I love Grocery Outlet! If you're looking for a place to pick up great quality products at a great price, the GOBM is your spot! While the selection may not be consistent, Grocery Outlet provides a great selection of groceries at very reasonable pricing. I always find awesome name brand stuff here and save a ton of money. I also love their healthy aisle where I often find healthy snacks and drinks that I would normally buy at Costco, but sometimes the pricing here is even better. They also have a pretty decent produce and meat selection at this store. The grass fed meat selection and organic produce is a huge win! Phenomenal wine and beer options as well. Nice store, not too busy- I like it better than the one in Reno.. Lucked out- got two bags and a bag of sesame sticks. A lot cheaper than buying on line. Brand is good and price was perfect. they have some great deals on certain things. Gluten Free pasta is a good buy for sure. They have a great wine selection . I always buy their Starbucks brand coffee when they have it in stock, huge savings. Always check for expiration dates on dairy products. Avocados are a great buy here. I still go to regular stores, but always check out this store weekly to see what they have. Customer service is awesome here which is a rare find! read more

I all my years of living in Carson City, I never considered going into Grocery Outlet, just cause it had in my mind a low end food overstock store mainly good if you needed just to find cheap food.But then I read a story on a national news, about Grocery Outlet and how it was actually a good place to go and find unique bargains on all kinds of interesting items, sort of like a discount Trader Joe's, so I decided to check it out. Tons of parking, so no prob there. I saw an email advert for Starbucks Triple shot energy drinks for $1.29. Sounded like a good deal since those drinks were around $4.00 at "normal" stores. Going in, I asked where to find those drinks, rather than wander aimlessly looking for them. The staff was very friendly! I found them and that was a good price, so I got 10 of them. Checked out no prob, credit cards accepted and scanned. I was warned about some items at Grocery Outlet being close to the expiration date, so I checked on the bottom of the cans as I should have done at the store, but didn't. Oh CRAP, the expiration date is July 24, 2024 and so it just gives you about 6 weeks to use the product. If this was a perishable item like bread, I'd be super happy with six weeks, but this is canned coffee drink, which does contain actual milk. I just wanted to try this item, but the price was so good I Got 10! I guess I'll have to consume fast, but just a warning. CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATES ON ITEMS HERE! I wandered the rest of he store to see what other bargains and treasures I might find. Looking at the pricing, sure some of the stuff here is a "little" cheaper than regular store pricing and milk is more here than at Trader Joe's, so you just really need to watch the pricing and the expiration dates. I think I'll pass on Grocery Outlet and just stick to regular stores for the sales and newer shelf life products. If you really need to save money and are gonna use the stuff right away, this might be OK. LIke shopping at a Dollar Store, it has it's use sometimes. read more

I'm biased because I flat out *really like G.O.* and I've been to some thing like a dozen on the West Coast. The most recent manager Mike is quality and I tell him so. He works so diligently. My dad doesn't like this location and preferred the old one but he's an old one too so you can't blame him for preferring what was familiar Great Deals on NOSH items- Natural, Organic, Specialty, Healthy. The Highway 50 location is very convenient to where I spent a lot of time but I somewhat preferred the Carson Street location because it served Carson City's downtown and West Side and now there's a bit of a food desert there. However the relocation was inevitable because the building on Carson Street was getting dilapidated as were the freezers and had no natural light so this move is a good one. You know, you expect food to not be spoiled or rotten and most people don't keep receipts for food. We purchased some shrimp on Friday and went to open it Sunday and it was rotten and smelled horrible. Sunday I called the store to tell them what happened and they told me to come in with the original box seeing how I don't have a receipt and they would exchange it or refund me. Monday we go in with the shrimp and they tell me no refunds or exchanges without a receipt and she was very rude. This shrimp smelled so bad and the shrimp they had in their refrigerator also smelled rotten, but they will sell it to you and not care. read more

While it might seem obvious that this is a grocery store, it's not quite what you would expect from a place with "outlet" or "bargain" in its name. The first time I visited this place I expected to find lots of junk but it's not like that at all. Sure, they have a few lower quality brands of frozen foods and canned goods but they also have some really high quality health foods, dog treats, fresh organic produce and meats, and an extensive wine selection. First Fridays of the of the month are wine-tasting days so if you aren't great at blind picking wine, I highly suggest this fun event. Sometimes they even offer 20% off of their already low prices on their wines so you can really stock up. I've seen wines in there that were triple the price in some other stores, who shall remain nameless. This is my go-to place for many of my organic and keto diet ingredients. They carry organic ghee, chia seeds, organic quinoa, protein powders, grass-fed beef, organic teas, great cheeses, kombucha, so many things that you pay an arm and a leg for other places. Some locations are nicer than others and the selction vasries as well. My two favorites are Lemmon Valley and the Sparks (Disc Drive) locations. Aw, bummer. This store lost me as a customer at the Carson City last week after 5 years of it being my primary grocery shopping spot. I'd estimate I spent an average of $600 a month there. Losing my business wasn't a concern for the store, and with all the great reviews on here I'm sure my $600 or so a month won't be missed. I'll note that I've had some of the very best customer service at this store in the past. But it turns out the owner, Tommy, won't help you even if you walk right up to him and ask. He will look at you blankly and go back to joking around with the guys. I'm not a Karen, at all, btw, just not a fan of what happened. I've decided To take my business to Save Mart & Costco again, where my business is valued. I suppose I'll miss some good deals on nearly expired foods at the Carson store, but I can always drop in at the Dayton or Gardnerville stores when I'm in those areas. read more

Be prepared for Shaunte to be rude as hell and tell you how this Grocery Outlet location has a worse protocol than the other Grocery Outlets she's worked at. Since this store has new owner/management it has dramatically gone down hill. They no longer guarantee their products and I found the manager, Jim, to be rude and condescending. They used to have a senior citizen discount, which they no longer offer. I do not recommend this location, nor will I shop there again. read more

This is a joke right?! I get there at 7:45 and the parking lot seemed a little empty so I look up what time they open and all the sites say 7am so I thought "awesome I can get a coffee before work". I walk up and the automatic doors are fully opened so I go in and head toward the coffee stuff. All of a sudden this guy tells me that they're not open and asks how I got in and that they don't open til 8. I let him know that the door was wide open and online said they opened at 7. He said the delivery people leave the doors open but that I can't be in here since they don't open til 8. YOUR SITES SAID 7AM SIR! Update your sites or have a better attitude. I went into Grocery Outlet for the very first time. Sadly it felt like there were attitudes all around. No employee acknowledged you, nor did they seem to even want to help. I can move on from that but to be treated horribly as we were checking out is just beyond words. The checker Elexus said nothing as we stood there having our stuff rung up, I then walk over to put the bags in the cart and I notice she has put bread with cans, raw meat with my fruits, fresh produce with cans. After fixing a few bags I simply asked her to please be a bit more careful with how she bags the rest of the groceries. She replied she could have someone else bag my groceries if I had a problem. Then she called the manager over because a customer was being disrespectful.(meaning me). I stated to the manager exactly what I have written here; as the cashier proceeds to tell the manager she has had several complaints all about attitudes but she has treated everyone of them with respect. The manager replies with, it looks like you guys figured it out. That's all we got out of all of that. If I was wrong for asking that my groceries be bagged with a bit more care so nothing is destroyed on the trip home, then I apologize fully. But truthfully I don't think I will be returning. Bag your groceries how you would bag your own. Hopefully all in one piece. read more

I stopped by grocery outlet to pick up a couple things this evening just before 5pm. I was second in line at the only register open. Lady in front of me had a cart completely FULL of goodies. A man walked up behind me making him number three in line. Within about a minute, another checker comes up, taps him on the shoulder and takes him over to the register. WTH? By the time I walked over there another grocery outlet employee became the second person in line buying his four packets of Tillamook cheese snacks. So I stood behind those two people as the number three person. How did that happen? I really wanted to say something, but it wasn't the fault of the two men now in front of me. It would have been awkward to mention it at that point. The female employee whose name I think started with an A and it might have been about five letters long... I couldn't really see her name because she wears it down below her waist and hidden behind the cash register drawer... asked how I was doing from behind her sparkly mask. I was so annoyed, but didn't want to cause a scene. I also don't know how she could have possibly missed me since I am a rather sturdy sized girl. Her intent was obvious. She wanted to help the man out first. I would have understood if he was elderly or perhaps physically challenged, but that was not the case either. And if I had said anything even at the point that I was finally being helped, it would have just appeared that I was being cranky. However, it would be really nice if a manager could explain the ways of helping the NEXT customer in line. . read more

That also goes for cleanliness, sanitation, and lighting. The Tahoe and Minden Grocery outlet's work hand in hand to pool their resources, offer greater resources and truly make every effort to support the vegan offerings that cannot be located even at Wholefoods. Both of the Tahoe and Minden managers are the most accommodating grocery people I have ever met to support a vegan lifestyle...so much so they have an entire aisle dedicated to vegan food. Normally wouldn't review a grocery store but Grocery Outlet is fantastic! If you are on a budget or just enjoy being a thrifty shopper this place is for you. The items are hit or miss, but I can normally get 75% or more of my grocery shopping done before hitting Smiths, saving me a ton of money! Naturally, like any discount food store you need to be mindful of what you are buying. Check produce and meats for spoil and double check your expiration dates. I always seem to do well with canned or boxed goods, as well as wine and spirits. Lastly, they have a ton of great discounts of personal hygiene products and housewares especially for the kitchen! Lastly, I appreciate that they have a decent Organic section and they stock vegetarian freezer items as well. Don't be scared and give it a go- just be mindful and check your dates! read more

Maybe it's just my timing, but Grocery Outlets seem to be hit-or-miss for me. Like, the one in Reno is OK, but I always seem to walk out nearly empty handed and a little disappointed. But this one in Carson always seems to be a treasure trove of deals, especially the candy/chocolate section. Tons of imported stuff you've never heard of and that probably should cost a lot more. Just one thing here, always check expiry dates, especially the stuff that's super discounted in front or on the endcaps. It's usually on super sale because it's already expired by a few days. For some things (like Slim Jims) I doubt it matters much but I wouldn't play around with expired protein bars or frozen fish. read more

I love this place. It's a little dirty. It has a mild feeling of depression. Sometimes a snotty part of me feels like I don't belong. Many prices for name brand items are similar, but sometimes there's a diamond in the rough, in particular I've found Triscuits here were super cheap, like 1.69 for a box or it was 4.99 for a 2+ pound box with 4 bags in it last week. I also really like their strange wines (many of which you will have never heard) that say they're between 25 and 65 percent off. I've tried some and been quite happy. I've gotten the 3.99 Nicaraguan beer Tona and loved it. There are often gourmet items for way cheap, like omega-3 chocolate milk half gallons for 1.50 or spicy taquitos, 1/2 pound for 1.50. I've gotten Power Bars, 3 for 1.50 too. If you search, you'll find an interesting deal for a item you never new existed, or in a flavor you never existed and that you'll probably never find again. It's a store for treasure hunters. They're all franchises too. They have regular items, but they also get many discontinued or overstock items. It makes for the most adventurous shopping experience you'll likely find in this country. The staff is generally friendly, but they way they act I suspect they're underpaid. They just seem a little unhappy about the whole thing. In particular, you'll find great deals on beverages, more so on non-alcoholic ones, but there sure are some wines that seem interesting for 3-8 dollars. read more

Like all GO stores, it's hit-and-miss, but it seems like the owners do a good job of trying to stock the "good stuff" as far as my tastes go (e.g. more "natural" products). I was confused at first because the layout was opposite of every other GO I've been in (and they further mixed up with some strange logic to placement of items). But overall A-OK for these folks. PS - for those of you wondering about the "strange wines", these are names made-up by GO or the winemakers. I know because a friend at a winery (that I'm not allowed to name) met with them to arrange a big purchase of some Napa Valley wines. read more
