Food.... this isn't really Thai Food. I mean we ordered two different noodle dished (Pad Si Ew and the Spicy Basil) and first of all the noodles aren't your typical "Thai Noodles" that should accompany these dishes! Ehhh, so keeping in mind that this is chattanooga, I'd say this is probably your "Americanized version of Thai food". The decor and service was actually very nice, they have a fun water fall type fountain in the walls and a nice ambiance about the place. Our server was also nice, smiled a lot and was attentive. I was not overly impressed with my lunch today. I had a sushi lunch special and an order of spring roles. The sushi was much thinner than I would have expected. The restaurant looks nice and has a great atmosphere but the service and food don't match the place and how nice it is at all. - our waiter gave us drinks in a good amount of time but then left without getting our order for 15 minutes. when he finally came and got our order for spring rolls as an appetizer and pad Thai as the entre, he was rude and distant (not really how you want a waiter to be) and he left and disappeared completely. we waited 50-60 min for our appetizer (no one even came to see if we needed anything during this hour), which he wouldn't even bring himself. I saw him watch another waiter serve it to us. then our food came 2 minutes later. the food was a different story. sorry If this is gross but it tasted and smelled like cat food. it was gross and my friend and I almost threw up. the shrimp was cold and basically raw and my chicken was almost all tendons... we sent it back but we felt sick all night after that. this place didn't take us seriously because we are younger so maybe they didn't think we would tip. I'm a waitress I know tips are what you live off of so if you give me good service ill take care of you. but the place wasn't busy so there was no excuse for such horrible slow service. not a good experience. will never go there again. read more

Halfway descent Thai place. Nice ambiance, food was small portions with too much sauce. Sushi was a disappointment. It seemed prepackaged. I tried to order a Thai favorite that wasn't on the menu and the waiter said they only were able to cook from the menu. This is our favorite Thai restaurant... period. Whenever we go to other Thai restaurants we judge them against Rain Thai Bistro (seriously). I haven't had anything here that deserved a bad review. This place has a nice dining atmosphere--I love eating in the "Rain Room." The food is always fresh & tasty, portions are usually generous, although I've had some sushi rolls in the past that were a little on the small side. But this place strives to make your experience a good one. They have passion for what they do and it shows. The manager will frequently check on tables to make sure everything is acceptable. This place is definitely worth a visit! read more

Ate Rain tonight with my daughter and ordered the steak salad. When the salad came out, the meat was cold, pale white, and didn't look like steak at all. The salad dressing was on the side and had a foul odor. My daughter ordered a Thai tea, and when it was time for a refill the waiter asked if we would like one and said there was no charge. When we received our bill he charged us an extra $3.00. The waiter could tell that I was unhappy. This place has always been great in the past, but this time it gets 1 star from me. read more

I have ate here several times and always enjoyed the food. Sometimes I am by myself and sometimes I am with family or friends. I am an older person and I do eat out a lot by myself. I went there on a Saturday around 4:15. There were 2 couples in the lobby waiting and no one outside. When I signed in they said that it would be a few minutes and I said that's OK. In about 10 minutes they called on the couples who was waiting and in about another 5 minutes they called the second couple that was waiting. Shortly after that another couple came in the front door and stated that there was 2 in there party and they sat down. In a few minutes they called them back. I walked up to the counter and said very politely "I believe that I should have been next because that couple just came in a few minutes ago." This young man looked at me and says what is your name? I gave him my name and he says that they are waiting for a one top table to become available. I explained to him that I did not know what a one top table was but it didn't seem quiet right that they were sitting people ahead of me just because I was by myself. He asked me to have a seat and he would see what he could do. I did and he did. I was seated at a table past the bar and that was OK and my waiter was OK. My food was great but I started wondering what the hostess told the waiter because I had to stop him in order to get my check and he never checked on me the entire time that I was there. I did ask for a to go box and he brought me one and then I had to stop another waitress to ask her if I could bet a plastic bag to put my to go box in. Your food is fantastic but I was so disappointed in the service as far as being seated and being served. I noticed while I was waiting on a table that there were at least 3 or 4 people just standing around the counter up front. They seemed to be lost in wonderland. I hope that this kind of service is not what you expect from your employees. Yes I did leave the waiter a tip. Came here last night and I was HUNGRY! We first ordered the spring rolls and honestly, I could have eaten 5 plates of them myself. I didn't get very long to look through the entire menu so I ordered the chicken pad Thai, it was OK. I honestly would probably get something different the next time I go. I agree with the previous poster on "Impressive facade" but that is where Rain ceases to impress. The service is always slow and not even that friendly. I have had to endure several business luncheons here and a few dinners. I have more than once gotten the wrong order, once waited an hour for lunch to arrive after ordering (it was also the wrong dish; how do you mess up fried rice???); once I ordered garlic chicken which tasted like chinese buffet quality and no garlic. The sushi rolls are tiny and overpriced, equal also Chinese buffet sushi. I mean, it was good, but if I can get the same sushi for a $6.50 buffet, I'm going to do that! Or at Publix for that matter. The curry tasted ok if you can get past the fact that it looks like vomit. I have had better curry in many other restaurants in Chicago, New York, etc. but I can't say that I have in Chattanooga. Also not very chunky curry, just basically the liquid, very skimpy. Manager was rude to me when the girl taking phone orders quoted me the wrong price. Did NOT want to give it to me for the price the girl quoted for the "special" but did without apologizing, very un-managerial! Fried rice is the greasiest I have ever had and you never get the same dish twice, sometimes it has broccoli, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes flavor, sometimes not. I think they probably have a high employee turnover if they treat their employees anywhere near like they treat the customers. Overall, very dissatisfied and would never go here again by choice. One bad experience? I give them another chance. But only one good experience and 5 or 6 very bad experiences? You've had more than enough chances. Rain! I'm done! read more

Atmosphere- nice decor, the dining room has a trendy feel and was very clean. The wall fountains added a nice touch in keeping with the name. Date/ social outing friendly. Service- I was greeted with underwhelming welcome and seated in the bar section. The service was okay, not bad and not wonderful. Food- I had the veggie spring rolls, beautiful but tasteless. I also had Thai Curry medium spicy and a Thai Tea. Very nice, good taste, next time I will go spicier. The portion was acceptable. Overall I was satisfied with my lunch. Price- one person/ appetizer main and a drink under $20. I will be back after giving some other places a try. read more

Better than your average microwaved carry out Thai place, but also pricier. I went on a Wednesday evening and they were very busy. My family of 5 came here and (with tip included) spent about $120. Was what we got worth that much?---no. We started with the 2 vegetarian options on the menu for appetizers. Crispy spring rolls and fresh spring rolls with plum sauce. Crispy spring rolls----were good. The fresh rolls were, and I'm sorry but there's just no other way to describe them---pathetic. The only vegetable in them was a wilty thin, slice of cucumber. Then a bunch of noodles. The plum sauce was a sugary/syrupy mess. I've had solid plum sauce and with fresh rolls----it takes it to another level! This was----sad. Fresh rolls should come stuffed with carrots, cucumbers, and lovely herbs. Whatever this was, was a half ass failed experiment. The dishes were, "meh." I love how my vocabulary today is so stellar. But, that's pretty much the best I can do to describe this. Nothing memorable, nothing that would make me go---"oh man, I'm really craving their________." Just below mediocre grub. Ps: for our size party, they automatically add 18 percent gratuity. I'm a solid 20% tipper...if not more, so I threw $7 bucks on top of their automated tip..,.but I thought it was strange for automatic gratuity to be added to a party of 5----because that's really nothing. read more

Went to this place during the holidays, a friend suggested this place. They have a nice looking decor and interiors, the staff is very professional and attractive.
