This location is awful with terrible customer service. The short bald employee by the name of Christian is a rude worker with a bad attitude. If you can't be helpful and hate your job in customer service, then with work somewhere else. What an ugly and miserable person! I prefer the Ralphs in Laguna Niguel. I order online and pick up my groceries to save time. I rarely save time since when I use their app and I text the parking spot it doesn't go through. I call customer service in the store and no answer. I go in the store and can hear customer service being paged 3x that they have a call. A cashier finally pages the employee who brings out the groceries. The shoppers are fabulous but the management is not. read more

While shopping at Ralphs, I experienced what I believe to be racial profiling and extremely poor customer service. I had a cart with frozen fish, fish fry, canola oil, cookies, and potatoes. As I made my way to the self-checkout, I noticed an older female staff member standing near the exit doors, watching me intently. When I turned toward the self-checkout, she began following me, maintaining direct eye contact. As I began scanning my first item, I looked for shopping bags and didn't see any. I asked the same staff member--who had been watching me--where the bags were. She curtly replied, "They're right in front of you," and pointed down. My cart had been blocking my view, so I hadn't seen them. I said "thank you" and continued scanning my items. Throughout my transaction, she stood next to me, closely watching everything I scanned and even looked inside my cart as I finished. Once I completed scanning, she walked away. As I was paying, while putting my card back in my wallet, she returned and said, "Sir, you need to press the confirm button." I explained I was in the middle of putting my card away. Meanwhile, other employees walked by, glancing into my bags and adjusting items that were already neatly arranged. One even came by and added more paper bags at my station only. After I received my receipt, the manager happened to be nearby, watching me as I exited the store. We made eye contact as I held the door for an elderly customer. I am an African American man with locs, wearing blue jeans with a Flash superhero emblem and white canvas shoes. I've worked in retail for over 12 years--I know what it looks and feels like to be followed, scrutinized, and profiled. Ralphs failed today in providing fair, respectful service and making every customer feel welcome. I felt uncomfortable, targeted, and treated as if I were guilty of something simply for shopping. It's not right--for me or anyone else who looks like me. While this Ralphs location is closest to me and I intend to continue shopping here, I will speak out every time I feel disrespected until something changes. No cart corals. There are rusty carts strewn across the half filled parking lot, because many customers can't be bothered to walk it to the front of the store. Store is cramped. Especially at the front. Narrowed by displays creeping into the path. It's supposed to be a little more upscale than most Ralph's but it's stress inducing. I couldn't wait to get out. read more

Ralphs keeps getting worse and worse. Prices continue to go up for no reason other than CORPORATE GREED! We need to stop this madness by not purchasing foods that are over priced! Also, today I discovered they installed TWO FULL SIZED self check outs while having only one employee run check out. I had to call a manager three times because it didn't work. So fewer jobs for locals who need work, higher prices and they are making us work scanning and bagging to buy their over priced food. It's not the store that's a problem, it's the packaged "sushi" they sell, from a company called Zenshi. When I walked into the store, I saw the sushi and stopped to look a bit closer. The prices were really, really low - about 1/2 the price of the sushi found at Whole Foods (Kikka brand) and also less than Smart & Final sushi which believe it or not, isn't bad. I looked at the ingredients and it was a long list of artificial ingredients - artificial colorings to make the fish resemble a pinkish reddish color that real, wild caught fish possess, artificial fillers, artificial flavors... it's basically a whole bunch of chemicals that our government is finally in the process of banning, with a side of questionable "fish". You definitely get what you pay for, it's so sad that people put this in their bodies - probably unknowingly. I hope things change. read more

She made me repeat my order three times, scan my app 5 times and I was just trying to pay with my app. I ask the other lady for help because I literally could not understand the first lady and she obviously couldn't understand me. The produce guys at this location need some training. I overheard an inappropriate conversation regarding crackheads. One of the produce guys walked right in front of me. I do love the selection on all items. Specially on their cheeses and artisan breads. However, this store could use more lighting. The isles are Too dark, I honestly prefer bright, light and dynamite. I don't like dim lighting while I shop. When I don't want to drive all the way to Laguna Niguel to Wholefoods, I can usually find most of the items here. read more

This store is small and has local charm, warm and welcoming employees and even a Ralph's boogie board by the cigarette stand. When there were smash and grab burglaries in Beverly Hills they had visible security and extra floor staff just in case. I find high end loss leader bargains in the meat and in the refrigerated alcoholic section that include fine Champagne. The sushi guy is there in the evening and checked out whether I needed help. Young and older people were there and the atmosphere was chill. I highly recommend this small town experience that the locals and tourists enjoy daily. Self checkout is horrid and the produce is junk, you are selling moldy produce, all the Italian parsley you are selling was flowered, then when I got it home it had bugs and larvae; tomato packages were also moldy; chives were rotten. Ralphs (Ocean Ranch location) is an ABSOLUTE nightmare. I stopped shopping there regularly a long time ago and today's experience cemented my decision. Crowded narrow aisles with tons of junky floor displays everywhere. Wildly unorganized bakery and deli areas, carts in the back of the store refilling cases blocked the whole dairy section. No central holiday section like several stores. Shelves are stocked so high that twice I had to go and find someone to reach an item. Check out experience in their new "cashierless" checkstands is completely ludicrous. Unload cart myself, scan groceries myself, bag the order myself and help myself to my car is WAY TOO MUCH WORK. Please also note that I never saw ONE employee anywhere except the overworked, disheveled employees at the two full service registers. Goodbye Ralph's read more

I'm so disappointed with our local Ralph's. First of the deli counter...plan on a good long wait before anyone even looks in your direction. I can't count how many times I've given up and walked away because who has that kind of time? Then just when you think you've got the store wired they move EVERYTHING around so you've got to go down every single isle to find a pack of brown gravy or a jar of olives. Then after you've given up on the deli counter and finally found your jar of olives you head to checkout... evidently they are Hell bent on making us check ourselves out even though we pay an outlandish price for a bag of groceries... they can't even offer us the courtesy of taking our money in person and giving us a little smile as they dig their hands so deeply into our pockets. If you want that courtesy you'll have to wait as they never have more than one or two cashiers on at any time anymore, no matter how long the lines are... nope, you will be forced to check yourself out and bag your own stuff if you want to make it to work on time... I've seen this store steadily decline over the years but now it has become a seriously unpleasant experience. read more

This place used to have it on lock just by being open in this town after 10 pm. I am absolutely shocked to have gone in here twice now after 10 and all they have is these useless "self checkout" stations open with NO CHECKERS. There's three staff on the floor if not more, but NO CHECKERS, to help you check out! Ridiculous! First of all if I'm shopping at 10, the last thing I want to do is check myself out. Second of all, I'm not your f'ing employee! I'm your customer! Unless I can deduct my normal hourly rate from my bill, it's not happening. I can't believe Ralph's is so gosh damn cheap they won't even pay for a single person to run a single register in these later hours. If this is the case, just close at 10. Good luck with the increased Theft you'll probably experience, and the droves of people who walk out of your store completely pissed off like myself and leave their groceries sitting in a cart to rot because you were too cheap to pay somebody by the hour to run a single register in the later hours before you close. Worst grocery store I've ever shopped at. Very poorly organized and managed. Tiny isles that are packed with displays making it even more difficult to navigate. Two isles in the produce section were taken up by equipment to repair refrigeration but no one working on it. This is the filthiest grocery store I can recall ever going to. The registers are dusty and filthy. I can't imagine what their back deli or meat department must look like. I've never tried the restrooms because I'm sure they're just as dirty. It's the closest grocery store to my house and sometimes I'll spend double and go to Gelson's to avoid this Ralph's. The floor is busted up concrete. It desperately needs a deep clean and when they can a full blown renovation. Touching the checkout screen is probably hazardous to your health. I doubt they even wipe them or the conveyor belts. Foe being in such a high end area I'm surprised. Wish there was a closer store other than Gelson's. Their Kroger bagged produce leaves a lot to be desired as well. Stick to the name brands. I hope corporate comes and does a surprise inspection of this store soon. read more

This is a very nice Ralph's. Something that makes it stand out is the beautiful cheese stand they have. The array of cheeses they carry will make any cheese lover drool. The works also seem well educated on the assortments and are happy to give suggestions. Since I like shopping late night, I like that they're open until midnight. read more

I much prefer giving good reviews to bad, but I've reached the point that I have to say something. I have been coming to this location for years. I find the people that work here to be great. The are nice and go out of their way to be helpful. However, shopping at this location is never fun because of the constant stocking that takes place. I get that items need to be stocked but what I object to is the constant carts, bins (of trash or food) and pallets left totally unattended in multiple aisles throughout the store. If items need to be stocked, have someone working on that area to completion instead of just leaving stuff everywhere so shoppers have to struggle not only to get throught the aisles, but....you know....have access to items they want to BUY. read more

During this Covid pandemic all businesses must work a bit harder to try and keep clean. Employees wear masks but I don't see anything else happening! I was there Saturday and the conveyor belt that I was putting my FOOD on was filthy- it was visibly marked with food juices- probably meat. My checkout guy couldn't of cared less- he was also pretty damm unfriendly. Please require your employees to wipe the conveyor belt and the customer checkout area where credit card goes.
