My first PCP was fired or quit, they "referred me to another doctor, moving my appoint out 6 months from when my appointment should have been, That doctor left and now I am on my third PCP in under 2 years. On the first visit, no one ever took my medical history, never asked any questions pertaining to the issues I shared (just took notes) and was extremely dismissive and condecending. Don't expect them to spend more than 15 minutes with you. No time to care for the patient when you need to make your patient quota!

It is not a fringe or obscure plan -- it is coverage earned through real sacrifice. To be turned away from this practice simply because they don't accept ChampVA was a gut punch. We aren't asking for special treatment. We are asking to be treated like any other patient. When a medical practice chooses not to accept insurance that covers veterans' families, it sends a clear message about who they value -- and this practice has made that message loud and clear. I urge this practice to reconsider its insurance policies and think about the veterans and military families in this community who deserve access to quality care.

When I was FINALLY called in the actual emergency area, I was directed to a gurney in the passageway in front of a nurses' station where I had to wait some more time, about 20 minutes or so before seeing a very nice doctor, very briefly. He unwrapped my hand & commenting that the person who cleaned and treated my hand did a very good job bandaging up the wounds.

When you check in, it is usually with a really cheerful person. Then you are called back by a moderately friendly nurse? CNA? Not sure which and they bring you back. The last time I was there I watched the nurse play on Facebook for 2 hours while we waited... for check out papers. That's it, check out papers. Also, the female doctor there- always makes a snarky comment to me. Once she said that she could not believe that I drove my daughter there and didn't get an ambulance to the ER (my child is 15 and fell during practice- she had a mild concussion) I told her that I didn't know, the coach said to go there. Other times the comments have been more along the lines of- this is something her primary doctor could attend to. I am not an idiot, but sometimes my doctor can't squeeze us in. This last time- my daughter fell at practice and her doctor told me to go there (I called her first). When we arrived it was a male doctor that ordered X-rays and then the shift changed. Here she is again- this time she says, "you must want your child to have cancer in her 40's. You really don't need to get an X-ray of everything." I again am not a doctor, I didn't order the X-rays. Needless to say, I'm not going back. I'll drive to the one in Yarmouth or take my chances in the ER.

Honestly the more often I am seen here the more I love it…read more I recently was suffering from a bronchial flu. Like a hideous combo of bronchitis and the flu. I had been in bed for two days and was due back at work but knew I couldn't make it thru an hour of it so I drove to the hospital. It's early afternoon on a Thursday and they had a 3 hour wait in the ER. Well I was absolutely too sick to sit in a waiting room for 3 hours- and that's just to get to step one. So I got back in my car and called Maine Med family practice and found out that they do have urgent care so I could be seen that day at a designated time just by a different doctor- but one with my records on hand. So much better . Seriously unless it's 3am and I'm in an accident I would ALWAYS prefer to just use my urgent care!! So today I had my physical. I received 3 vaccinations and was totally happy to realize the importance of having a regular doctor at a decent hospital. Going over the paperwork they gave me while there I realized that in the last few months they had amassed my entire medical history. I lived seeing shots I received in 1988. I don't have to remember that my Tetanus was due this year. They reminded me. Maybe it cuz I'm from a big city in California but insurance for me there always meant ER visits or clinic visits. Never this personalized care. They called me to set up the appt for my yearly physical. I didn't have to remember. Gotta love that. One less thing on the calendar to set reminders for.

Once they saw him, he was rushed into surgery immediately. 5 hours as his appendix was going is awful!! I know that wait times are very long in ER's everywhere and that's the norm, but to leave someone who is acute needing emergency surgery and in dire pain for that long is inexcusable. There were patients everywhere laying in the hallways and not enough beds or staff. Is this place dangerously understaffed? Care seems severely compromised here.
