    My first time meeting Nori.

There is nothing better than getting to play with cats and kittens for an hour! And no better way for someone to meet a cat in a relaxed atmosphere to see if their personality is a good match. I am so glad I found Rahway Kitty Hall because I adopted my cat there (adoption application is made via Angel Paws shelter and rescue organization). Thank you, Rahway Kitty Hall!

We came here on a Monday night and had a blast with the kitties! They had a variety of full grown cats and kittens. The kittens were SO playful. Along with our group was another group of 5 adults and the kittens had enough energy to play with everyone, continuously for a the whole hour we were there! The adults cats were sweet as well. All of them had good temperaments. Some were more social, coming out into the larger group while others waited for you to approach them. The owner was kind and offered advice on how to interact with each of the cats. She knew each of their personalities and ensured that we had a great experience. In terms of pricing it's $10 a person per hour. You don't have to reserve a spot in advance, but there's limited space so it's advised. There was ample metered street parking when visited.

This place is probably in my list of top places I've visited in New Jersey. For just $10, you can spend an hour playing with, petting or just relaxing with a pretty solid group of adoptable cats. Keep in mind, all the cats are adoptable, so it's a great place to visit if you are considering getting a cat. Since you'll have time to spend with the cats inside, you can see which one really "picks" you. There was a nice mixture of cats here - some attention-seeking, some playful and some who just wanted to relax. The woman who operates the Kitty Hall spent time explaining to us each cat's preferences and what to do/not to do with each one, which was much appreciated! You can make reservations via their website, or drop-in. Since we decided at the last minute to visit, we just showed up. However, I can see times where it may be busy here. It's not the biggest room so it would not be optimal to come at a time where there are more than 6 people in the room. Overall, I am thankful for the woman who operates it for putting her own time and effort into taking care of the cats. It really shows how much she cares about giving them a loving place to stay and socialize. I will most definitely be back!

This place is amazing! I reserved an hour time slot for me and 3 friends to visit at the end of a long work day. Let me tell you, there is no better way to unwind and relax than to play with a group of adorable, adoptable kitties. The price is $10 per person. Money well spent. There is a half-maine coon kitty named Skittles with boundless amounts of energy that I teased with a wand toy for almost the whole hour. He was such a joy. All the kitties are sweet to people. Not saying it won't happen, but I didn't get hurt or hissed at by any of them. I highly recommend this place for any animal lover.

Relaxing, unique, immersive cat experience. You walk into the free roaming cat space and pet/play with them for as long as you'd like while chatting with the owner about each cat. All of the cats are up for adoption so it makes for a great place to see how they interact in an open space other than the local animal shelter where they are from. Not only is it so much fun being able to pet and play with them especially if you cannot adopt one at the moment, but the owner makes you feel so welcomed with refreshments and also a television. The most unique and relaxing date I have ever been on. Will definitely visit again!

Need to fill out a waiver to come in, appointment needed not required upon availability. I believe they open at 6 pm, dont quote me. 10 dollars are required for donation to upkeep the place. Cats are up for adoption as well, good place to come and relax with cats or even if you're looking to stop this is the place ! Glad to see there are new faces every time we go. My wife is always excited to come here when we are around the area. Definitely a good place for kids also .

    Kitties at heart lol

I love this place ! Even though it's far from us. We always manage to come back when my husband and I are in the area. Donations are much needed to keep up the place so ten dollars for an hour to play with cats ? A cute date night sounds about right. Common who wouldn't come here.all the cats are friendly and I love how this time around I only saw new faces. So they are definitely doing something right with the adoptions. Appointments can be done but they also accept walk ins.if you are a cat lover this place is definitely a good spot for you !!!

This is a rather small place; a trailer so to speak with super cute cats of all sizes and ages. When I first walked in, I was greeted by 2 very nice ladies that was extremely helpful and patient while I looked around at all of the cats. They will ask you if you have any pets and if you do- they will ask about their personalities. The one cool thing I liked about this place is that they let the cats walk around and allow you to play with them and hold them to get a feel for your future potential fur baby. They (the ladies) weren't pushy and was genuinely interested in getting to know who would be adopting those cats. One of the ladies even took me next door to show me another cat that might be a great companion for my cat that I have at home. They also have dogs here for adoption as well although very minimal. There is plenty of parking however when you come in drive very slow since there may be cats walking around. Overall, I would recommend adopting from here as you can tell the staff really cares about the pets. Although I didn't adopt today- I could totally see myself coming back as there were a few cats that I really liked.

I shall exclude the volunteer staff especially the younger ones who were amazing and so filled with love and ambition. But as for the rest of this rescue where one is supposed to be able to "Adopt"? What a laugh. Every other negative review I have read here on Angel Paws could not be more accurate in their experience. I had/saw the same upon taking my friend to adopt her second "fur-baby" (Is this a term now? I feel just as nuts as the lady running the joint). Long, long, and over dramatically short (which could have been unwarranted mind you). Arriving at opening in the evening, which seemed absurd to me to begin with, walking right in with several other families, we were greeted by lovely volunteers racing around trying to feed every little meow and squeek coming from every known corner of this small facility (I use that word as a kindness). I questioned if this was the first time that day these dear furry angels were seeing people. Most working said the owner did what she could during the day and they came at night, night being 6pm. Speaking of said owner, it was if she was the "man behind the curtain" heard of but never seen. My friend, after holding and bonding with 3 or 4 kittens believed she had found "the one". Filling out an application, as one would do, we were told we would be called within 1-2 days. Great! A week passes, I call and get voicemails, leave messages, never reach a person. She goes back for a second visit. The kitten is still their. She asks. Oh the owner has been terribly busy, but don't worry, this weekend latest, she says. The week and weekend come and go. So finally I go in myself. Because at every shelter and rescue I've worked at, to get one of these sweeties into a forever home? Top priority. And some I worked at went as far as a background check. Never did they take over a week. So yes, I went, I saw, I wanted to or may have not only shed a tear for my friend but also those poor cats and kittens trapped behind that glass window. Without needing to give reason my friend was rejected. Application declined. The owner deemed herself so high and mighty that not even a reason or explanation was given as a kindness. This is only of "those" places. A few bucks shy of the remaining "pet stores" there are. A lovely few from the front, but for the poor babies down in the basement (And oh yes, they are down there ) never seen in thsirnown mess, this "rescue" is a sham. The staff, whom I finally got to speak to me one on one all said the same. High adoption fees, low number of adoptions, abuse of funds, abuse of volunteer offered time, minors included folks. This nightmare of a "holier than thou" owner should have to face the furry jury for her crimes. Crazy cat lady would have been a relief compared to the monster described to me and read about in not only Yelp reviews, but upon further investigation into the community, and just about anyone whom has crossed her path. The same story rings true. Save yourself the time, and your children the tears. Not to mention the absurd $250 adoption fee. Which other than private rescues who strictly foster their litters, I have never seen that "price". There are some amazing rescues and shelters out there with babies and adults just as well deserving of a home. I highly recommend Somerset Animal Rescue in Bridgewater. And depending on your area the ASPCA or Woodbridge/Edison rescue. I just found my own newest addition to our family at Friends of Linden Shelter after a look on Petfinder.com Good luck to you all! Be safe and above all be smart! (Side note: For all who may need to surrender their loved pet for whatever the reason. Do NOT use Craigslist or give them to anyone who "claims" to be some kind of sanctuary that isn't legitimate. There are some mighty bad things and lives of little ones being lost this past year. Like I said. Safe, and smart.)

My son and I went into Angel Paws looking to adopt a pair of cats and wound up falling for two very sweet siblings who had been at their shelter for about a month. I filled out forms to adopt both of them and when I didn't hear back, returned 3 days later to visit the cats and check on our application. That night, finally , a volunteer called me and we spoke for about 20 minutes, going over the usual stuff, checking to see if I would declaw them, if cats are allowed where I live, what I'd feed them, my experience with animals, etc. and I explained that I've lived with cats all my life have a beautiful pet friendly home they could visit, and would gladly pay the $250 adoption fee for which they asked. I was told I'd hear back the next day as to when I could pick up the cats. A few more days passed, so I visited the cats again and checked on the application. This happened twice and then finally, 8 days after I filled out the initial forms, I received a brief email saying my application, "unfortunately" had been rejected. Don't waste your time here. Angel Paws is run by a crazy cat lady who thinks that no one other than she is qualified to take care of the cats and wants to keep them all for herself. I've raised cats my entire life and I'm unqualified to adopt two of theirs??? It's a shame, since a lot of good people volunteer there. I spoke to a number of them after this happened who told me my experience had been typical, stay away.

MatchDog Rescue has given me and my bf our first love, Hewitt…read more Before attending the event in Atco, we were given a phone call with a proper run down on how the event would work so we were not confused when we got there. They are extremely communicative, and the events are usually held on Saturdays, but the transport that was bringing the dogs in had troubles and the event ultimately had to be moved to Sunday. I had my phone call at about 11:15 and about 1 PM hours later I was informed about the date change. It is not a typical adoption shelter that I have been to in the past. At the event, there is a ticket system, as in, the earlier you get there the earlier you will be called. While you wait you mingle with the volunteers and the dogs. You get a vibe on which dog feels like the best fit for you. However, be mindful that the crew with MatchDog Rescue does their due diligence and wants the best for EVERY SINGLE DOG. We went to the event with a very specific dog in mind. One that was on the medium/large end. However, the staff that reviewed our application and lifestyle, let us know that the dog might not be the best fit for us in terms of training and size of our home. While it was disappointing to hear, we knew at heart we wanted what was best for the dog and us. As mentioned before there is a mingling period while waiting to be called on by staff. During this period you can meet dogs of all ages, sizes, and all types OUTSIDE of dog cages. We had met several different dogs during this period, just to name a few that I can remember, Nevada, Hewitt, Cassidy, Dukie, and Garret. We bonded with several dogs early on, but with our hearts set on a specific dog, we just enjoyed their presence. However, after being informed that the dog we had our hearts set on was not a good fit for us, we knew which of the many dogs we met during the mingling period we wanted to go on a walk with. We asked if Hewitt was a good fit for us, confirmed he was, took him on a little stroll around the lot, and knew that our hearts were set on him. We went through the process of adopting him and each volunteer we worked with, remembered Hewitt and always told us how he was such a great dog and a cute little snippet or fun fact about Hewitt. There was never a doubt in my mind that Hewitt was not loved under their care. On our way out with Hewitt, the last volunteer that we worked with walked us to our car, ensuring that Hewitt was buckled in and safe and had their very loving and sad goodbyes with each other. Hewitt has been with us for about a week. We are a very calm, but active couple and Hewitt matches exactly that for us. When we are relaxing, he is relaxing. When we are running, Hewitt is right there running with us. It is not something that I considered when I was looking into adopting a dog, but I am extremely grateful the staff at MDR let us know before adopting a dog. If ever in the future I am looking for a second dog, there is no doubt in my mind that MDR will be the first adoption agency I look into.
