It was a spontaneous decision to stop here to get some breakfast to go and it was a great decision. We got scrambled egg, ham & cheddar cheese on a croissant which was perfect. We got a plain bagel with the honey almond smear and the star of the show was the red chili bagel with sea salt and Sun dried tomato smear. They don't skimp on their servings. Even though we were taking it to go, while we waited we took in the eclectic decor. This place is in a converted home. There are a few tables inside and some outside. The staff and customers were friendly. Keep in mind there are only 2 parking spots, but Santa Fe is a walkable area. We could have walked from our Hilton Villa had we not been on our way. The parking is a little confusing when you first pull in. If you pull in to the driveway and go straight, there are residences in the back. Probably not a good idea to park there. However if you pull in and make a quick left, there are two spaces available for the bakery. This is a cute little bakery with friendly staff. I got two everything bagels. They make the bagels on site. We were not very enamored with their bagels. They were rather bland without any spread. We would probably try another place next time we're in the area. read more

Don't miss this little jewel. We're staying near The Plaza and I came by while I was walking. The owner, Tawn, is a great guy / small business owner. It's a small place with HUGE flavors. We've tried the breakfast sandwich with both bacon and sausage - both were on the green chili bagel and were amazing. My wife got the same bagel with sun-dried tomato schmear...also excellent! His cinnamon buns and fruit-filled croissants are also a "10". Great food, great owner, fair prices. read more

Pretty great bagel sandwich. I'm not usually a bagel person because I don't like how dense and chewy they are, but I found this bagel easy to bite into. The cheese on the green chile cheese bagel was nice and crispy and went well with the crispy bacon and super fluffy eggs. The place is pretty small so if you're looking for a place to sit for a while, you might not find a seat inside. There's more seating outside though, and once the sun comes out, it warms up nicely. read more

It is not a New York bagel, but maybe a Montreal bagel. We had the combo bagel with veggie cream cheese. The veggie cream cheese was delicious and had lots of veggies in it. The combo on the bagel was sesame and poppy. The other sandwich we had was the cheddar green chili, but not much green chili was on it; mostly, cheddar cheese. We ordered the sesame bagel, toasted, with Green Chile cream cheese (what else in Santa Fe? Had to try), a couple of cheese danish and two lattes rounded out the order. Bagel had good crumb and chew. Nicely rendered NY bagel at altitude. Impressive! The bagel could have benefited from a little oil or butter to conduct heat during griddle toasting and help crispiness of toasted surface. The green chile cream cheese was a nice addition. The danish were perfectly flaky and tender. Amazing texture and flavor. Easily some of the best pastries we've had...anywhere. A waste of $. I spent nine dollars for an egg sandwich. I just showed you how much cheese is on the very end and the small egg. It was all bread. All you could taste was bread. And I didn't buy bread. You could have at least given me one entire piece of cheese. And an egg that could span the entire piece of bread. I want my money back and I'm giving you one star review here. The woman at the counter was nasty. I will not be returning nor will I recommend your place. It's too bad because I support independent stores in Santa Fe. The most memorable part about BoulTawns was the extremely friendly staff. We were greeted by a smiling face eager to take our order. The bagel was fluffy and nicely toasted. Plenty of cream cheese on it (almost too much, but better to have more than not enough). Now for the hard part of the review.... the coffee. I ordered an iced latte, pretty basic. It was so bad. The roast was very burnt and I didn't even drink it, leaving to go get coffee somewhere else. This place is super bi-polar. Sometimes the bagels are great, but often they are terrible. I fully agree with the comments stating the staff is rude and dismissive. Dang, I was not expecting the perfect flaky pastry from this little hippy-looking coffee shop! So delicious. When I got it I thought "maybe I should get a to-go bag and save half for later," but it was so fluffy and light, with the perfect raspberry filling, you can guess what happened. The coffee is good, too, but honestly I was so blown away by the pastry I didn't really notice it. There are a few little tables and a sofa inside and tables outside. They have games, too, to make it more of a community space. I'll have to go back and try their bagels! I was able to walk there, so can't comment on the parking situation, but it seemed like they should be finishing up the road construction any day now. Based on recent reviews, we wanted to try this establishment. Due to construction it was difficult to get to. This of course was a minor inconvenience. Parking is very difficult as the location is in a somewhat residential area. There were very few spaces. Unfortunately it went down hill from there. When we entered there was no one to greet us. We just went to the counter to order. There was no menu. I saw bagels so I ordered one. Asked want the daily quiche was and was answered with attitude. We asked her to repeat and she was totally annoyed. We ordered coffee and was directed to the station where all the sugar and creamer was. The icing on the cake was the spoiled milk in the thermos! The bagel was tasteless and the quiche mediocre. This place is dirty and obviously the board of health has not visited lately! read more

Super nice folks to see in the morning. Got the green chili bagel with green chili cream cheese one morning and with veggie omelette (with green chili) on another. Generously filled - Very filling. They did my half calf latte with almond milk (fancy!) perfect, both hot and iced. They have a few tables inside and out, and two parking spaces just past. It's great for reliable good food and coffee in the morning to get you on your way. Also... they have other things without green chili but I may never know. read more

Her egg and cheese on sesame was nice, whereas my green chile bagel with a green chile schmear (I had to, of course) was delicious. While a little fluffier and cakier than that classic NY chew, it was a nice and satisfying breakfast. Boultawn's is a perfect spot for a little variety at breakfast in Santa Fe. read more

My husband and I were staying in a rental for 11 days that was I believe 3-4 doors away from this bagel place. We went in to try it. I know good bagels. It's possibly my favorite thing to have for breakfast so I'll mention the food first. I know this is a person preference thing, but for me ENTIRELY too much cream cheese and I got the red Chile and sea salt bagel with sun-dried tomato cream cheese. The bagel was crumbling apart in sections. I've not seen a bagel do that before so it just became a mess. The real, real, real problem was with the help there. We only saw and dealt with one large, tall, white woman with very short brown hair and she was AWFUL. She wouldn't look at you at all, made almost a point of looking annoyed and frowny faced. You asked her a question and she'd begrudgingly mumble an answer. I was gonna let it go, let it go... Then my husband starts messing with this PAC man game thing they have there. I assume that's the point and there was a sign about some part of the controller being broken, away from where you'd actually touch that. He innocently didn't see the sign and proceeded and then just asked a question about it and that's when she proceeds to say "THAT'S WHY THERE'S A SIGN THERE!!" Very much so intentionally being snarky and unpleasant and just annoyed with life most likely. We had words after she decided to disrespect and set out to make us feel both annoying and stupid. So, in short, your bagels are in no world good enough to deal with your insulting staff and you lost days and days of our tourist business. read more

Tip: there are 2 spots to the left of the Cafe in front of a house. Loved the small but quaint dining area inside. Greated with a smile. There are nice outside tables, but noisy with construction so inside. Ordered two dishes pictured. I had the waffle bowl with egg, cheese, sausage. Small serving but tasty. Suzi had the Eggs Benedict on a Baily. Tough to cut with plastic ware and sauce was very runny. She didn't care for it. Overall, treated an average based on our food experience. read more
