I reached out to the business and they were super responsive. I asked if they could make it in Dark Chocolate and they were able to! So I placed an order. The shop is a little hard to find but they were quick to answer the call that I was lost. Trust your maps! We picked up the order and it was a hit! The little hammer that's included is such a cute touch. The Dark Chocolate was perfectly sweetened and the Strawberries were ripe and fresh. Definitely recommend based on that, but much more. All of the treats on display looked so delicious and they make them fresh in the back! If you're interested in some sweets, definitely check out Teri's Sweet Garden!!

They're actually entitled "Red Death Chile Pickles" and I discovered them at -- where else? -- the Southwest Chocolate & Coffee Fest. You know, that's a natural place to sample molten-mouth-melting, um, vinegar cukes. Yeah, random, right? The wife took home a few bars of chocolate. Me? Pickles. But jaysus, those babies have been my breakfast treat -- I'm not kidding -- all week, and I'm infatuated. I'll save the fifth star for a visit to the shop. I'm something of a chocolate snob, and I've yet to find out if Terri has the skillz to pay the billz, but man, those pickles... Killer.

After visiting a few of the other stores we made our way over to La Choco Salty & Sweet to grab a quick sweet to eat and support a local shop. From the outside it looks like just a chocolate shop, but the sweets section is just a small area up front and the rest of the store is tourist type products to buy like clothing, knick-knacks, etc. The sweets area is cute, they have a little cafe type area set up for a few people to sit and they have all the chocolates on display. Most of the treats look pretty good, but the prices are a bit high for some of the things. We generally enjoy grabbing a few truffles when visiting sweet spots like this so we selected four truffles to try. They do not have clear pricing in the case for the truffles nor do they provide any kind of hint to what is inside of some of them aside from the name of the truffle. I had asked the woman working what was inside one or two of them and she seemed annoyed I asked. We ended up getting the four we picked out anyway, and I was kind of bummed afterward. Not only were they $3+ EACH but they tasted like they had sat in the display case for several days. They were a bit hard, stale and didn't really have a lot of flavor to them so I was a little upset we had spent about $17 here on five things of chocolate that weren't really anything to write home about.

The iconic store, which boasts the tagline "New Mexico's Sweetest Tradition Since 1956," is predominantly red and white both inside and outside. So, this was one of my first pit stops on November 26, 2025. I grabbed butterfly and bear-shaped chocolates ($1.95 each) for all the youngsters in my family plus a box of the pecañero ($16.50 per 8 ounces). The candied pecans are absolutely delicious. There is spice, but not too much for me. My 12-year-old, on other hand, couldn't handle it. Lol. There was a variety of other candies. The nice male employee at the register worked diligently and in a friendly manner. Free ample parking was available. For more info, visit www.buffettscandies.com

This is a very relaxed store, with windows into each kitchen so you can see the employees creating chocolate delicacies. As we were looking at the eggs and bunnies, we saw the praying hands & Last Supper. The white chocolate Last Supper was more impressive than the milk chocolate one as you can see all the details in the white. Al, one of the employees, told us that the Last Supper is one of the more difficult to create. It does come out of a mold, but needs expert hands to cut away the extra chocolate that clings to the small details. Our niece bought the last one! Al also showed us the framed newspaper clippings about the store and its founders. He pointed out how the third generation is now running the store, and that some of their customers are also third generation. We bought some of the eggs, caramels, and white & milk chocolate butterflies. We are bringing them home and enjoying each and every one. We will be back!!

Whether it be a prepackaged candy bar or their fudge that is out for display. While he is browsing their offerings to fill his sweet tooth craving I decide to pull up my handy dandy Yelp app to get a little more info on this here candy factory. Low and behold..... it's the 2nd business I tried to check into in the mall...only to find out they were not listed. Being the awesome person I am I asked the Candy Stripper (cashier in layman terms) behind the counter if she had a business card so that I can add their business info as I'm sure other Kool Yelpers have frequented this spot while sludging through the trenches of the mall. She was less than enthusiastic about my inquiry even after I asked her if she was aware of the Yelp website. Needless to say she was neither friendly or in anyway personable to any if the patrons I saw in the shop while we walked around. While I don't like being negative or sending out negative vibes I will come back soon and give them another shot. I can only hope they become more sugary and sweet and one would expect the employees to be in a place that normally brings joy and sunshine to young and old alike.... positives: nice candy selection. my nephew picked out a sucker with a grasshopper. oh joy!!!
