I have purchased strawberries from the Harrisburg stand but I had never been to the actual farm until today. I've been missing the Harrisburg stand all season long. But as I was on my way back from Raleigh today on 49, as if by magic, I saw the Cody Strawberry Farm sign. I was so excited and I immediately turned and went to the farm. I got about halfway down the road I thought to myself, "They probably don't take cards." And I quickly dismissed the thought and said "Everybody takes plastic now." Sure enough, when I got to the stand and ordered my berries and slushy, I pulled out my plastic only to be told that they only take cash or checks. Determined to get my goodies, I decided to head to the nearest ATM back in Richfield. The nice lady at the stand let me take the slushy anyway. I assured her I would be back to pay for it all. After about 10 minutes, I returned for my berries. She was kind enough to still comp the slushy since I went out of my way to go get the cash. That's great customer service! The slushy was absolutely delicious and the berries are too. So glad I finally caught them. Can't wait to come back! This is a great field trip for the kids. Just be sure to bring cash.

I particularly enjoyed the setting itself, which was on a farm but also surrounded by woods and a pond vs. being out in a big open field where it's blazing hot and no shade. The tractor ride was fun, they have apple chunking, llamas, chickens, corn maze, lots of games, etc. I was disappointed with the bathroom situation and the food options. They only have port-a-jons which is extremely challenging with small kids and a lot of their food was pre-packaged, which they just warm up. I was going to order a burger originally but they said it wasn't fresh. So I got a hot dog instead which they grill themselves. It was super basic so don't get your hopes up. Anyways, I guess I got spoiled with high expectations after visiting Alpha and Omega Cron Maze which has some legit food! Honestly I'd go back there just to eat. All in all this is a fun place to visit if you're in the area and want to participate in the typical fall festival activities.

There's very few places to set down, and most of them are in one area around. The food areas, the glow in the dark. Eggs didn't glow in the dark. The kids had to go way out at least 2 acres away from the main building to do the Easter egg hunt hunt. There was no lighted station to keep an eye on your kids to have your kids. Meet I was a basket case worried that our granddaughter wouldn't meet up with us again because there was people everywhere, and even though I was physically unable to walk all the way down there. And as several times about benches, three different people passed me on tractors with trailers on atvs. Nobody offered to help me walk down there. Get a chair for me. Nothing very rude, very, very rude. The place looked like a redneck thrown together. Junk pile, it was not worth $15 a person. We had to buy a coat for our granddaughter. Because it got cold and we weren't expecting that, and they sold it to us at full price. Even though the shoulders were faded from it, setting on the hanger for so long. I will never ever ever drive the hour to get there. Even if somebody paid me Oh, and the flowers that you pay to pick fifteen dollars for a vase, and you can get your flowers. They look like they wouldn't even make it twenty four hours after you picked them. They were that spent.

Nothing like a beautiful day spent outside!…read more My family and I went to pick cherries at Levering Orchard this past weekend. The drive alone is worth it with beautiful mountains and open roads. Levering Farm has various seasons where you can go and pick fruit on their beautiful property. From cherries to peaches to apples, you won't be disappointed. The owner is an absolute gem and his staff are so kind and helpful! The prices are also super cheap and overall it's just a fun thing to do with the family!

Genesis 8:3-4 When I was in Ararat today, looked around a bit, but did not find the ark. What I did find, however, was a family owned orchard with cherry trees LOADED with the most beautiful fruit--the best crop they've had in 10 years I was told. They have dozens of varieties, but I was not told which was which. Instead I was told: "Just follow this road up until you can't go no more. The best trees are the ones with the ladders leaned up in 'em". That was the extent of my instruction. Pure country. This place is indeed pure country, staffed by family and locals who are friendly and helpful. It is not fancy or high tech. It is pick-at-your-own-risk with, as I said, ladders leaned up in the trees. They do have pre-picked cherries if climbing ladders is not in your wheelhouse. The pick your own price is less than half of what you will pay in the grocery store. But let me hasten to add that these are not the firm, dark, "bing" type cherries you typically find in the store. These are a bit smaller and softer and thus don't have much of a shelf life. They are very reminiscent of the wild sweet cherries I used to pick in the mountains around Boone when I was a kid. And they make the most delightful pie or turnover or preserves, or... In addition to the wonderful cherries you can find at Levering Orchard, this area is beautiful, with bucolic farms and pastures and scenic mountain vistas. Definitely worth a trip.
