We were stuck in Ellensburg due to weather related pass closures. It was so pleasant to find this charming downtown hotel in lieu of the corporate chain hotels by the freeway. Parking is a bit of a hassle and we ended up paying the $10 for hotel,parking in a lot around the corner. It was worth it as we could walk to restaurants within blocks of the hotel. As for the room itself, it was moderately sized but we had room for all our gear without tripping over anything. The king sized bed was comfortable with 5 pillows provided (the norm seems to be 4 nowadays). The room was very quiet but the bathroom has a sliding barn door which unfortunately doesn't muffle bathroom noises which should be private. Decor is soothing warm neutrals with a small sofa and a desk chair provided for seating. There is a small frig but no microwave. Keurig is provided for in room coffee but I would recommend going down to the lobby where fresh brewed coffee seems to be provided. 22/7. We did not check out the rooftop garden due to the weather. Would've enjoyed a drink in the cozy bar adjacent to the lobby but it doesn't seem to be open yet. I would definitely stay here again should I have the need to overnight in Ellensburg. read more

I'm getting to the age where even if I CAN make a 10-12 hour drive in a day, I don't have to and don't want to. So last week, on my way to Seattle I decided to stay the night in beautiful Ellensburg, WA (home to Central Washington University). Since it was just for a couple nights, I decided to get something downtown so I could walk around. I found Hotel Windrow online, booked the room and what a fantastic surprise. This boutique hotel is indeed RIGHT downtown. It's stylish, easy to find, obviously in a great location, and the property includes a hip little lobby bar a space called 'Top of the Berg' which is a rooftop area with fire pits, etc. very cosmopolitan. The rooms were lovely, very homey with a small couch, desk, large bathroom and comfortable bed. I walked two blocks to a fantastic Italian meal (more about that in another review) and overall, had a truly fantastic and easy night. A couple amenities to highlight include ample parking and electric charging spaces for electric cars or hybrids. I love finds like this, and plan on making at least one night stay over a regular occurrence now if I'm traveling on I-90. Recommended. read more

Front staff is super kind and helpful! Location is great and the roof-top is nice with views and fireplaces. The free parking is great and the overall esthetic of this hotel is great. We loved how we could walk to dinner and walk to grab coffee/breakfast in the morning at the restaurants nearby, as there isn't a restaurant at this location. The bed is meh, pillows were okay, the shower was good and the room itself is nice. We did not care for the mattresses at this hotel, as it was lumpy and hard. Definitely not the best nights sleep as the bed itself was needing a new mattress. We loved the location and staff here. read more

Really happy to learn of this hotel that's pretty centrally located to the core of the 'Burg. My room was simple and comfortable with micro fridge and coffee maker. I'm told that microwaves and white noise machines are available upon request. The chair provided for the work table wasn't adjustable. For me that meant sitting on a stack of slippery pillows. Their television system doesn't have apps, a huge disappointment for such a new hotel, so I wasn't able to do some of my work or utilize apps like Netflix for watching tv after work. Even my HDMI cable wasn't successful in connecting computer to tv, and apparently there is no help at the hotel for such issues. For the most part, the WIFI was successful but it hung up at times. The utilization of Chromecast, which was provided as a possible solution, didn't work. The hotel was less than 50% capacity during my stay, so didn't get a true read on noise. While in bed I heard someone in an adjacent room speaking through the bedside wall which would have been really annoying if I didn't have ear plugs. The nightlight and fan in the bathroom are not able to be turned off, and that may be one reason the hotel offers white noise machines. The blackout shades are a nice touch. It appears the hotel was designed with eco-friendliness in mind; however, their choice of offering Keurig-style single-use-plastic coffee makers is way out of alignment with that (coffee pods account for more emissions than other ways of making coffee because of greenhouse gases from producing the pods' packaging and dealing with the waste.) There's a seating area with propane fireplaces on the roof (top of the burg) and a seating area in the lobby with a propane fireplace. There's a small bar that's open certain days of the week. Consider skipping the in-house breakfast (served in the bar area) and checking out the many local restaurant options. Parking is utilized via adjacent lot(s) so depending upon the direction of your room, you might or night not be able to see your vehicle if that's something you need/want to do. The hotel has interesting history which is seen in the unusual construction. It's connected to various businesses via multi-level interior passageway. For example, you don't need to go outside to get to Fidelina's, the yummy Mexican restaurant which I recommend at street level. read more

We stopped in for the night on our way to Spokane and it couldn't have been more pleasant. The girl who greeted us when we arrived at 9:30 pm was lovely, the space itself is beautiful and in excellent condition. Our room was much bigger than the average hotel room and even had a sofa. But best of all were the super nice shampoo and conditioner in the shower. So, two big thumbs up for this place. A really nice way to spend the night in Ellensburg. read more

I would have given 5 stars, and do agree with most everything other reviewers have posted. However, I do have a couple of suggestions. I would suggest real coffee cups in the bar and in the rooms for coffee. Paper cups just don't reflect the level of detail and sophistication that I think the hotel is going for. Also, more hooks in bathrooms for bath towels and robes. One tiny hook is not enough. Speaking of robes, always makes an impression when boutique hotels offer robes. Probably too late, but a small light overhead in the nook where coffeemaker is would be good. Had to use phone penlight. read more

What an amazing find in the middle of Ellensburg! The staff at every level was very helpful and customer service oriented. The room was very nice and the bedding was very high quality. We didn't get to the gym but the bar was well stocked and again very friendly bartender on hand to make you your favorite adult beverage. Rates were comparable to other chain hotels in the area but for my dollar I wouldn't stay anywhere else. read more

We really enjoyed our stay.... However... We were fast asleep when another person came into our room, scaring the crap out of us. Then in the morning, our keys wouldn't work, obviously deleted when the clerk opted to send us surprise visitors. the morning desk clerk was very polite. She went to the manager and they gave us 30% off. The manager couldn't be bothered to come out and talk to us. We were not going to direct our frustration to the clerk. Great atmosphere, soft sheets, but poor customer service. We won't be back. read more

This is a beautiful hotel. I made my reservation really late, but was given a competitive rate. New to town for a basketball championship with no idea where to stay to find a little comfort. This is centrally located in town and is very clean and very comfortable. The beds and the linens are wonderful. The on site menu is also lovely. read more

The Windrow was welcoming, from our arrival throughout our stay. One of the best features is the location - right in the heart of the renovated downtown Ellensburg. We could walk to good food and shops and even the Ellensburg museum and library. (Library has a tremendous genealogy section and made us very welcome. We found high school photos of my Dad!) We had four rooms at the Windrow and all were fresh and clean, with lots of USB charging outlets and a super-handy desk. Small details were in abundance. I wish I wasn't writing this review. Because I'm certain that the more people know about Ellensburg and Hotel Windrow, the more they'll visit. Then I won't get a great room or a good price. And it's all about me, right? Kidding. But I've stayed here three times now and love the rooms, staff, and location. Tall ceilings help even smaller rooms feel spacious. The staff is always really welcoming and seems happy you're here. It's right in downtown, so you'll find a ton of excellent shops and restaurants nearby for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and drinks. (One of my very favorites is Julep, kitty-corner) I do always ask for a quiet room as I'm afflicted by being a terribly light sleeper, and staff have always done such a great job trying to find me a good fit. Never had a problem yet! If I had a magic wand I'd replicate Hotel Windrow for some towns that don't yet have a sparkling clean, boutique-feel-yet-down-to-earth, well serviced stay. Also, the hand soap smells really good and makes my hands smell good. It's all about me, right? read more

Beautiful, great service, good gym, quiet cozy rooms, and very soft comfortable beds. Only complaint is the barn style sliding bathroom doors. Good thing I'm comfortable with my husband. Otherwise there's no privacy, big gaps in the door where I'd prefer it shuts seamlessly. Parking available behind the hotel, very easy to access for guests. Is truly walking distance to most of the downtown area and surrounded by many excellent restaurants. Will be back. read more

Lovely place. Our son is a student at CWU and we were in town to visit him. I had booked this place based off of reviews and my son had said it was the nicest hotel in Ellensburg. Our room was fantastic, lovely view from the 4th floor. We didn't check out the restaurant/bar this time due to prior plans and time constraints (I get that Ellensburg is a small town, but the rooftop bar closed at 8 pm which was kind of lame on a Friday night). The room was clean, the bed comfy, and amenities were good. We really liked the C.O. Bigelow shower products as well. My ONLY suggestion would be to have some instructions and info in the room like most hotels have (even the highest end ones I've stayed at provide this). The lights were confusing (could not get the lights around the bathroom mirror to turn off for anything), and our bathroom fan ran nonstop (is this normal? a malfunction?). My husband and I are in our early 40s, and both "high tech" people. I imagine this would have been very frustrating to someone older and less tech savvy. We just ignored the issues as it was a one night stay. However, if there are instructions for lighting, and if a nonstop running bathroom fan is the norm, have that communicated. A little book with info on that as well as other stuff (restaurant hours, nearby attractions, etc.) would have made this a PERFECT stay. Or, I get not wanting items that can't be sanitized due to COVID but there are also hotels with an info channel when you turn your TV on that share info on the room and hotel with you. Stayed at the Windrow last night. Decent. Clean. Great staff. Good, close parking. The King rooms are small, but have everything you need (Except dairy). The Basalt has good food. Great service. The dirty martini from the bartender with multi-colored glasses... he makes them downright murky at the expense of vodka. "Dirty" means enough to 'cloud' the drink, and add a tad of tangy flavor - not enough to make it look like the Duwamish River - you still have to get Vodka in there bruh. :) The weirdest thing though... they have Keurig style coffee in the rooms, but if you want something other than non-dairy creamer, you have to leave the building for it. The Bar must have half-n-half, but there is nothing available. Once the restaurant closes at nine PM, the place is a dairy desert. Maybe they could put a 'help yourself' coffee station in the lobby (AMs), or sell milk in the pantry (Behind registration desk). If you need it though, suggest you bring a toddy of milk to sooth the strong java jolts in the morning. I think a lot of people are 'wowed' by the hotel because it's a.) new, and b.) in a vast cultural dry patch (Although Ellensburg is coming up IMO). Would def stay here again. read more

Really good restaurants. Great breakfast restaurants. Gym is adequate for most needs. Lobby is beautiful, quiet and comfortable. This place will be 5 stars if it can reopen a restaurant and bar. Lovely family friendly hotel! Check-in/out was a breeze and the entire staff was helpful and incredibly nice. Our room was spacious, clean, and had all the amenities a family of four could ask for. My wife and I stayed at the hotel this past week. Had some work nearby the following morning and we decided to check out this new hotel (at least new to us but still a newer one in Ellensburg). What a great property. The history of Ellensburg comes alive, the rooms were really comfortable, and the staff was really amazing. The restaurant was comfortable and was really interesting. Lastly, the location is right in the heart of the downtown area. We especially appreciated the front office manager Mike, as he was super helpful about both the hotel and also the local area. Recently booked Fri and Sat night after looking on line and calling hotel directly, nothing verbally mentioned about the rate when calling. On line said 144 a night. 2 rooms for 2 nights ended up costing over 1200.00. After calling hotel, was told it was a homecoming weekend so rates go up (over double on Fri and 329 per night for Sat!!) We were not there for homecoming and had no idea. Zero complaints on facility itself, friendly staff, but this feels like robbery. We are well traveled, including international and certainly understand rates. We almost fainted when we saw the receipt and credit card charge based on what we initially saw on line. I am sure we can put the blame for this on ourselves, this will not happen again. Just an FYI to buyer, BE AWARE. ASK ! Stayed here for a football game at CWU. We were rooting for the other team...our school. Hotel was the old Elks Club. Did a awesome redo. Rooms great. Staff wonderful. Only downer was bar and restaurant had closed. Would stay here again. read more
