The part was covered under manufacturers warrantee. Simple job. No estimate provided by tech or owner. Was hit with a $1000 invoice with no prior authorization from me. Invoice was not itemized. Just a number, apparently pulled out of thin air. When questioned they knocked off a $99 service fee they fully intended on charging on top of service fee related to replacing a bad coil. I own 5 homes locally, so the search for a high-integrity tech continues.

I called Newcomb and they said they would have a tech come out by end of day and report back, that was Monday. Tuesday....nothing. Wed, I called them and they let me know I should receive a quote on issue on Thurs. Friday I called them again and was told quote person was out so asked to speak with owner and he was out but did call me back to let me know that part that malfunctioned was under warranty so no quote was needed and I would only be charged for labor. But was told they reworked unit so I would have heat, part had been ordered and should be there on Monday and they would get out to fix early next week. Was told malfunction was not normal but not uncommon either. Monday, Tues and Wed no communication so called and was informed part was back ordered. Thursday, Friday.....nothing. Got home late Sat and heat was on so that was nice but I have no idea if unit has been fixed or if i am still running on a band aid. Today is Monday ( two weeks later) really can't think running system on a "work around" is good for unit. So I will call again looking for answers. So Carrier has no parts and Newcomb has poor communication.. PS, we have had unit serviced by Roger since the beginning and he has been great, which makes this doubly frustrating.

I've called on them dozens of times for tenants and for my own use. They're always courteous and arrive when they say they're going to (or call to let you know of a delay). Their employees are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I've recommended them to three different neighbors and all have been pleased with the outcome. I signed up for their annual preventive maintenance plan - they come out twice a year to inspect equipment and ductwork, clean the lines, change your air filter, etc. No one wants the AC to go out during our steamy summers!

He came on time and spent about 2 hours on the inspection of all of our AC units. He did not know how to use the Carrier Infinity thermostat and asked me to "get away from it." The other thermostat was detached from the wall during furniture moving. He did not know how to fix it. The bill for that day was $238 (nothing was ultimately fixed). The next day he came with another guy to "clean the vents" and told me that the bill would be $950. He came with Clorox wipes and wiped the vent on the ceiling on the inside and outside. He did not find mold or mildew. The vent on the ceiling was in shambles after his service but he was determined to destroy the other six too for no reason. He was very angry when I asked him why we were doing this "cleaning" when I needed my thermostats fixed. He got very, very angry when I asked him those questions "because it looks like I did not trust his professional opinion". Horrible service.
