I had the best deep tissue massage from Ling. This is the first massage spot to place a heat pack on my neck and at the tail of my spine, while the masseuse is working their magic on my ligaments. Hot stones were also used on my back and legs. My friend and I went today for reflexology, and we both really enjoyed our 60 minute massages, (we had a male and female masseuse). Everything was wonderful until it was time to pay. We decided to take out cash for this appointment so we could save a little since it was mentioned at our last appointment we could save $ by paying in cash, (it was $55 in cash/person rather than $60 each with card). When my friend was paying her portion and handed her masseuse (the female) a $10 tip, the woman threw the $10 tip back at my friend and demanded more. We were beyond confused - what!? That's pretty much a 20% tip. The male masseuse somewhat cowered in her wake, but followed her lead and demanded the same. We were then awkwardly forced into shelling out more money by your aggressive staff, and gave a $15 tip on top of the $55 treatments. Gross. If it's the case your employees need more tip if one pays by cash, (as in, you need to tip on the regular price rather than the discounted cash rate), you should note that to your guests, (though I'm not sure this is the case). If things don't change, you are going to continue to lose business and you've now lost ours. read more

Not sure why there are so many 4+ star reviews...here's my experience. Terrible service. The majority of the massage was done with a towel over me so the rough towel was rubbing on my skin. When they did massage the skin, it was with greasy oil and it lasted only about 20 minutes. I also told him I had injured my wrist, and he didn't seem to care and just continued rubbing it. When he finished the session he abruptly stopped (no cool down) and said "OK HOUR FINISHED" in a loud voice and walked away...not soothing at all. As I went to pay, I decided not to tip. The two men at the front began pressuring me to tip and were mandating it, When I turned it down, he started waving me away and walked away from me shouting something in Mandarin. Come to find out, no one there spoke English so I couldn't resolve this with anyone. I ended up walking away. Never coming back. This place was sketchy and completely unprofessional. My daughter had a bruise on her foot and the guy kept rubbing it even after she asked him to lighten up on that part. The woman I had was okay but I think she had a cold so it was a little off putting. The checkout was the worst... I apparently didn't tip well enough in their eyes and she informed me. Went and got a same day appointment for massage. The place was nice and clean with music and low lighting. The table and towel coverage, par for the course at these type places. It's not a posh spa, and if that's your thing, this isn't it. Lyn was initially worried about hurting me, but I've had Tui Na massage before. Once she realized it was good, she got down to work. I didn't tell her about some tight spots that normally aren't part of a massage (my infraspinatus and teres) but she found them immediately and worked them out good. We got a couple's massage a few months ago. Mine was good. I was having a problem with my shoulder but she did not speak English well so I didn't bother trying to explain it. She actually found a knot in my shoulder and worked on it for a while. Thankfully, it felt great when I left. Unfortunately, my partner got somebody that wasn't interested in working. She kept walking away or sitting down and doing almost nothing. Didn't get a good massage. Checkout was disgusting. We both paid cash and each gave a 20% tip. They both spoke English then! We were told it wasn't enough money and we'd needed to pay more. When we said it was a 20% tip and didn't have any more cash on us they said we should fix it! We said they weren't getting any more and left. We decided to try it again a few months later. This time we asked for different people. The massage I got was ok. At checkout we encountered the same problem. Mine kept counting the money and pushing it in my face saying, "That all? Need more!" The other one was saying that she was told she did a good job so give her more money! I have never seen such greedy, distespectful people. If they wanted more money they should raise their prices. Since when is it acceptable to demand a tip, never mind that they already got a 20% one. Two chances are all they well get. We will look elsewhere. read more

Called to just make sure they were accepting Groupons and it turns out to be cheaper than what Groupon offered!(: I got a couple's massage, called in the day of just to check on their availability and they were quick to take us in. Came in with my brother for an hour long feet massages. Everything was great until we checkout. Gave her cash payment total $110 (60mins $55) gave her $130 and asked her to give $10 each person for tip. Now here comes the good part.....she looked and smiled at me "just $10!?" ....."60minutes you know, the work atleast $15"........ so she brings me to the table, spread the cash out "this is $110 (on the right) and this is $20 i give back to you (on the left)"..... soo i thought to myself this means she wants more ....lets keep counting...hmmmm im like okkk "heres $10 more so $15 each ok" ...... i am sure that was consider more than 20% tip. Like other reviews, this is not restaurant or tip mandatory base on # of people. Ive been here many times but NEVER experienced this kind of "demanding" all over her face. Mindy and Sophie are amazing! Highly recommend them! There's a few others that are decent. There are two staffs there that are horrible, I don't know their names but you will know if you get them by how bad they start massaging you. I come here often with my boyfriend and even on my own. I usually call ahead to make sure we get Mindy or Sophie before we come in. Price has gone up from $98 to $100 (cash) a couple, still a great deal. The only thing I have to say is, they should not expect to get 20% tip every time. It's base on performance, there's a new lady today and omg she was the worst! My boyfriend was generous to still tip 15% and they said they wanted 20% still. They need to realize that no customer is required to tip anything if they didn't want to. The owner/boss was unbelievably abrasive, inconsiderate and unprofessional in her treatment of first time customers. Only after my massage did I learn she has a history of problems with clarity and responsiveness to customers with regards to using Groupons. I'm not sure why there are so many comments about being under new management and things are better, I was there today and if that management was "better" they have a LONG way to go!!! I only hope that she will realize she is losing more money in the long run by not honoring deals. Had she adjusted business practices from previous complaints and not taking the tone she did with me, I would be returning and telling people to visit the very capable massage therapist. Went here yesterday for my birthday, so so so glad I did. My Sister and I got the couples massage & it was absolutely wonderful ! Don't judge a book by its cover, it's very clean (and serene) on the inside. Despite the staff not speaking much English (which, I don't know about y'all but I preferred the quiet so it didn't matter much) when they did communicate with us they were very friendly. It didn't feel like they were just trying to pass the time or were doing the same move over and over again, they were really focused on my problem areas with such tension. She was a bit rough, woke up with a gnarly bruise -Still planning on returning haha. We gave them a $20 tip each, and left feeling relaxed and content to say the least. 1-star is about right. As other reviewers have commented, the outside of the building is nothing great, but that had nothing to do with my rating. Neither did the interior, which is actually one of the nicer Chinese massage places I've been to. The problem was the massage. I thought that maybe because I'm very stocky that this was a problem for the masseuse who handled me, since she was probably a shade over 100 pounds. But the thing is that I've had masseuses even smaller who did a far better job. The first part of the massage was awkward because she told me to take my clothes off (not the awkward part), then she had me lay face-down (again, not the awkward part), and then she put this thick towel on my back and started massaging my back through it. I'm not sure what was going on, but she kept slipping as she applied pressure. Not a good thing. I tried to ignore it and thought that maybe the entire massage would be like this. But then eventually after 20 minutes or so she took off the blanket, spread some oil on my back, and started the massage. It was terrible. The vast majority of it was her pushing her elbows way too hard into my spine. The foot massage part of it was utterly forgettable. In Boston, I routinely would get this kind of massage done, and they always soaked my feet in warm water first. But here, they don't. And the hard elbowing on my back was in sharp contrast with the barely-there pressure on my feet. There were several other problems. First, the masseuse barely spoke any English, so it was impossible to tell her what was good or bad. Second, the massage did not include my arms or my quads, two areas that definitely should be included since they get a lot of use in a standard day. Third, there was zero work done on my chest. And then I did something stupid: I left a standard 15% tip. I still have no idea why we leave tips for a service that costs so much. I understand why we do this in restaurants, but in these types of places, the take-home is actually pretty good. I used to date a Vietnamese nail technician, and she told me that the standard is 50% goes to the house and the other 50% goes to the worker. So, with tip included, my masseuse made $40 an hour. And since they only accept cash, well, she probably made more than $40 an hour. The bottom line is that I went in with a musculoskeletal injury, and I walked out feeling even worse, and it was expensive. That pretty much justifies giving them 1-star. I suppose their $99 couples massage is a far better deal, but even in that situation (i.e. paying less) if I had received the same type of massage, I would have had the same complaints. Overall it was a good experience. Went there for a couples massage at 7:30 pm. The masseuses were knowledgeable about their craft, and applied a comfortable pressure throughout the hourlong massage. The only problem we encountered was that they spoke to each other throughout the massage. It really disrupted the comfort level in the room and interrupted the background music. Also, the decor really could be better, but I won't hold that against the establishment since it's not a pricey high-end joint. The oil they used for the massages felt very watered down, and came from big ugly jugs. All I'll say is that if you're looking for a completely relaxing, indulgent massage experience, you'll find better for more money. This was comfortably mediocre. read more

Don't let the outside appearance steer you away from this place. Inside is very nice and clean, everyone is very professional. For $98 (if you pay with cash) couples massage, you can't go wrong with this place. This is one of the places that I would say, you are getting a lot more for what you paid for. I had a gentleman and he was very professional about everything. First 1/3 of the massage is under a towel. Was not disappointed, it was actually very good. They really know what they are doing. Perfect pressure and nothing was painful. The next 1/3 is with oil. Okay, i see reviews about what they store the oil in. They use a squeeze bottle that you see in asian restaurants. Honestly, that doesn't bother me. The last 1/3 is hot stone (FEELS AMAZING!), head massage, and hand massage. Overall, I had an amazing experience here. The first time I was here I'd give it 5 stars, but after the second visit, things changed. I came for the couples massage twice and the first time was great, but after the second time I didn't feel as relaxed after the massage so we ended up leaving a smaller tip compared to first time. When we paid, the lady at the reception seemed unsatisfied and when the owner came out she told him in Chinese (thinking I couldn't understand) that the tip was less than $10 which isn't true. He asked if we were sure that's how much we wanted to pay. Back story: this place charges less if you pay cash vs credit card. I told him that's all we had in cash so there wasn't much that could be done. My point is they shouldn't force or pressure the customer for a bigger tip and there's reasons behind it, which they didn't bother asking. I read the reviews for the other Boston locations before coming here and they mentioned them demanding more tip too but I thought this location was fine after giving it a try the first time. My cousin and I got the couples massage. Inside was nice and clean , there wasn't much communication but the two ladies were pleasant. I was a little surprised how rough it was initially, most massages I had before were more gentle, but nothing was uncomfortable. You knew when you had a problem area and she would give extra attention to that area. I have sciatica pain and I feel like no masseuse before has got the right spot like she did.I was sore the next two days but feel great. This center is very clean and everyone is very professional. I paid $59 (Paid cash) for a deep tissue massage. I was surprised it was with a man but was not disappointed at all. He used a little more pressure than I am used to but my muscles were so tight that it really worked for me. They do have you under the towel for the first 10 minutes or so but I really liked that. It gave me time to relax and feel comfortable. He went straight to the work of the massage and not much talking which was fine with me. I was in a lot of pain and wasn't in the mood for talk either. He started using the oil next and it was very soothing and he got right into the tight muscles that I have had for months. Next was the hot stones that were a little hotter than I'm used to but they really did the trick. It felt totally amazing. then the head and hand massage. . I came here last week for a hot stone massage. The staff are friendly and the environment is clean. I wanted to so badly like it but the masseuse I had was extremely rough and I was in a lot of pain after the massage. Massages should be soothing and relaxing. I typically fall asleep during massages but I was grimacing a majority of the time. Also,the hot stones were too hot at first and were used for a short duration of time, like less than 10 mins. I'm used to hot stones being used for 50-70% of the time but different place, different techniques. read more

Horrible! I purchased the 60 minutes couple's massage on Groupon for my partner and I. While my partner had an okay experience from the woman massaging him, I was left wondering what the hell was even happening to me. Was this a reboot of candid camera? A social experiment? The man who massaged me clearly had no license or formal training. The dude probably never bothered to even watch a damn YouTube video and practice at home. He dumped a pool of oil on my back and focused his attention there most of the time. It was like getting an awkward back rub from my old high school boyfriend - you know, he doesn't know what he's doing, but goddamn it he's trying and though it doesn't feel particularly good it's just so awkward and the fumbling has you feeling really bad for the guy? When he touched my arms or legs it was basically just to slather me with oil and give me a gentle rubdown. I don't even know what to call his "technique" but I left feeling slimy and just weirded out by the whole thing. A few highlights: there was a point where he rubbed my head for about 10 minutes and I'm pretty sure he oiled up his paws beforehand because I left looking like a goddamn greaser, while rubbing my back he got lazy and was patting it for a minute or two which at this point I debated asking him to just stop and considered leaving, but because my partner seemed to be enjoying his massage I just sucked in my laughter and waited it out, and finally at the end of the massaged he slapped my feet and said, "Okay, done! Bye!" Definitely never buying another Groupon massage again - I had read the review prior and it seemed like it was a great deal and a great facility.
