Had a cake made and decorated by the amazing Miss Thalia. Loved my cake! It was delicious and it was absolutely beautiful! However, I had a hard time with getting anyone to help me get the cake at the cake department. There were 3 people working, all three would look at me and not help me. I waited probably about 10 minutes just to be helped which was strange. Once I was finally acknowledged, they couldn't find my cake and I was so worried it was missing. But eventually they did find it... seemed a bit disorganized. Also, I went to buy the rest of my groceries for the party and bought three bottles of cranberry juice. New development at the Save Mart deli section. They now have fresh made sushi, made right there by a real sushi chef. Mostly there are rolls packaged like a California roll for about $9.50 for 12 pieces. The fancier rolls cost more, like ones with tuna or crystal shrimp and other toppings. But they also offer nigiri pieces in a bigger package with one roll, for like $15. The prices are about what you might pay at a sushi bar ala carte. The quality is pretty good, good as any sushi bar in town at least. This sushi is waaay better than the pre packaged stuff at like Trader Joe's or Costco. Pro tip, fresh sushi does NOT keep for long, so eat it the same day, otherwise it might get dried out. Good to have a fresh made sushi choice right here at the Save mart! If you don't see what you want, just ask and they chef will make it for you! Each box has wasabi and ginger as well as soy sauce included! read more

The deli has really gone downhill. I just bought a pound of ham at 12:30 on 5/31/2926. I asked for shaved and instead I got thick slice. Like all grocery markets, I sale shop Save Mart for the best prices. I like using the their app when I am shopping there as it is easy to navigate and the digital coupons are always there at the checkstand. I have received several discount coupons for regularly shopping. Thursdays are fun with weekly sales!! My family and I enjoyed browsing this large store with the wide aisles. We even found some interesting imported items. However, I noticed everyone was using the self checkouts and I realized why. The impatient, rude clerk shouted at us when we realized that an item we wanted to buy was damaged. She acted like it was our fault and we'd cooked up this problem just to annoy her. She didn't help us with the problem at all, although she had a bagger there who could've gone for a new item. She just made us feel like dirt. I won't forget this woman shouting at us. It makes me feel like never entering this store again. The way she acted was one of the worst experiences I've ever had when it comes to customer service. read more

It's clean and the people are friendly but they have one register and a dozen piles of warm crap called self checkouts that are wound so tight, if you put your purchase on the wrong edge of the bagging area the whole system shuts down and starts screaming for an attendant. Due to a standing appointment in the area, I often end up at the Save Mart to pick up "odd and ends" groceries before I head home. It's a fairly convenient stop and getting back to I-580/US 395 (Via Arrowhead) is fairly easy. Gayle and I regularly do our grocery shopping at the Raley's in Carson City, which is closer to our home in Genoa. As with other regular supermarkets that we've shopped over the years, we can both mentally walk through the store in making up our lists. As this Save Mart is more of a convenience shop for me, I don't have that muscle memory here. However, if I stick to the rule of thumb that the key things we need are on the perimeter of the store, I don't spend too much time wandering around relatively lost. In other words, I'm in and out of here in a few minutes with what I need. read more

The food is mostly trash and I don't say that lightly. I can't count how many times I've been to the produce section only to find rotten produce. The fish and meat area smells so foul I can hardly shop in the store. It is sickening. I'd like to comment on the service but I never get any. Don't get me stared on the prices ... Everything here is double and triple in price vs Walmart or other stores.. I went there the other day to get a few things on Christmas eve and I spent $91 on three bags of groceries.. A gallon of sweet tea is $6.19 Walmart has it for $2.98.. A small bag of salad $3.99...$2.48 at Walmart.. inflation on groceries is high enough without paying 2-3 times what other stores charge. But, when I searched for chicken breasts I noticed there was only one or two items to choose from and the lowest price was $6.00/lb. I thought, there is something really wrong here! So I went to the Savemart website and searched for chicken breasts and I found 10+ items to choose from and the lowest price per pound was $2.99/lb. The store layout is Gorgeous. Little difficult to navigate as a first-timer. But the general nastiness and unfriendlines of the employees is too difficult to stomach. They are even unkind to each other. I much prefer the friendly, welcoming environment of the savemart on the south side. read more

Market is large, clean, typical food stocks carried by big chains The prices can be a tad higher however I digress; we use a lot of a flavoured water and went to a competitor to order five cases. They muddled the order multiple times so we came here. I shopped at the Save Mart in Tehachapi for years so was familiar with the chain. Anyway, we spoke with the manager and she immediately said we could pick them up in two days. She'd call us. She had our order the next day! When I went to pick up my prescription I asked if getting a 90 day supply was pharmacy or Dr decision. I got a chocolate with bananas and a marble cake with strawberries. Both cakes ran me about $80 but wasted like a million dollar dessert. Thalia loves what she does and she work speaks for itself. I went here today, Wednesday, April 12, 2019 to pick up a free package of salami that rewards members got, valued at $5.99. I generally do not shop here, as I find Costco, Trader Joe's, and Walmart have better prices; but, hey, if it's free, why not? I have been here about three or four other times since 2014. The supermarket is in a plaza by itself, along with a Union 76 gas station, which I believe is also run by Save Mart, but I could be wrong on this. There is a pharmacy inside, as well as slot machines up front and a propane gas exchange and Redbox. They store has four self-service check out registers, and well as one or two manned registers. This is a huge, full-service store with deli and bakery and the like, but I rarely see many people in here, so I don't know how they manage to stay in business. They are so big in fact, that I can get tired walking around the store looking for an item, haha! The customer service here is always excellent, and there is never much of a wait. Whenever I have asked a question, they know the answer and are very helpful. Parking is ample, although I wish they did not have diagonal parking, as there is plenty of space. It is also a pain to drive to the end of the parking lot to get out (diagonal parking is supposed to mean one way usually), only to see there is no exit there (there is one on West College Parkway by the store, and another north of the gas station, but I usually do not want to go by or through there to get to the exit). read more

This Savemart is a bit out of the way for me, so I don't go here often. But when I do, I always find it to be clean, well stocked and with friendly staff. As we are still in the midst of this pandemic, it was nice to see someone wiping down carts at the entrance (and greeting everyone on their way in.) The pharmacy, in particular, was fantastic last week. I dropped off a new prescription and haven't used this pharmacy in 10+ years, so I thought it would take some time. The Pharmacy Technician had it in the system in about 2 minutes and the prescription was ready for pick-up 15 minutes later, as promised. Keep up the good work, Savemart! read more

The new store look is great but the employees are pushing my buttons. They have a new peanut butter machine. When they put it in my family would get 2+ containers a week we liked it so much and no longer had to go to Reno for it. Listed in the label it says "no salt". Someone working screwed up and put salted peanuts in it. With the salt at the bottom of the bag abou or getting it gets peanut butter that tastes like ocean water. I have mentioned it to two separate employees even showing one the sign stating "no salt" and the salt buildups on the side of the hopper. No one has bothered to fix it and even got an eye roll over it. It is a wonder that they went from refilling weekly to not selling much at all and no one thought to wonder why. read more

Everyone raved about the fried chicken, so once while I was in this neck of the woods, I popped in to take some on the way home. It wudn't no KFC, but it'll do in a pinch. Drove 25 miles one way to find a certain product (12 pack sodas) I was unable to locate elsewhere. This store had 6 of them, but on sale only in multiples of 4. Plus an additional $2 rewards coupon. I purchased the 6 they had, but the last 2 were at the full price, and all attempts by the staff were unable to give me either the sale price on all of them, nor the coupon, in spite of me having a Lucky's reward app. (They even made me add the Save Mart app, which also didn't work, and in spite of me already having a Lucky's app.) The assistant manager said he didn't want to give me the sale price for fear of reprisal from management. This is for the bakery ! I called twice in the last 2 months for a birthday cake for my granddaughters . It's kinda hard to get ahold of them but once I did I ordered an Owlette cake for one granddaughter in October and the guy actually knew what I was talking about ( I had called several places and they were clueless ) ! It turned out very pretty! She loved it ! I ordered another one this week for my other granddaughter she wanted a birthday cake with planets on it . Like my friend Kara said, this USED to be Albertsons Supermarket, but is now SaveMart. Same store, different name. And also like Kara, this store will ALWAYS be Albertsons to me, no matter WHAT they rename it (even if they call it Central Market - the huge super-supermarket up in the northwest). Actually, my wife and I do not regularly shop here, unless we need some fresh seafood, or a specially cut thick steak, because their meat and seafood section is second to none. They also have an impressive wine section where you can find some really top shelf selections. It's surprising! Good selection of magazines and softcover books as well. I like this store, I really do. It's just not close to our house. I pass it on my way home so it serves as my 'emergency' stop in case I have a brain-storm idea for breakfast and it can't wait until I get to our normal 'shopage'. read more

I DID NOT DO THIS BECAUSE OF A BAD EXPERIENCE: I have been going to this Save Mart for almost 5 years now. The customer service has always been amazing and the employees have always been hardworking. I left a one star review for one reason and one reason alone. The fact that the management here wants their staff to be Supermen. As I was shopping tonight, I noticed an employee was struggling with a humongous cart of pulled chickens. I counted over 21. I asked if I could help because they were struggling to keep the chickens balanced. The employee politely declined and asked me if I needed any help. I actually didn't need help. When I asked where the employee's help was they were embarrassed and replied that they were the only one working the closing shift. I noted that the store was closed in 40 minutes. They replied that they were working hard so they could be out on time but they would have to de-bone all the chickens first. With the workload they had I doubt they got out on time. Then I looked at the other departments. Every single one had only one closer. How can a company expect a single employee to do everything? I no longer hold any respect for this company. I had a great experience with the bakery department. My kiddo was having a birthday and has allergies. They are very accommodating and worked with me. Kiddo has a food dye allergy and I brought the natural dyes in and they made a beautiful cake for her. She did not have a reaction from the cake and we had a great birthday for her. You are not going to believe this. While shopping at Savemart I ask the meat lady about their sausage. Her response was that they don't make it anymore because they only have one meat grinder and using the same meat grinder for pork as well as for beef is offensive to the Muslims. Savemart corporate declined getting two different grinders and just said f*** it. read more

This is the third Save-Mart I've visited since I started spending time in Nevada and at this point I have no idea how the chain gets away with having the word "Save" in their name. When your prices are higher than the Safeways in coastal California for the exact same items, well ... I guess the business strategy is to lure you in with the word "Save" thinking it's a competitively priced store, then once inside the generic mid-tier warehouse-like ambience makes you think you're not overspending on groceries. Even their sale prices suck, the yellow tag stuff is just slightly inflated over other stores, whereas the regular prices are insanely inflated. I still wind up here while visiting Reno and Carson sometimes because, even with the price jacking, it's still a bit cheaper to get some salads and chicken at the deli, yogurt for breakfast, etc., if one happens to be walking distance of where I'm staying .... it's BARELY cheaper than eating even in fast food restaurants, though. read more

I can always find what I want for a reasonable price. However... My issue is with some of the employees. More than once, I've been nearly run over in the aisles by employees in a hurry. Last night, at just after 5 pm, the lady who was "helping" at the self-checkout was blatantly rude. I had my few items I was ringing up, set the basket next to the scanner (there was no sign telling me where to put it), and the lady snapped at me for putting it there. For the love of God, don't order a special cake from this place!!! I went in and ordered two cakes. The person I ordered them for was having a rough time and we were throwing him a party at the office. He's a 49ers fan, so I ordered 59er cakes. NEVER did I even mention Christmas when ordering these cakes. NEVER!!! I only said, I want two cakes, one chocolate and one white cake, both in the form of 49er helmets. THAT'S IT!!!!! I called to find out what time they close. No one from the bakery answered. I called six times. SIX! Turns out that, after talking to ANOTHER department, that the bakery wasn't supposed to close for another hour. When I got to the store, 30 minutes before they close, I went straight to the bakery. There were people there. I heard them. I called for them. But no one responded. SEVERAL employees walked by. But every time I turned to one of them, the avoided me by going down another aisle or just ignoring me completely. Finally, I called the front from the bakery section. I let them know how long I had been waiting and the entire scenario. They sent a manager to go check. Finally, they brought the cakes to me. Guess what was written on them?!? "Merry Christmas to All" in big red letters. When I told the manager why this wasn't acceptable, he simply said he would give me a discount. That discount is the only reason I gave them an extra star. He couldn't do much, since he's not a baker. But, he did what he could. Thank God that my wife is an amazingly resourceful woman who was able to remove the letters and fix the cake. It only took another $20 for supplies and hours of her time... Even Wal-Mart does a better job. Just saying. read more
