Does everyone shop with rubber gloves on in these stores? I don't like the funk that a lot of thrift stores have either. HOWEVER I'm fully on board with not shopping fast fashion and buying second hand being a better alternative, so I'm trying to find a happy medium. At least Monk feels curated such that I don't feel like I have to dig too much before I find something cute. And I saw several cute items at this store. Yes, I usually do spend like $40+ on an item from here but that's less than I'd spend on a new item. I found a gorgeous mesh and beaded dress and a silk skirt that I still cherish from here. The kids section is small but after milling through carefully I was able to find jeans from children's place and the GAP for $3 per pair. The jeans were in pristine condition and is perfect for a growing 6 year old. While perusing, I found a fantastic men's sweater for my husband to wear to work for $5. I also found a lounge sweater for myself in the clearance section for $2. There are no returns or exchanges so if youre unsure about a piece, be sure to try on before you buy in their fitting room. As far as service goes, the cashiers are quick but there weren't any reps on the floor. I like coming here to have time to myself.
