Bacon & Egg on a Green Chile Cheddar Bagel
    Emily Y.

Pretty great bagel sandwich. I'm not usually a bagel person because I don't like how dense and chewy they are, but I found this bagel easy to bite into. The cheese on the green chile cheese bagel was nice and crispy and went well with the crispy bacon and super fluffy eggs. The place is pretty small so if you're looking for a place to sit for a while, you might not find a seat inside. There's more seating outside though, and once the sun comes out, it warms up nicely.

This café is in a cute little house with a lovely patio, which we sat on to eat breakfast. I tried to play Miss Pac-Man inside while we waited for food, but I was unsuccessful. The first room has tables, chairs, and a fireplace. You order at a counter in the second room, and someone brings out your food. We are trying to decide what style bagel it is. It is not a New York bagel, but maybe a Montreal bagel. We had the combo bagel with veggie cream cheese. The veggie cream cheese was delicious and had lots of veggies in it. The combo on the bagel was sesame and poppy. The other sandwich we had was the cheddar green chili, but not much green chili was on it; mostly, cheddar cheese. We made that Ona sandwhich with very crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, and a nice egg on it.

Tiny little place with fresh baked bagels, pastries and coffee. Limited indoor seating with patio seating available. We ordered the sesame bagel, toasted, with Green Chile cream cheese (what else in Santa Fe? Had to try), a couple of cheese danish and two lattes rounded out the order. Bagel had good crumb and chew. Nicely rendered NY bagel at altitude. Impressive! The bagel could have benefited from a little oil or butter to conduct heat during griddle toasting and help crispiness of toasted surface. The green chile cream cheese was a nice addition. The danish were perfectly flaky and tender. Amazing texture and flavor. Easily some of the best pastries we've had...anywhere. Nicely rendered lattes were tasty. This place was within walking distance from the historic Hilton hotel. Was good enough that we went the next morning. Give it a try!

We loved this local cafe! I devoured my waffle bowl with eggs and maple syrup, and my smoothie. We also tried the Breakfast sandwich and iced tea and loved that too. Eclectic interior, patio seating, and some parking available.

A waste of $. I spent nine dollars for an egg sandwich. I just showed you how much cheese is on the very end and the small egg. It was all bread. All you could taste was bread. And I didn't buy bread. You could have at least given me one entire piece of cheese. And an egg that could span the entire piece of bread. I want my money back and I'm giving you one star review here. The woman at the counter was nasty. I will not be returning nor will I recommend your place. It's too bad because I support independent stores in Santa Fe. I ended up going to co-op so I could at least have a full piece of egg that span the entire piece of bread and that egg from the co-op cost me six more dollars.

Was greeted with a very friendly employee at the counter and then had to mull over my options because so many of the bagels and pastries looked great! Went with the Green Chili cheese bagel and put egg and cheese on it. A wonderful breakfast sandwich with fluffy eggs and melted cheese. Very pleased. Did add a bit of salt and pepper to complete it but was a great start to the day with this sandwich. Chai tea had that needed spice level. Yum

The most memorable part about BoulTawns was the extremely friendly staff. We were greeted by a smiling face eager to take our order. The space was also very inviting and had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Good vibes all around. Being in New Mexico, of course I had the green chili cheese bagel. The bagel was fluffy and nicely toasted. Plenty of cream cheese on it (almost too much, but better to have more than not enough). Now for the hard part of the review.... the coffee. I ordered an iced latte, pretty basic. It was so bad. The roast was very burnt and I didn't even drink it, leaving to go get coffee somewhere else. I would definitely come back for the service and the space, but not the coffee.

Dang, I was not expecting the perfect flaky pastry from this little hippy-looking coffee shop! So delicious. When I got it I thought "maybe I should get a to-go bag and save half for later," but it was so fluffy and light, with the perfect raspberry filling, you can guess what happened. The coffee is good, too, but honestly I was so blown away by the pastry I didn't really notice it. There are a few little tables and a sofa inside and tables outside. They have games, too, to make it more of a community space. I'll have to go back and try their bagels! I was able to walk there, so can't comment on the parking situation, but it seemed like they should be finishing up the road construction any day now. Go get some breakfast--you won't regret it!

Woweeeee!!!!!!! I love the fact my big sister drove me to Sante Fe knowing I lived in NYC for 8 years and missed my bagels and primarily MY BIALYS!!!!! And couldn't find what I wanted in ABQ. Service was wonderful, be had the pup with us and I got my "bialys and coffee" and played free pac man!!! Next time if I can I'm pre-ordering stuff to bring back to ABQ. The little courtyard is cool too especially for pups who like to sunbathe.

My husband and I stopped by after a hike for an afternoon snack. We got coffee which wasn't the best but the bagel was so nice, chewy and fresh!! Loved the hatch chile cream cheese too. We went to come back for more of these before we leave Santa Fe. Service was really friendly too!! Give this spot a try!! Yummmm.

The café has a cool, modern vibe with plenty of indoor seating as well as a nice outdoor patio. They were very busy on a Saturday morning. The counter staff was very matter-of-fact. Not rude, but not especially warm or welcoming either. Honestly, I got the impression she was just under a lot of stress. We also asked another staff member if we could use one of the patio umbrellas (they were all closed for some reason), and he was prompt and friendly, which we appreciated. We ordered a toasted everything bagel with cream cheese, a meat-filled empanada, a honey latte, and a cold brew. The cold brew was a little too dark for my taste, though coffee preferences are definitely subjective. Interestingly, there's a place in Albuquerque that has an almost identical flavor profile. The toasted everything bagel was very good, but it didn't come with quite enough cream cheese. The single cream cheese packet also felt a bit lackluster presentation-wise. That said, when we asked for more, the response was friendly and accommodating. The honey latte had beautiful latte art and great flavor, definitely a highlight. The empanada, filled with ground beef, green chile, and piñon, was a bit over-toasted, but the filling itself was flavorful, even if somewhat sparse. Overall, I think 35 North has a lot going for it and could easily elevate the experience with a few small improvements to consistency and customer service.

The inside is dirty and uninviting but I was needing a place right away so I committed. The carrot cake looked really good so I asked the girl for a piece. She was very odd. I also care about the vibe of a place, so the breakdown is 5-star coffee drinks, but ho-hum 3-star service, hence the 4-star review instead of the 5 I would've loved to have reported here. The place is a few blocks from where we stayed and was easy to walk to and find, knowing I'd be looking for a sign with a few animals on it and it may not be obvious to some that this business is a coffee shop. I ordered the Crash of Rhinos, which fits their clever theme. The drink was just sweet enough and unique and flavorful. However, when we walked in, there was no barista or anyone at the front to greet us; we didn't mind waiting a minute or two for someone to show up since it was clearly open and there were a couple customers inside (and duh, we were on vacation and not in a hurry). When the nose-ringed hipster-looking girl came around the corner I was disappointed that we were not greeted with a smile or a good morning, or "sorry to keep you waiting" kind of phrase. She took our order, made our drinks, and did not say thank you (I did, and tipped her $2. Why, I'm not sure). That was that. Hubs ordered the spicy mocha drink and it was a bit much; he decided it would be better iced or he'd try a different selection next time. Yes, there was a next time. Different barista, same kind of treatment. Still tipped just because I was a barista for many years and know this really helps supplement a worker's salary and encourage good communication with customers. This time I ordered the Murmuration of Starlings latte, which has rosemary, thyme, and cardamom notes. It was delicious but similar to the Crash of Rhinos drink. The third time we visited we entered through the Chocolate and Cashmere shop next door. I found it funny that the nose ring barista girl happened to be in that shop talking to the girl who worked there, but when we walked in, she quickly exited back to the coffee shop to sit with the other barista at a table in the coffee shop. The chocolate shop girl was so sweet and we even visited their location in the Plaza a day later and she was just as nice, even though that day we did not make a purchase. Overall I do recommend Crash Murder Business for their coffee drinks, but don't expect friendly service. (If you're looking for that, go to Iconik up the street!) Just because you work at a coffee shop and you have a cool haircut does not make you above others. Especially when small businesses work to please their customers and should encourage their return. Kind of a shame...but I would still go back for the coffee if I were ever in town again.
