So my wife and I were riding our bikes to the movies tonight (Wed 6-30-11). It turned a little chilly so my wife wanted to stop in and grab a sweatshirt or sweater. We reached Ragstock at 7:25pm. The sign in the window said they were open until 8:00 so we locked up our bikes and walked in only to find the inside door was locked. My wife pulled on the 'out' door which was still open (customers were still in the store) and peeked in to ask why the door was locked. "Aren't you open until 8:00 like the sign says?" The young woman behind the register said "um.... yeah... ah... no, we're closed. Um... I don't know why it says that"... but she said it in that sort of "I'm BS-ing you and I can see you are not buying it and really, I'm not selling it too well so I think I'll just nervously smile at you like I am a 7 year old caught in a lie" kind of way. As we left and started to unlock our bikes, four other people also tried to get in but were turned away like we were. Sometimes when a store tries that hard to tell you they don't need your business, they get what they ask for. I hope her manager or the owner reads these reviews. read more

I usually dont shop vintage stores since its a rarity that they will have anything that fits me (I am 6'3 200+). And Ragstock is the same though I did find one jacket and one shirt, but still its just a blast to walk around and see everything they have. Also the music is pretty good. The reason why I love this place though is because they have those Risky Business sunglasses, which I love. read more

This place can be a lot of fun for people who love thrift/vintage shopping. It's a big place with a lot of stuff to go through. HOWEVER, you probably will never come across a staff anywhere in the country that is as rude as the employees are at Ragstock. They seem to be constantly yelling at people and are bothered by any type of question from a customer because it disrupts their highly important hipster conversation. These are the kind of people that are made fun of on youtube videos for acting the way they do. Again, great place to find random clothing, but check your bag, don't be on your phone and avoid talking to the staff. They will find a reason to yell at one and make you feel like an ass. read more

It is a decently organized place, but it is hard to find the right sizes. Things are usually organized by color. Trying on stuff is a weird experience. The staff is usually ok, but not terribly talkative. Even though I'm a lady, I prefer looking through the men's stuff (I like Japanese baseball jerseys, what can I say). I love the variety at Ragstock! they have so much stuff and you can find pretty much anything you're looking for. They have a huge selection of new clothes as well as a great variety of recycled clothes, my favorites are the boyscout shirts! It's also a great place to look for Halloween costume stuff. read more

This place basically robbed me. We came into the store and bought 4 items and were charged for 25. We came back an hour later to see if we could get the money back because we payed 70 dollars. They were extremely rude to us and the cashier, a woman with curly brown short hair even gave us the death stare and snapped at us while whipping her neck around like a diva. We tried to be polite and she dismissed us because we were younger than her. She thought she was superior. We were told that we had to come back the next day even though we live an hour away and we're only here for a day. She yelled at us in front of the whole store for no reason. I can only speak about the basement (mens). Lots of interesting stuff to look for. You can definitely leave with one or two fashionable items. I would however advise against buying any of their new coats/jackets they seem to be very bad quality and overpriced (Ive bought two). One of them was faux leather with a hoodie. The fleece arms developed a lot of cotton bumps all over the place. The inside was made of a fur like material that attracted ALOT of static and would always give shocks or cause plastic wrappers to stick to me. I would also advise against their "rag wool" knitted accessories they might not even last you the season- they fall apart. Like reviewer Tawny S says the clothes are "hit or miss." People say that employees here have a bad attitude. I haven't experienced any downright rude behavior although I have heard some employees speak about two certain customers as "the meth sisters" (behind their back of course) because they were so skinny. Mostly they just check out stuff for you without saying a word. I would say definitely the nicest employee is a tall skinny bearded long haired scandinavian-looking fellow. Also they don't give refunds. I like all the military clothes they have here. Before you go to the army surplus I suggest you come here first. You will find something cheaper. I got a German police jacket for $10 and (used but very good condition) BDU pants for $15. You have a lot of German military jackets,mostly BDU pants a few ACU or desert. I bought about 5 shirts for under 50 bucks. They have a wide variety of womens tops which i liked and you can find some pretty neat stuff there. My only complaint is the staff. They are a bit rude and are not very friendly. Also you can't be on your cell phone while you are checking out. read more

A few days ago my best friend took me here during a shopping trip, mens are downstairs womens are upstairs. The good - Lots of sales, when I went there were tons of $1 tees. -Pretty good for halloween, ugly christmas sweaters. - Nice vintage things, and jewelry. -Cute bows! The bad - The thrift section isn't the greatest or the cheapest at least it wasn't when I visited. - I asked the clerk behind the counter how much a bow was, she said "Uh I don't know.... there's no tag on it?" - The people that work there are pretty friendly, helpful? Eh not so much. But everyone has their days. The ugly - The prices differ on some things, I was looking at two identical suicidegirls tee's. One said it was $1 and the other said $3. - A lot of tees don't have sizing on them so you have to look at them and figure out what size they are. Afterward I left with a tee and two friendship bracelets for 5.50. After getting wet in the rain, my bracelets started bleeding and my arm turned blue from the dye. My friend, bought a pair of used jeans, two pairs of used shorts and an adidas jacket for $50. Not bad but I know of better thrift stores. I would rate them a 3.5, I would visit again. read more

The customer service at this place couldn't be more disgraceful and infuriating. There is no excuse for people to be this rude, especially in a sales or customer service role. I love supporting small, local businesses, and I don't take pleasure in bashing this place because I love the idea of it, but the people there sucked. There were rude to me and they were rude to my girlfriend. They were not helpful in finding anything and they weren't attentive to what we needed at all. 4 employees sat behind the counter fussing with the music that was playing while we waited for someone's attention to ask where something was. The same thing happened while we waited to pay. I would love to praise their selection, but we had no help in finding what we needed so I can't say anything about it. I would have shrugged all of this off and I would never have bothered to post anything on yelp, except that when my girlfriend calmly asked if she could bring some clothes to me in the fitting room one of the employees responded to her, "You need to relax." When we were ready to check out she asked if they had her clothes behind the counter and they pointed to them without moving and said, "yeah they're right there." We waited an awkward couple seconds and then said, "Can we please pay for them?" It was bazaar how rude and unpleasant these people were. I will not shop here again out of principle. read more

I have heard such great things about this place, so I wanted to check it out. When I walked in, the girl at the register gave me a glare and her eyes followed me as I walked pasted her to the clothing selections. I spent my time walking around and founding a few things I liked. Very Overpriced. Still, I found two light jackets I loved and proceeded to the register. The girl stared me down as I walked up, then asked me: "What do YOU want?" In a rude voice. I replied saying I want to buy these jackets. Then she rolled her eyes and took them from me. One had a price tag and the other didn't. The girl made a price up and it was a little overpriced. I said fine cause I just wanted to get out of there. She didn't even bag the jackets for me. As I left, her eyes still glared at me and followed me out the store. I felt the whole experience there was awkward and unwelcoming. read more

Tonight I experienced some of the worst customer service I ever have. I came downstairs with four friends at 8:40, well aware that the store closed at 9pm. Immediately the cashiers tells us "Just so you know, we close in 20 minutes". That's still a good amount of time to shop, and we knew we were going to buy so we tell them that's fine and begin looking around. After some browsing a friend finds an outfit and is checking it out in the mirror before purchasing. One of the cashiers says "We close in 5 minutes, just so you know". At which point another friend mentions to the mentions " I'm sorry, she's almost done". The same cashier, a blond with short curly hair, doesn't say a word but just smirks. Not a minute later she starts tapping on the counter with her nails whispering loud enough for me to hear "PLEASE LEAVE, PLEASE LEAVE, PLEASE LEAVE". I get it, I work in customer service, and completely understand when its time to close up shop so you can leave work and get on with your life, but this type of service is unnecessary and completely unprofessional. At that point two friends walk out and my other friend, unaware of the comments, purchases her outfit and we walk out at exactly 9pm. She is told about all of the comments by the cashiers, to which she states she regrets the purchase and wouldn't have bought the items if she had known what was said (she spent $50). Their attitude would have cost the store $50 for something that could have been avoided. Not once were we offered any kind help or guidance. Whoever hired these girls must have been in a tight spot because they seemed to lack any type of customer service skills and should look into investing into employees that actually about customers and the business itself, because tonight you this store just lost 5 long time customers. Needless to say, we'll be taking our business else where from now on. read more

The store itself had lots of cute clothes although it seemed quite overpriced. The largest problem was the staff. My friend purchased two (2) scrunchies, and a pair of pants. She only had a 100 dollar bill with her, but they let her pay with it because her purchase was $60. We were in a rush, so we didn't notice why it cost so much. As soon as we left, we realized they had charged her with buying 21 scrunchies instead of the 2 they bought. We were going to a show so we couldn't go back. Two hours later, we went back to the store. We went to the downstairs store, and we explained the situation to them. They started laughing at us and then they sent us upstairs. We were immediately greeted by a cashier with curly blond hair. She was not happy to see us. She grabbed our bags away and shoved them in the shelves where they keep them. We explained the situation to her, and she refused to give us our money back because she needed her manager. She asked us why we paid with $100, and we said that they told us it was okay. We walked away and came back shortly, again telling her that we needed a refund because they made a mistake. She treated us with so much sass and was so rude. She smirked at us and told us that there was nothing she could do (although she was the one in charge of the register so she should have known what to do). We had to get our parents involved and yet she was still so rude and disrespectful to us when we never did anything wrong; it was their staff in fact that made a mistake. I ordered a jacket, they sent me an email saying it was shipped, that was on the 17th of December, I heard nothing at all from them for a while, no update on shipping or anything. I tried the tracking number and it came with a map saying it was still in America. It was like that for 21 days and it showed up on my doorstep out of nowhere (7th of December). I ordered first class shipping and it took 21 days to arrive?? They didn't even send an email to confirm it had arrived. Its pretty unprofessional of them :/ And of course the actual jacket I ordered. When it arrived it didn't even come packed properly it was just the jacket in a cardboard box? It stank heavily of chemicals and there were many marks, debris and hair on it, completely and utterly disgusting. Even the printing of the receipt was horrible, you could barely read it. I deeply regret buying from this shop and would definitely not recommend. (It made the whole house stink so thats great :/ read more

I used to really like this store, but it's really gone downhill. I really do not like their policy of having to check in your purse. Why should I hand over my wallet? I used to work retail, and we were always trained that part of our job is loss prevention. Customer servicing is a good method of trying to stop shoplifting. When I've been there recently it hasn't been that busy. The grumpy clerks that are just standing there could actually do that themselves. Instead they stand behind the counter looking sullen. THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER IN THIRTY YEARS OF LIVING!!!! I pride myself on giving honest reviews so I will describe my adventure here with 100% accuracy. Let me start by saying that the store is a complete ripoff. They go around to thrift stores buying every sweater in sight for 3 to 4 dollars and then mark them up to 30 or 40 dollars. Now, if I bought a T.V. from a store for 300 dollars and sold it for 3000 dollars would you be ok with that? This aside, my girlfriend and I were on our way to an ugly sweater party for her work. We were running late so I did not notice that the sign on the way in said men's was downstairs and women's was upstairs. We found two sweaters quickly and reluctantly shelled out sixty bucks for used garbage. After leaving we noticed the sign and since we were in a hurry we agreed that she would go return one of them upstairs while I went in the mens section and found one. Now, their policy is no returns and with their prices I see why but the lady upstairs was willing to return it with a receipt. So as I am looking downstairs my girl comes and asks for it, I am in a hurry and totally don't realize that I shoved it in a small pocket in my wallet. She goes back upstairs and comes back down telling me that the lady just needs at tag so she knows how much the sweater was. We tear the tag off her sweater and she goes back upstairs. THEN THIS HIPSTER LOOKING WANNA BE WITH BLACK HAIR tells the guy standing next to her," It's soooo suspect that that girl just came down here, ripped a tag off one of our sweaters and took it back upstairs. " I get it, people steal, but if you think someone may be stealing from your store you do not say it as loud as possible when there are other ears around especially when you don't know if they are the with company, in this case me. SO I explain the situation to her and she just looks back at the guy next to her and repeats the same thing as if I never said anything but adding in," we don't even do returns but whatever I don't give a shit what they do up there". At this point my girlfriend comes back down stairs and I tell her it's time to leave because I don't want to give my money to some place like this. My girl tells her thank you because she is oblivious to the situation and I tell my girl not to thank her for crap but not in those exact words. TO THE GIRL BEHIND THE COUNTER, you work in a second hand retail store making eight bucks an hour at most, how cute. Just because you hate your lack of success in life doesn't mean you get to publicly accuse people of stealing and talk down on them as if you own the store. Not only that, but talking trash your co- workers while using profanity with a customer is exactly the reason you'll die sitting behind that counter. THIS STORE IS COMPLETE GARBAGE AND A WASTE OF MONEY. IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE CRAP FOR SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED DOLLARS THEN SHOP HERE. OTHERWISE GO HIT GOODWILL AND GIVE YOU CASH TO PEOPLE WHO APPRECIATE YOU :) read more

This place is awesome! Despite the fact that the entrance is basically in an alley, Ragstock is super cool. The staff was helpful and the prices were great. I got a shirt on sale for $2.50 (it was originally $5 but there was an extra 50% on sale items) and a pair of jean shorts for $6.00. I will definitely be coming here again! read more

I had a groupon. The cashier didn't know how to use it , which I get because I work retail too. She told her associate to go to the second floor to figure it out. He brought a sheet with him, which seemed to have the instructions on it. She figured it out 5 minutes later, and gave me my receipt. You have to triple check everything before you buy to make sure it wasn't tagged wrong, doesn't have gaping holes in it, etc. Their section of "new" clothing matching today's trends are the lowest quality possible, it makes forever21 look like Bloomingdales. this place is great for certain vintage things like coats & sweaters, super cheap. but watch out for holes & stains. i shouldn't give away my secrets, but some men's coats and jackets are up in the women's section & some women's coats are down below. i thnk they just don't pay close attention to where they put things. they have some new stuff as well, (almost certainly of the most sweat-shoppiest sort, though, judging by the prices), also pretty cheap. read more
