I made the mistake of stopping here today for lunch. First off, it is 100% self service. No one said a word to us after we sat down. After a few minutes, we realized we had to walk to the counter and place our orders. My wife and I ordered lasagna that was pretty tasteless. I'd rather have Stouffer's any day. The total for this microwave food and two sodas was $33.93 including tax and a 4% service charge. Service charge? For what? I should have looked at my receipt before leaving. Pizza is pretty good, but we felt scammed... It says Buy One Get One Free inside their restaurant and on their marketing, but we were told when we got there to pick up our order that it's actually Buy Two, Get One Free. I don't know if this was a misunderstanding by the staff or just false advertising. We ordered 3 large pizzas and asked them to duplicate each one for the BOGO, and confirmed that we would be picking up 6 pizzas for our party. We got there and only three pizzas were ready. The waitress was helpful and rushed the order when we had to re-order everything, but we ended up paying twice as much as expected and showing up late to our own party. Please fix everything that says BOGO because it is just false. It also says "BOGO not optional online" which is vague - it should say BOGO not available online. We went through the trouble of canceling our Slice order and ordering over the phone because we were told we would get the BOGO (which we didn't). read more

Ive gotten food from Rafael's for years. Delivered, carry out, or dine in. My least favorite is to dine in. Our power was off so we decided to go to Rafael's and eat as it's the closest restaurant for us. There were about 10 people inside, one cook, one busboy or kitchen helper, and the young man at the counter. I ordered a large Chefs Salad with an appetizer combo. My wife order fried pickles and meatball sub. My food came out several minutes before hers and her pickles came with the sandwich. Her "meatball" sub had no meatballs, and no marinara, the meat which was mushy and didn't have a beef or Italian flavor. The cheese appeared to be either feta or mozzarella but a heavy read and white sauce masked the flavor. She went to the counter and the young man who is cashier, waiter, and who knows what else said, "yup , that's what a meatball sub looks like" I hope the management gets their act together. read more

We are new to the area, so we have been trying restaurants we know nothing about. And this was one of them. Let's talk about the menu first. It is just way too big, too many choices. Italian food, Greek food, and American. It's like they are trying to do too much. We shared a Gyro. Very disappointing. It's not a complicated sandwich, but they managed to get it wrong. The meat was dry and stiff. And instead of lettuce and tomatoes, ours came with sliced green peppers and onions. I can say that the sauce was good, but the sandwich overall was a disappointment. The service however was excellent. The young man that waited on us was friendly and took care of whatever needs we had quickly. The inside of the place is kind of like the menu...you're not really sure what they are trying to convey. This one is off our list of keepers. read more

By the allspark I can't believe it took me so long to try this local flavor. Usually my wife and I or Papa John's or Domino's people. How long I have been mistaken and followed the wrong route. Rafael's is some of the best sausage on a pizza I've ever had. Maybe I like a two-for-one deal that is very affordable for a family. They have a whole lot of other items besides just pizza, but I didn't try any of that don't really care about it at the moment. While we were there, their staff was incredibly courteous and polite. We went in a little bit before 9pm.. they don't close til 10.. There was another older couple eating.. I'm not one to complain EVER about another business BUT my family has restaurants.. all the chairs were up on tables and not just other areas but directly at our feet the girl was mopping using straight ammonia.. after mentioning it they still continued to mop where we had to leave.. our eyes were watering it was so bad... There were two little kids , the owners kids, who were jumping off booths sliding on the wet floors screaming running past the tables... Chicken caesar salad was tasty and fresh. First time ever for tomatoes in a caesar salad, but easy enough to pick off and put aside. Clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Charming decor and layout, but older place with odd odor. Did not smell dirty or musty, but definitely not pleasing. Made it hard to eat inside. A turnoff. Self order at counter. After some thought I am going to update my review. I don't like their pizza. That kept me from giving them 4 stars because I guess I feel with that rating they should do everything well. I ordered yet a different sandwich today and decided I am being harsh. I think their sandwiches are some of the best and they have really good fries. The Greek salad is also good, though a tad too much cheese and not enough olives and the carrot pieces are strange, I just remove those. My wife and I stopped eating at this restaurant after the owner, Rick, passed away. He was always friendly and managed this restaurant well. Upon his demise, whoever took over this restaurant, raised prices and the food went downhill. We started getting food that was precooked and sometimes was coming out cold. We had eaten there for years. I've noticed that Rafael's in Soddy Daisy has fewer patrons every time that I drive by. This restaurant will not honor its prices listed on its displayed menu. I would give it zero stars if I could. They have a special of buy one small, medium or large pizza and get one free. That does not apply to their personal size pizza. It states on the menu that if you order only one pizza you will receive a 30% discount on the pizza. I ordered one small pizza and they refused to give me the discount. They claimed it only applied to the personal size pizza. This does not make sense if you don't get buy one get one on the personal size pizza. I will never give them my business again. By the way, I left without the food I ordered. read more

Upon request of the chicken the blonde girl proceeded talk shit behind the counter. I could hear her from my table . They must have gotten a new cook the past few months, because I always order the same things, but the personal pan pizza crust has gotten bigger and bigger, while the toppings have gotten less and less. I keep getting the hard part of the onion, and end up pulling them out, despite the fact that I love onions. The calzone doesn't even taste the same - same hard onions (huge pieces) and a glop of ricotta instead of it being nicely combined with the rest of the cheese. This is my favorite of their locations luckily closest to home as well. I get the buffalo chicken pizza which is sadly only available at this location. Sometimes the chicken on it is a bit on the dry side but even then it's my fav. We love the buy one get one pizza with 15-20 for 2 pizzas it is a steal. Have been there 3 times. They are okay. Had a young guy working counter. Asked what was the steak sandwich. He seemed very confused. I said, what kind of steak? He didn't understand. I said " what cut of steak, how is the steak preared?" He was still confused. He finally comes out with Philly cheese steak with peppers and onions. I lost my faith then. Being raise in Hixson and going for pizza at Rafael's for years I am sad to say after our last visit we may never return . My wife is a fantastic chef and creates some fine meals . But when it came to pizza we now used to drive after moving to Crossville, Tn 68 miles for Rafael's great pizza . Bu last week we returned to Rafael's in Soddy Daisy after a year absence . But when we got our two pizzas we were quite disappointed. Something was different with the crust . Instaed of the pizza dough being hand formed into a pizza classic round shape the pizza dough in now put in a pan and formed . It seemed as though Rafael's had changed their dough recipe as the pizza's crust was no longer the fabulous crust it once was . I haven't been to pizza hut in 30 years but now Rafael's pizza taste like the terrible pizzas fro pizza hut . My wife's pizza dough taste fat better than Rafael's now does. I regret to say we will not be back to Rafael's unless we are assured they have changed back to their old pizza which was fabulous . read more

I grew up in the Soddy Daisy area a stone's throw from Rafiel's and have been eating there since I was a kid. Their food is superb and always tastes fresh. Almost 20 years as a customer and I've never had a bad experience. Excellent pita bread and feta and pasta dishes; my favorite has always been the fettuccine alfredo. Their pizza is excellent as well - really everything is just GOOD with great prices and a nice selection. read more
