I was surprised that they were out of NYC but advertised in the Scranton area, so when I expressed concern about them coming 2 hours out of the city, she assured me that they travel well and personally guaranteed that they would show up. There was a 'travel fee' associated with the captain and each of the six waiters I hired - presumably towards renting a collective van or bus so they would all arrive together. We took her at her word, paid everything up front and confirmed a few days before the wedding. Of course, 2 of 6 waiters did not show up. One third of the workforce. The captain, Jamy - who was late arriving with the other waiters - had no idea where they were. Our coordinator was informed at 12 noon that a 'car had broken down' and that was that. Jamilka was unreachable. Captain Jamy had no solutions to offer. Nobody contacted me. There was no attempt on their end to find replacements, even though the reception didn't start until 6:30pm, plenty of time to find other NYC servers or even to find local replacements. Instead, we were scrambling all night long because losing 33% of the waitstaff meant that every single thing went 33% slower: Set up was way behind schedule so the attention to detail really suffered. Personal items meant to be placed and moved were abandoned because we had to pull different workers from their specific areas to do the server's set-up jobs. At the event itself, we now only had 4 waiters for 115 guests!! So naturally, the buffet stations were sloppy and not replenished on time, people couldn't get water refills or drinks quickly, spoons were immersed in sauces, food was lukewarm at best because when it was hot only 4 people could bring it, not 6. There were empty plates not bussed, empty shavers and dishes sat around, the 4 waiters were running for their lives, it was all very noticeable. Our cocktail hour was supposed to have 4 servers walking around with hors d'oerves, and I honestly don't think we had any at all. Very embarrassing. When it was time for the bridal party toasts, the waiters were so scattered that 2 of my friends and I - the groom! - had to hustle up to the house to find the Proseco and then run around pouring it for the guests ourselves!! And at the end of the night, I still tipped the servers well but Jamy thought it wasn't enough and straight up asked me for more! Regretfully, I actually GAVE her more money because I used to be a waiter and know it wasn't their fault that their co-workers were no shows!! But still, unbelievable. Bottom line: We planned this wedding for 9 months and the functionality was severely compromised due to JJ Staffing's negligence and irresponsibility. THEY DIDN'T ALL SHOW UP!! Jamilka *should* have been mortified and reached out immediately - but inexplicably, she didn't send any kind of correspondence of acknowledgement or apology at all. Not Saturday as things were happening in real time, or anytime afterwards! I had to reach out to HER to ask about this situation! She basically took zero accountability, said it was just 'bad luck'! And then offered to refund the 2 servers fees, as if that would make everything okay in her book. Her actual quote was: "Issues as such are not how we run our staffing agency." But.... Yes, yes it is!! Terribly unprofessional on ALL fronts. Please avoid hiring them and get waiters that actually show up - after all, the best ability is 'availability'. Find another company, you can do much, much better.

Usually I have a lot of picky eaters who say something about the food. My family and friends can be tough to please. Everyone gave me resounding great reviews of the food this time. Kids and adults alike were happy. The food was cooked fresh on site. So nothing felt pre-cooked, cold or like it was sitting out. The display was elegant. They kept refreshing food stations as it was getting gobbled up. But because it was so elegant, even at the end of 5 hours when it was over. The whole place still looked great. I do a lot of events. Some caterers can be pushy about knowing what is best about what you should serve. Not Ellie, he made suggestions but he wanted to make sure I was happy. So everything we asked for he delivered and then some. He even handled our 12 grape tradition with ease. La Mila event included the waitstaff, the bartending and provided the tables, and both silver and glass displays for the food. I'm sharing photos of the overall venue and the grapes. Because I forgot to take photos of the food stations. I will see if any guests took some photos. But even I just dove right into to eat. But Ellie really made the event spectacular and delicious. Never mind that we're both detail-oriented with tons of event exposure. From the moment we met Sarah, it was clear how great she was. Thanks to Sarah, we didn't even hear about the little hiccups -- a key guest stuck in traffic, a backup in the kitchen, etc. -- till our wedding was long over. And Sarah was such a centering presence from the second the day started that we didn't once check or think about the time, yet ended up having enough wiggle room in our schedule to stop in for a drink (wedding dress and all) at our favorite local spot. From then on, I just remember having fun. Here's the truth: For a wedding to feel effortless -- which is what we all hope for -- takes a *ton* of work. Most of us are willing to put the work in, I think, but it's only worth it if you actually get to enjoy the experience of getting married. That's what Sarah and her team make possible. In the month leading up to the wedding, she took over vendor communication which took a bit off our plate. During our walkthrough of the venue, she showed up prepared and ready to go with so many helpful questions that we never would have thought to ask when planning a wedding for the first time. In the weeks leading up, she put together a really helpful timeline for us to ensure we got to do all the things we wanted to do on our wedding day (getting ready, photos with our families, pictures of the two of us at sunset, dancing etc.). It really helped us plan out the day and ensure we could allot as much time to dancing as possible! Finally, the day of, we couldn't have asked for a better team. Karolina stayed with the bride all day to keep the timeline on track (and make sure she didn't forget to eat!) while her teammate, Kristina, was helping put everything together at the venue. Karolina gently kept us on track all day by reminding us when it was time for photos, dance, cake-cutting, but also gave us the flexibility to move things around a bit if we needed a few more minutes talking to our parents. It was truly fantastic and I cannot imagine how much of a mess we would have made of the wedding if Karolina wasn't there to help keep the whole show on track. Our guests commented on how smoothly everything went and how well the timing was all laid out from arrival to ceremony to food to dancing. No one was left hungry or felt like they were waiting for something. For us, this was the most important aspect: our friends and family were able to enjoy themselves without having to worry about the process of the wedding.
