    Halibut over asparagus and risotto.
    Pam Y.

I've been eating at this restaurant for over 40 years! It sits on the shore of Lake Ontario and offers a beautiful view while you dine. About 10 yrs ago, new owners brought in a top shelf chef with great menus, food preparation and presentations. Tonight I enjoyed a pomogranite martini and the evening's special salad (spring greens, blackberries, Pecans, and gorgonzola). My entree was the special Halibut (soy and ginger reduction) served over perfectly cooked asparagus and risotto. They make the BEST risotto! I ended with cinnamon and brown sugar ice cream. Fabulous dinner, $75 including tip.

    Duck (special)

I have to say, I wasn't sure what to expect when my friend said we HAVE to come here when we visit. Read the menu online and it seemed small. The Yelp reviews were mixed. Grateful we did try it because we got to try some unique dishes and various flavors with a gorgeous view. Exceeded my expectations for sure! The service was very attentive to us, even fixing my drink when I noticed a bug had fallen in. They also made sure my aversions and allergies were taken care of. I learned: look BEYOND the website because there are specials. Once I saw Duck on the specials menu I said "yup that's it, that's what I'm getting". The bacon wrapped scallops and crab cakes also were a hit with our group for appetizers. We loved sipping cocktails, catching up with old friends, and enjoying the view. Live music near the outdoor seating also was a very nice touch. Heads up: yes the wait times are long for food. Expect to spend a few hours here which for our group we didn't mind as we enjoyed each other's company (we see each other 1-2 times a year at most) and the views. The food is high quality. While I did enjoy my entree (duck special), I requested it to be cooked medium and it came out more well than expected. While I normally would've sent it back we had already waited an hour for entrees to come out and didn't want to risk our group waiting longer. When seeing the seafood escapade come out, I think I'd order that next time. But who knows, with rotating and seasonal specials there could be different options to try. So glad I got to try this spot with some great friends over a lake weekend reunion for us. We did enjoy it and could see us going back if we make it an annual summer trip.

Worst prime rib ever. Tougher than leather. The middle was raw, seasoned terribly and the Cole slaw was drier than the desert. If you want to drive a mile down a dirt road for a $37 shoe, go here.

First time having a meal here and drive by almost weekly! We had an amazing meal and the views are breathtaking. The cocktails are the best, although expensive. The whole meal was pricey but we don't get out much, so we don't mind spending money on a good meal. Fried green tomato app followed by the duck entree special and a hazelnut torte for dessert. The reason for 4 stars was due to the steep prices as well as a very loud, intoxicated group that were seated directly behind us about halfway through our meal.

    Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola

WOW WOW WOW. Full disclosure even though Rainbow Shores is 5 miles from our house and we have lived here for 15+ years today was our first visit. We celebrated our 28th anniversary today and wanted something local but new to us so RS won. My wife ordered a Blueberry Mojito (which was the only negative of our experience). Zero blueberry taste. Anyways we came for the food not the cocktails. We started with their fried Mozz balls and spicy marinara and Calamari with banana peppers and spicy marinara as well. A++. The calamari presentation was beautiful (on a small piece of slate). Lightly breaded so you tasted the freshness of the calamari instead of just the breading. The fried Mozz Balls were also A++. The spicy marinara and the balsamic sauce for the Mozz balls was a great combo. Entree time. We both got the Filet Mignon. I got mine with a Cheddar Russet Cake and Gorgonzola. OMG It was cooked and seasoned PERFECTLY. I know filet is supposed to be tender but this was the most tender piece of beef I've ever had. The cheddar russet cake was delicately fried and insanely good. The Gorgonzola was great as well. My wife got the Black Angus Filet with a Jack Daniel's balsamic reduction. Hers was also cooked and seasoned perfectly. She had the risotto and red mashed potatoes with cream sauce as her sides. We sat outside overlooking the lake. The breeze was just enough to keep us comfortable and also not annoying with blowing stuff around. We got desserts to go. We got 2 Chocolate Caramel Lava Cakes with Vanilla Ice Cream. No pictures as we ate it as sson as we got home. The dessert was decadent! Definitely will be back!

What a beautiful location. The food was outstanding with many choices to please all palates. Dessert was also loved by all of us. We went to celebrated Father's Day. The cost of the meals was a little pricey but worth it for the fresh ingredients, presentation, taste and view.

This was taken at 6:57pm we were on the list at 6:15 for a table. The hostess said we have to wait for a 3 seater.

We got there at 515pm they told us it would be a 45 minutes wait. We did NOT get a table until 715pm!!!!! The poor Bartender was running her butt off & couldn't keep up with orders. Took us about 20 minutes just to get a drink. Finally at 7:56pm we got our Food. The Prices are Expensive the food was OK.... it might have been better if we didn't have to wait 2 hours for a table. I was NOT IMPRESSED!!!! I can say our Waitress was Very Friendly & Nice. I WILL NOT GO BACK!!!!!

What an incredible gem! I am a born and raised Upstate/Northern New Yorker and can tell you there just aren't that many places that offer this kind of fine dining atmosphere. The food is creative and delicious and the restaurant and grounds are stunning. The only reason this isn't a five star is because my husbands medium steak was as rare as could be (totally cold and uncooked in the middle). But he likes it that way, too, so it wasn't a problem for us but it shouldn't have happened. That said, he elected not to tell anyone so that's on us. My halibut was delicious and the rest of the food was amazing. Best Cesar salad I've had, and the desserts were fantastic. They have been understaffed because of the pandemic, which is a common issue in the restaurant industry, and haven't been able to seat anywhere close to capacity. This is why they require reservations at the moment. That said, despite the staffing challenges, we didn't have to wait that long for food, at least no longer than other upscale dining places anyway. We are high risk for COVID and the staff graciously seated us in an outdoor socially distanced area. That said, no one on staff was masked, if that's important to you, and we wouldn't risk eating inside.

Waited 3 hours and didn't even get bread or water, the bar was the only functional part but that left everyone drunk with no food.

We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast and weren't sure what to expect. This place exceeded our expectations. The mansion itself is beautiful. Every time we walked around the house we discovered more treasures, everything from the molding to antique pieces. The property has a lovely view of the Erie Canal. Each morning there was coffee waiting or us outside our door on a beautifully arranged tray. Then we went down to breakfast. I hate to repeat myself but the table was also beautifully arranged. We tried several different dishes during our stay, each one delicious. Our host, John and Rebecca, were there for our every need, without being intrusive. After running around all day It was so relaxing to return to our room each night. We asked several relatives to stop by and see the place. Our Aunt was thrilled as she had driven by hundreds of times and never been inside. She was not disappointed. One extra point. They have a friendly dog named Riley who helped us forget how much we missed our own pets. We plan to return here each time we return to Syracuse.

Do you think someone created an account just to give these guys 5 stars? Absolutely ridiculous. I've been sufficiently pissed off by their lack of providing any kind of service, especially in redeeming my "free trip". Spoilers -- there is no free trip. While on the phone, the woman I spoke with simply went to the Carnival website to quote me. What an absolute joke. Ours ran closer to 90 minutes, and then they pushed us into a one-on-one sales session afterward that would have gone even longer. When we declined and ended early, the salesperson was clearly frustrated. It felt very high-pressure and not respectful of our time. Second, the incentives were not delivered as promised. We received the initial $50 gift card for signing up, but the second one that was supposed to be provided after the Zoom call never came. Finally--and most importantly--the voucher itself is extremely hard to use. Availability is very limited, even when searching well in advance. Many destinations have few or no options at all. For example, we tried to plan a trip to Pittsburgh and found zero listings. Even when properties do show up, the dates are highly restricted. The few options that are available don't look very nice or updated, and many are not located in desirable areas of the destination. Overall, this experience felt the same as a traditional timeshare-style sales model: long presentations, high-pressure tactics, and benefits that are much harder to use than advertised. I would not recommend it.
