My friend and I stopped by Railyard Artisans Market on a pre-Christmas weekend. There were perhaps 30-40 vendors at a market, most of them produces, food, edible items, with less non-edible items. My friend really liked the the ambiance around the market. It's not too big and parking is relatively easy to find when we stopped by around 8-9am on a Saturday (we parked near the railyard station and there were plenty of (paid) street parking. But by the time we were back from the market, all the spots were filled up already). My friend got paintings from a vendor at Santa Fe Plaza the day prior to our visit to the railyard...and the next day ran into the same vendor again at Railyard market...so he bought more paintings from them and we had a good chat with them about their paintings! Overall, a great place to stop by. I don't suppose I would come here to shop for my groceries to get everything there at this market...but it's a good place to get a nice feel of Santa Fe, take visitors to see another side of Santa Fe, and take photos perhaps with the Santa Fe Market tall structure with Santa Fe Railyard name on it and with roadrunner train cabins nearby the station for sure. read more

After reading the reviews, I found that they were stale so I made a point to attend to see where they have progressed. It's a wonderful little market with room to grow. Many artists with handmade products including paintings, jewelry, soaps, sewing, and much more. Highly recommend heading that way if you like to support local artists and take something home that is authentically made in Santa Fe. read more

Railyard Artisan Market - people shopping for items - Farmers Market Near Me - Santa Fe, New Mexico

Has so much potential, but falls short of being an awesome spot as things are. Out of 20+ artisans there, it seemed most offered a more eclectic/older aesthetic with the exception of 1-2 stalls that had some stuff I might be interested in that were made locally. I think once this starts to attract younger artists this will be a great place to shop, the space itself is amazing! read more

As both a vendor and a customer I think the Sunday Railyard Artisan Market is one of Santa Fe's little know treasures. All the artists are local, and all the merchandise must be made by the artist. I have purchased from many of the vendors here and plan to shop with others! We have new vendors all the time and great food that supports YouthWorks Santa Fe. The space is NMSAFE certified, masks are required and there is plenty of fresh air. read more

We went here expecting some good art and crafts. We are from Denver and wanted to ge something fun and different since that is what the ads said do we made it out last stop before heading back to Denver. What a disappointment. Seemed like just the normal stuff you see anywhere. The people selling the health supplements that is sold all over no real art of jewelry that you would expect in Santa Fe. People selling seemed bored or bothered when asked about something in their booth. We just expected more art and other items to be better. read more

The Farmers Market at the Railyard turns into an Artisan Market on Sunday, but it sadly misses the mark. Individual stalls become a flea market of sorts. We were looking forward to finding handmade local goodies that are uniquely Santa Fe to bring home, but lots of the stalls were candles, soaps, and the like that could be found anywhere. There was one stall where the guy was selling handmade stone knives, which we were interested in, but he was too busy taking personal phone calls rather than focusing on the customer. read more

Handcrafted work has gained mainstream appeal (cue Etsy), but interested me since I first attended the astounding Kings Mountain Art Fair in California some 14 years ago. Meeting and supporting the diverse work of artists is far more rewarding than buying mass produced merchandise, although it can be a luxury. Santa Fe has no shortage of artists, so a visit to this weekly artisans' market was a must. Held in the same place as the famed farmers market, the Market Pavilion, by the rail depot in the Railyard District. Inside the huge space are the artisans' tables, lined in loose rows with plenty of space in between. Not as crowded as I expected, but the work present was very diverse, ranging from bags made of resilient woven vinyl in sophisticated patterns and shades, etched and painted copper bracelets, bars of hand lotion, intricate and fanciful handmade greeting cards and decor, and more. Quality is generally very high. The artists are present to discuss as well as sell their work, personalizing the shopping experience. It is easy to spend more time than the number of artisan tables might suggest just to learn more about the creation processes, their inspirations, and use and care of the products. A terrific artisan's market worth visiting. read more

Gayle and I joined her Sister Erin and Hubby Jim on a recent pleasant Saturday morning stroll through the Railyard Artisans Market. There were actually 2 markets going on: the Artisan's part on one side of the tracks and the larger Farmer's Market on the other. I really appreciate and support local art, and there's certainly a very nice representation here. Of course, something did strike my fancy, but don't tell Gayle. :) read more
