I placed an online order well in advance and received a confirmation email stating it would be…read moreready in 30 minutes. When I arrived, the order hadn't even been started. I was then forced to wait another 30 minutes because they claimed they never received the order. To make matters worse, the employee who spoke with my wife attempted to gaslight her by falsely claiming that I had just placed the order and that it had only recently come through. That was a complete lie. Given the restaurant's negligence, incompetence, and failure to have the order ready as promised, we requested that the tip be refunded. Instead of correcting the situation, the employee argued with my wife and flat-out refused. She then falsely claimed to be the manager, which turned out to be another lie. The entire interaction was unprofessional, dishonest, defensive, and disrespectful. There was absolutely no concern for customer satisfaction or accountability. When a business makes a mistake, the last thing customers should have to endure is being lied to and treated with hostility. What was even more disturbing was that this employee appeared to goad me into coming back to the restaurant despite knowing how upset I was. Rather than de-escalating the situation, she seemed intent on provoking a hostile confrontation. That kind of behavior is reckless, irresponsible, and completely unacceptable in a customer-facing position. In my opinion, this employee should be terminated immediately. Any manager who values customer service, professionalism, and the reputation of the business should take this incident seriously. If management has any dignity or respect for its customers, they need to remove this irresponsible employee before she creates similar problems for others. This was, without question, one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. Between the wasted time, the excuses, the dishonesty, the refusal to take responsibility, and the terrible customer service, I would strongly advise others to avoid the Brooklyn Pickle on Burnet Avenue in Syracuse. No customer should have to deal with this level of incompetence, dishonesty, and disregard for basic customer respect.
