Zane and Logan were wonderful, respectful and explained the process to me. There were no red flags - others wanted a fee for private cremation but if you wanted to observe the chamber they then asked for an additional $350 for that. Logan did a wonderful job with the clay paw prints. Everything about them made me feel like I was in good hands. I actually chose to drive to their location and it was worth the 1-hour one-way trip! They treated Duke with the respect and dignity he deserved after his passing and in preparation for his cremation. They also were compassionate and supportive toward me. They helped ensure I was prepared to make informed decisions for how I wanted to handle things and have the most optimal outcome during the worst experience I've been through. If you choose to go to their location to observe or wait for the cremation to occur, they have a welcoming building for you to wait in. It's thoughtfully decorated to give you a sense of peace and calm while you want to receive your pet's remains to take home. The wooden box you'll receive your pet in and the accompanying keepsakes are all put together in a manner that provides you something to cherish afterwards. Unfortunately, in searching to find what business I wanted to use I noticed that there are a lot of financially predatory ones. He let me take my time to say goodbye, gave me a paw print with fur clippings and a little glass of his ashes along side his ashes in an urn. We suddenly lost our beloved Sadie Rose and within minutes found Rainbow Bridge online. We called and the brothers set up an appointment for the very next morning. It was a little over an hour's drive but the trees and mountains were beautiful and serene. Logan was so kind and accommodating. He took the time to explain everything and then asked about our girl and gave condolences. He took some hair clippings and a paw print and then left us to say goodbye for however long we needed. Our other dog was allowed to be there to say goodbye as well. He has an air-conditioned room to sit in while you wait. Comfortable couches, a water bowl for dogs, and restroom it was all very nice. Having a private cremation where your beloved pet is the only cremation being done and you can be there the entire time is such a relief after experiencing the pain of losing them. I can not recommend Rainbow Bridge enough. The brothers are so kind and considerate and you never feel like you're being taken advantage of during the process. We rescued our German Shepherd four and half years ago. He instantly became attached to my husband, sticking by his side and going everywhere he went. Because if this we renamed him Elmer. As in "sticks to you like glue. Elmer's Glue. He was the sweetest gentle giant weighing over 100 pounds. He passed away at home quite unexpectedly in November. It was late in the evening on a Sunday. We were devastated. I called Rainbow Bridge at 11:30 PM and spoke with one of John's sons. Speaking to a real person and being able to make arrangements was comforting. We made plans for Elmer to be picked up on Monday morning. A few days later I drove out to pick Elmer up. I drove to the kennel. A beautiful drive through the foothills and I felt such a sense of peace. When I arrived I met John. He took his time to see peak with me and actually gave me a tour of the kennel. Due to kidney failure sadly we had to euthanize our 23 yo cat on Wednesday. Friskie had 2 vets, one was holistic. They both recommended different cremation companies, both promised private cremations. I did extensive research into the 2 different companies and found complaints against both. Losing bodies, sending wrong pets paw prints etc. I rejected both. I was very determined to get the right company as we cremated our other cat 20 years ago and found out years later it was a communal cremation, not ashes of our beloved cat. Then I found Rainbow bridge, a family owned and run business. They also own kennels. First I spoke to Zane who assured me that Friskies ashes will be hers and hers only. Me being the cynic I am I decided to drive Friskie's body myself to the crematorium and stay with her all steps of the process. Logan, the owners son, greeted me and gave me time to say goodbye. He told me to take my time and let him know when I was ready. It took me a good 15 minutes until I could let go. There was no rushing me at all. Logan told me in advance what to expect in the chamber room. Then Logan took Friskie into the chamber room as I followed. I was pleasantly surprised that each chamber was large enough for only one body. This place only did private cremations. This was very reassuring. Logan was very patient with my questions. About an hour and a half the process was complete. I left with the ashes which Logan placed in a beautiful carved wooden box. Logan also put some ashes in a tiny vial so you can carry them as you want along with some fur clippings. All were lovingly wrapped with a ribbon. Going to the crematorium yourself with your beloved pet is not for everyone. But it is something I wanted to do just to be 100% certain the cremains were of my cat only. If you decide to go as I did, be assured you and your pet will be greeted and handled with kid gloves. Logan and his dad, very friendly, made me feel at ease, offering coffee and lunch although I didn't feel like eating. There was another very nice man named John too. I highly recommend Rainbow Bridge to everyone even if you don't go to the crematorium as I did. You can be assured the cremains will be of your pet and your pet only. I lost my beautiful cockatiel after 14 years. Mango was an important part of our family, and I always knew I wanted to honor him the right way when he passed. No one ever really feels "ready" when it happens, and I was no exception. His avian vet office wasn't open, so I was completely lost. After some quick research, I was upset at some of the services many crematories offered. I finally stumbled upon Rainbow Bridge and I am so happy that I did. Not only would Mango be individually cremated, but he would be placed in a gorgeous wooden urn. From the research I've done, these added services can cost a lot of money! The pricing is incredible and really helped cement that this was the best option for all of us. I chose to have him picked up and cremated the following day. Overnight, I couldn't sleep because I knew I wanted to be there during his cremation. I texted the owner early in the morning and asked them to hold Mango for one more day so I could be there. The actual crematory is not gory and scary. I felt comforted knowing that Mango had other little "friends" going on the same journey that day. I placed flowers, treats, and covered him with a shroud. I was even allowed to press the button to begin the cremation process. This may be a lot for some people, but I consider myself death-positive and this helped me so much with my grieving. I can't say enough about the staff at Rainbox Bridge. Our Daisy passed away while my GF and I were on vacation. Rainbox Bridge was the first place that popped up and called. The staff there was so empathetic. As I was trying to coordinate with our dog/house sitter and Rainbox Bridge, they were more than accommodating talking at times with myself, my GF, and the dog sitter to make arrangements. They weren't worried about getting the credit card number and payment and just wanted to make sure we got things organized. Our sitter was able to drop of Daisy there and they were able to hold her till we got back so we could say our final goodbyes. Going up there, you could feel the empathy in all the employees you dealt with. Never feeling rushed, never feeling like they were trying to sell you things. Understanding that you are grieving. On Tuesday, July 25,2017 we had to say goodbye to our 17 yr old boy, Murphy. We also have Larkin whom is Murphy's litter mate. They've never been separated until now. We brought Murphy back home so his brothers could know he was gone. We knew we wanted the brothers to stay together and cremation allowed this to happen. Personally knowing John and his caring nature, we knew to call Rainbow Bridge. John personally came to our home to receive Murphy. He carefully placed him in a very nice cloth bag with a handle on each side and carried and placed him in the vehicle with the upmost care. In less than 24 hours we had Murphy back. He was placed inside a beautiful hand carved wooden box, some of his fur was in a small bag tied with a blue ribbon, a small vial of his cremains, a certificate of cremation, the rainbow bridge poem, all placed with dignity in a white box. So, my hamster died recently and I didn't want to bury her. She was my husband and I's first hamster and we really loved her. We tend to move a lot so I wanted to have her cremated so she is always with us. I called rainbow bridge and they were SO nice to us. Only after I talked briefly with Carol on the phone, I realized how warm and caring she was, and I believed all the comments here are true. When I took Zhuzhu there, I met John since Carol was on vacation. John was such a great person with a big warm heart. He handled my baby with caring and love, just as Zhuzhu was sleeping instead of being dead. During the whole process, John had light hearted conversations with me to keep me sane since I would pass out when I saw my baby got burnt to ashes in front of me. I couldn't think of anything more he needed to do for me and my baby. My beautiful 15 year cat, Laska, died on May 26, 2017 from kidney disease and I wanted her to have a private cremation. Catoctin Vet in Leesburg told me about Rainbow Bridge Pet Services and I am so happy that I chose them. They promptly arrived to pick up my Laska. I had heard that other companies put your beloved pet in a plastic bag and can be stored in a freezer until they show up, but NOT Rainbow Bridge! They have designed wonderful cloth bags so that your pet may be treated with care and dignity. They NEVER put them in a freezer. It was a blessing to know that my little Laska's body was treated with loving care and respect just like she received while she was alive. She received a private cremation so that I know only her ashes were returned to me. The lovely wood urn has a delightful carving on top and I was also given some of her fur and a miniscule bottle of ashes with a ribbon besides. It was beautiful presentation for my Laska. As hard as it is to let a beloved pet go, I feel comforted to know that Rainbow Bridge Pet Services is there to help with the transition.
