Rude rude rude!!!! The older lady helping me was so rude and unapologetic!!! I bought a bunch of stuff for a gift off their sale rack not know that the sale rack is FINAL SALE. The lady refused to even exchange my items said that the policy is on their receipt. Well isn't it too late anyway if I read it on my receipt after the fact that I already made the purchase???? I told her to make an exception and that her sale sign should read "FINAL SALE" and she didn't even respond but said "I might" under her breath. Then she even asked went to the extent of saying "don't you know anyone else that's having a baby boy that you could give these clothes too?" HOW RUDE!!!!! I love this place. I have received gifts for my daughter from here. I have shopped here. I love it! Great place to shop for your childrens clothing for a family photo or special event. YES the clothing is high end. But it sure lasts! They wash well and are soft to the touch. I have alot of basic clothing from stores like Kohls, Target, Babies R Us and Macys. But I love mixing a few NICER things from Ragamuffin. I come in occasionally to purchase things for my daughter. I have to say that the clothing from here lasts alot longer than stores like Target or Babies R Us. Huge selection on hair bows. Beautiful and soft socks. Cute ruffly underwears/diaper covers for babies. Huge selection on unique and beautiful newborn baby gifts. The blankets are a little expensive, but there are so many other beautiful gifts. I am part of their mailing list and about once or twice a year they send out a 30% and 20% and 10% coupon---this is when I pounce! They just recently send a 30% coupon valid for the whole month of October. I used it to purchase a wonderful gift for a friend that just had a baby. I am not a snob by any means and far from it!!!!! I am a hard working hispanic gal that loves and appreciates good quality clothing AND takes care of it. You will never see my daughter wearing anything wrinkled or have a dirty nose! I think the customer service here is superb. I don't think these women are snobs AND they know their clothing. I have been to other boutiques or 'craft' stores that have handmade items that are beautiful but the clothing they used as a canvas is not necessarily the best quality---a shame. I do have to give kudos to the sales rack at Ragamuffin. Its awesome! I agree with a previous posted that you can find a beautiful boys coat for $100 during the season, and get that same coat at the end of the season for $20! I have purchased things on the sales rack for about 60% off--I just make sure its a few sizes bigger. Ragamuffin is my place for shopping for unique baby gifts. I have never been dissapointed. If you are shopping for a baby gift and you tell them, they will help you select something and also gift wrap it for free! Awesome when you are in a hurry. :-) ok---I was going to give this place 4 stars. But even though its pricey, I think it deserves 5 stars. I'm trying to support small businesses during this difficult time, but I sure didn't feel appreciated at this store. I had difficulty returning a "big ticket item" (Kathy's words) within the 10 day period. I would have gladly just exchanged, but they did not have what I wanted and said she only orders in bulk at Christmas time. I was finally able to get a refund, but begrudgingly. Ragamuffin holds a special place in my heart, i shopped there as a little girl with my mom. I shop there with my little girl and to see her face light up just like mine did as a child is just the bees knees. It's just so neat to still have this boutique there and share those childhood memories. Another plus is they always have the cutest stuff and the friendliest staff. Next time I consider keeping my dollars local and purchasing a gift or boutique item from a local business it will not be at Ragamuffin. I recently had a terrible customer service experience leaving me less than inclined to return. I went in last week with my daughter and had a perfectly fine, unremarkable experience, greeted by a pleasant staff, made my purchase and left. When I got home I discovered one item that was paid for that was an item I had stated at register I chose against purchasing though she had erroneously rang up. No big deal, I'll just return it. Next I discovered the shoes I purchased for my daughter were too big. Again no big deal, exchange for correct size. Third, a baby outfit I purchased I found in a smaller size elsewhere which is truly what I needed, so I added that to my return list. The hat I purchased was great, no issue! Plan was to return item accidentally rang up, exchange shoes for correct size and return outfit that was too big. Enter terrible experience here. Greeting began with a terse "can I help you with something" by any apparently over-busied elderly woman. Yes! In fact you can, and I proceed to begin to explain to her the issue with aforementioned items. I got so far as the erroneous ring for item one when she interrupted me to say "we won't be giving you money back we will only offer in store credit". To that I pointed out that it was an item I didn't even want that item, it was erroneously rung and put in my bag. She concedes to this point to offer me cash, but only for this item, in a very put out tone as if she is doing me a gigantic favor. At this point I'd like to note that during all of this exchange she is in part completing a transaction with another customer. She then informed me the shoe size I need is not available, they don't have it and therefore I cannot exchange for a correct size. When I questioned the verbalized return policy regarding cash back for a shoe that is not even available for purchase she pulled up the bottom of the receipt to show me and reiterate "merchandise may be returned for store credit or exchange within season". I pointed out the absurdity of this, given my perfectly reasonable requests regarding each transaction. She went on to tell me how this is standard business practice and should it be otherwise they "wouldn't even be able to keep their doors open" and the same applied to "all the shops in McHenry Village". To that I reminded her that it is people like me, who choose to shop local that keep her doors open. What incentive do I have to return after this experience? Zero. We all know they are an overpriced boutique and I could find each of those items cheaper elsewhere be it brickfront or online. I chose to shop local and engage in the "experience" of going into a store, one that is in fact unique to our community and a great go-to for gifts! Disappointing to say the very, very least. I am now stuck with a store credit card of $57.14 that will rot away forever. Perhaps in my head I'll just walk away from this experience thinking of the hat, the one item I have to speak of through this experience, as the most indulgent ridiculous gift I will ever buy my soon to be son, because it will be over my dead body that I ever step foot into the store again, recommend it to anyone, or use my in store credit for any reason. Way to go Ragamuffin! In a community with an staggering unemployment rate you'd think a local business may put a little more care into their investment of people, that is their customers, our community. read more

I have shopped here on multiple occasions and each time I have had a fun experience shopping and great customer service. One particular occasion my children were acting a little wild in the store and the kind women working did not make me feel unwelcome or embarrassed by my kids. They nicely showed them where the toys were so that I could enjoy my shopping experience. I love that I can find coordinating outfits for my daughter and son. I've been coming here for over 6 years and I have never had to return or exchange anything so I totally forgot the stores policy. However, today I bought a pair of jeans and walked out and went to the bakery shop to then realize I had gotten the wrong size. Went back to return them (no joke 7min later) and they would not by any chance give me my money back. I understand they have a policy but jeans were not cheap and I seriously had just walked out. They have a great selection of stuffed animals that are so big and plushy, my boyfriend bought me one here back when I was a sophomore in college, it was great for cuddling and I'm sure any child would die to have one like it! The regular clothing is pricey, but the sales rack (and there always is one) has TONS of great buys on it. Cute, unique, high quality baby clothes. Almost makes me want a baby. I love this store. Yes, it is very expensive and they carry the high end clothings for kids. I bought a lot of my daughters clothes here but on the sale rack. I wait till the end of the season when they are on sale and buy 1-2 sizes bigger for the next season. I recently bought a $20.00 winter jacket and the original price was $100. First off these workers are absolutely rude! i walked into the store and not one person said hello or do you need help with anything. I felt judged as if i wasn't good enough to be in this store. While I was looking at the hair bows, the worker was starring at me as if I'm going to put one in my purse. Clothes are way too pricey. Really dissapointed. Maybe my expectations are a little too high but when you go into a store and you're about to drop $150 to $200 on a flower girl dress you would hope the person or people behind the counter would do more than just stare at you. They only have size six and up but I found the changing room put it on my daughter and we probably could have had it tailored and it would have been perfect but not one person asked if we needed help. They just stared behind the counter and when I asked about ordering it they didn't really didn't know and didn't take an extra step to say" hey pick out a dress and will check on it for you" they just stared so I rather take my money elsewhere. I've shopped at this store multiple times, and every time I leave I always tell myself not to go back! The customer service is unbelievably terrible. The women who work there are extremely stuck up and very unprofessional. Recently, I went in to return an outfit my daughter had received as a birthday gift. Once someone finally came over to help me, she looked at the outfit, handed it back to me and told me it cannot be returned because it was a "sale" item. AND I was unable to get store credit too! She didn't offer me anything, and she didn't even ask if she could help me look for something else that might work. I wouldn't recommend shopping at this store. If you're up for a drive, I would go to Sassy Pants in Stockton. It is located in Lincoln Village and it's super cute with awesome customer service. I have been shopping here on occasion for years. They have cute (but overpriced) clothes. I will not be returning after yesterday's experience. I tried to return to sweaters which had been worn for less than 3 minutes. Unfortunately, my husband had removed the tags. I had the receipt and the sweaters were in perfect condition. I was told no, that they had to have the tags on them. OK, I was fine with that (sort of), but then the owner went on to say that it looked as if they'd been worn for some time. I was in this store recently with my daughter. We were shopping for a gift for my oldest daughter and my new grandson. Not one person greeted us, although one sales lady walked past us twice looking at my daughter with the most unpleasant look both times. Maybe it was because she was dressed in her soccer clothes, not quite the "ragamuffin" look. I was prepared to spend a few hundred dollars on some blankets and layette items for my little man to come home from the hospital in. I guess not.
