We took the last ride of the season down the Rapid River (class IV) yesterday (8/12/18) and had an amazing time! Our guide was Hannah and she was perfect. Hannah was full of knowledge about the river and the surrounding area, as well as being a skilled river guide with 4 years of experience with this rafting company. All of the staff were pretty chill and everyone had a memorable and safe trip down the Rapid. All of this without a 4+/- hour ride up into whoknowswhere Maine. BONUS: to finish the run with a slow pontoon boat ride back to base camp was the perfect way to end a great afternoon. Great day rafting! I haven't been rafting in eleven years and it was my girlfriend's first time....we both really loved it! It's a good river for first-timers. We did the Pontook Dam class ll+ rapids and our guide was GiGi....she was nice and experienced. We did two runs and on the second run we sat in the front of the raft... that was the best and I would recommend sitting there! The price was pretty cheap for a half day of rafting and we can't wait to go back and do the class lll and lV! Highly recommend Raft NH! read more

Just completed my first trip to this place with a group of 4 others. It was AWESOME. The guides are super knowledgeable of this seemingly uncharted commercial river experience. There are far fewer outfitters that do this trip compared to rivers like the Kennebec and Dead because of its remoteness. Adding on to that, this river is waaayy more consistent and enjoyable than either of those two, in my opinion. After a warm-up paddle across the pond at the drop in point, it is class IV after class IV all the way down, with some small class V's mixed in to keep you honest. Our guide, Kaleb, was extremely accomodating and adventurous. He let us choose what features we wanted to attack and let us be ourselves the entire way down. I would highly recommend him! The price point of this place is spot on and the experience as described on the site is exactly right. There are only a couple of aspects that brought this down from 5 stars: 1) The dinner after the trip is just alright and kind of out of the way for everyone. That's being picky though - it is still a nice experience but could be improved. 2) If you have a choice of a river guide by any chance, avoid choosing Kasey. No offense Kasey, but you are one strict guide and I'm pretty sure your entire boat may have had a much better experience if you weren't leading the way! You are very knowledgeable but these people are looking to take a load off and have a good time. Lighten up! All in all, a great experience! read more

They sure do grow 'em cute in the North Country. The whole rafting trip was an awesome time, made even better by the fact that all the tour guides are very handsome. I was pretty nervous as I'm not the biggest fan of water and although I do like things to get my adrenaline pumping, the idea of drowning isnt extremely exciting for me. It was the easiest river we could go on, and at most points I thought to myself that we couldve done something a bit more extreme. Until my mom and our guide fell out of the raft. Then another person fell out. Then we got stuck on some rocks. Still though, I never once felt totally terrified because I knew we were in safe hands with Ryan. It was an awesome experience, one I would do again, and I think we could take it a step up! read more

First time going through raft nh for class II whitewater rafting (I previously did a class IV) ....I highly recommend going here especially if it's your first time. We had three rafts go out in the morning trip we did, all three tour guides were great. We had Jeff on our raft. Some of the worst jokes I've ever heard . Safety was definitely a priority and being able to swim at the end was amazing. Beautifully scenery. For me personally it was a bit of a drive....2.5 hours....not sure if I'd do it again for that reason only. Great group of people working there! read more

We had a big group of people go on a rafting trip. We drove three hours to have a great time. But while we had a great time rafting the instructor was really rude. English is our second language and it took time for us to understand them, but they yelled at us calling us all stupid to our faces. When we went inside to speak to the manager he only said he would tell someone and nothing else. We definitely won't go back there again. read more

I went to Raft NH for a friend's bachelor party and it was a fantastic time! We did the Rapid River and our guides were AJ and GiGi. There was a bit of an issue when we first arrived because the other group was overbooked and were getting combative, but they worked it out for our group (2 rafts) to go and for the other group to come back later. This made it so we had an especially fun time because it was just our group on the river. I have only gone rafting once before, but their smaller, more nimble boats (we had 6 and 7 per boat, guides included) than I used before were fun. AJ was the guide on my boat and she made it an especially fun time. She exudes energy and She communicated well when we had to DIG IN but also reminded us to have fun by trash-talking the rapids as we were in them. The river itself had a nice curve, starting out a little easier before getting rougher (though still manageably fun). We even came across a group of whitewater kayakers doing some tricks in the rapids! Only thing I'd call a downside was that the "BBQ" after was steamed hot dogs, beans, chips, pasta salad, etc. It was very good and satisfying don't get me wrong, I just was expecting a bigger spread. Not an issue of the service, just expectations. I would love to travel with Raft NH again, especially if my group could get AJ as a guide again. read more

This was a great experience!! We had a group big enough for two raft boats and they accommodated us. Both our guides were great and funny. The only thing I did not like was they made me wear a "special" helmet because I was the bachelorette, unfortunately, if I were to actually hit my head it would not of done much protecting. But I guess that was just part of the adventure :D read more

If you want good customer service, this is NOT the place. We went on a family vacation for my parents' 50th anniversary and booked the rafting trip months ahead. There was an issue and the owner was not professional nor helpful in coming to an agreeable solution. I would not recommend. It is highly recommended that you read this before booking with this company!! My family put together a 4 day mini-vacation (July 15-18, 2016) for my wife and me, as a gift for our 50th wedding anniversary. They rented a large house to accommodate our whole family of three children and their spouses, and our six grandchildren. They also booked two excursions for all of us to go on. One was a river tubbing excursion, and the second, a white water rafting excursion. The white water rafting excursion was booked and paid for with Raft NH in Gorham, NH. The amount paid was $648.00. On the morning of the rafting excursion, July 17, 2016, it was raining hard and the weather forecast for the day was a strong possibility of rain and severe thunder storms all day. The hourly forecast showed a 70-80% chance of thunder storms at 2 and 3 pm. Our appointed time of arrival at Raft NH was 1:30 pm. All of our party had deep reservations about being on the water with the very strong possibility of a thunder storm occurring. Because of these circumstances, I telephoned Raft NH at 9:19 am to voice our concerns. I was informed by the woman who answered that there were no refunds given regardless of circumstances. I was further told that if there was in fact a thunder storm, then they would wait until it was over, and then go. When I questioned the possibility of it occurring while we were out on the water, I was told that they would put ashore, and we would wait under the trees until it stopped (which is the one thing you should never do in a thunder storm). I told the woman I was speaking with that the whole thing was quite absurd and that I would probably speak to an attorney. (I never said I was cancelling the trip, but that I would speak with an attorney). The woman said she would let the owner know. Later in the day, the sky cleared and the sun came out partially, and so, we decided it was better to try taking the trip, rather than losing the $648.00, and we went to Raft NH and arrived at 1:15 pm, fifteen minutes earlier than our scheduled time. When we went into the office, we were told that there would be no trip, because I never called to confirm that we were going, and they had sent the bus driver home, and there would be no refund. Take note, that when we arrived, there was a bus with a trailer attached parked out front. All the rafts to be used were also there. The bottom line is that we were present and ready to go fifteen minutes before we had to be there, we were denied the service that had been paid for. After leaving Raft NH, we went a short ways up the street to a Walmart. Fifteen minutes later we returned past the front of Raft NH and the bus was gone. (Question, if they sent the bus driver home, who drove the bus away?) Also, later on in the day the owner called twice. On the second call he offered us a 25% refund. The group rejected the offer, and instead decided to seek a legal remedy. read more

Here's a pro-tip: If you're going to be doing an activity that can be turned deadly with inclement weather, DO NOT give your money to a business with an absolute "No refunds" policy. They will happily take your money and then when you show the slightest hesitation in wanting to go rafting down the middle of a river in a lightning storm (a fairly reasonable fear), instead of waiting for the weather to break or confirming a cancellation, they will go ahead and cancel on you. And then deny that lightning is at all dangerous, while slandering you and your loved ones in order to make themselves feel better about keeping the money you paid for services to be rendered, without rendering said services. Maybe their raft rides are fantastic. I will never know because absolutely deplorable and down right incompetent customer service prevented me and mine from finding out. Only come here if, in addition to wanting to try low key white water rafting, you also are curious about being struck by lightning. Either way, you'll just be another paycheck for them. read more

There was just so much wrong with this company. My family planned to take a rafting trip while we were all away celebrating my grandparents anniversary. It was raining in the morning so we had my grandfather call and see what the company's plan was if it thunders and lightnings while out on the water (which was to pull over, stand next to the tallest tree and wait...). After learning we would lose the money if we don't go, and since the weather cleared up, we decided we would hope for the best and go. We arrived 15 minutes before our scheduled time, excited about the trip we had ahead. Upon arrival though we were "greeted" by the very rude lady at the front desk. She told us that she had canceled our trip because that is how she interpreted the conversation she had earlier with my grandfather and made the assumption that we weren't coming. We were all very confused and wanted to resolve the issue but she had nothing nice to say and gave us attitude the whole time. She had sent home the bus driver and instead of calling and asking if he/she could come back so we could go on our uncanceled trip, she just denied service. We were then turned away and told we were not going on the trip. The manager later called us to try and figure out the situation. He accused us of trying to leave our vacation early and that's why we canceled, told us we were bad customers and that he would not provide good customer service because of it. While talking to his worker, the one who said we were bad customers, we all stayed level headed and not a single swear or rude phrase was said but yet we were still "bad customers". He refused to give us our money back even though we never canceled and were ready to go on the trip, and he would not reschedule it for us to go on a different day. He sided with his employee and was awful to his customers.
