Dr Hernandez was awesome. His thorough diagnosis and willingness to spend time with me telling me…read moremy options for care were more than I could ask for. Office staff are friendly and professional. This is a very good doctor!

Snarkiest Office Staff I've EVER Encountered…read more I am a 27 year veteran public school teacher working in the age of COVID, This year we are running a hybrid schedule, I have both students in the room and remote learners at home. It is pretty much like having two full time jobs. Dwell on that for awhile. I clock 10 hours per day on campus with a two and a half hour commute daily. I'm busy beyond your wildest dreams... and, I have a career that precludes my ability to make or receive phone calls during the day. In early 2021 my General Practitioner referred me to Dr. Hernandez for a sleep study. Having done this before I had a pretty good idea what to expect. The initial appointment was made by the faceless & nameless omnibus corporation that runs my health insurance. I knew immediately that was not going to work. I called Dr. Hernandez staff and moved the date to the last week of June, (Summer Break) because I knew there was little chance of me squeezing into his office during this school year and knew I had one week of free time before I went in for a long scheduled knee replacement. Time went by and my appointment stood intact. When my one week of available summer finally came, the pookie hit the fan. During the multiple pre-screening appointments ramping up to my knee surgery an anomaly in my heart pattern was detected and suddenly there was the intense flurry of medical activity to explore my cardiac issue fully before the hospital would accept me as a surgery candidate. I went from having three doctors appointments that week to having seven, two of which were hours long imaging tests that took place within a hospital setting. This happened FAST... within about two or three days... and I knew in my heart I was not going to be able to see Dr. Hernandez that week, there was just too much going on. Being mindful of Dr. Hernandez's time, I called his office within the terms of his cancelation policy posted at his website. I told them what was happening and that I needed to slide the sleep study to the back burner in lieu of my emergency cardiology screenings, pending surgery, and months long recovery time. I would call them back in the fall after school started and I was walking again. They seemed to understand. Time passed, I survived surgery and slowly recovered from my total knee replacement. This week, (early Oct. 2021) I managed to squeeze in a call to Dr. Hernandez' office from my classroom., intending to revive my sleep study appointment. I was bounced from reception to the scheduling agent. I told her my story. She immediately adopted a snarky tone and warned me that since I had "already cancelled my appointment twice, if I missed my appointment this time I'd need to find myself another doctor." I was staggered by the sheer level of disgust that was so deftly wielded and unfeelingly delivered. She wanted to make sure that I understood my place in her little world... and that I understood my duty to stay compliant with her demands or there 'would be consequences.' So... I fired Dr. Hernandez right then and there. No reason to go further here! I told her that would not be a problem, we could take care of that right now and I canceled my appoint simply because of the haughty self--righteous attitude of Dr. Hernandez' staff member. It has been my experience in life that if people are willing to treat you like crap at the beginning of a relationship... there will be little to no chance things will improve later. So, I fired Dr. Hernandez before I ever met the man, simply because his office staff had NO COMPASSION whatsoever for their potential patient. Heaven forbid. I should expect some compassion from my doctor or his staff... they are obviously just too busy and important for such things.
