The teachers, staff, and administration at Rainbow Montessori are absolute gems. They are kind, patient, nurturing and work every day to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for each of the kids and their families. I have had the pleasure of enrolling both my children (currently 3.5 and 1.5) at the Bloomfield campus. My daughter started in the toddler room at 18 months and my son in the infant room at 9 months. The teachers we have had direct experiences with (Ms. Gunes, Ms. Alaa, Ms. Layla, Ms. Blanca, and all of the classroom assistants) have treated us like family from the very beginning. The Montessori curriculum has been wonderful for our children - learning practical life skills and independence while also expanding their social and emotional development. Every week, I am impressed by what my kids have picked up academically, even at their young ages. Whether it be geography, letter/sound recognition, manners, counting, or about different cultures and religions - it's apparent the school is passionate about their curriculum. In addition, the teachers and administration plan so many fun activities and events throughout the school year, including annual trunk or treats, winter concerts, class holiday parties, field days/trips, and parent education sessions, to name just a few. The staff spend a great deal of time organizing and facilitating these events (usually after normal work hours) and that does not go unnoticed. Communication has been great for us. Individual student group chats are set up at the beginning of the school year for parents to communicate with the teachers and administration, which we have found very helpful. The staff promptly inform of us any incidents and are quick to respond if we have a question or concern. They also utilize two apps to share pictures/videos of the kids, class updates, and school wide announcements. All of these have allowed us to feel connected with the school, other families, and we are very appreciative of the open communication. On a more personal note, my son has several food allergies (7 in total), which presents daily challenges for our family. The head infant room teacher (a literal angel on earth!) and administration have done everything and more to help ease our stress and anxiety and accommodate his needs, starting well before he even entered the classroom. As a parent, you are always worried about your kids well-being, this is amplified even more when your child has severe food allergies, but I know I can rest assured that my son is in the best of care here. My boys have been attending this school since they were both 3 months. One is 6 and the other one will be 2 tomorrow. This is not your average school, from the teachers to admin, they create a supportive community where everyone feels like they belong. There's constant communication between teachers and parents, pictures being shared of your child throughout the day it feels like I'm not missing a thing while they're in school. The school has always promoted independence and hands on learning which is one of my favorite things. I will always recommend Rainbow Montessori Schools to anyone who asks. read more

My kids went there several years ago and although initially we were very happy with the nursery and pre-k, we later discovered the major neglect taking place at all levels. Examples include - 15 kids in a class left uncared for by aides, daily fights and bullying between kids that is left unaddressed (leaving our kids with constant bruises and cuts) and getting excuses like "boys will be boys", teachers handling children roughly, administrators lying about things that happened or didn't - thank goodness for the videos that caught them in major lies, baby crying for hours in nursery without response from caregivers, caregivers badmouthing babies. I watched my kid being shoved to the ground from behind by another kid in the playground, who was a head taller than him, right in front of the teacher and the teacher did nothing. I watched a kid hit my son 3 feet away from the teacher who ignored them and then when he came to her bleeding, she sent him back to his table. I saw a teacher grabbing my child at the age of 2 and roughly pushing him into a chair because he got up when he wasn't supposed to. I heard a baby cry for hours with no one consoling them. We took our kids out when we realized that all our concerns were true and not our imagination. When you feel like things aren't adding up and your kid goes from a sweet calm child to an aggressive and anxious kid, but you are being gaslit by the school and you can't quite put your finger on what is causing it - question their environment and go with your gut! We are still dealing with the aftermath of our childs' formative experience at Rainbow Montessori. Remember, it is at a young age that many of their behavioral traits are formed. So if your kid has a daily experience of physical abuse, caregiver neglect and an overall need to be in flight or flight mode, it will shape their future behavior and experiences in life. This was a few years ago and things may have changed, but I wouldn't count on it as long as the admins haven't changed. If you are considering the school, it would be advisable to review videos of a typical day before enrolling. read more

Enrolling our children here was the biggest mistake of our lives and we hope to save other parents the same heartache. Our oldest was completely unprepared for kindergarten - didn't know all their letters or numbers, letter sounds, sight words, and couldn't write. Their K teacher laid the blame on lack of preparation. After private tutoring 2x a week for months, our child was at grade level by the end of kindergarten - despite this being the first year of the pandemic and they were hybrid learning. When asked what they were taught at Rainbow, they said when they asked for help they were ignored. Even worse, our youngest was devastated by their time at Rainbow. Enrolled at 1 year old, we learned that they hid in their cot for their first 6 weeks at Rainbow yet NO ONE told us this happened for FOUR months. We would have pulled both kids out but were still on wait lists and then shortly afterwards the pandemic happened. Our town's special needs pre-K stepped in, evaluating our child at Rainbow, determining that Rainbow "wasn't a school...it was a daycare center where they make sure your kids are fed." After starting in the special needs pre-K in Dec 2021., our child has since caught up and is now at or above grade level. Rainbow NEVER suggested our child be assessed by their special needs "resource" teacher UNTIL we told them that our town was coming in for an observation. A former Rainbow teacher told us that she was advised our child "was shy and to just leave them alone." We suspect that our child was left alone and ignored - all day - for months. That former Rainbow teacher said she had PTSD from working there, that it was so loud and chaotic. She was hired as an aide but was given a classroom to manage on her own without any training. Rainbow had so many state violations in the summer 2021 that they had 2 weeks to remedy them or they would be shut down. We will never forgive ourselves for leaving our children in their care. read more

My kids now 10 & 8 have been going to Rainbow Montessori since babies. We love it there and that's why I chose to keep them there instead of public school. Their staff has always been helpful and resourceful. They are responsible, respectful, and knowledgeable. Now that my kids are older they are able to have experiences they wouldn't be able to in public schools. Being a public school teacher myself I know the advantages of my children getting a montessori education versus traditional. Rainbow is doing a great job in getting my kids ready for the real world which I believe is a great asset to Montessori education. read more

An Amazing school! My son attended from the time he was 6 weeks old until kindergarten. I am so thankful to all the teachers & staff for always being so loving & nurturing towards him. My peace of mind was as priceless as his early education he received there! He transitioned seamlessly into the 1st grade due to the preparation & confidence that was built over the years at Rainbow Montessori. I'm surprised that all of a sudden they are asking parents to post positive reviews based on what a worker said. In all honesty, it was great for the intial visit but my son was traumatized there after 1 week. He shivered at night and the next morning always had the runs going to school. The aide Ms B was the only nice person I remember. Everyone else was very cold. When I decided to take him out they didn't ask me why but let me know we will be charged for the next 1 month! No problem. Why are you guys trying to get positive reviews just to cover the real negative reviews??? I don't get it. Please parents keep your child away from this place. I know they keep deleting the negative reviews but for how long. You are are truly horrible. read more

This facility is anything but "rainbows". My son was enrolled here as a 3 year old year and he still winces in disgust and trepidation when thinking about his first school experience at Rainbow Montessori (he's in middle school now). At first things seemed ok but as the months rolled by he was really unenthusiastic about getting up in the mornings to go there. When asked why he didn't like going he told me that they yelled there. Like a LOT of yelling. My son was always well behaved when he was younger so I don't think they got to him so much but some of the other kids were brutally screamed at and put in constant time out. We eventually took him out and placed him in St Thomas nearby and he seemed a lot better after that and didn't mind going to school. It's been quite a few years since our experience at Rainbow Montessori but if the staff hasn't changed I have no doubt they are doing more of the same. I think they are burnt out and tired but there has to be better ways to do things. I do remember Mrs. Maffucci the owner was all "smiles" whenever I saw her. The staff was always tapped out though and unhappy. Something definitely not gelling there. I really do not recommend sending your child here especially if they are sensitive and on the quiet side. You don't want to expose them to anger and frustration from adults who are supposed to nurture them. Bad energy is bad for everyone especially our littlest ones. read more

My daughter has been attending the Bloomfield location since last fall . She loves it ! Her first day I was sent a quick video and she said her first sentence ! "Mommy I like strawberries!" That was a few months after her second birthday . Since my daughter has started attending Rainbow Montessori , her vocabulary has increased , her pronunciation is on point , and her attitude is just amazing ! She loves going to school , she talks about going on the weekends lol . All of the staff are kind , helpful , and always have a smile . They send pics of her often and she always has a smile . They're also very affectionate and attentive to her . I feel so blessed that my daughter is attending such a wonderful school and is so happy every day . When I drop her off and pick her up , the parents and children also look very happy . I would recommend this school to all my family and friends and have !
