My Funplex experience was AMAZING! A friend saw a post online about an After Dark event so we booked it. The After Dark hours were from 9PM-1AM for a 21 and over crowd. When we arrived, everything was up and running as if it were daytime. All the games, rides and attractions were in service. I rode Go Karts for the first time in yearrrs and I actually came in first place. Me! That was dope. The BIG FUN though was all the water rides. Lazy River, pool tubing and the main pool were all open and full of people ready for a great time. We were treated to a DJ who understood the crowd assignment and shoutout to the most wonderful staff. All employees on this night were in a great mood and they gave party vibes too. The promoters didn't over sell this event, so crowds and lines weren't a problem at all. I had such a blast that I wasn't even mad about getting my phone wet. I'm looking forward to going back to The Funplex for another After Dark night out. I thought they were gonna shortchange us but that didn't happen. We were given the whole experience. This place is both an arcade and waterpark. We attended for a birthday party which was specifically for the waterpark. We got wristbands and although it was rainy on and off they were able to keep operating since there wasn't a danger such as thunder or lightning. Lines weren't long because of the weather. They provide life jackets. They have many lifeguards. There is a picnic area for the public but a separate one for birthday parties. Pizza and wings weee good. Had lots of refreshment options and also adult beverages you could purchase. The people working the birthday side were upbeat and friendly. read more

My son's birthday was hosted here and unfortunately although he had a great time and so did the other kids .... I can honestly say this felt very disorganized. The food came out 15 min after they announced to have the kids get the food which if you know kids they were anxy to get back to the water. Zoey is the sole reason this review should be a 5 star because she was super kind and hyped up the party. The party manager was also great in answering any questions or concerns I had. Overall though for the money that's paid it felt like things were up in the air. The balloons were placed elsewhere ... it was just overwhelming to feel so lost. read more

We went on a weekday during spring break. We came for a 7 year old friend's birthday. My daughter and the birthday girl had a blast playing all the things. One of the girls is under 48" so that limited the rides available to her. Some things such as the go karts need an accompanying adult. It's adults did not get the passes for ourselves so they weren't about to do the go karts. Just something to keep in mind when planning ahead. Overall cute experience for being local. read more

Adults Night Out! My BF and I came here towards the end of the summer for their "Funplex Afterdark". Think games, outdoor pools, food, alcohol and a DJ. The entry ticket purchased also gave access to bowling, bumper cars and several rides. Early arrival is suggested to avoid long lines. The food was very mid (carnival level), the drinks varied depending on which bar you got your drink from. The pool area was jammed pack.... Literally people standing on top of each other. We spent the majority of our time inside where we enjoyed ourselves the most. All in all we had a good time and would go back next summer. read more

It's a pretty good place if you manage your expectations. It's not some uber fancy theme park and it has a modest water park with some more older kids/adults themed stuff like a go kart track and bowling. The arcade is very big and there's a lot of options that would make little kids happy. It's a good place to bring younger kids to kill half a day in the arcades or other amenities, like for a morning and early afternoon run. Or just swing by for a couple of hours before lunch at the arcades and other little attractions there. I wouldn't say it's a more exciting way to spend the day than going to the attractions at American Dream or anything like that. But it's a great place for simple fun and enjoyment on a smaller scale if you don't feel like doing more than just keeping kids or teens occupied for a few hours. read more

*NEVER COME HERE* We weren't expecting to have an experience like this, and it was hands down one of the worst birthday party experiences we've ever had. The party actually started off great. There were 5 adults and 7 kids, and our party host was incredible. I don't remember his name, but he was friendly, attentive, and gave us outstanding service. Unfortunately, everything after that went downhill fast. We waited in line for the go-karts for at least 20-30 minutes. There were three girls in front of us, and as we were finally getting close, one. We asked employee who came over if 10 people could go since there were clearly 10 karts on the track during the previous ride. She confirmed that yes, 10 people could ride. Then, as the last of our boys were about to get on, we were suddenly told they had to wait for the next ride. At that point, we had to pull the kids off and try to figure out whether the adults should ride instead. It was complete chaos, and none of the employees seemed to know what the actual rules were. That's when the so-called manager showed up and made the situation even worse. Instead of trying to resolve anything, he immediately accused my mother of yelling at him, which simply wasn't true. Both my mother and I work in education--we know the difference between raising a concern and screaming at someone. He then complained that my boyfriend should never have walked behind him after getting off the ride to see what he was saying to my mother, as if trying to understand the situation was somehow inappropriate. To make matters even worse, another employee falsely claimed that my mother had spit in her face. That accusation was completely outrageous. At that point, it was obvious the staff was more interested in making up stories than admitting they had mishandled the situation from the beginning. We spent around $600 on this birthday party. For that amount of money, our group managed to play one game of laser tag, spend time in the ball pit, and the boys got on one ride. The go-kart line alone was going to eat up almost the rest of our party time because the operation was so disorganized. When we said we were calling the police because of how everything had escalated, the "big bad sheriff" came speed-walking over like she was saving the day. Then the responding officer brushed the entire situation off as a "miscommunication." After being falsely accused, disrespected, and wasting hundreds of dollars because the staff couldn't manage a simple ride queue, calling it a miscommunication was insulting. This place is an absolute disaster. The management is incompetent, the staff can't keep their stories straight, and customer service completely disappears the second there's a problem. The only bright spot was our party host, who deserved far better than the rest of the team he works with. We will never be back, and I wouldn't recommend anyone spend their hard-earned money here unless they're okay paying hundreds of dollars to stand in line and be treated like they're the problem. read more

I came on a night where it was adults-only, and I think offering these nights is a very smart idea. I came with a party of 5, and the tickets were $39.99 online. This was roughly an hour and 20 minutes away from us, and they were open from 9 PM-1 AM. We got there around 8:45 and had to wait until 9 for them to open the doors. Inside, you'll find an arcade along with some rides. They also offer go-karts, bowling, bumper cars, and virtual reality games, just to name a few. Your wristband includes everything except the arcade games, which require tokens that must be purchased separately. We played some games, rode the rides, did bumper cars, go-karts, and some virtual reality games. The pool area was closed, which was specified on the website. We wanted to bowl, but by the time we got to the counter it was around 11:45, and the employee informed us there were 3 parties ahead of us, with each group getting an hour. Since they closed at 1, we wouldn't have had time. I wish they had specified this somewhere, because we would have opted to bowl earlier. There was a live DJ, and I enjoyed their music selection, although there was no smooth transition from song to song--it felt a bit all over the place. They also offer food and drinks. I got a chicken sandwich combo, which came with fries and a drink. The drink was completely watered down. I also ordered a bucket drink (32oz) listed at $22, but the total came out to $27. I've been trying to figure out the math on that. It's not NJ sales tax and it wasn't 18% gratuity as a prior comment suggested, so I'm confused. When I was told the price, I had just arrived and didn't think much about it, but later I realized that's a big price jump--on top of that, I tipped. The food was okay but overpriced. Overall, it was a good crowd and a fun time. It wasn't overcrowded, and there weren't long waits for rides or games, but they could use some tweaking. I've come here twice now. Once as a chaperone on a school trip and once with my own family. It really is a fun way to spend the morning and part of the afternoon. I brought my two kids here - different age groups - and they were both entertained for hours. The waterpark which is best enjoyed at the beginning of business hours was the best part of the place to my family. On the day of our visit, it was a hot, summer day and getting in the pool before it became crowded was everything to us. After spending several hours in the waterpark, we went inside and played the various games and attractions. I will say, the go karts were faster than I thought and as a nondriver, was scary. Bowling was a blast. My kids still ask to go back and we are planning to return again in the summer. All in all, we spent about $300 after everything was said and done but it was money well spent. Beware of the bar!!! We bought 2 drinks at $12 each and it came out to $29. We paid and left a few bucks tip in the tip jar. I was wondering why the total was so much. It didn't sit right with me so I went back and asked when I returned for more drinks later. We were told they added a mandatory 18% gratuity. I was livid...not because of the mandatory tip, but because the mandatory gratuity wasn't specified anywhere on the menu! Customers have the right to know this! That being said, why do you also have a tip jar in front of the register when the tip was already included??? We spent a few hundred dollars here and it was an only an okay time, but the bar put a bad taste in my mouth with that shady sh*t they pulled. Obviously we won't be returning! read more

I hosted a project graduation here in 2018 and it was amazing then and even better now. First I saw the bathrooms and game areas cleaned several times during my visit. The bowling is not regulation but fun and the balls and lanes are not covered in grease. The game area is fun too! Go karts are regulated to ensure no bumping and that everyone has a safe environment. The water rides are immaculate and the entire facility is well staffed. Food is reasonably priced for an amusement park, I would gladly give my business to this place over dirty six flags or mountain creek. read more

There are several things we disliked about this water park/ arcade. One was the price but the time everything was said and done - it was expensive but also there are lots of rules such as you can only be in a tube on the lazy river. Went to get food and there were no fried snickers, fried Oreos nor funnel cake although it seem like they didn't want to work. The fried pickles tasted horrible. The food service was slow with only one or two people to serve a place that was packed for a Saturday afternoon. The bathrooms were a disaster - looked like a war zone as per my sister and daughter. Most of the workers seemed annoyed when asked a question or even when approached. And the air conditioner - it was non-existent in some areas. The only positive was the bowling and the folks at the redemption counter. The manager at the front was also helpful in combining our cards and wristbands. I brought my younger cousin here for the water park. There's a lot you can do here! They have a game room where you can win prizes and there's a few rides! There's laser- tag, bowling, go-carts, bumper cars, an adventure course and foam frenzy (whatever that means). There's different options for the tickets depending on what your going to do and a good selection of food either way. My cousin and I had a good time, but I wasn't too impressed. There was a pool, a lazy river and a couple slides. It was worth checking out, but next time I'm going to go somewhere with more slides Most of the slides you couldn't keep your water shoes or flip flops on, but you can either hold them or leave at the start of the line. They have lockers outside you can rent and had some private areas if you wanted to have a party. read more

I wrote a review on the 15th of July indicating my disappointment with results of birthday party held for Yara Chester on July 14th. It rained and the children were not allowed in the water park. They received 3 pizzas and drinks. Ms. Amanda L responded and stated that I should email Michael@funplex which I did. To date which is August 16th, there has been no response from Michael at all. I Have been the administrator for a couple of agencies and when there is a problem we give a quick response. I realize you are a large entity but that does not mean you should not respond to customer complaints. Handling them in an effective and efficient manner. My disappointment is great in you. Granddaughter chose to have her birthday party here again this year. She visits other times of the year for the rides and arcade. The food is not bad at all and actually the pizza and vodka pasta is quite tasty. We get the VIP Cabana outside in the water park area after the indoor part of the party. I really want to like this place. The set up isn't terrible and it's close to home. The staff however make this place so unenjoyable. I get that there are mostly kids/young people working there and they could not care less but c'mon. My wife and I took our daughter here for a day of fun on her birthday and easily spent over $300 for the day. It would've been worth it if we weren't so disturbed and put off by how rude and dismissive everyone who worked there was. The "lifeguards" were the absolute worst! My family has a pool membership near by that we frequent on the regular and I've never had issues with lifeguards. We don't rough house and we are all proficient swimmers. These poorly trained fools however will blow a whistle on you and reprimand you for a myriad number of reasons that are beyond me. Just to name a couple I got reprimanded for leaning against a wall in one of the pools. Weird. My daughter was reprimanded for hugging me!?! They said she's not allowed to have her arms around me. My six year old. Crazy. They scolded her for not sitting straight up in her tube on the lazy river for crying out loud. How are you supposed to laze if you can't even sit back and relax. It was very stressful with the non stop whistle blowing, shouting and just overall poor attitude. As soon as we got in one of the first games we played ate our credits. I explained the situation to someone working there and they made me go all the way back to the front desk to run a report on our bands to make sure we were telling the truth and the entire time the gentleman helping the employee helping me was hard eyeing me like he wanted to go outside and fight me. I really just don't understand. I had to walk away because I felt like he was trying to escalate the situation and I was not having that on my little girls bday. He ended up only giving me half the credits owed for whatever reason as the employee kept trying to explain the situation to him. I had to just walk away. She ended up flagging me down 2 minutes later with a game card in hand with the credits I was owed but man was it really necessary to have to endure all that for 12 credits?! Not the kind of environment I'd call welcoming, relaxing or fun. Honestly would've been better off just going to American Dream. 0 stars. read more

Definitely entertaining - they had a work deal for 3 activities, food, and a separate room for $35, which was great - the laser tag, go-karts and bowling was fun and you can pop in and out of whatever you feel like playing. This place was awesome! It was my nieces sixth birthday-- my aunt told me we were coming here to bowl. I didn't have the time t look on Yelp, prior to our arrival, but when we were in the parking lot, it seemed like an amusement park. We entered and it looked like Dave and Busters-- seems like this place had a little of everything. Bowling, water rides, indoor games, food, arcade area, play areas for kids, etc.. My biggest regret-- I didn't get enough time there. As we arrived at almost four, we only stayed about three hours. Between the games, waiting on the line for prizes, and the kids taking forever in the Foam Frenzy, hat are up all of the time there. Attended a birthday party here last weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It took place outside in the Splashplex. There were water slides, a lazy river, a splash pad and a 3ft pool. The women's bathroom was clean. The party was from 1-3:30. However, since we started the party at 1:15, the time was extended until 3:45. What I loved was that the kids were able to enjoy the water area and then they were called for pizza and cake at 3:15. After that, adios! We did get hungry around 2:30 though and ordered mozzarella sticks. $8 and they were delicious! So delicious that my husband, daughter, her friend and I finished them quickly and I had to go buy another set. Crispy, hot and tasty. Yum. The two ladies working the concessions were friendly and nice. My daughter had so much fun and wants to return ASAP. When we left, you have to walk through the arcade, which wasn't too crowded. However, it was definitely easier to watch her while she enjoyed the water activities instead of having to worry about her running around inside. Soooo we will probably return for the water area this summer, but maybe not the arcade until she is older. read more

My ears were irate the whole four hours we were there. How simple it would be to pipe in some Motown, soul or even just instrumental classic or jazz? They've destroyed the experience with this "no one has heard of" crap they play. Other complaint is the extremely SLOW, long lines to get the jr expensive food and beverages.
