They started out in small offices in Hutt Street in the city square but for the last few years they have relocated to the Western outskirts of the city, to Hindmarsh. In its new home out of the city Radio 5MBS - the Music Broadcasting Society - has gone from strength to strength. They are always broadcasting 'fine music' mainly classical and jazz, and they are also always on the search for new members and subscribers because that's what keeps any community radio station going. The MBS network or concept is nation wide and you will find a station in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra broadcasting very similar music with local volunteers there. Maybe one reaches a certain age and starts to feel the need for only jazz and classical music? It hasn't happened to me yet, but I must admit it is a nice station to listen to, and now out of the city for a few years in their new Hindmarsh home, they are more relaxed all around. It is okay as far as sports coverage is concerned and the drive time shift from around 4 in the afternoon is pretty good. I do not enjoy the stupidity of some breakfast presenters and I loath talk back radio if it is all about negative content and people hating everything new or different, so I'm not a big fan of the talk back I've sat through; ultimately it is the music that is good at times, reflects a sort of top 100 style from the last few decades.

The central counter has lots of paraphernalia on and around it, the incidental items you may miss if they were placed elsewhere. It is also a licenced lottery agenc and no matter how many times I ask for the winning ticket, so far it hasn't happened! On the other opposite side of the counter is the giftware area, which has an adequate range of last minute gift choices.

Luckily, I have drive, a writing addiction, and important information given to me by customer attendants for previous reviews, to remember. Great store for a writer like me. I've been here before several times pretty much just for essential items like the odd multitrip bus ticket, stationery or magazines. The Rundle Mall Plaza Newsagency does feel a little bit empty each time and somewhere you don't want to hang around for too long. Upon walking in, you are emerged in a very quiet culture, complete with several rows of mindless magazines and greeting cards for less than half an hour of fun. I managed to walk around the crowd a bit, to get to the area known as "the great wall of pens", that holds plenty of different coloured pens, pencils, and other stationery. A perfect place to take a visiting guest or regular who has the "writing itch" to scratch off...it'll bring out the inner writer within.

Now, as a bloke, I've noticed that some news agencies have very little in the way of reading material for the fellas. They almost all, pretty much without exception, have stacks of women's magazines. That never really changes. A lot of places limit their mens range to *those* magazines that are wrapped in plastic (apparently to seal in the badness), and maybe a couple of magazines for the dude who likes V8s and other pushrod-powered dinosaurs. Not that's there's anything wrong with them. I've got some varied tastes as a car nut, but the same old Aussie muscle car mags just don't do it for me. So when I walked in here, I wasn't expecting much. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did they have some of the harder to get stuff (like some of the US based VW mags), they had plenty of copies of each. I walked out with my copy of ACVWs, Zoom and HPI, as well as a PC magazine. This place has some real variety. I'll be going back again next time I'm in Adelaide.

While the store isn't huge, it does have a top selection of magazines across all genres. They even stock my all-time favourite magazine, Lula, which can be hard to find in Oz. There are lots of imports and at pretty good prices too. The staff are super friendly and helpful as well, especially red-head chick (sorry I don't know your name, red-head chick!). Worth a glance even if you're not hoping on board a train.

You can grab bus timetables from here as well and there is probably one of the best ranges of pens at this newsagent too. Was a little disappointed with the small range of cardboard however with another newsagency at Woodcroft Town Center, this isn't too bad. They do dry cleaning here however it can really vary in quality. I have had both good and bad experiences with that program however it generally turns out ok. When I take all the factors into consideration, then this newsagency passes as satisfactory however be forewarned as some things can be below satisfactory (like the service sometimes and the dry cleaning service) whereas somethings can be above satisfactory (like the range of computer and technology magazines and the fact I once found an in-date magazine here below the RRP by $5!!)

It has your usual magazines, newspaper supply, stationaries and the Lotto tickets (sorry boring!) for those who fancies this sort of gambling. If you're looking for an Adelaide themed calendar they have plenty here and at great prices too. You'll also find small gifts and the usual knick knacks which is perfect for those last minute shopping. Kids usually come to this stall to collect a free 20cents to deposit at the nearby weighing machine. Overall experience: a-okay!

I usually drop in here in a hurry looking for some stationery item for work. It is a good work out as my supplies are usually down the back of the shop. They have a great selection of coloured paper, folders,tags etc. and I can usually find what I am after without having to venture to Officeworks. The owners are friendly and helpful. The only thing to be careful of is that I generally miss the entrance as it has a table full of gift ware, even though it is primarily a paper store, Having said that it also stocks a lot of touristy gift ware but it is not a place I would generally go to find a present.
