    The White House room
    Lo S.

Had a good time but honestly it isn't set up the way you think a rage room would be set. It's truly a bare bones operation. First- You have to purchase items..(a crate full of old plates, glass cups, and beer bottles) that you throw up in the air and hit. Sure they have TVs and computers that you can mash..but it's an extra $200 to purchase those (nooooo thank you). If you bring your own stuff to break- they will charge you additional for it. You might be better off with that option by the way. The white overall suits you see the ads they do not provide (possibly due to C19 but not sure). They ran out of latex gloves so thankfully a party was there and they had gloves to give. The speaker in our room didn't work so we listened to the other's room music..it was loud enough. Overall -make sure you where clothes with a hood and long sleeves and or coat. Long pants and shoes that good to walk on glass.

The idea is definitely there. However I paid $140 to break a bucket of glass things that I could have broken in my backyard.

He was very understanding when I started mentioning I didn't want any recordings or social media, and that I just needed to let out some stress and emotion.

The ages of the children ranged from 3-6 years old. She even made rude comments to the children & had them cleaning up the party room on their own, rather than her going around and cleaning up. She also was not very sanitary and wiped her face with gloves on before she cut the cake. She clearly was also never shown how to cut a cake before this disaster. She was cutting pieces, plopping it into her hand & then palming it onto a plate. She also told my child to stop crying or he wouldn't get a goodie bag. Prior to this party room experience, she kept walking around basically in circles in the lanes where kids and parents were mingling. She didn't give any privacy for the party and kept squeezing in between people talking. Who hired this girl without proper training? She had no common courtesy or respect. The child's mother of the party did complain to management.

Some look like pretty good deals if you're with a group. But... $50 for an hour of bowling on a Saturday afternoon?!?!? AND... when the time limit is up in the 7th frame, the alley just shuts off?!?!? Two of us bowled two games and then completed 1/2 of the seventh frame in game three. So, between us, we didn't bowl six games. If we *had* finished our last game, it would cost over $8 a game! That's outrageous! To cut off the alley mid-game (mid-7th frame) is insulting to the costumer. That said, Holiday Bowl was a hopping place with groups, families, beginners, and regulars. Food looked really good. Great selection of beers. Full bar. Waitress service. Will need to go during a promotion, though, to not feel ripped off.

Upon arrival there is a small parking lot, with a kiosk and the usual map of the trails. I used primarily the red and yellow trails to reach the top of the mountain. The view is nice, with a little bit of obstruction due to the trees. On a clear day you can easily see New York City. At the top of the mountain there is also a star with lights on it that I believe was donated. In addition to this, there is a large rock with the American flag painted on it. These are two little interesting things to see in addition to the view. The hike itself was fairly easy, with one steep section before reaching the top. I would say it is definitely a good hike if you live nearby and want to go for a hike without taking a longer drive. The one negative, is that in some areas the trails are not properly marked and can be a little confusing. This doesn't seem to be too big of an issue because it seems they all end meeting back together at some point.

You can follow the trails or there's other ways up the mountain. You can ride your mountain to the top of the mountain or through to the Franklin lakes preserve but there's a lot of area where trees are down or there is too much water. There's a great view and plenty of space once you get to the top of the mountain. You can find "buttermilk falls" by the North Haledon entrance to the college.

I really enjoyed how this room had a really cute backstory also. It was really scary initially with the clown coming in every 15 minutes or so. All of the clues we gave were very reasonable and solvable within the time we are given. The Game Masters Jerry and Kevin were very nice, accommodating, and gave such amazing hints. Unfortunately my team did not solve it in time, but we were so close!! Will definitely come back to try the others.

We made a reservation for my brother's birthday as a surprise and this was the only location that had availability as this chain of Escape the Room also has locations in Hackensack and in Madison. Worked out well because we played Minute to Win It before entering the Escape the Room and it was so much fun! We played a few games and our hostess kept tabs on the score. Don't want to give too much away but they kept us entertained and in competitive spirits! Once we got to the Escape the Room, I was at awe at how real it felt. The Gamemaster was pretty good at giving us clues not that it helped us much because we did not escape! He was nice enough to tell us the answers after we failed and honestly I don't think I would still be able to escape! But it was so much fun nonetheless. After the escape the room, we all play virtually reality games and since we did a private booking, the booking came with pizza which was so ridiculously good!! Had to take off a star only because there was a discrepancy closing out the bill which had nothing to do with the actual team at the location. Other than that, I would definitely return and there is a liquor store down the street as well :)
