When I was FINALLY called in the actual emergency area, I was directed to a gurney in the passageway in front of a nurses' station where I had to wait some more time, about 20 minutes or so before seeing a very nice doctor, very briefly. He unwrapped my hand & commenting that the person who cleaned and treated my hand did a very good job bandaging up the wounds.

When you check in, it is usually with a really cheerful person. Then you are called back by a moderately friendly nurse? CNA? Not sure which and they bring you back. The last time I was there I watched the nurse play on Facebook for 2 hours while we waited... for check out papers. That's it, check out papers. Also, the female doctor there- always makes a snarky comment to me. Once she said that she could not believe that I drove my daughter there and didn't get an ambulance to the ER (my child is 15 and fell during practice- she had a mild concussion) I told her that I didn't know, the coach said to go there. Other times the comments have been more along the lines of- this is something her primary doctor could attend to. I am not an idiot, but sometimes my doctor can't squeeze us in. This last time- my daughter fell at practice and her doctor told me to go there (I called her first). When we arrived it was a male doctor that ordered X-rays and then the shift changed. Here she is again- this time she says, "you must want your child to have cancer in her 40's. You really don't need to get an X-ray of everything." I again am not a doctor, I didn't order the X-rays. Needless to say, I'm not going back. I'll drive to the one in Yarmouth or take my chances in the ER.

Honestly the more often I am seen here the more I love it…read more I recently was suffering from a bronchial flu. Like a hideous combo of bronchitis and the flu. I had been in bed for two days and was due back at work but knew I couldn't make it thru an hour of it so I drove to the hospital. It's early afternoon on a Thursday and they had a 3 hour wait in the ER. Well I was absolutely too sick to sit in a waiting room for 3 hours- and that's just to get to step one. So I got back in my car and called Maine Med family practice and found out that they do have urgent care so I could be seen that day at a designated time just by a different doctor- but one with my records on hand. So much better . Seriously unless it's 3am and I'm in an accident I would ALWAYS prefer to just use my urgent care!! So today I had my physical. I received 3 vaccinations and was totally happy to realize the importance of having a regular doctor at a decent hospital. Going over the paperwork they gave me while there I realized that in the last few months they had amassed my entire medical history. I lived seeing shots I received in 1988. I don't have to remember that my Tetanus was due this year. They reminded me. Maybe it cuz I'm from a big city in California but insurance for me there always meant ER visits or clinic visits. Never this personalized care. They called me to set up the appt for my yearly physical. I didn't have to remember. Gotta love that. One less thing on the calendar to set reminders for.

Even food service rocked. Still does. Impromptu visit to put me through tests in the morning. So stuck in my room with a view. Lunch was served, per request and it sounded yummy. It was in my room in what seemed like a matter of minutes and looked great. Nothing fancy with the presentation but with COVID they take all the precautions. Let me tell you. That was the best veggie burger and low sodium tomato soup ever. Heart healthy for sure. But yummy. I wish I had ordered more. But Instill have dinner. Thanks for taking care of me again!

My complaints do not have to do with the…read moremedical care at either the MaineHealth Hospital in Biddeford (late 2025) or Maine Med in Spring 2020. My issues have to do with administrative and billing nightmares. Between my two times at MaineMed facilities, I changed my name legally because of divorce. MaineMed refuses to update that but updated my insurance (with my legal name as of 3.5 years then) and my address but wouldn't update the name change. I have asked them to: 1.) Send bills in the correct name, as I would no longer be paying the bills for someone that doesn't legally exist and 2.) Send me an updated payments against account. It took four months to get that (even though I was promised that it was on its way in a phone call March 6th from a Patient Financial Services person) and it was sent certified mail to the same person who doesn't legally exist. Meanwhile, I have sent two rounds of certified mail to three different MaineHealth offices, including executives. Not one single receipt was sent back to me. (I sent the second set about two weeks ago.) I have told them repeatedly, in writing, that I would not pay on an account that was not legally mine, according to MaineHealth. I did pay some toward the balance, but MaineHealth has responded to NONE of my 12 written outreaches since the beginning of the year. Yet, MaineHealth's Patient Financial Services office has run credit checks on me three times (because the person to whom they address everything doesn't legally exist) and has threatened to send the account to collections, all while taking months to do one part of my request and not honoring any of the others. I also told them, repeatedly, in writing that once these issues were resolved and the name updated, I would send them a check for the balance. I made it clear that not paying the balance was my leverage. It is clear to me that the MaineHealth organization does not actually care about patients, just about money and process. Disgusting organization from an administrative standpoint.
