While visiting Mom last month, we decided to try a new pizza place for delivery while watching a movie on a rainy evening. We're both picky about our pizza. She ordered a personal size veggie pizza and I got a customized one with eggplant, green peppers, and white sauce. She said hers was almost all cheese. Mine was uniquely delicious! My family and I was stopped on a road trip and staying nearby at element hotel when we were in need of a late night dinner. So pizza was a safe call. We like to eat local when traveling and this place was nearby so we called in a pickup order since it was close to closing time. We ordered a large cheese pizza, Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, and my oldest got a Gyro on a Pita. The establishment was located in a very empty almost abandoned looking shopping center. We walked in there was one worker who greeted us. Outside of that the place was empty and ready for closing. Decor was traditional Italian themed and had some dining in options. Service wise was ok. The worker was friendly and the food took about 5-10 min longer than quoted. Taste wise the pizza was very average. Almost akin to oven pizza from a department store. My wife said her spaghetti was also bland and just ok. My daughter did enjoy her pita though. So she was satisfied more than the rest of us. Overall it did the trick. A quick supper and a new pizza place under our belt to try. I can imagine this isn't the best pizza Chattanooga has to offer so maybe one day in future I can try a better variety. read more

Well, this probably could have been a five star review if it was just based on the food but customer service is soooooo bad. I called to place my order and the girl on the other end of the phone was very obviously annoyed that I called. I could actually picture her rolling her eyes as she talked to me. I have eaten at a lot of different Gondolier restaurants over the years and have never been so irritated! Don't kill me, but this food is just okay (even for Chattanooga standards). I've only been here once and I got two small pizzas: one with extra cheese and one with mushrooms. I also got an order of lemon pepper wings. The pizza and, more surprisingly, the wings were bland to me. As I was eating the wings, I was honestly trying to understand what was happening because I saw there was seasoning on the chicken. My guess is they fry plain wings with no seasoning and then sprinkle the lemon pepper on top, and a lot of that just falls off the chicken. I was disappointed cos when I found out they made LP wings, I was very excited as that's my favorite flavor of wing. I've had much much better. The pizza crust was nice; it's a soft dough. The amount of mushrooms on my pizza was despicable. Both pizzas were also bland. And before anyone says the toppings give flavor, I've had many slices of cheese pizza that were delicious. If the sauce and cheese aren't bomb, it's likely the pizza will be mediocre no matter how many toppings you put on it. Honestly, the only thing that saved my experience was the buy 1 get 1 deal and the amount of wings included in an order (at least I could doctor then up at home). I've heard so much about this place and the reviews are good, but I was really disappointed in the food. I'm still searching for a pizza place around here that really knocks my socks off. New management must've taken over. But yeah, the only thing keeping this place afloat on this app is the old ratings from the previous owners. Like another reviewer said, I used to LOVE the Italian cheesesteak. It sucks now at this location. For me, the meat tasted burnt, or like the grill hadn't been cleaned in a while. The mozzarella sticks used to be great, but I couldn't devour them like I used to. It just sucks that the price is even more for lower quality food. Went in to order a carry out order of 2 large Hawaiian pizzas and a small salad and the food was ready within 15 min The guys working the front were super nice and gracious and told us about the BOGO special they run. This restaurant used to be good, but tonight we got take out from here and it was disgusting. I got a meatball sub. The meatballs are supposed to be homemade, but what I got was a roll with meat sauce, peppers and no meatballs. When I called to complain, I got somebody on the phone that said, "What do you want me to do about it, I just work here. The managers aren't here." My experience tonight 12/7/24 was horrible. I ordered lemon pepper wings and 2 pizzas. The pizzas are ok but those wings are horrible. They are burnt and I can't figure how the cook thought they were ok to serve anyone. I called the restaurant and asked to speak with a manager. I was initially told that the manager was not there and the young lady put me on hold and then put a "manager on the phone. I told him about the wings and how disgustingly burnt they are. First of all, the broken English was hard to understand and he told me I had to bring the wings back. I told him that I was not going to waste gas to drive back because of the distance. I have been eating Gondolier's for a long time and the Italian Cheesesteak Sandwich has been one of my go-to items. It's far from what it used to be. The main issue was why would you stop baking the sandwich to make it crispy and melt the cheese? It was mushy and not appetizing at all. read more

So this is a great little unassuming pizza joint located in an innocuous strip mall located next to Gold's Gym & Food City on Lee Hwy in Chattanooga. It's a super casual place so you can come here with your cronies after softball game for pizza, Strombolis, calzones, subs, pastas & beers. You can bring your kids & not worry about the noise level or other patrons being bothered if they are running around. It's Counter Service & there's a pickup window. They offer bottled, fountain soda, bottled & draft beers. They offer pitchers of beer too! I ordered a few beers & a Stromboli: spinach, Canadian bacon, Blk olives. The dough was heavenly & it was still warm & fresh from the oven. It had the perfect combo of slightly doughy with a slight baked chewy texture. Strombolis are stuffed with Mozzarella. Calzones are stuffed with Ricotta. Both come with sauce inside & a side order. I really enjoyed my Calzone. One suggestion would be, make it fresh baby spinach not regular spinach. The difference is huge. This place has slices of cake including cheesecake in the dessert that looked pretty amazing... The dining area is a good size. There are several flat screen TV's for your viewing pleasure. There is an outside sidewalk seating with a few tables which is super cool. Pickup/Take out & Delivery service is available also. We've been going to this Gondolier for years but the kitchen help quality is not as good as it used to be. Today, Second time in the last three visits that they've left toppings off the pizza. When you ask for a refund for what you paid for ($2.00 per topping) but what they are not giving you, they say they have to keep the pizza. The crust is always crispy and well seasoned. They serve them with tzatziki as a dipping sause, very different and much better than ranch or blue cheese. The wings are also different than others. Ordered 20 wings that cost $30. The wings smelled and tasted like fish. I call and asked for a manager. The lady was told to me, by the manager, to call back in 10 minutes. After 12 minutes had passed, I call back and the same lady was told by the manager, to get my name and number and he (Juan) will call me back. I've ordered Gondolier pizza a few times for work functions. They have always been great to deal with ordering large amounts of pizzas, especially with the buy one, get one free deal. We'll order 10-15 pizzas at a time and they are always ready for me when it's time to pick up. The pizza is good. Not the best I've ever had but not the worst. Toppings are plentiful and they have a good amount to choose from. The pizzas are big and filling. I've also had their salads and they are tasty too. Like I said, service is always good. The new management has 1) altered their BOGO program (now the free pizza is only a cheese pizza), 2) increased prices pretty drastically (for pizza), and 3) started to charge an extremely insulting 4% "Checkout Fee". This place was always our "go to" when we were in the area but the quality of food and service has really tanked. You can tell the things they have changed to save money or maybe they think it's better but it isn't. I believe there are new owners because there is no way after well over 25 years they would do this. The spaghetti is bland. The tea is super weak. The chicken and fries was super greasy. They have put everything behind the counter which makes it super inconvenient for the customers but I guess they think it saves them a few bucks from over use. We have tried it a few times since the changes to give them the benefit of it just being a bad day but after several visits it's clear that we will not be returning. It's totally unfortunate since we have been going there about once a week or so for the last 20 years. Sad and it sucks. The new prices are just not worth it. Called to place a take out order this evening and 2/3 of our items ordered were incorrect even after verifying twice. There were some other items that were omitted that were requested as well including a side salad and extra sauce. Upon calling back to the restaurant after we were back home, I spoke with Serena the "manager on duty" who was rude, arrogant, unapologetic, and even hung up on me. Never have I seen such poor order accuracy, poor customer service, and poor managerial skills. Serena informed me the owners were out of town and would call me Monday. We went here last Saturday and ordered takeout pizza. One of our people can't eat any bread products, so we asked for them to make a "pizza-bowl" for him cook all of the ingredients for a pizza together but without the crust. After going over it about 4 times, apparently they were still confused because we got the ingredients in separate containers and not cooked. The other pizzas were really good though.
