The isles in the store are super tight, but I put up with it because their sushi bar is great. Their sushi is prepared fresh daily (they even take special orders) and although it doesn't bring the same experience as going to your local sushi bar, it definitely feels great to be able to take home a few rolls, take your shoes off and sit in front of your TV. The best part is being able to crawl into bed after having too much sake and beer! read more

I buy most of my groceries at the nearby Trader Joe's or Farm to Market in San Juan, but there are usually a few things that still require a "regular" grocery store and I think this is the best one around. The selection is good, the store is well-organized and clean, and the staff is friendly and professional. There is a decent sushi bar and deli for those lazy nights when I don't feel like cooking. And, two Redbox kiosks that seem to have a better selection than other Redboxes in the area. The crowd and staff are also less sketchy here as compared to other grocery stores close by (i.e. Ralphs on PCH and Albertsons on Del Obispo). read more

I have been going to this Ralph's since 2009 and sad to say many of the food items are not fresh. I have had many items such as birthday cakes, pies, produce and dairy spoiled. My husband and I just did our grocery shopping. He opened a container of individual packed apples and three packs had spoiled moldy apples. I am very disappointed. I go to this Ralph's because it is close to home and I like the staff. The Lake Forest store is pretty good, and so is the store close to my job in Fountain Valley. My review is for the Ralphs bakery. I am so extremely disappointed in the way they handled my order. I have twins and I ordered two cakes that I saw were available on their website. I made the mistake of calling the 877 number and they transferred me to at store location that was "closest" to me. Well they never told where they were transferring me although I did tell them the Laguna Niguel location was probably the best place to send me. When I was transferred I was not told where I was being sent or given a phone number. Once I got on the phone with someone at the bakery I told them what cake I wanted, I was put on hold to see if they had the kit and they came back and told me they had the one I wanted or a pirate version. I said I wanted the regular spongebob. The second cake was a red velvet cake, they said they had vanilla, chocolate or marble in a cake but they offered to do a "pull apart" cupcake cake but the girl was unsure if they could print a photo on that so she said she would leave a note for her manager and someone would call me the next day. I never heard back the next day so I called the location I thought I was sent to in Laguna Niguel. Well they couldn't find my order so I called SEVEN other Ralph's to see where my order was. I finally called the 877 number again to see if they could help me but they couldn't. They sent me to a store in San Clemente instead who they said had the kit I was looking for. I ordered the cakes and went to pick up Saturday morning as planned. Low and behold when I picked them up it wasn't the cakes I had requested but some other crappy version of what the kids wanted. The "happy birthday" and their names had been written by what looked like a 5 year old. Completely ridiculous and I shouldn't have had to pay for that but I did because it was my kids birthday and I had no choice at that point. WELLLL TODAY, the day after the party, the Ocean Ranch location calls me with a lot of attitude telling me they had 2 cakes waiting to be picked up. They insisted that they had called me and left me TWO messages which was a bold faced lie. I know how to use an iPhone and I had no missed calls and no voicemails. I stay on top of both because my job as an EVENT PLANNER requires that I pay attention to phone calls because I get calls from florists, DJs and bakers ALL THE TIME! Had they called to confirm the next day as promised, I would not have gone through this whole nightmare. I still went to the Ralph's to pick up the cakes because those were the ones my boys really wanted and I was having a bunch of kids over the next day anyway. Well when I got there, they weren't the cakes I ordered. The lady basically said I didn't answer my phone or voicemails and that they didn't have the kit for the spongebob cake I was looking for and that she didn't know what I expected but that's what they had. Honestly, all it did was add insult to injury. Why would I lie or make any of this up? At no time did ANY Ralph's employee apologize for what the mistakes THEY made and they refused to take responsibility. The focus was blaming me and basically calling me a liar. Needless to say, I will never order another cake from Ralph's. What a complete nightmare. read more

Why don't any of the checkers bag my groceries? I hand over my bags to the checkers But if there is no bagger available they just keep stacking up my groceries at the end of the belt until i start bagging myself so my bread eggs etc. Dont get crushed. I would think with the hourly rate of a union employee I would at least see an attempt at bagging service but no such luck . Was recently in this Market and noticed a few people in the produce section not wearing masks. There's clearly a sign as you enter the store saying masks required. I was very uncomfortable. These people could have been COVID carriers and they are breathing on the produce! I decided not to buy any produce that day. Just wish they could post someone at the door asking people to wear masks. I work for a dentist and we ask everyone who comes in our office to put on a mask. It's just not that hard people! I love the new remodel because it now has transformed into an inviting, classy ambiance while getting through the necessary chores of my day. I have a big bone to pick with the buyer. ..they stopped selling many items I used to find there. What's up with that? For an example here's a partial list of items that they don't carry anymore: V8 juice in individual cans/servings, small star pasta, marinated mini corn, Bigalow Constant Comment & Earl Gray tea, including decaf, Land o Lakes cheeses (I especially liked the extra sharp cheddar). I'm impressed with the added gourmet cheese station but it is pricey and there are many commercial choices that are wonderful and more affordable. They are not Bristol Farms, Gelsons or Whole Foods.They are a Ralphs, for goodness sakes. I go elsewhere now to save and to find the things they no longer carry. read more

This review is for Ralphs on Golden Lantern in Dana Point. It is bad enough that we have to enter our phone number or carry around a stupid discount card, but now we also have to scan the coupon code in the store. I wanted to take advantage of .99 a lb peaches verses the regular price of $2.49. But in order to do that I need the Ralph club card thing or whatever they call it, AND I needed to stop my shopping to scan the bar code, then I needed to remember to pull that up at checkout while everyone is waiting. Really?! Well, my scanner thing doesn't work, and they wouldn't give me the discount. Only the daytime manager could authorize something like that. The night time manager had no power. I walked out leaving a full cart because of $3.00. I went to Albertson's and got my peaches for .99 lb without a card or scanner. But that isn't the end of the story they had a product that also needed a bar code scan for the discount. I told them I didn't have a barcode scanner so they gave me a "special coupon discount just for me" and rounded it up. And I didn't even need to get a manager to do it. After 28 years at Ralph's, Albertson's is stealing me away and it only cost them $2.00 (my special coupon savings). read more

The Customer service is poor. At the check out they ask you if you found everything and they do not care what your response is. If you said you did not find something, they say oh well. If you you point out a concern to a store manager they literally do nothing, so why bother! Actually why bother shopping at Ralph's when we have plenty of other grocery stores in our area? The service deli is very poor on customer service. The customers have to wait while they finish cleaning something before providing service. They are task orientated rather than service orientated. Why don't they clean when their are no customers waiting to pay $10.99 a pound for sliced meat? They act disturbed if you order serval items in their service deli, which is ironic and absurd. I strongly recommend shopping else where. read more

Kudos to Linda, Prathilia, the manager and the nice black man working behind the deli (forgot his name). My fiance and I had arrived for our wedding. We had no lunch, had been on standby for our flights all day, were worn out, hungry, and irritable. Walking into Ralph's was a pleasant surprise with beautiful flowers and roses! Linda came to our rescue! I saw the flowers I wanted for my bouquet and she was so kind and gracious. She eoffered to make my wedding bouquet, get my fresh rose petals to spread on the beach, and turned my terrible day around. Then, she told us to follow her to the deli where she had Prthilia to give us a chicken strip fresh strawberries, and a Coke. I am diabetic and was about to go down. So nice to us, it made our day. Ralph's has always been the superior market when I come to visit my son in San Juan Capistrano but these exceptional employees should be given special recognition AND a bonus. This is a fresh fare Ralphs and that means its a step above the other Ralphs around. I went to this store twice and one day so I figured I would yelp it. Fresh fares have a lot more cool things than the regular ralphs. They have more items to pick up at the deli/meat counter. Their pre-made breakfast burritos are good to pick up in the morning after a night of drinking. They have an olive and hummus bar which looked pretty rad. Also the fruit and veggie section is all fancied up. Both times I used the self check out but the employees running the self-check out area where friendly. They asked me if I needed any help and thanked me for my business as I walked out. read more

The Ralph's website to order groceries is flawed. You select you groceries, then the website tells you to go pick up far away. So you select the free delivery, and you have to start over selecting your groceries. Not a useful or user friendly website. Ralph's needs to hire some real computer experts. read more

Visited your store tonight while eating for Choya restaurant to open. Very impressed with the new additions however your prices are still higher than where I shop. Your wine prices for buying 6 bottles at a discount for the wine I buy are more than a dollar higher than Albertsons, where I shop. I like your new improvement and would like to shop there but not with the higher prices. I love that this Ralphs has a big cheese selection (because I LOVE cheese). There is a Ralphs closer to me, but it doesn't have as many cheese choices. Also, this Ralphs has a nice meat selection with some amazing cuts of meats. I used to go out of my way to shop at this Ralphs rather than the one next to me for these reasons. However, lately I have noticed a lack of grocery baggers. This store needs to hire more of them, OR maybe consider paying its customers for bagging their own groceries. And the three star rating is because of that, otherwise I would be giving it a five. The last handful of times I have shopped at this Ralphs I have had to bag my own groceries and deal with a grumpy cashier who seems quite embarrassed that I have to bag my own groceries. read more

OK, today was the last straw for this store. Their customer service has always been so-so at best, and their selection is poor for anything else but basic staples. The only advantage they offer me is their proximity to my home and they are slightly less expensive than Gelson's. Today, however, they decided to start charging 10 cents each for any bags. Enough. I rarely write reviews that could damage the reputation of a business as I know how hard people work to build a business, but in this case , it is warranted . There is a sign in front of Ralph's in Ocean Ranch, in Dana point. It reads that you need to wear a mask in order to shop in the store, they also have pre-recorded messages played while you shop over the intercom, also telling you the wear a mask. On the surface , both of these seem to be very commendable and seems to look like Ralph's truly cares about its patrons and employees . But in reality, these messages seems to only be a suggestion, as per the manager of the store. While I was shopping this weekend, I noticed several people just walking into the store without masks, making no effort to cover their face, while others were in fact , going to great lengths to cover up. It is stressful enough going into markets , trying to maneuver your way through people while trying to keep a distance, making sure you don't touch too many things in the process, while wearing a hot and uncomfortable mask. But we do it because we care about our health and the health of our community. Yet , no matter what we do, there are those who disregard and disrespect others around them. I finally got fed up and asked an employee why there were so many customers in the store without protection. I wanted to know why they were allowed to shop in the store without masks . He shook his head and said that sadly the management does not enforce the rules. He said all of the employees talk amongst themselves and are very concerned for their own well being and health because they are working in an environment where people could be infecting them daily . He asked me to please take my complaint to the manager in the hope that I would be heard . Well, I was able to speak with a young manager about the situation. I asked her why they did not enforce the rule of wearing masks and she flat out told me that it is not their job to force people to adhere to the rules and they will allow anyone to shop there with or without a mask. She didn't seem to care about any of my concerns and seemed quite arrogant . So, there you have it. The warnings to shoppers that you see and hear at Ralph's are just a ruse . They do it as a CYA. They don't even care about their own employees who are in constant contact with maskless customers. I say, if you do not wish to wear a mask , please do not expose those who choose to be responsible . I also say that Ralph's should add a disclaimer on the signs out front stating that they do not enforce any rules and you enter at your own risk. At least then, people can make an educated decision. I will not be shopping there again. And for all the brave employees who work there , I commend you. You all deserve 5 stars , unfortunately, your management deserves nothing . read more

My husband I just moved to Dana Point and this is the closest grocery. We usually have a great experience here, but tonight was different. While the cashier was nice, the bagger (an older gentleman) kept rolling his eyes at how much stuff we had whilst carelessly tossing our items in bags. I get that everyone has off days, but this seemed excessive. We felt very unwelcome and are honestly considering going to Trader Joes instead as we can always count on great customer service there. This Ralphs is right next to my dads and I love that aspect of it. It's incredibly clean, employees are friendly and there is a huge selection of food to choose from - it's a decently sized Ralphs. I also LOVE that there's a Starbucks there. Alas, all good things must come to an end... The parking situation is hell. The lot is far too small to accommodate Ralphs customers and the other businesses located in that plaza. read more

This Ralphs is a Fresh Fare. First thing I noticed when I stepped inside were the beach decorations. Not sure if it's because it's summer or because it's Dana Point. The only complaint I have is that the produce section is a bit tight. It's hard to walk around with a cart in that section. But they have the nicest Ralphs staff I have ever met. The People that work at this store are good people and they are trying to do a good job. The problems at this store are coming from the upper management at the corporate office making decisions that are purely for profit at the customers expense. For example; Reshelving the entire store, changing the products they have carried for years to other products!?! Reducing checkers hours and trying to force you to check yourself out. I'm tired of relearning my store every time they redo the store. I'm going to Trader Joe's from now on because they care about their customers. I will still be forced to buy some items from Ralph's until they discontinue selling those too. It's so frustrating. read more

First time coming to this particular location. I have to say, this is probably the nicest Ralphs I have ever been to. It feels.. so warm and cozy. Haha This place is pretty busy. The aisles are little smaller than I'm used to. But very well organized. I like that the flower section is right at the entrance. Who doesn't want to see pretty flowers when you walk into a store? The employees are very nice. They have paper bags! Yay! My normal Ralphs doesn't even offer paper bags anymore. They have a Starbucks!! Love that. Even though there is one right across the shopping center, this is much more convenient. Probably going to be my go to grocery store while I'm living in the area. read more

Their bags smell like fertilizer!!!! The self-checkout machines are always on the blink. There is a checker who is a woman, looks like a man...she is allergic to everything. She tells customers to leave because of perfume or lotions they are wearing. There is a middle aged female manager with long bleached blond hair who is extremely mean and authoritative. Brought my puppy in, all of 10 lbs. for water, I was visibly shaken because pup was almost hit by a car. This mean woman ordered me out of store because of pup. She was so caught up on her authority, she did not notice I was shaken plus the pup is in Therapy Dog training. Yuck!!!! Will go to Ralphs down by PCH instead. read more
