I got the anti aging 90 min facial with Josine. It was great - she did a lot of extractions, which is what I wanted. My skin is much smoother, softer, brighter and clearer. Josine explained what she was doing and the products she was using the whole time. The microdermabrasion feels so good as it sucks your skin. Josine did one part of my face and showed me the results and it looked as though I had a facelift! My cheeks were much more lifted and my laugh lines were lighter. It's been two weeks since my facial. My skin is extremely smooth and bright. I don't have any breakouts now and my pores are much smaller. I went in for a microdermabrasion facial for the first time. This is definitely a no frills get to the point type of place. If you are looking for something pretty and luxurious, this isn't the place. I had some deep blackheads and pores I couldn't get out myself for months. The aesthetician was able to get out all of the big black heads , which is all I cleared about. My nose had ton of blackheads and now it's super smooth. I'm docking points for hygienic practices overall. The blankets and the sheets between clients don't get changed. I don't think that's clean. The room itself also had a smell when I walked in but not sure what it was. I did get a discount for first time customer. One hour was $100, not including tax and tip. read more

I have been going to Josine for facials on and off for the past 3 years and I LOVE her and the magic that she imparts on my skin!! It all started when I was preparing for my wedding, wanting to make sure the "zit on the nose" scene would not strike on my big day and to have clear skin to minimize the need for heavy make-up. I have combination skin and while my skin is generally ok, I tend to have clogged pores and a stubborn few spots that DIY treatments do not suffice. Not wanting to venture more than 10 blocks from my home, I yelped for the best facial place on the UWS and found Radiance. After repeating my treatment (extraction, microdermabrasion; I call it my big dig) with Josine on a regular basis for a few months before my wedding, I barely needed any makeup on the big day! Since the wedding, there had been times where I would go to Josine less frequently and my skin would suffer as a result. Given how reasonable her prices are, I've been going to her on a more regular basis now and I get compliments on my bare skin all the time. This is not a super fancy spa but the environment is nice and tranquil, Josine is also a super nice lady with great bed-side manners, and will give you the clear skin that you've always wanted. Radiance Spa claims to open at 10am on Saturday. I booked an appointment for a facial at noon. I arrived and no one was there. I called and was told the aesthetician was running late. I called twice more and left after waiting 30 minutes. I don't know how good they are, but they lost a new customer who lives in the neighborhood to a salon one block down. read more

I highly recommend Radiance Spa. Josine is professional and accommodating. You definitely get what you pay for. While I have attended spa week and been to other estheticians for a great deal or even just a lower asking price, the results were never comparable to the quality of Josine's work. I must warn you that depending on how congested your skin is, you may walk out looking you broke out in a rash on your face because of the irritation from the extractions. However, it is important to note that my skin is VERY congested and that it is two or three days later that you see the real magic. Josine has been giving me facials since I was a teenager (5 years with her). Throughout all my breakouts, some extremely severe, her facials (with microdermabrasion and extractions) have been the only effective remedy. She is detailed oriented and I never have to worry about her missing a pore or a pimple. Josine definitely knows what she is doing and I do not trust anyone else as much with a microdermabrasion wand or an extractor tool around my face. She is a miracle worker. Even with a face full of acne, after two or three sessions with 10 day intervals in between, my skin is glowing and I receive endless compliments on how great my skin is. There is a notable difference in my skin when I have been going to her and when I have been slacking. When I am super stressed and am too busy to go, it shows on my face. I remember one time, my skin was exceptionally bad and when she saw, she said tenderly, "What happened to my skin???" This shows that Josine takes personal responsibility for her work. Your skin is the largest organ on your body. Your face, your complexion, is the first thing that people see and first impressions can dictate positive or negative interactions. While beauty on the inside is essential to living a full life, being and feeling beautiful on the outside is also important. Josine is THE best! Let me start from the beginning. I am a middle-aged Asian woman with both delicate and sun battered skin (freckles, dark spots etc.). I have had microdermabrasion treatments in the past and had seen terrific results-when I lived in San Francisco over 10 years ago. I had been so devoted to my previous esthetician that I had often looked for someone new in New York but never felt ready to try someone new and the years rolled by. On a whim, I searched for spas in my area and decided, at breakfast, that if I could get the appointment that day then I would go. I'm sure many of you beauty goers know that most spas have a significant waiting period for appointments because they are busy or pretending to be busy to justify some of the outrageous prices...Anyway, Josine picked up the phone and offered me a couple of appointment options that day. I could tell that she was trying to fit me in at my convenience which is very unlike most spas. Once I arrived at the spa, I found the space to be vey clean and organized. I felt instantly relaxed. I received a microdermabrasion treatment, traditional pore cleansing facial and another treatment called bio-lifting (a treatment I had never had before). Josine has a strong yet gentle touch and is truly an artist with her treatments. She has a lovely demeanor and friendly nature that made the whole experience pleasant and relaxing. I saw significant changes in the texture of my skin and a noticeable lightening of my darkened freckles and other spots after one treatment! I repeat, I looked noticeably improved in one treatment. And, as if these weren't enough reasons to go back, the price for these treatments are very affordable for anyone. I had to know why she charged so low (surprising for how effective her treatments are) and she replied that she wanted to keep her prices reasonable so that her clients could make them a consistent part of their beauty regimen and be able to achieve the results they want long term. By over-charging, she felt that her clients may not be encouraged or able to continue or be inconsistent ultimately resulting in having spent a ton of money for little to no results. That way of thinking really reveals how thoughtful Josine is and how interested she is in helping her clients. I cannot recommend her and Radiance Spa enough! read more

Josine is the rock star they all say she is. Her specialty is waxing. She offers a 5-star brow wax at a 3-star price - that is, it's not the $6 threading you can get a few blocks away, but it will hurt less, look cleaner, and you'll feel better about the experience. I also treated myself to a facial, since my wedding was five days out. She communicated ear procedure clearly. I felt that safe, pampered feeling you're supposed to get. And then I felt very content and happy for the rest of the day. Shockingly, I also made it through the day without my face getting red or painful. Hooray for Josine! One more note: She plays good music--still spa music, but done much better. Josine is so amazing! I have been going to see Josine for over 7 years. Started out getting brow waxes and bikinis which I have to say she is like an artist. She is a perfectionist and will make your brows perfectly to match your face :) Her technique for bikini waxing is amazing because she is gentle and swift. Over the years I started trying different facials she offers. Right now I am addicted to the biolifting facial. It is perfect for someone who has a wedding, special event, or looking to tighten their face without surgery. I have been getting it because as I get older I notice my skin isn't as firm and biolifting facials have help me firm up my face and not age as fast. My wedding is coming up and I have increase the frequency of my biolifiting facials over the last 6 months in preparing for the ceremony. I found this place on Yelp in between meetings in the UWS while deciding a facial was a must-do for that day. At first I was apprehensive, this "spa" is really a first floor apartment in a residential building. And staff kept pushing the pricy microdermabrasion rather than the regular facial that I had wanted. But after charging me a $100 for the usually nearly $200 microdermabrasion, I gave in. And loved it! Smoothed out my pre-winter drying skin. And they gave me extra time without charge for a facial massage. I will be back. Very professional team there. read more

Had the new client special, 75-min minute microdermabrasion facial. The salon is very simple, no frills which I don't mind at all. looked clean which I def pay attention to. The facial itself was nice and I'd give it a solid 4 * but I didn't appreciate the esthetician's attempt to up-sell almost immediately, telling me (not asking!) that she's adding some other treatment that I of course desperately "need" and that'll be additional $30-50. I had to insist I do not in fact need it. Another thing that spoiled my experience was the fact that she stopped at 60 mins on the dot. Why do you advertise a 75-min treatment special if you have no intent on keeping true to it? I get that the competition is brutal but this isn't how you attract and keep new clientele. Josine, appreciate you responding. Your site still advertises the 75-min special so I'd suggest changing it to reflect the accurate time. read more

I went to Radiance Spa for the first time today and had a Diamond Microdermabrasion facial. Josine is by far one of the best esthetician's I have been to. She is a perfectionist and very detail oriented in her work, and made sure that I was comfortable throughout my treatment. I also love that Josine is using the latest spa equipment. After cleansing and examining my skin, Josine started with the Diamond Microdermabrasion. I then had another cleanse and facial massage with steam. Lastly, extractions followed by a delightfully cooling collagen mask to finish! This place was friendly when I came in but they didn't have the lady who did the eyelashes actually IN the store so I had to wait about 20min for her to arrive, so I went to a nearby starbucks to kill a bit of time. Service was friendly but bare, no frills. Inside of salon is small, doesn't look particularly clean and another lady was eating her lunch there in front of customers...not that professional. Worse part is that although my lashes looked good when I had them, in ONE WEEK they were all GONE. $95 for having beautiful full eyelashes for 3-4 days and by day 7, all gone. Lady said they should last 2-3 weeks. So that wasn't even close. Won't go back again, clearly. Worth going further downtown for more proper eyelash extension application. read more

It was my first one ever and I have to say it was painful and uncomfortable, but Josine made me feel as reassured and semi comfy as one could possibly be during such a tedious process and made sure to thoroughly clean it my eyes after. My husband got me a gift certificate for a facial and massage. I had the microdermabrasion facial. It was the first time I had microdermabrasion; if you've avoided it b/c it sounds harsh on the skin, I recommend you try it. It is not painful or rough on your skin. I had very dry winter skin and now it is as smooth as a baby's! The main thing I look for in a facial is DEEP CLEANING. I have large, clogged pores and lots of blackheads and Josine did an amazing job, she was incredibly thorough and my skin is squeaky clean and clear! At other spas I've had to do some touching up once I got home b/c some pores were still visibly clogged but Josine was meticulous. The hour facial included a neck/shoulder massage, hand massage and feet massage. I then had a full body massage that was incredibly relaxing. It was refreshingly different, I'm so used to the same massage from most places I've been to but the masseur did a few different things that really helped release tension and relax my whole body. (Example: massaged around my kneecaps, around ankles, above elbow, the tops of my feet, pad of my big toe) I was a little apprehensive about having a male masseur but he respected my modesty and only uncovered the parts of my body that he was working on, and he worked under the cover or on top of the cover in some areas so I never felt exposed or embarrassed. She went over almost every area multiple times, doing small strips at a time, still left hair behind and my bikini area left sore/irritated from the repeated strips.
