This store is the absolute worst. Aside from the incredibly insane high prices, which are easily 40% or 50% higher than Walmart, the checkout lines are almost always long and slow (do they deliberately hire the slowest checkers around?). Talk about overpriced and underwhelming products and service...I sent my daughter to Raleys this afternoon to pick up groceries for supper. Nothing fancy, we were planning meatloaf, baked potatoes and broccoli. Bill was ridiculous and whe I tried opening the brown sugar, it was hard as a rock. I asked my daughter if she had noticed and she said she had, and even asked for help to find a fresh package. She was told this was all they had and each and every package was hard as a rock. One of our favorite places to shop when in Carson City. Excellent customer service always willing to help or answer any questions you may have. It always appears well-stocked and clean. The location is close to the Fandango. A large parking lot that is well lit. Easy entry and exit. Not to mention their bakery tends to have some of the most moist and delicious cakes. This place is expensive and the staff are rude. A quart of milk is $2.29 if I go a mile further to Walmart, two a half gallon is $2.22. it is ridiculously expensive. We came to Rylee's for a sandwich after work and got a bag of chips. Sandwiches were good. When we checked out, we gave him the tag she didn't even ask for the sandwiches work cause we ate them. I still feel the store is over priced. Since it is so close to home, we overlook the price and pick up a few items we absolutely need. This location is clean and well stocked. The personnel are very friendly and it's easy to find things. $5 Mondays have returned. A select list of products are reduced to a fin for one day only. I pick up good deals on coffee, detergent and various deli items. A shining star for this Raley's is their prepared meatloaf. As far as Carson City goes, this is the best grocery store we got. Came across a killer steak sale last week, going thru 2-15. Get this, NY CHOICE Grade Bone in, steaks, over $10 off per pound! You get a 3 pak for $5.97/ lb ... and let me tell you, the quality and marbling is close to Prime Grade that sells for over $22 lb at Costco. I got like 3 paks! They cooked up perfect on the gas grill, and froze the rest. Keep an eye out for killer deals, cause they happen! Yeah, salads and veggies are OK too. Pharmacy is the best here! Since Gayle and I moved to Genoa, we've tried to settle on a regular grocery store, besides Trader Joes and Costco. The choice basically comes down to going South to Gardnerville (Raley's and Smith's) or North to Carson City (Raley's, Smith's, or SaveMart). We're selective shoppers at Target and Grocery Outlet, and pretty much avoid Walmart. Right now, Gayle and I like this Raley's the best, although with the produce section in the middle of the store, our usual "shop the perimeter" strategy doesn't work well here. We've also found check out to be efficient, including one particular bagging person who does it the best we've ever seen. For what we shop for (including beer and wine of course), Raley's has what we need. My only exception is that their baked goods section could use a major upgrade. But with Schat's and LA Bakery a short distance down the road, there are alternatives. read more

Recently I have noticed that every time I go there now, especially if I go through the self-checkout someone is always around watching me. I moved from Salinas CA a month ago, and used to shop at the Nob Hill Foods there, for almost 30 years. What a night and day difference in store quality and maintenance! I'll just start with the most absolute worst possible, your produce department! I would not only fire the manager of this department, I would fire the person who hired him as well. The workers themselves can only give what they have been taught, so they are still trainable. I don't have time to list everything I saw, but let's just take the top items; Tomatoes, Leaf lettuce, oranges, almost all of the greens, bananas, half the apples, cucumbers, and green beans. Wilted, dried out, turning black!, bruised, beginning odor, sunken in from age, rotten on either side, rotting, very old looking.....shelf life gone! Now, this is just a brief observation, if I stayed any longer I would have called the Department of Health! Please send your top managers back to school so they can learn about maintaining produce departments, then give them the power to hire other people. I'm very familiar with store chains and management, and I can guarantee you that the fresh produce and vegetables section is paramount to continuing overall store sales and extended patronage. I'll give you guys three months to fix this problem, and if it continues on, I'll have a nice long talk with a good friend of mine at the corporate office. I work in the area and visit this location regularly. The staff working deli is great. There is one young woman in particular that always has a smile on her face and I look forward to her helping me when I stop in for sandwiches. They have a variety of products and the produce is fresh. The reason I am giving this location 3 stars is because I can't get past the fact that they cross out expiration dates and move the expired product to the front of the store. I've bought a breakfast burrito in the past and found it to be expired after taking the first bite, and you could tell it wasn't fresh. I could not finish it. Now, I can't help but wonder how many other expired products they push to sell. read more

Adequate gets the job done! Most of the stuff inside isn't really food but should be labeled a food like American product like most grocery stores in the USA. Dunno why people think eating unhealthy is cheaper than eating healthy - this isn't better price wise on healthy stuff than Whole Foods? Bakery is super frightening but comparable to Safeways. How do American grocery stores get baking soda wrong? It's just flour and a certain amount of salt and sugar and water - feel like I'm eating sugar candy with flour mixed in and that's the bread ! I love Raley's. This is without a doubt, my favorite grocery chain. This was actually the first Raley's I ever shopped in after moving to Nevada, but it is not my regular store. I guess I got hooked that first time I came in. The thing I like best about Raley's is the high quality of customer service. This is one of the few stores I have had someone offer to take my groceries out to my car for me. Staff are out and about and seem to be tuned in when you are looking for something. All the staff seem to know where all the items are. The checkout people are efficient and courteous. The items stocked at Raley's are good quality. The meat is excellent. This store also has a nice sized wine selection. This is an older store and looks a little dark and is perhaps in need of an update. This is a minor quibble as the store is clean and no off odors of over ripe vegetables. When I am in Carson City, this is my go-to spot. read more

First, let's be honest. Raley's is more expensive and doesn't have as wide a range of products as some other stores. But to me a good shopping experience is worth a few dollars more. Raley's stores are clean and most of the employees are helpful. And they have some items that aren't typically carried at other groceries. This Raley's consistently has the best quality and freshest produce of any store in Carson City. The Raley's in South Reno has ridiculous checkout lines, but the one in Carson City does not. There's often no waiting even at peak times, unheard of at groceries these days. If you're trying to feed a large family on a budget, this may not be the store for you. But if you are able to put a value on quality over quantity and want to be treated respectfully, this store is a good choice. Poor customer service. This is not what I expect from Raley's. Went to self check. Had a problem with the machine. A person had to come from half way across the store to fix the machine. No sooner than she walked away, it needed more assistance. So had to wait again. This was suppose to be a quick trip in and out, but became a major ordeal. My go to store for specialty foods in Carson City. They carry many hard-to-find vegan products in most of their departments so you can do your regular food shopping along with your vegan shopping. The bakery is marvelous and it has always been easy to place an order via phone for pick-up later. If you are looking for cards, there's a nice selection of Hallmark cards and wrapping supplies for every occasion. Flowers, handmade soaps, gifts, you name it-a great alternative to big box stores when you're in a pinch. read more

I must say that Mikaela in the Flower department was super nice and helpful and thanks to her was able to surprise my best friend with some beautiful balloons that I used to decorate her birthday celebration. I've never gone to this store as I was warned they're way too expensive, but I was given a gift card over Christmas so I went. Yikes! SUPER over priced! I was shocked at how bad it was. Way higher than Walmart & Smith's, and with a shame of selection. Their set up is wonky as heck too, hard to find the items you're looking for. Heck, for how much you pay for simple basic items, you'd think they'd at least have decent carts & even bags. I have been ordering weekly for home delivery long before Covid. Prior to Covid, the service was excellent. The shopper always texted when items were out of stock, giving the opportunity to choose a replacement. Now, the shopper either determines a replacement for you or, doesn't replace at all. Either way, this new method does not work for me. I either have to go without or pay for items I do not want. I understand Covid has presented special circumstances, however, Raleys service continues to decline while Instacart has stepped up their game. I've given several chances for better service, but it's always one thing or another with Raleys. I now use Instacart to shop at another grocery store that not only has a wider range of selections but also allows me to choose my own substitutions! It's absurd to think some stranger can adequately choose what to get for you. And omitting items from a grocery list can really screw up planned meals. read more

Hmm. Maybe I just keep catching great sales, but it seems like at least with their sale prices, they're trying to be competitive now with the pricing of other middle-of-the-pack markets. Visit this one on Mondays if you can, pretty good $5 sales throughout the store, like a pound of chicken strips or meatloaf. Also it's one of the very few stores in Nevada that I've found Brown Cow yogurt at. Their cream top poops on all other yogurts from a considerable height. I wish I would have written a review about Raley's previously, as I am a huge fan of this store. I am glad this store is conveniently located and has the best presentation of all their goods. Yes I usually end up paying more here than at Walmart or Savemart but I can count on fresh produce and the best meat available. I do want to complain about a certain checker that insists on giving me brown paper sacks every time I go in. I don't know when Raley's started this but when I told him I preferred plastic, he said I already started to bag and proceeded to fill up the other two with brown paper sacks. Excuse me but I thought I did not want to kill a tree and I want to use the plastic one for my small garbage pails in my house. I actually do reuse the plastic ones. Now that this has happened to me a second time....I am posting a YELP REVIEW. I WANT PLASTIC BAGS...SORRY IF you had so many plastic bags that filled up barrels when you moved into your new home, that is not my problem and it is my carbon foot print.
