What an amazing find in the middle of Ellensburg! The staff at every level was very helpful and customer service oriented. The room was very nice and the bedding was very high quality. We didn't get to the gym but the bar was well stocked and again very friendly bartender on hand to make you your favorite adult beverage. Rates were comparable to other chain hotels in the area but for my dollar I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Lovely place. Our son is a student at CWU and we were in town to visit him. I had booked this place based off of reviews and my son had said it was the nicest hotel in Ellensburg. Our room was fantastic, lovely view from the 4th floor. We didn't check out the restaurant/bar this time due to prior plans and time constraints (I get that Ellensburg is a small town, but the rooftop bar closed at 8 pm which was kind of lame on a Friday night). The room was clean, the bed comfy, and amenities were good. We really liked the C.O. Bigelow shower products as well. My ONLY suggestion would be to have some instructions and info in the room like most hotels have (even the highest end ones I've stayed at provide this). The lights were confusing (could not get the lights around the bathroom mirror to turn off for anything), and our bathroom fan ran nonstop (is this normal? a malfunction?). My husband and I are in our early 40s, and both "high tech" people. I imagine this would have been very frustrating to someone older and less tech savvy. We just ignored the issues as it was a one night stay. However, if there are instructions for lighting, and if a nonstop running bathroom fan is the norm, have that communicated. A little book with info on that as well as other stuff (restaurant hours, nearby attractions, etc.) would have made this a PERFECT stay. Or, I get not wanting items that can't be sanitized due to COVID but there are also hotels with an info channel when you turn your TV on that share info on the room and hotel with you. Nonetheless, still 5 stars and would stay here again.

Very cool , clean, friendly hotel in downtown Ellensburg . Walkable to lots of restaurants and a grocery store . Clean safe area . Would definitely stay here again :-)

I haven't slept yet, but the front desk clerk was friendly, the lobby was inviting and beautiful and the room looks great. The hotel is very close to both the University and The Pear and the art galleries. Win win.

    Interesting water faucet

My family's flight got canceled and we were unable to get up to the wedding and I called to cancel my reservation (still upset we're missing the wedding) and the snooty rude lady on the phone refused to give us a refund. We made the terrible mistake of booking a dog friendly room on BringFido, and ended up with this absolutely terrible choice. On top of a rather high $200 for the room, they charged - get this! - $100 per dog for our two well-behaved pooches! We have never paid anything close to this, even in fancy, well run, well staffed hotels. Which the Icon very emphatically is not. Bringing a quick stop in Ellensburg Washington to a total of over $400. On top of this, the hotel proudly announces that they are an Airbnb experience which means absolutely no service is provided and we are expected to drop off our towels etc. or, presumably, face an Airbnb style cleaning charge! I cannot say enough bad things about this absolutely atrocious place. I cannot dis-recommend it strongly enough within the bounds imposed on me by the English language. I have no idea how this place managed to score anywhere over one star on Yelp, and can only assume that the reviewers either have no standards whatsoever or are Icon employees (if they even exist).

And there are other indications, like the melodious chirping toilet, that this hotel is a bit in need of help. Also, it's not the greatest part of town - not their fault but there it is. Maybe no place is the greatest part of town anymore. I knew Ellensburg many years ago and it was very charming. There are still shops, still a rodeo, still a handsome college campus. The amount of delinquents charging around in their loud vehicles was offputting. I will go so far as to theorize that they were circling the hotel in the hopes of preying on the young girls staying there who were part of a softball team (or whichever group might be there at the time). I'm going to say all that and also say that we felt cozy and safe in our room, and we slept fine. Mothers, though, watch your daughters. Luckily (?), there was also a strong police presence in the evening. Staff was friendly, competent; the facilities were fine. One newish hotelish thing is that they took out the coffee machines from the rooms and asked guests to get their coffee in the lobby or ask staff to put the machine back. Did not love this.

I ended up here in the middle at the Rainbow. Three stars equals A-ok. Room itself hasn't been updated in decades but the mattress and pillows seem nice/newer and it's clean. Towels are bright white and smell clean. The shower leaves something to be desired but they did go through pains to accommodate tall folks; the shower head is about 6.5 feet up! There is an alarm clock, tv with remote, and proper key on a vintage diamond shaped key chain. There is no wifi. Friendly office manger reminds me of Stan Lee. I chose this place because it was slightly closer to downtown than the clump of motels further to the south. The motel 6 that is actually in downtown has off putting reviews and this was probably about the same price. While $63 for a place to sleep on a weekday seemed steep at first, it turns out it's about the lowest going rate these days. In light of the reviews of other places, I'd say this is one of the better deals in town.

The pool was tolerably cold but the hot tub was comfortable. The whole place was very quiet, which is unusual for places with a centralized corridor. I cannot stress enough that having a very curious Autistic child makes the rooms a danger to their safety overall. We ended up having to have our son sleep in his wheelchair just to feel safe enough for him to be in the room without the risk of getting hurt. We had to unplug the phone immediately to put it up out of the way. We had to unplug the table lamps because the plugs kept falling out (until our son went to sleep). We had to unplug the clock and put it up high because he kept trying to play with it. The place really needs a proper remodel badly as there is a lot of potential given its location.

I hesitated to book this hotel after reading all the reviews, but then I decided to give it a try…read moresince there were also good reviews. The hotel itself is old and a bit worn out, but it's clean and functional. The staff were friendly. While it's not fancy, I think the conditions of the hotel were generally acceptable. Every employee was super friendly and helpful. So why am I giving only 4 stars? For some reason, nobody in the reviews mentioned the train problem. What? Train? Yes, there is a railway nearby. The trains ran throughout the night, even 2-3 am. If the trains just ran through, maybe it wasn't a big problem for me since I used to live by the railway in Tokyo. The trains sounded their horns. Every horn would woke us up every time! We stayed there to avoid any potential commute problem for my son's State Solo & Ensemble competition. We expected to let him have more rest, less stress for the night before the competition. With the train horns, I honestly regretted staying there. It wasn't the hotel's fault, but I also think since the hotel was so close to the railway, they should at least install double-pane windows to reduce the noises. The breakfast was free, but only bread, bagels, and waffles. It's free, so I don't have any complaint. But still, I would want more hot breakfast or more fruits selections. One more issue is the quality of the bed. I guess the beds were old, so when I lied down, I couldn't keep my back straight, which caused me a back pain. If you are not sensitive to the sound, maybe this hotel is not bad. As its rate is very affordable. But if you are sensitive to the sound, I wouldn't recommend this unless you plan to stay up for the night.
