So we happened to order this for our work lunch a few weeks back. My coworker and I decided to split our two roties this way we could try to different flavors. Our first choice was the goat roti have the second was the chicken and shrimp. Even though we had Uber eats it by the time it came to us. It's still was warm and did not go soggy so these are thin roti wrapped with a thin layering of dry lentils and stuffed with the meat of your choice. The chicken and shrimp one was pretty average did not blew my pallet away. But the goat curry one was beyond amazing. I would give it a 10 on 10 it was stuffed with goat meat definitely worth each penny and full flavor. I think I ordered medium spice and it was just perfect. Maybe next time I would like to try the hot, the meal was so satisfying and comforting- for lunch I think a half of a roti was more than enough for me especially if you are at work and don't want to fall asleep. I do want to try them more flavors, but I don't think anyone would beat their goat-it was just too perfect. I believe they do have a special on a day but it's for pick up only not when your are ubering do check that out as well. Definitely a great spot if you haven't had them before. I'm not sure what all the hype is about Radica's Hot and Spicy. This was our first time ordering takeout, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. We were told our order would be ready in 25-30 minutes, but it took over 40 minutes. The house fried rice was completely flavourless, and the lamb had a very gamey taste. The fried chicken was overcooked and tasted stale--almost as if it had been made the day before and reheated in the microwave. We also didn't expect the stir-fry to be served over fried rice, especially since no rice option was selected when we placed the order. Most of the container was filled with dry, bland fried rice with only a small amount of vegetables on top. To make matters worse, the lo mein was drowning in sauce. Overall, the food was unappetizing, and we won't be ordering from here again. read more

I've always driven past Radica's wondering if it was any good and finally found some time to check it out today. The restaurant is in a plaza with plenty of parking! Once inside you have the option to either dine in or you can order to take out. I chose to dine in and was seated immediately. I will say their service is pretty slow as the waitress took about 10 minutes before checking in with us, which was kind of strange especially since it wasn't that busy. Anywho, the food easily made up for it! I had gotten the Boneless Chicken Roti and it was amazing!! Definitely was filling and made you feel like you were back home with the solo soda! Once we were finished, it took about 10-15 minutes for the waitress to check back in with us after we tried to flag them down to get the bill... Food amazing, service needs a bit of work! read more

Ordered take out from Radica's over the weekend. We ordered the pepper shrimp fried rice topped with chicken and the chicken curry with dhal puri. The curry was watery oily soup and the flavour wasn't great. The roti itself was fresh and fluffy and great. The fried rice was a disappointment. The chicken was great and so was the pepper shrimp. The rice itself was so soft and mushy and he flavour wasn't the greatest when compared to other West Indian fried rice. It was just disappointing. read more

The ambiance here is very relaxed and casual it has a very homey vibe you feel at home dining here because the staff make the effort to make sure your taken care of. The dance floor is tiny and located in a main walkway, so dancing is constantly interrupted as people walk through. This also creates challenges for servers trying to move around and deliver orders. Although the menu items are tasty, some portions feel small, and the heavy use of vegetables can make the meat or seafood portions seem larger than they actually are. You see it does not matter how good your product or service, how attractive the price; integrity in doing business ranks high with me. Hopefully with you also. I planned to go to another establishment for West Indies foods, but I'm so happy the "Hot & Spicy" sign caught my eye. My husband, our daughter and I were in Brampton just for the day, and we got several dishes for take out. Which included doubles, pepper shrimp, jerk chicken, chow mein, and fried rice, and a few other goodies. Everything was phenomenal. The pepper shrimp included several lightly battered shrimp. The heat level was perfect over the chow mein noodles, thinly sliced vegetables and scotch bonnet peppers. The doubles were my absolute favorite. Two fried pieces of dough with channa (chickpea) Curry and a Spicy sauce. Dare I say that they're better than TrinCity in Queens? Yes! I'm saying it! I'll definitely return for plenty more foods in the future. Tip: pay with cash. Our total bill was $89, but because we paid with cash we saved almost $9. read more

The rice and peas tasted good but the texture was too wet/mushy and not a fan of the coleslaw. Boneless chicken with dahlpuri was a 7/10 since it was quite dry, which this one was a little wet. I have been coming here for the past couple of years to satisfy my Roti and Doubles cravings while I'm at work. I'm not sure if I'm coming because of the proximity or because of the quality of the food. The store is located near the side back of a plaza, right beside another Caribbean restaurant. The place is big enough to accommodate roughly 20 people if you want to eat there but takeout is their main business. You order on the right side, by the cash register and your order comes out on the left. We came on a Thursday afternoon and the place was packed. The drawback of eating there, it's that the place becomes really tight when you have people ordering and waiting for their food, hovering near your table. I'm not extremely familiar with West Indian cuisine but I have come enough times here to know that the quality of their Roti and Doubles is decent but inconsistent. Sometimes though there's too much dough on the wrap, and not enough filling or meats. As you can see from the picture, their large size is as described. The level of hotness can vary even for a mild to the spicy side. Also, service for the most part can be slow. I ordered the Large Boneless Goat Roti and was good. Was in the neighbourhood and wanted a light lunch. Instead of going to Tims near it we went in at Radica's. The restaurant is some tables and is fairly clean and staff making efforts to keep it. The ordering was simple as we ordered a large Aloo Channa Roti to be shared between the two of us. We ordered mild and a side of spicy sauce for me. The Roti arrived and size is LARGE. Enough if you are super hungry. The Roti soft and stuffed daal. The fillings of Channa (Chickpeas) was packed. Very little Aloo (potatoes) though. The spiciness a bit for her but when I added the extra sauce, it tasted amazing. Even without the sauce, it had great flavour. To eat is a bit messy, but nevertheless leaving you to want to eat more!!! Hopefully we are in the neighbourhood soon. read more

Radica's is amazing comfort food! This small eatery is great for take-out or a quick bite-and-go. The staff make it quite apparent they don't want you hanging around for a while, but I understand since there is very limited seating. The bathrooms are also super off-putting, with full on lockers and flip-flops in the bathroom. However the food is fantastic! I love everything from their jerk chicken with rice and peas to their goat curry with roti. Everything they do is absolutely amazing and flavorful, and it'll have you coming back for more! I highly recommend them for take-out especially, they package and wrap the food perfectly. I've made some long commutes and my food is still warm by the time I get home! All in all Radicas is a great comfort meal to get you through the day. read more

I previously gave this restaurant a great rating because their food always tasted good and we hadn't had any major issues with customer service before. I'm sorry to say that has changed. They have messed up our order several times whether I went in for pick up or ordered for delivery. They always seemed reluctant to compensate us for their error but they always did. I ordered through Skip the Dishes yesterday and received such tiny portions it was a joke. They changed their portion sizes to be less than that of a side order of sauce which we received from another restaurant. In addition, they gave me an incorrect order. When I called to advise of the error I was treated horribly by Radica herself. She had a don't care attitude about it all and had no interest in ensuring I received what I ordered. She said I could come back in next time and just tell her and she will give me what was missing from this order. I asked if she wanted to take my name and write it down and she said no she would remember and that she would be there the next day if I came in. I said I was not sure when I would be in next. I said "if I come back in a month would you remember?" She said "no I'd forget that long time" So I said that's right so can you please write it down. She continued to raise her voice and talk over me. She said the containers we received are the same portion sizes because that's what they used to measure out the portions that went into the bigger containers I was used to getting. This was a complete lie as I've ordered from them many, many times and usually share the order with my husband. There was no way we could share this, it was tiny! I've added a photo. She then went on to say the error was with Skip The Dishes not with them and I shouldn't be calling them about it. I checked my order with Skip The Dishes and it was correct. At this point I was so frustrated speaking to her and getting such attitude. I advised her she should have more pride in her product and should be ashamed to be treating loyal customers in such a manner. She said to me " you paid for 3 things and you got three things" I guess she thinks it doesn't matter whether I get the correct items or not. I told her I wasn't calling to complain about the price at all I just wanted to ensure I could eventually get what I ordered. This restaurant used to be husband's favourite so I had ordered food just for him to celebrate his birthday. He is also so disappointed in the customer service he didn't eat the food. Probably a 3.5, but it was better than average, so let's go with the 4. Service was poor, but I don't come in expecting great customer service in West Indian restaurants. The guy taking the cash (who seemed to be an owner and/or manager) had no idea how to apply the 5% discount with Yelp check-in and didn't try to remedy the situation. I then provided small change with my bill so I'd get only loonies and toonies back. He was really thrown off and said "you're confusing me". I won't even let it affect the rating since it's par for the course. I may try the goat roti another time, but thought I'd go a little more safe with boneless chicken on my first visit. I ordered spicy and I'm glad they made good on it when I was able to taste it for myself. The chicken, gravy, spice and the rest of the filling were delicious. For the roti itself, I've had better, but still pretty good. I had dine in. Like the service, it's only about being functional, with picking up your own food and having plastic utensils. At least I got a real plate, but a normal knife would be nice when cutting through layers of roti. Just know that you're here for the food only, and to that end, it's worth coming for sure. read more

Leave it to a local friend to guide my taste buds on a trip to the Caribbean. Best part the total trip cost me only about $12.50!! Located in Brampton just off of hwy 10 and Queen you'll find this little West Indian gem. I don't know much about West Indian food but I know roti and curries and this they had a plenty. Now don't be sad when I tell you that beef and pork have no place on this menu because they have a perfectly acceptable substitute - boneless curried goat. I had a choice between rice and roti... Guess how hard that choice was? Roti. No questions asked. My perfectly packed and folded roti envelope came shortly there after literally bursting at the seams. And it wasn't just packed with filler either! Each curry covered bite was filled with succulent, tender, perfectly cooked goat meat. Literally to die for! When I ordered I'd asked for the roti hot but the kind man at the counter looked at me with distrust, as if to say "I dun trust this white boi" and kindly suggested I try medium because he didn't want to be charged with assisted suicide. Fair enough - game on. Medium was more than tolerable on the patented Eatcrest Spice Scale. A 2.5/5 at worst. However ill award and extra 0.5 because right at the end there was a patch of roti that was hiding a small forest fire and it caused 3 new chest hairs to grow. True story. To wash this all down I went for a bottle of sweetened Solo Gingerbeer which is apparently native to Trinidad. Not too peppery but a perfect accompanyment to my meal. Great meal. Neat hidden spot. When on Monday since no other Trinidad restaurant was opened. Oh lord this food was disgusting. We ordered a tasteless noodle dish with dry ass fried chicken, it was the worst tasting Chinese food we have ever experienced. The doubles was just ok but extremely small (must of been a kid's portion) and over priced. If you want good Trini food recommend you go somewhere else. This place is the home of some delicious doubles. They have mixed ones with goat and chicken, I tend to prefer the original version with just chick peas. You can select your level of spice, and you can take out or dine in. Personally I feel that dining in is better if you are getting doubles, they just don't travel as well as other foods. SKIP THE DISHES ORDER - Sent us everything with pepper sauce (Tamarind chutney is a type of pepper infused sauce) then lied to skip the dishes and said everything has spices/pepper already in it. Tamarind sauces and chutney can be made without pepper, your store just chooses not to. This was our last order with Radicas. I am disappointed with their unethical behaviour. The following was my response to their attack and proof of their stupidity.*** Shiva :- We always put the same message and there is never a problem. Learn to read the message people enter, it's there for a reason. The app from skip the dishes forces you to choose an option. We are forced to choose a chutney type (Stated 'forced' for a reason, as we know it's made from pepper. Guess I need to make things VERY clear to you, as the common sense you want others to have, isn't applicable to you. Lol. Note Feburary 11th order pic. You understood that day. Lol. Or how about the March 25th order from UBER EATS. You understood that day too...Lol) and the 2nd option is No pepper/No sauces. You screwed up, take responsibility for your screw up. I've been craving a West Indies chicken roti for a while now, and today after reading some of the reviews of fellow Yelpers, I chose this "Hot & Spicy" location. Walking in I found myself the only white person in the place... But I often find myself the only white person in Brampton... so nothing changes much here. There are quite a few people sitting at the dine-in tables or standing around the counter waiting for their takeout order. The menu is an array of Indian/Caribbean fusion! Some items I cannot pronounce nor do I know what they are... Keep looking... Ah! Boneless Chicken Roti! I place my order and I have the option of spicy or no spicy! I obviously pick spicy as I have developed that part of my palette for many years now. It was a short wait before they called out my takeout order number. I left with the take out package noticing I had some significant weight in my hand. Arriving at home, I opened the delicious and HUGE roti onto a plate and sat down to my movie. My first bites were just the nice chewy flat bread wrap, complete with cornmeal confetti! Just the way I like it! As I get to the filling I can feel the spice hit my lips and tongue... YUM! I get my first bite of potato, the next is a morsel of tender chicken breast. The innerds of my roti explode with a beautiful blend of spice hotness and flavors. Ok so if I didn't tell you before this is a HUGE roti. I have presently taken a break after eating only half of it to write this review... Yelped this place when in the area and looking for a great HOT/SPICY vegetarian restaurant. Wow! No wonder locals flock here. Asked the owner for the veggie platter (Saturday special only 7.99) and had him choose my 5 veggie sides with Roti. Each and everyone of them was delicious and the roti was likely the best I have ever had. Their hot sauce was also delicious and quote hot served over all of the veggie sides. I picked up a bottle of the sauce for home and still have leftovers for tonight! Yum!! Let me say that I'm only giving a 4 star review because I haven't tried enough of the menu to make it 5. But I WILL! Today I went in there hangry, so I stuck to basics - doubles and my son had the boneless chicken roti. Fresh, delicious, not too greasy (like some doubles can be) and the perfect amount of spice. I can't wait to go back to try the shrimp doubles and some of the specials. Very friendly service (the owner was very nice to my teenaged son), clean, comfortable decor. We ate in, which we wouldn't have if the decor hadn't been so welcoming. They seem very busy, which is a good sign! I'd been meaning to give the place a try, and I'm very glad I did! There was big pieces of Bayleaf,onion skin and thyme stems in my one roti! The prices have all gone up but the quality has gone down!
