Staff were rude, condescending and dehumanizing. I used to shop at Radiance a lot. Monthly stops to buy herbs for tea and tinctures. I will never shop there again. Went to this establishment to get some herbal tea on a Monday and park my car and put my money in the meter and walk across to the business and two rude ladies I would call him b i t s actually walked right in front of me rudely and said we're not open we're not open until 11 what kind of stablish mint downtown Olympia that sells herbal teas and does massages opens up at 11 a.m. lazy asses my first experience and only experience I'll ever have with this establishment was not good. Visited yesterday to finally get the lotions that caught my attention! Wild Carrot Herbals products are amazing. They dont sting my eczema and glide on. They 'calm' my skin when it's feeling hot and itchy. I highly recommend these particular products for dry, scaley eczema prone skin!!! They're worth the extra dollar when you know you're putting something better than steroids and chemicals on your skin to heal and calm it! Always five stars from me. I had been shopping here for years...and now I don't go here. I am finally getting around to writing my first review ever... (this event happened a year ago) I was 8 months pregnant and shopping with my 4 year old the last time I walked into Radiance. We both needed to use the bathroom and my 5 year old was on verge of peeing his pants. They had refused us and said they closed their restroom to the public "because of Covid", even though we were both in desperate need and I had recently used it last time I was in the store. This was a completely new policy of theirs even after covid had been around for a couple years already. I now refuse to support a business that will use Covid as an excuse for my child to have to hold his bladder and almost pee his pants (unhealthy and would have been an embarrassing experience for him) as well as me being very obviously VERY pregnant. This is my go to place for my borage cream from Wild Carrot and Rosewater with Glycerin that I use on my face every morning. It keeps my rosea away and makes my face look fresh, even when I feel tired. :) The staff are very knowledgeable and kind and the store is very organized. They also have the best ginger candies. Oh, and their prices are lower than the internet. Don't ask me how they manage that but everything I buy from there I check online and Radiance is always less expensive. Great place! read more

Herbs for what ails you! They've got big bottles of dried herbs as well as homeopathic remedies. This is the real deal. It's very clean and new looking. There are also soaps and jewelry, and books, as well as a place to get a massage. I've finally figured out that Olympia is the perfect place for these types of wonderful shops. Wow, talk about overpriced! I've been doing a lot of research about essential oils and dried herbs. After finally gathering all the info I needed, I decided not to wait for the shipping from most online companies and just pick it up from a local store. Yikes! Two, three or even four times more. I will admit the staff were friendly and pretty knowledgable. They had a wide variety of items in their store but their labels are a little misleading. Oh, and it's super hot in there. My first time here was over a year ago. My mother and I both went for massages. I got a deep tissue and a citrus detox (which I LOVED the citrus detox) I felt so cleansed and refreshed. Yesterday was my second time back and I decided to try a Swedish massage and Katie was my masseur. She was very kind and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. They have nice stuff in stock, but nearly a 100% markup. I personally only buy herbs there if it's an emergency. (Otherwise I order direct from the supplier.) The herb department's bulk herbs are good quality though, and Carol's a great herbalist to talk with. I've had about 5 massages there over the 5 years I've lived there and they've all been pretty terrible overall. But that's just me--I get a massage for therapeutic benefit and am not really satisfied if someone is lightly rubbing oil on my back for 50 minutes. read more

Like others have mentioned, upon entering Radiance you inhale some serious scents. Natural stuff, but a little strong when you first come in. They sell natural products, like make-up (Kiss my face and others) and personal care, hemp clothes/bags, candles/incense, and handmade jewelry. They also provide massage therapy! My friend used to work here and she loved it. The left side of the store sells herbs by the ounce and every time I've had questions, the employees were knowledgeable and patient. Towards the front is good-sized book section and they have a few magazines by the register. To be honest, I don't really go here to really BUY things. I go because I just wind up here! I've had many massages. Most of them I have enjoyed and found to be beneficial. A few months back I made an appointment at the l ast minute on a Saturday, and they had me come in and see Chad. He gave me the best massage I've ever had! I could feel his good energy, and he paid close attention to helping me relax, while at the same time giving me a super deep tissue massage. Similar to some previous posts, we were met with pretty poor customer service. Upon entering, a student of mine asked where the rose essential oils were and no smile or eye contact was made as she was pointed to the right direction. A saleswoman then proceeded to tell her how expensive everything was, repeatedly (a minimum of three times), rather than focusing on showing and explaining the goods. My student made no mention of her price point, nor did she inquire about it. My student happens to be a young black woman, and this situation was also witnessed by her two white friends. All three of them felt put-off by the lack of help and the assumption that the student inquiring could not have the means to buy something in the store (all this assessed by the salesperson based on looks alone- whether that be age, race, assumptions of finances, or a combination of thinking people of a certain background and/or age group cannot be serious customers). After our students had enough of the insulting interaction, they came to my colleague and I simply wanting to leave the store. We put back what we would have purchased, and gave our student comparable and caring alternatives in Tacoma. read more

Today I made a visit to this establishment with much apprehension based on some of the reviews read online. For starters let me say parking is atrocious so good luck! After circling the block a few times, I found a spot on 5th street for $1.75. After a quick walk around the block, Radiance Herbs & Massage was staring me in the face. Upon entering the store I was immediately greeted by someone who's name I forgot. She was a pleasant and peaceful looking woman....kinda short, glasses, and curly hair. After informing her that I was there for a massage, she pointed me to the back of the store where I checked in and completed the required paperwork. Since I arrived early, there were 20 minutes to kill before my appointment so I perused the store. This place has a lot to offer.......scents, oils, supplements, gifts, snacks, makeup, books, CDs, etc.... Based on a quick walk around the store, they seem to have things you need and/or would use. Definitely not an establishment filled with meaningless junk! My therapist was Alisa and she was great! She is very soothing and calming as she work her muscular magic. I've had hundreds of massages and she rank in my top 3 therapist. Perhaps I caught Alisa on a good day so I have scheduled another massage to confirm or deny my initial thoughts. Oh yeah, one Yelper stated that the women (or some) who work here are sexist towards men. Without knocking his experience, this certainly was not my impression. I was greeted by multiple workers who also asked if I needed help. Several other reviewers commented on the fragrance(s) that emanates from this place. Imagine this.....you have a room filled with herbs, plants, oils, incense, lotions, soaps, etc... What smell were you expecting? I always reserve the fifth star for consistency! My husband and I no longer live in Olympia, but while we did, from 1984 - 2004, we got many massages from Alex Ramsey. Can't recommend him highly enough, though we don't know whether he still works there. We bought a few products there too and liked them. (We did very little online shopping in those days so didn't compare prices.) My husband noticed some coolness when encountering clerks and assumed it was because he was male. In reading the current reviews, I was surprised to see how mixed they were and that the only responses from the owner were responses to positive reviews. Not rude, exactly, but more like they are too overwhelmed and busy to want to deal with you. A wonderful shop in charming Downtown Olympia with something for almost every health issue you can think of. The staff is a little lackadaisical, but they care and they'll work to pair you with the person who can help you best with your concerns. Really I just thing they're supremely relaxed because they work for such great owners. There prices are fair and I save a bundle shopping with them instead of some of the bigger health stores like Marlene's in Tacoma. I get 1 or 2 massages from them annually and have found a couple wonderful masseuses there. As with any health care provider it takes time and a personal effort to find someone you click with. Nice would have been to ignore me, glaring at me because I have a penis is completely innapropriate (trust me, it has no intrest in you). I stopped into Radiance to get a couple of products to welcome the New Year. I must have had that "I have no clue what I'm doing" look because one of the sales ladies took me under her wing and showed me around. In talking with her I realized she was one of the therapists. I shared that I had a massage therapist and an acupuncturist but was looking for someone in the Puget Sound area who was experienced in more than one speciality and would utilize all those skills during a session (i.e., Reiki/Energy work, Acupuncture/pressure, Massage, Reflexology, etc.). Lo-and-behold, she informed me that is how *she* preferred to work with her clients, using various techniques as the body required/needed. WOW! So I scheduled for her first availability (which was only four days out). I am here to tell you that Jessica O. is WONDERFUL. What a calming, nurturing, intuitive and KNOWLEDGEABLE soul she is. I have signed on as a regular and am happy to report that all of her suggested herbs, supplements and (minor) suggested lifestyle changes ARE WORKING (not to mention the acupuncture, heat, and energy work she did with me)! Two years of feeling ungrounded, tired and well, hopeless and all it took was two hours with Jessica to feel like a "productive" person again. As for the other sales people I have encountered. . . .ALL of them, thus far, have been extremely helpful, polite and informative.
