Dr. Ogilara is absolutely the best Doctor. He is thorough and caring. He makes sure that the patient understands and is comfortable with the treatment he recommends. Excellent dr w great bedside manner too! During my Mother's initial visit w Dr. Ogirala, spent unheard of quality time assessing her. He exhibited his lifetime of experience as well as providing the humanistic element of Hope - saying that he could work w/her if she did her part too. He also changed her COPD inhaler & it has provided instant relief of her a.m. running nose symptom. He showed his holistic approach by also suggesting that she sees a rheumatologist for osteoporosis & the simple tip to consciously try to walk w/straight posture to alleviate pressure on lungs!! My father practiced medicine quite successfully in New York City for 50 years so I like to think that I know how medicine should be practiced and how doctors should conduct themselves. This is THE worst doctor and doctor's office I've ever been in! Granted we were a bit late but we waited an hour and a half. The office staff is completely inept and unempowered. When we walked in they barely acknowledged us and were dealing with some disaster with their phone company. One receptionist was wearing a weathered superman tee shirt. This should have been an alarm right away. Staff not being held accountable. When we finally got in to see the doctor he was interrupted by his staff several times and for 10 minute clips. I finally told him about my father and that the doctor patient relationship is sacred and not to accept anymore interruptions. He told me that was the way it was and if we didn't like it I could go somewhere else. Guess what? We walked out right then and there. On the way out I gave myself a prize and said to him "I don't know how you function this way!" Another thing that gave us the creeps was a huge tube of KY Jelly left out next to the examining table. Is this guy a pulmonary specialist or what! I didn't want him to touch my wife at all after that! He also said that just by looking at me he could tell I also had sleep apnea but that we'd deal with that later. Completely unethical behavior all around. We called our insurance to make sure this idiot doesn't get paid. If you are even thinking about going to this guy run screaming! He's a real piece of work. read more

I have been going to this dr for 15 years and he has saved my life and the life of my ex boyfriend more than once. Heres the thing, you will wait a long time (bring a book) in the office and the office is disorganized and small BUT this is the best Dr I have ever been to bar none and I have worked in healthcare for 17 years myself. The reason you will be waiting in the office is because the Dr takes a long time with each patient and he is very thorough. Once you are sitting in the chair in his office your irritation will dissolve because you will be the center of attention for at least a good 30 minutes. This Dr diagnosed a heart murmur in me that even two cardiologists missed and he also diagnosed a vitamin deficiency that was causing weird neuro problems with my muscles. He is extremely protective and very kind and he will always look out for your best interests including your dealings with other MDs. He has advocated for me and helped me get the best care possible and I am forever grateful to him. I have referred other healthcare professionals to him as well and every single person has been impressed by him and grateful for the referral. His diagnostic abilities, knowledge of pharmacology and his breadth of knowledge are impressive. Every time I visit him, there is at least one or two nurses in uniform on break from the nearby hospital waiting for her own appointment with him. If you've got a line of other health care professionals outside your door how bad can you be? These are the people who know him best and they choose him for their own and their family's care. If you want a slick fancy office, no wait and Dr Oz you're in the wrong place. If you want a very sharp, intelligent, compassionate Dr who will not make you feel rushed, focus fully on you are really, truly LISTEN to you this is your man. He even makes himself available after office hours if you need him. I understand parts of the bad reviews here , but had these individuals continued with this Dr they would have quickly realized what a gem he is and appreciated his compassion and his enormous knowledge base. read more

He identified a complex, rare, and life-threatening disease after spending 30 minutes with me where other doctors have been scratching their heads for the past month. He listened to every word I said to him and took me seriously when everybody else I've been seeing has been treating me like I've just been exaggerating my symptoms and fishing for drugs. He's advocating for me harder than any doctor I've ever seen and is making sure I get the best care I possibly can ASAP for what I'm going through. I love this man and I'm almost completely certain that I would have been dead within weeks if I hadn't met him. He travels a lot and is very hard to get a hold of because he's in such high demand. Lately it has been hard to locate the doctor, he falls off the grid. Long wait, but you are the center of attention with him. If you think you can do better and want ambiance go somewhere else, at this stage I wouldn't trust another pulmonologist like I trust him. I went to the sleep study the doctor runs. OMG, filthy apt. sheets dirty, carpet filthy and sticky. Refused to go back for 2nd part. I want to go to a clean safe enviornment. This was a horror. Spoke to his people about this, they treated it as "Oh well" no apologies or anything. Called me to say we have your sleep study in, I asked how did you get info from maybe 3 hours of sleep can it be complete. I will ask my reg. Dr. to send me to a certified sleep center. I will be looking for a new pulmonologist.The dr. called me and told me he would refund the amount paid by BC/BS, I called today, he lied to me. They said if there are some results its going to cost you. NEVER AGAIN, I AM CONTACTING THE NYC BOARD OF HEALTH ON THEM. read more
