    Broken treadmills for weeks
    Lina S.

Radius could do things right, but they just don't. They have the best location in Seattle at their disposal, located right on Amazon HQ's campus, and super convenient commute for many other companies, located right between the C line, the 40 and the 70. They have an amazing building with tons of space in the parking lot, still brand new doors, walls and appliances, compared to the growing competition in SLU, they can still remain awesome, but their recent management has just forced them to go downhill. Further and further. From little things such as charging you the full clean out fee upon moving out despite tenants leaving spotless apartments (you've been warned, don't bother scrubbing those stains for 5 hours), treating new tenants with preference over existing residents to get that commission in (no sense of loyalty), and just the lack of actual amenities! The common rooms are beautiful, but they're upkept like shit, no one puts away the pillows on the deck so they're gross and wet from the weather (and snow in the winter! whatt?/? Put them away for the season!!) The gyms WERE great, but first, all the treadmills were down for weeks last Fall. Next, they installed Peloton bikes so if you want to bike you HAVE to subscribe to a $40/month membership. (Wtf, stop nickel and diming residents!) They have all the potential for safe and secure bike rooms in the garage, but they choose to put in shit racks out in the open to the public (P2 doesnt even lock the door, people) so I refuse to leave my bike there. Even the storage rooms are great, located on each floor, yet management chooses to fill them up with crap from the furnished summer apts, so even if you want to pay for one, its impossible to find it convenient to you, on your floor. Frankly, the only reason I'd stay is because of the Community Events hosted by Apartment Life each week. Although most are just sponsored ads for local businesses, they still offer a great way to get to know your neighbors and socialize locally. Plus the hosts are awesome! Radius, you can do better. I've heard it WAS better. Step up your game and be better to your tenants, or else the increasing rate of move-outs will only grow.

Do yourself a favor and DON'T live here. The move-out charges are ridiculous and a total scam. We read all the reviews about the unreasonable move-out charges, so we took the time to ensure our apartment was spotless when we moved out. We also insisted on the community manager (Carissa) performing a move-out inspection, and she told us it was the cleanest apartment she had ever seen during a move-out inspection. She also said that we would not be charged anything other than a standard cleaning fee. Imagine our surprise when we received a $700+ fee that included $240 for cleaning and $275 just for paint touch-ups! (See picture of bill breakdown.) We are careful, clean renters. We did not hang any pictures/drill holes in the walls. We don't even wear shoes in the apartment. Why were we charged these absurd fees?? Because the management group at Radius is unethical and cheats their tenants. Renters beware!

Here's what they'll do with your packages around the holidays

UPDATE: The day after posting this review (7/10/17) the leasing staff approached me and my husband to apologize and check in. Not only did they immediately see my review but they were really interested in how they could make things better. Needless to say I'm both impressed and grateful. Bumping my review up to 4 stars! Currently living here - about 1 year into an 18 month lease. Over the past year management has changed over twice, and there's only a couple people in the leasing office worth talking to. (Kim Thurber specifically is really competent and the only person I genuinely believe cares about the residents) The pro's of living here are the beautiful apartments (gas range etc.) and the convenient location. The con's are many: Rude Staff: This is me and my husband's #1 complaint. Every communication that comes from the office is blatantly rude. I've uploaded two pictures with screenshots if you're curious. The most recent one came today regarding the trash room on our floor...which is apparently, full of trash. They wanted residents to alert them to the problem, but they have never responded to any request I've sent, including when our storage unit was robbed last month - which brings me to my 2nd point... We Got Robbed: Our storage unit (it's a locked unit in a locked room on our floor) was broken into and a bunch of our expensive camping equipment was stolen. We notified the leasing office immediately - and subsequently multiple times as we've been trying to get our renter's insurance claim sorted out. They have NEVER responded to me - not once. Construction: Literally on EVERY street surrounding the building. This means very loud noise 7 days a week, even before 6am and after 10pm - WAY outside of Seattle noise restrictions, probably because this is a mixed use commercial/residential area. There is also very minimal parking given that it's usually blocked off for construction or otherwise restricted. Packages: Recently they've stopped sending email notifications when they receive packages. If you are someone who receives a lot of packages you better stay on top of your tracking numbers, otherwise you'll never know if one has been delivered. Check out my other picture I uploaded where they threaten to return your packages back to sender over the holidays if they aren't picked up fast enough. People travel over the holidays - 48 hour pick up is not reasonable. Notice To Enter: They also come in to "inspect" minimum once a month. Some months it's up to 3 times. I've never lived somewhere where they needed so much access to our apartment. I should have saved a few of their notices and posted those here as well - will update with the next batch. In summary I'd say this is pretty par for the course for $3K a month in Seattle - a nice building surrounded by loud construction and a young/inexperienced leasing staff.

I couldn't make a resident event today that me and my puppy have been looking forward to. I open my front door and I have an AMAZING goodie bag left for my dog!! I've only lived here for a short time but it made me feel so welcomed and cared for! Living here has been a fantastic experience and a special thanks to Gage the assistant manager and Madeline in the office as well as their leasing manager!

When I moved out, they claimed several hours of sanding work required for repainting and were evasive about providing evidence that it actually took so long. Every lease renewal saw a giant jump in rates (9.9% one year), which we negotiated back down to sane levels. They use algorithmic pricing designed to worsen the housing crisis while maximizing their profits. They also recently decided to stop offering affordable housing units under the MFTE program. Building was frequently under repair, including elevators being out of service for months, which was incredibly difficult when my partner was recovering from knee surgery. The units, which are now finally undergoing renovation, were poorly lit with low quality fixtures like plastic track lights, vinyl flooring, and a prison shower head. The original office staff were quite unhelpful and antagonistic, prioritizing nagging residents about hallway door decorations (while simultaneously awarding prizes for holiday decorations??). This has improved with almost complete turnover in staffing. Maintenance staff have always been very responsive and helpful. Regarding Capitol Hill itself, the value of the neighborhood has really declined. If you want to pay $4,000/mo to live in walking distance of 15 boba tea shops and national fried chicken chains while ignoring the human misery all around you, go for it I guess.

Overall, it's been a good experience but there are so many things that make this place not worth the price tag. Pros: Location- Great spot and walkable to so much. Tenants- good people and high probability of making friends. Young professionals, dog lovers Thick walls: I rarely hear my neighbors -- very, very rare. Aesthetics: the apartments themselves look really nice Washer/dryer: in unit and actually good quality. I've had some awful laundry units in apartments but these are legit and work well. Cons: Break ins: I am not exaggerating when I say tenants are constantly getting their bikes stolen, it's a monthly occurrence at least. (Theres bike storage in the garage for tenants ) Storage in the apartment: it's crazy how much planning did not go into the actual apartment. For example: my pantry is a closet that has zero shelves....my bedroom closet didn't have a full hanger rack when I moved in. Little things that make zero sense. Some kitchens barely have a drawer for silverware. Things that you may not notice while doing a walk thru but notice once you move in. No AC or ventilation: this is common in Seattle, I get it but please pay attention to what direction your apartment faces. I face west and live in a loft. Heat rises. It is miserable hot. It can be 70 degrees outside but 78 inside because of the lack of airflow. Even with an AC unit (these help but you better keep all the shades down and keep it running ALLLL day/night - plus depending on your setup, you may have to move furniture around to use an AC unit) The complex has AC units available to rent ... it isn't even that hot yet and it's already hard to get my bedroom (upstairs) under 72 degrees by 9pm. The complex should offer free AC units with how hot these apartments get. When it's nice/window season, you may not want to open your window because of how loud the road is. Even on the 4th floor, if you leave your balcony door/windows open, you will wake up from traffic/buses/people on 24th and 65th. It's not quiet...at all. Amenities: these have gotten better but still not great compared to what you can get at other places. They have done some work on the rooftop but it's still just fine. No gym, TVs aren't great, etc. The building itself needs new carpet/fresh paint on the walls. Look at the stairwells. Yes, I'm being picky but for the price, it should look better. As a whole, these apartments are fine but overpriced for what they are. You are paying for location and a "good looking" apartment. For the price, they should come with AC units, have more amenities, and updates in the actual building. Management and maintenance are good, I haven't had any issues there. This review isn't meant to bash BPL but give future residents a heads up and an honest expectation of what it's like to live here. I wouldn't choose an East (am sun) or West (pm sun) facing loft apartment. Seriously, too hot. I bet south facing is your best bet (less busy road, no direct sun). Lofts are cute but I'd suggest a flat. Hope this helps!

When I looked it up on Yelp for the first time I was a bit suspicious it had such high ratings but now I know they're justified. BACKGROUND - I am a Seattle transplant. Just graduated and just moved here fresh out of college. I wanted to live somewhere affordable, convenient, nice and still close enough to where all the fun stuff was. I looked at Cap Hill and the prices were outrageous. So the I landed on NAMU from an ad on Craigslist. LOCATION - around 5-10 minute drive from downtown Seattle and downtown Capitol Hill. Close enough for a short bus ride or a cheap Uber pool. If you check on the walk score it's around high 80s and the crime rate for the area is really low. Generally, it's closer to the suburbs. It's quiet at night because of that but occasionally there will be a siren once a week or people yelling once in a blue moon. But generally, really quiet. CONVENIENCE- I live right next to Safeway and can walk there in under 30 seconds which has saved my life many times. There's also a cute plant shop downstairs if you like plants and a Dominos pizza is opening soon, there's a Vietnamese sandwich place near the Safeway as well. The Safeway is open late which is great. There's also a YMCA a block away if you want to workout nearby! APT AMENITIES - in terms of amenities it is solid given how much rent you are paying. There's a bike rack, and a nice rooftop. None of my packages have EVER been stolen from the lobby and I've see packages left there for days so everyone in the building respects that. You can pay extra for storage and the laundry machines are on the 2nd and 3rd floor, which TAKE CARD. Generally they are full on the weekends but I haven't had an issue waiting long times for laundry. There's no pool, or lounge, trash chute or gym. The only things I wish the room had: an oven, a dishwasher (I just do my dishes by hand), and a closet. But I've adjusted. If you need these things to survive, consider that before you move in or if you have a ton of stuff / furniture / clothes because it likely won't fit. NOISE - Honestly, I'm assuming the insulation is top notch because I've heard my neighbors maybe once. ROOMS - The apartment was made in 2015 or something. I moved in 2017 and was the second tenant ever! The rooms are small, around 250-300sqft but I have enough room for a full-size bed, a queen size futon, a wardrobe hanger, and a small dining table and a bookshelf and no issues. It's a perfect studio for a single person and more than enough room to be comfy. Note there isn't a closet though so you'll have to make do with a buy your own closet thing. I really appreciate the mini fridge as it is honestly big enough for one person and since I live by Safeway I never really needed too much space anyway. The bathrooms are clean and modern and there's a big window too which is really nice in the mornings. LANDLADY / MAINTENANCE - This is what prompted me to write this review. The landlady, Sonya, has been nothing but incredible and responsive. She texts back almost immediately and even helped me once when I locked myself out of my room at midnight, and helped me get a package when I accidentally locked it. She's very thoughtful and kind and honestly I never knew how awesome thanks would be to have a great landlady until I met her! She also schedules maintenance once you report a problem to her. The maintenance guy, Mike, lives in the complex and shows up right on time to help fix your issues and is polite and nice. There was an incident where our hot water heater stopped working for around a day and Sonya immediately notified all the residents on the situation and provided suggestions for other solutions. And she even decorated the front door and lobby with a Christmas tree for the holidays!! Tldr - This is a great place to live if you're moving to Seattle as a single person. The rooms are "small" but modern, clean, and more than enough space for a studio. The facilities are brand new, and the landlady is awesome. The rent is affordable and I've I'm very happy living here and feel safe.

The location is incredible - close to the Space Needle and bars, but just far enough to still enjoy quiet nights. Plus, the prices are VERY competitive compared to other places nearby. Oliver from the front office is incredibly friendly and helpful. I wasn't going to be able to view the available units in person, and he sent me a very well taken, detailed video of the interior. He answered all my questions and really made sure that my moves, both in and out, were extremely smooth. Maintenance was also prompt and always made sure that everything was fixed within 1-2 business days! Now for the apartment itself - it was much larger than any other options nearby, and it was really nice! The unit looked a bit old but clean and functional in the video, but I was wrong... it wasn't old at all! The apartment was MUCH newer, brighter, and more updated than I anticipated - the best kind of surprise. I rarely ever heard my neighbors, always had power, and I especially loved that I had a massive pantry in the kitchen. My balcony faced 4th Ave, which leads directly to the Space Needle. I especially loved that you didn't need to pay to book the clubhouse for personal events, as it made hosting larger groups for meals a lot easier! I was truly heartbroken to leave Sidney when work relocated me to Texas. It's a wonderful complex, and I highly, HIGHLY recommend!! If I ever move back, you know where I'll be living.

The Sidney is close to so many restaurants and shops and in fact, on the first floor, is Uptown Espresso. A cute little coffee shop that I would just walk down to every morning. Super convenient! The staff is what stands out about this building the most. The Property Manager is one of the best I've ever encountered. Always helpful and happy to assist. This type of management style has obviously transferred down from the manager, as the maintenance and leasing personnel are just as friendly and helpful. Overall, a wonderful living experience!
