It's like going to a gas station for sushi. No Service. Fill your own drinks, get your own utensils. The pasta sauce was cheap jar sauce or a great imitation of it. Used stale hoggie buns for garlic bread. Same thing you can get at the frozen food section at Walmart. read more

I just paid $43 for two pizzas. Two. That's it. Not four. Two. That's all they gave us and refused to give us the second pizzas and were rude about being asked about the change. That's unacceptable. We're not in a major metro area that can justify those prices for that quantity. I've always been a fan of their pizza-- it is good. The price is high-- but you had the second pizza deal and that justified their considerably-higher-than-competion prices. Now it's been switched to just cheese pizza as the second one but there is no clarity on this change when ordering and the signage is confusing. And, you have to TELL them you want the second pizza-- like a secret code. Secret codes are for cereal box toys, not pizza parlors. This experience was unacceptable, folks. Love the pizza. Got .69 cent wings on Monday and has buy one get one pizza for small pizzas and any size bigger than that. Pizza is worth a little 20-25 minute wait. Definitely recommend! read more

I have given this place two tries in the past several months. It's just bad re-heated crap sold for too much money. I saw the back kitchen door opened up to the outside (a heath code violation) and someone cutting something without gloves or anything. He was dirty, at best. Even after seeing that I figured I give it one more try. Well, when I got was expensive and just terrible. Stale, microwaved "food". Maybe their pizza is better, so if you insist on going there, stick with that! It's obvious the "new" people working there just don't care. The locals need to stop giving these people money. If you want some food poisoning, this is your place. If you want actual good food, go somewhere else. read more

I've never eaten at Rafael's, but I did work there for 4 months. At first, I was excited to be working at an Italian restaurant. Even though I still had to pay full price for the food, we usually had extra pasta or breadsticks and I got free drinks. However, that excitement quickly dimmed when I saw how unsanitary everything was. There were roaches crawling behind the register, in the lobby, in the bathrooms, in the kitchen... They were everywhere. And I don't just mean that there were a couple at one time. They're in the walls and if you push the booths a bit, you'll find them there too. Just as a disclaimer, I'm just trying to give everyone a warning about the conditions here so they don't end up finding a roach or any other bugs in their food. I've ordered through Rafaels for 15 years at least and today I've dealt with the worst customer service of my life. After coming home and realizing my husbands order wasn't at all correct, the response I got was "the way the guy wrote it down looked like this". There was no apology. And refused to make it right, which I thought a full refund ($20) for my time to go all the way back and back home again for something that was their fault was more than fair. Instead I got a "calm down" and a "there's no way I can do that". Unbelievable for a place I've gone to for so long. My husband now refuses to go there again. Having just moved to Chattanooga, I'm seeking out all the local eateries. Raphael's showed up on Yelp and being just down the road I gave it a go. I ordered the fettuccini alfredo with shrimp and chicken; my fiancé ordered the personal pan supreme with cheese sticks. My dish lacked flavor. Biting into a shrimp tail was something I was not expecting and the chicken was boiled. My fiancé's personal pan was good, but nothing to write home about. What made the cheese sticks cheese sticks was an actual slice of cheese, not fully melted, placed on top. Personally, the greatest part of the dinner was the marinara dipping sauce provided with the bread. Even though I wasn't anticipating mouth watering food, I had hoped for more. Went there for dinner on a Friday night. There was a fairly large crowd at 7:00pm! Service is by counter order. Menu has a wide variety, with Italian and Mexican dishes. I order the chicken parm and my wife a calzone. The chicken parm was average... a fried chicken filet with cheese and sauce. The sauce is okay. Not the best but certainly not the worst. The calzone was made with a tasty crust and had good flavor. Finally, the prices are very reasonable. read more

New to town, so I was excited to try a family owned Italian place that has been open for years.. to get a broad taste of the menu, we ordered a small Greek salad, chicken fettuccine alfredo, and a personal size house special pizza. To be as polite as possible, only order pizza here. Steer clear of alfredo, the free breadsticks that accompany it, and the head of iceberg lettuce with packaged dressing. I am a firm believer that Greek salads should be served (or at least have the option) with Greek dressing! You are better off at Olive Garden for pasta, bread, and salad! read more

Myself and a couple of colleagues were in the mood for pizza the other night. We were sorting through the pizza places we normally go to when someone suggested this place (me). I know it's not the usual pizza place, but I knew they had buy one get one special, and I didn't have a lot of dough to spend (boom crash!). So we went about 6:30 and the place was jammin'. We placed our order at the front counter and though I think we may have caused a little confusion to the young lady when we asked to split the bill on her new shiny computer. She wasn't sure how to do it, and it didn't appear that she was going to ask anyone who did know how. So we sorted it out between us and moved on. Even though the place was absolutely packed, our simple pepperoni pizzas came out in a reasonable amount of time and all of our orders were correct. The price was right $16 for two small pepperonis and two fountain drinks. And--the pizza was very decent. Nothing flashy, but the sauce is pretty good and PLENTY of cheese and toppings. Yummy. Use to think they had the best pizza around the Red Bank / Hixson area. But after my last three visits, I will not be back. Ordered 8 pizzas the day before the Super Bowl. Took in a written list of what I wanted, including that they run through twice to make sure the crust was done. Twice before on call in orders I had asked the same thing. The time before, I had ordered the Chef Special with not onions and to run through twice. Well - picked up my order, got home and the pizza was loaded with onions and the crust was floppy. For the Super Bowl order, thought for sure that since it was written down, they would get it right. Even the young lady that took my order, duplicated my instructions. NOPE! None of the 8 pizzas had been baked twice, the crust were not done and served some floppy pizzas to my quest. The young man behind the counter was nice. They tried to run through again, but since that had already been sliced, could not do so. Been going there for many years, but not again. If you want your order right, go somewhere else! read more

Love the calzone! It's made to order, stuffed with plenty of cheese! I always get vegetarian & add Italian sausage -never a bad choice. They have lots of other good stuff to choose from, and the Greek salad is good too. Prices are very fair. Glad they are in my part of town! read more
