I visited on 7/9/20 for one night. This is an old(er), simple, no-frills motel. But it was clean and the price was decent. The receptionist was super nice and checkin was quick. The room had a little bit of a disinfectant or deodorize smell, but it was ok. The AC worked great. The shower was clean. I thought it was funny that they have a sign with towel prices due to the "popularity" of their towels...which are just basic white hotel towels. I think what they're trying to say is that 'this is how much we are going to charge you if you steal our towels'. I'm usually a Marriot/Hilton/Sheraton/Hyatt guy, but I was totally fine staying at the Raine, and I'm staying there again in a couple weeks. And this time I might even try the on-premises restaurant, because the popular local steak restaurant I went to last time didn't impress. read more

Do not repeat our mistake by making a reservation online for this dump. DO NOT STAY HERE! They charged us over $100 with taxes for this experience. Definitely the grossest motel room of our 4000 mile cross country trip - possibly the grossest we have ever experienced. Where to start? Air conditioner leaks water on the carpet and obviously has been for a loooong while. Carpet is disgusting and reeks. Room is dirty and everything is old and worn. The single bar of soap in the bathroom was not wrapped and clearly had been used. Towels were old and thin and one of the washcloths provided to us was so stained and worn that I think it was actually a cleaning rag. On a row of nonsmoking rooms and still had to put up with smoke secondary to the motel operator's decision to put smoking areas RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE AIR CONDITIONERS. There's a table and a single upholstered chair that is so smelly and stained it should be burned. Smallest television we have ever seen in a motel. Kicker, it's mounted so high on the wall and far from the bed it's unwatchable. This place is absolutely awful. read more

I stayed there friday night, the owner took $100 from my card and tried to say that he didn't'. I called my bank and they confirmed. The room I stayed in smelled like chemicals, the beds were uncomfortable, and I found 2 bedbugs on the carpet floor. And the bathroom wasn't very clean either. If you are looking for a cheap room to stay in for the night, don't stay here. The rooms are dirty and the owner can and will rip you off. read more

It's not the Marriott and it is priced accordingly; about $100/night. It is dated, but clean with a friendly staff. Good unit air conditioning. The beds are smallish and the parking lot is rough. We are headed through on motorcycles and our crew was happy to find a clean, very reasonably priced overnight. This place is all you need. read more

The owner was very accommodating and the room is pleasant. Glad I stopped here instead of one of the corporate motels.

I stayed at this location 8/24- 8/26. I booked on Hotels.com in July. When I booked the price listed was for 99.00 for a Thursday and 120.00 for a Friday/Saturday. Upon check in my card was charged over 500.00 It was late and I was tired so I just decided to wait until I had a chance to look at my booking on Hotels.com. When I did I confirmed the rate on my receipt against the rate I was charged and I show a difference in rate. At the hotel, I was charged a raised rate of 130 and 140 a night! 130 and 140 a night for a room where the AC barely worked. I will never again book at Hotels.com. When I called they had a runaround about it and could do nothing. I didn't have a chance to call the property cause the Owner himself called me screaming at me that he had the "right" to charge me this and charge me that. It was screaming about his "rights"! I tried several times to talk to him and get him to calm down to no avail. I dealt with several unprofessional behaviors from this property staff from the very start of my stay. When I checked in I got a lecture about my service dog and how the owner has the right to charge me 30.00 for a trained service dog. I got a lecture about how I should not book with Hotels.com I should just call the hotel directly cause they have to pay a third party agent. If you want to stay at a place that illegally charges you for your service animal and does not respect or honor their rates with a third party dealer stay at the Raine. Staff at the Raine you do not have the right to change the rates. You do not have the right to charge for a service dog. Sir you do not have the right to upcharge your customers. I do have a right to leave a review that is honest. He answered the review on Expedia that I owe them 20 more dollars and I'm a thankless person. These folks are extremely unprofessional and hostile. This is a very sad motel in need of major renovations. We checked in around 9 pm while traveling through and the owner was very nice and she gave me a small discount, thus the 3 stars but the room was somewhat pitiful. I was asked to sign a document stating that I didn't have a pet with me but once we entered the room it immediately smelled of urine so it would seem that there had been pets before. Stained carpet, sad bedspread, old curtains and towels so old and dingy that I almost didn't dare to use them. The shower head was almost falling off the wall. Traveling and staying in a small town, you never know .i picked this motel for the price, and it had some ok reviews. The hotel is dated, but it does have all the basics and is clean. My bed was pretty comfortable too. The true gem here is the restaurant!! There is an excellent indian restaurant in this motel. Very very good. Also rare to find in small town Nebraska. Traveling through and unfamiliar with the area, we decided to stay at Raine Motel. When checking in, we noticed how good it smelled and decided to try the adjoining restaurant. What a nice surprise to find delicious Indian food on our travels! The owners are wonderful and the food was delicious. I'd definitely recommend this place, and if we find ourselves in the area again (I think we will.. Valentine is a hidden gem!) we will be coming back. Your bath towels or any towels for that matter did not say any thing on them as far as being rags this is what was in are room disgusting. If you went to a hotel would you want to use those towels most likely not. And of course this is the same bed we slept in it looked like this before and after fix your bed problem you make it sound like it was something we did not hardly buy new beds you need it real bad . Also you didn't even say any thing about the way we were treated you failed to mention that . Also just like in my original you were not truthful on your add in your add it says American food no what a joke there was none also no breakfast . And in your response you say read other reviews who knows you might of paid theses people to give you good reviews from the way we were treated and the looks of the room horrible, disgusting ,and gross ,and horrible customer service and rude owners stay clear of this place if are room looked like this can you imagine what the others look like God Forbid. I am amazed that people give this place 5 stars! Then again is not a 1 start hotel either. The gripes that people have expressed about this place are definitely warranted: it's dated, the beds are 25 yrs old, small tv & slightly musty smell. That being said, it was quiet, convenient and not the worst place I've stayed. The owners should definitely invest some money in this place. The hotel is almost completely decorated from the 60"s so almost nothing is upgraded, from the key locks to the smelly rooms and breakfast (continental) that was late to open. I got the impression that the current owners are milking the business for as much profit as they can get. read more

We stayed at the Raine Motel for three nights while spending time at the powwow just north in Rosebud. First and foremost, the quoted price online changed DURING our stay, adding over $100 to the cost. The place is old and in disrepair. I wish I would have taken a picture of the ice scoop at the ice machine...sitting on a tray of filth that had likely not been cleaned in months. The screen in the bathroom was busted, and being in a room with three beds and several people, it would be nice to vent the bathroom. But the flies then take over with no screen. Lots of small issues that I wouldn't have minded, but for the exorbitant cost. Then my wife leaves a negative review, and this crackpot owner personally calls her on the phone and starts berating her for the review. He then gets online and retorts that she still owes him $20 and says that she's a thankless person. Shady business practices in a dump of a motel. I'll be pursuing the charges to my credit card unless this clown makes it right with my wife in short order. read more

We recently stayed at the Raine Motel. It's a no frills, comfy down home kind of place where you'll be treated like family, and the staff will learn your name. Right on the Hwy and just a block from the Cowboy Trail, you can easily get to Main Street. The rooms are comfortable, large and the AC works great! Free washer and dryer use was an added bonus too. Very clean motel and friendly owners. Every room has two assigned parking spots and they also have free breakfast. Skip all the other places in town and stay here. The attached Indian Restaurant is beyond fantastic! Better than any Indian cuisine I have ever had ANYWHERE! Extensive menu including lamb and goat dishes. Ok I've stayed here 2 times about a year apart. It's an old Motel but well kept as u can for the age! This time our room was a single and barely a queen if it even was! The bed was SHOT!!! Bounced so bad if u turned over u would throw ur wife out of bed! That bad! Ok a bit of exaggeration on throwing her out of bed! The pillows were so flat we had to go ask for two more of the same to have what would resemble a good full pillow! Come on pillows are cheap! I noticed one review said lots of TV channels!!! Huh!! Don't know what kinda TV service they have but 35 channels don't constitute a LOT! Dumb!!! Hell the TV was only about a 22" anyway! No lie! Our room was $89 in June of 21!!! The first motel u come to on the left from the East to the west was the same price and looked way better! I recommend it or even Motel 6 before this one. Invest in new beds, bigger TVs, new pillows, more TV channels! It's ur business!!! Invest in it! read more

How this joint wasn't already on Yelp is mystifying. Hotel staff recommended it, and it kind of seemed like a cousin-in-law recommendation. It's attached to a motel, and doesn't eyeball that great from the street. Obviously, I stopped anyway, and OMG what a find! I ordered a medium rare ribeye, and it was flawless in every way. I mean MOUTH WATERING. The sautéed mushrooms on the side were interestingly different and succulent as well. Service was friendly, fast, and accurate. The interesting thing was I showed up at 8 pm, and there were several tables occupied inside, and I chose the large comfortable outdoor patio where it was quiet and basically empty. I don't know why this place is listed as $$, I think it was the the most affordable motel in Valentine, $60 for the night. The room was clean, furniture and decoration is definitely aged, but the bathroom was recently remodeled and the air conditioner/heater was pretty new looking, definitely one of the higher quality heaters I've seen in a motel. Management was friendly, offered up advice on sights to see and routes through the state. There was a very simple breakfast of coffee and package pastry. Stayed there August 3rd. Check in was was nice, easy and pleasant. The room was clean with everything needed. Bathroom was clean and shower ran hot. Flat screen TV with lots of channels. Ate at restaurant and it was good food with very nice folks as servers. The menu was a little limited because one cook had family emergency concerning his wife. Still plenty of choices and good food. We stayed on the backside and parking lot was a little dark but sure it was safe. The only reason it's not a 5 star rating because it's not new. I like mom and pop places and this is family run and they like folks. read more

This is a nice place but it is beginning to show its age. In todays world I always worry about safety. The first thing that struck me was, "they are still using an actual key/lock and not the electronic key card". What comes to my mind is someone could make a copy of that key at any hardware store . The other thing is the windows. This is a one story building. My window was closed but unlatched when I arrived. Someone could open it and come right on in. Besides that it appears that only one of two windows that can be opened has a latch. When a semi-truck or heavy duty vehicle passes by, the windows vibrate. The windows are single pane. The furniture in the room is also showing wear and tear. One of the chairs in my room had a little wobble and 2 drawers in the dresser don't close as well as they should. The mattress seems old, soft and not that supportive. The room is clean. Has a microwave, TV and Wi-Fi. The restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays. read more

My family stayed here during a horrible snow storm. They don't live far away but it was white out conditions. Check in was easy enough but once in the room is when things started going awry. My mother, who has arthritis and wanted to take a hot bath, ran a bath using "only hot water". When she went to step in, it was luke warm. The windows were very drafty, keeping the room from warming up despite the heat being on 86. The establishment was told about it but nothing was done. read more

Nice place. Its an older motel but the couple that owns it is super nice and they keep bit up very well. The rooms were clean and they had a nice little spread for breakfast. If you're in the area and need a place to stay, I recommend the Raine Motel. Best to give $ to a local place rather than some chain hotel like a motel 6. Price was better as well! read more
