The place was so clean, I half expected a cleaning fairy to waltz in and curtsy. The furniture and beds? Comfier than a post-Thanksgiving nap. Pillows? Fluffier than a baby alpaca. And those clear plastic boxes for extra bedding? Pure organizational wizardry. Marie Kondo would weep. Cozy blankets made me consider quitting my job and becoming a professional blanket burrito. Pet friendly too--complete with poop bags and couch covers so my dog could live her best life and I didn't have to wrestle her off the sofa like a WWE match. The smoking station on the back porch? Genius. Keeps butts out of nature while still letting smokers feel fancy. The kitchen? Huge table, solid chairs, and a crockpot that made me feel like I'd been transported to a cooking show. Quality pots and pans for days, but only four coffee mugs. FOUR. For a whole chalet. Are we hosting an exclusive espresso club? And one dish towel? My sponge practically filed a complaint. Here's the kicker: it snowed overnight the first night, and by the time we came back from skiing, the walkway was shoveled and the hot tub lid was cleared off like some magical snow-removal ninja had swung by. Honestly, it felt like Santa was moonlighting as chalet maintenance. We did lose heat the first night for a few hours, which gave us an unexpected "polar survival" experience, but those thick duvets were life-savers. Overall, 10/10. After a couple days of camping, a slow leak in our air mattress, and a terrible migraine my sweet husband said lets stay in a hotel our last night. Here's the skinny: The good- Little kitchenettes Fireplace and air conditioning Cable with HBO (we don't have cable at home) Comfortable The less good- Like staying at Grandma's house no lotion no conditioner (came with 2 packages of conditioning shampoo as a hair dresser I was agast...Merle could care less, I digress) no sink in the bathroom no phone really really small The bad- The price was the same as the chain hotels which would be fine if they offered the same amenities. On the sign from the road it says in large print 'Pets Welcome' however there was a game of 24 questions like how big our dog is? How much hair does he have? Is he shedding? He can't be on the furniture...blah blah blah. Seemed less pet friendly than the sign indicates. Checkout was 10am That really bummed me out. Hey peeps vacation usually indicates me wanting to sleep in. All in all it was okay and I would stay there again if the chain hotels were full, but not so much otherwise.

It was the exact right vibes to celebrate my birthday. All of the details are so thoughtful. The rooms are clean and include a good size 'retro' mini fridge. The A/C kicks for a good, cold sleep. The beds are comfy and pillows are nice. It was a very quiet stay. I really don't have one bad thing to say about this spot. Stumbled upon the Amigo Motor Lodge while driving down highway 50 in Salida after a bad experience…read moreat a nearby stay in Poncha Springs where we left after an hour being there. We were lucky to grab a reservation for the night in one of the rooms, and had a long talk with Trinity at the front desk over everything at the motel. She was so friendly, accommodating, and informative. Come to find out the owners are from Austin, and it definitely gives those type of vibes forsure. I love seeing Texas influences here in Colorado. The whole motel was so well thought of and designed- from the airstreams to the lobby, the outdoor spaces and also the rooms we had everything we needed to have a nice and relaxing stay. It's a 3 minute drive to downtown Salida (pronounced Sa-lie-da as the sign outside states) where all kinds of shops/restaurants/breweries are, but also definitely check out Robins real close to the motel for a great breakfast or lunch spot. WiFi was great, bed was comfy and I got some great rest there. Will definitely book at Amigo Motor Lodge again next time we are in town! They really did such an amazing job renovating the motel in a cool modern type of way with a back home Texas twist to it.

After long days of riding, it was a treat to relax in the beautiful garden, which gave the home such a peaceful and welcoming feel. The house itself was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. What really stood out, though, were the hosts--they were warm, friendly, and made us feel right at home. If you're looking for a place to stay near Salida or Monarch Pass, whether for biking, hiking, or just enjoying the mountains, this is a fantastic choice. We'd love to come back!

I expected it would be booked, too, but was surprised when it was available. While the website listed one night stays, the owners were reluctant to let us have it for just one night on a holiday weekend, but did agree, for which we were grateful. What a find! This is a beautiful "home away from home," complete with new accommodations, plenty of space for everyone, and a convenient but private location. After a long day on the road, it was just what we needed. Spacious, beautiful, and restorative. We would stay here again without hesitation!

All of the animals are well taken care of and added to the overall wonderful experience. The hosts are very friendly and offered a delicious breakfast. There is also a well-marked trail on the property, for those who wish to commune with nature. Cheesemaking classes are also available. We purchased some of the goat milk lotion, it's made on site (I believe). Wonderful product for the dry Colorado air. I would definitely recommend!
