good. The whole nine. Prestige wanted to charge me $814.99 to fix something that was not broke. read more

I just moved to the area and needed some work on my cargo van. Larry took it in right away! Him and his team did a bunch of work in a short period of time. Larry then took my VW Passat in for a new radiator and fixed an electrical problem with the turbo. These guys do clean work. There was no grease marks on the car or interior. Iv worked for the owner larry for a wile and let me tell you, this man does not know how to treat his employees. Their under paid and treated like dirt. And you better pray he doesnt forget to print your paycheck before he goes on vacation because hes done that to me one to many times. But dont worry he'll probably have a nice lie waiting to save his butt. His mechanics are great but he over prices everything. He does unnecessary work just to put a couple extra bucks in his wallet. One star is to high of a rating for me. Bottom line if you want good and honest service look elsewhere. read more

It's important that I take the time to sincerely thanks Larry Sheehan for the service he provided to me this past Thursday. My car needed a jump to get out of the parking lot after work (just after 5PM). I knew I needed a new battery right away. I had never been to Prestige Automotive on Vassar Rd but I had passed it every day to and from work since moving over to our new location back in April. I said "what the heck" and pulled in to Prestige and saw Larry outside. Knowing it was 5:15 I asked Larry if he was still open and told him I needed a new battery. He told me to pull around while he looked for a battery. As it turned out he had a great battery at a great price and he installed it and had me back on the road by six. I really have to give kudos to an owner who stays at the shop after hours to help someone on the spot. Having worked in retail for many years when I was younger I know this is the way I took care of things and its great to see someone who thinks the same way! read more
