This is my first time visiting this Ralph's Store location. I went grocery shopping with Michelle a friend who lives with me in our house. We shopped here because my primary store Albertsons was out of stock on a lot of food items I needed. I bought 22 Food Products today with a savings of $22.40. I am also a Ralph's Club Card Member. This Discount Card saved me a lot of money today plus everything I bought today was on sale. My products included Snacks like Oreo Cookies, Pumpkin Muffins, Lemon White Chocolate Cookies, 2 packages of Sara Lee Bagels. Plain and Blueberry flavors. 2 Gallons of Breeze Almond Milk, 2 bags of Ruffle Potato Chips, and 8 different Chobani Flip Flavored Greek Yogurt's. Their SALE PRICES are 10 for $10.00. Their customer service was good. Lawrence the security guy was very friendly and helpful in talking to me about their Ralph's Items available in stock on their shelves. Also 2 men who worked in the Meat Department yonder me it's more cost effective for me to buy 3 Organic Beef in a packs of 3 for their sale of $20.00 than to buy one beef for $9.00. He was correct. The cashier I was serviced by Mia who's Asian she was nice. read more

My second favorite Ralph's in San Diego. Plenty of parking. It's across the street from stores, Pep Boys and a car wash place. They have a lot of stuff in stock, make sure you sign up for their rewards program to get discounts and perks. Store is a great size and always tidy. Customer service is great. read more

The level of customer service I experienced was COMPLETELY unacceptable and fell far short of my expectations. I went in at 11:30 pm for 2 items. Water and a birthday cake. Not 1 employee greeted me or asked if needed any help. But the old bald security guard made sure to follow my every move and mean mug me as he walked past me multiple times while I was checking out the cake selection. After I paid, he proceeded to run out of the store, yelling at me that I didn't pay for my items. I gladly showed him my receipt and thought it was crazy how nobody can help a customer, but they sure can judge one by their appearance. What a joke. I even had to use self checkout due to not 1 register being open. Does anybody actually work here ?? There are never enough people working at this store. There is only ever two checkers (if lucky.) I know the world is changing but it is not my job to bag my own groceries. Today I helped bag them and mid way through helping the cashier bag them, she pushed all my stuff to the end and began helping another customer leaving me to finish. I literally came here with enough time to spare and the lady working here at the door tells me that they close at 12:45. That's incorrect! yelp, and google both say that the store closes at one. Including the website. You can't implement times because you wanna go home early! Your just a security person who is just going to tell me the store closes at 12 45 am when its 1 am? .False advertising time when we all know its 1 am. this Chinese( i could be wrong) lady with long black and grey hair was the worst service i've ever experienced in my life and that says a lot. i can tell she is very racist from her looking at us the whole time like we were gonna steal, and you can tell she was thinking we were gonna steal. she wasn't even paying attention to others that needed help in the self checkout. then since she was so focused on us, not only that she took like 20 or more minutes to get everyone the help they needed including me and my family i was with, she had no clue in the world what to do that she had to call someone else to help finally. i've never had to do a bad review until now. how sad. read more

Wow - that's a lot of one star reviews. I was going to contact the regional manager, but it looks like they're already aware of the issues at this store. In my case, it was poor customer service from the Customer Service Manager (Norma?) and the Assistant Store Manager (Daniel). The store manager wasn't on site. Apparently, these two tags aren't the same deal, and you have to buy 5 of each. This tag was on about 25 products. I do see it (now) in the fine print, but as a customer, just make it easy for me and change the look of the tag?? Their management disagreed, defended and argued. It took them 20 minutes and 4 employees to figure it out, but they said it should have been obvious to me that they're different. I nor they knew which products were coke and which were pepsi, but that's apparently what split them into 2 groups. If someone had just said, "ya - I see what you're saying. Let me make an exception this time", then this would have been a 5 star review. Oh well, their paychecks are the same whether they're good at their jobs or not. read more

My husband went to Ralph's today to pick up some fried chicken from the deli today around 4:30 today.The worker that was behind the deli at the time had a cut finger and was tending to a woman in a wheelchair for 20 min when the client seen my husband and my son waiting for a while she told the worker to tend to them he was extremely rude and said no they can wait! A whole 20 min and he wanted to proceed to be rude. I get being helpful but for him to say that out loud in front of paying customers after 20 min is ridiculous. Then a bigger man came out who was missing teeth came out and instead of helping he proceeded to jump in and the conversation with cut finger and the woman in the wheelchair. He finally helped me and had an attitude when I asked about the deals he cut me off and stated if you would let me explain with an attitude mind you he had waited a whole 20 min before and then got treated poorly again. We have Ben coming to this Ralphs for just about 10 years. Completely disappointed. They need to take another course on customer service . One start is even giving to much read more

Bad reviews aren't my thing. I never understood leaving a scalding review for any businesses based off of a one time encounter. Everyone has bad days. The difference here is that some lazy employee who chose to roast shift and close the store decided they wanted to make it easier on themselves and be able to leave at exactly 1am, rather than remaining open until then and THEN have to close out everything. Some random cashier who said they're available to work closing, otherwise they wouldn't be scheduled for that shift, took it upon themselves to inconvenience 20+ customers by deciding to lock everyone out and lock the people already already inside in, and make the security guard unlock the door to let each of them out one by one so that they dont have to do their entire job. I just want to show my appreciation for the staff at this location. It feels nice to know that people like Travis work here. He's hard to miss because he's very tall and he is very good at his job. Very respectful and professional. When so many people are on their phones and distracted all the time its good to know there is someone directing these people so that I can get in and out of the store when I am in a rush. It's also a huge plus for the store since the turn over rate at the register is higher. Overall a great experience when I see Travis. He makes me feel like family when I am here. read more

Still on the hunt for holidays egg nog, found one left here for $5.99, small carton and without screw in lid, so I decided to wait, they did put a sign out saying sorry for the inconvenience and they will restock soon, I did find they have a full fridge of Lactaid ice cream, so I grabbed two flavors instead. Surprisingly they do have a public bathroom, supposedly with a passcode, but it was unlocked and super messy in there, I knew they were trying to prevent the homeless to get in, but I don't think they did read more

Try to go shopping here at 12:39 and the security guard at the door was like "NoPe, we don't let people in past 12:40" I said "I understand but somehow earlier I bought somethings and when making dinner tonight somehow the buns for hamburgers didn't make it in my bag." She replied with "doesn't matter I'm not letting you in" and I tried showing her the receipt and said I just need to replace these" needless to say she didn't let me in. College kids shop here not a big deal. The big deal is big Tr---is who has a threatening presence and tone with customers. At 9:30 he was waving a large cooking spoon gruffly motioning people to self check out like cattle. Then while checking out he was yelling while in close proximity to customers behind you, like he was doing security at a loud club. The final insult was him throwing the hand baskets from about 6 feet away causing them to slam to the ground and each other. This repeated action freaked the F**** out of me. About 4-5 of these very unnecessary but clearly communicated a threat. I kept looking over my shoulder waiting for something to hit me. Not ok under any circumstance. Management watch the camera 5/10 around 9:30....you have to be able to do better than this for customer service. No one should be treated like this, let alone customers. read more

Even though I am more of a "Von's Guy", I started coming to this Ralph's from time to time in the early days of the pandemic, because it opens very early and did not seem as crowded and hectic as other grocery stores at the time. It is located on El Cajon Boulevard right where Montezuma Road "angles in". Access and parking are easy. My current major reason for going to this this particular Ralph's [which is not so close to my home], is that they have a good selection of flowers as you enter the west door. The prices for the blossoms vary from reasonable to high. It is especially convenient for me when I am heading to Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery to visit my family and ancestors. I stop in at Ralph's first, pick up some colorful bouquets, and then head west on El Cajon Boulevard, south on 54thStreet, west on Federal Boulevard and south on 47th Street, and voila, you are at the cemetery gates with the flowers for your loved ones. The service at this Ralph's is usually pleasant and welcoming. However, there have been occasions where I have begun placing my items on the counter, and rather than begin ringing up my order, the cashier looks at me and walks away to start a conversion with another employee in another area. In fact, it happened again today. After loading my items on the counter, I turned and looked over at her and the other employee. Happily, after a moment or two, the person she was talking to [a manager?] came over to check me out and the other employee bagged. However, in my presence, they continued to "shop talk", with the manager exclaiming to her co-worker, "He is going to get fired!", which was a bit disconcerting for a customer to hear on an early Saturday morning of shopping. read more

This Ralph's closes at a different time each and every night. It's never at 1 am like advertised- it's anywhere from 10-20 minutes early. I needed cupcakes, would have been in and out and would have had everything wrapped up before their closing time. The employees are so rude about it as well. I understand working late can be frustrating and people want to go home, but please advertise the time the store actually closes!! It's really frustrating when I could have gone somewhere else to begin with. The security guard locked the door on me early right as I was about to walk in. He looked me right in the eye as he locked me out. I won't be back because it's been inconsistent multiple times. For such a large company you would think they'd have policies in place & not falsely advertise. read more

This location is terrible with the phone service. I called five times to see if they had baby formula in stock. Until the second time I got an answer, the lady said she'd transfer me, and I was just left there for 29 minutes. The other times they just hung up on me. If its busy, of course I'd understand, but just hanging up on people is rude. read more

i usually have a great experience here until today. there was a younger, bleach blonde girl with denim shorts as a cashier and she was blatantly rude to everyone but for some reason especially me. she cussed at me under her breath while counting my cash and then when i said i didnt want a receipt she said "okay whatever bye" ... like are you serious? you are speaking like that at your workplace? i get everyone has bad days but why make a paying customer feel awful? it was such an off putting experience and i am honestly avoiding this ralphs now because i dont want to interact with her again. really upsetting. read more

With respect to the Ralph's on Montezuma. The front end manager Norma is a born leader and worker at the same time. She is always doing "great". Andre the manager is very cordial and dutiful. I have worked places where upper management does not perform the duties of many of their employees, not here, I see Norma and Andre covering for workers who need breaks. I feel safe shopping at Ralph's and they send you coupons based on what you buy. There are so many faces of Ralph's employees that go through my mind that I only know by their face, and their hard work. These people provide a good place to shop. My daughter and I went to my neighborhood Ralphs today on Montezuma Rd to get a few items and have them fry some fish. She ordered Rock fish and I ordered some Swai, the butcher (shawn) weighed out fish and said he would fry it. We went to pay for the fish, did some shopping and came back for the fish. My daughter tried to give him the receipt but, he just ignored her and kept scrolling on his phone. He kept a scoul on his face like we did something to upset him. We chalked it up to him not having the best day...he packed our fried fish in tubs with foil on top. It is usually put in a bag with a sticker telling you what's inside. We asked how we were supposed to tell which fish we had Rock or Swai and he said "open it and find out" with so much attitude it was ridiculous. Then he said "my name is Shawn" like he knew he was rude and didn't care that we were going to complain. We wanted to let the manager know how rude this employee was being. We were told he would be talked to about it later. This was really uncalled for, If you're having a bad day, the customers don't have to know it. Keep that rudeness to yourself! read more

What a dump. They have like 4 employees total. Rarely are the shelves stocked. The lot is full of shopping carts. 99% of the time they have one register open and a mile long line. This place is absolutely awful. I went in today to pick up a couple things quickly. Unfortunately those things had been marked up sky high, unless you install the app, log in, confirm your email, enter a code, and pick a password with at least 12 various combinations of symbols, numbers and letters. After wasting 20 minutes doing all that, for a coupon that would reduce the price of the item I was buying to the normal price, I spent another 15 minutes waiting in the line for self checkout. At the checkout, it wouldn't take my coupons. Brian, pictured here, told me to wait a minute. I waited almost 5 minutes and then tried another machine. He came back, got in my face, and told me angrily that if I was "more patient" and "knew how to use a computer then maybe I could figure it out". It is crazy that an employee would say this to a customer when they were nicely asked for help. I'm an executive in charge of technology and software engineering, I probably know more about how computers work than anyone in that store. I'm also an MMA fighter. I assume he backed down once he saw my T-shirt that says "I'd rather be wrestling". I paid and then found the manager, who quickly gave me the value of the coupons in cash. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets complaints about this guy every 5 minutes. I live around the corner from this store, and can easily walk to it. Due to numerous bad experiences when I moved to the neighborhood, I've mostly taken my grocery shopping to Vons on College Ave. At Vons, the people are proud of their jobs and it genuinely feels like they want to do their best work. I came here today for what should have been a quick, five minute trip. I needed one item, so I went to self check out when I was ready. I clicked check out on the screen, and the card reader lit up with its usual blue lights and said, "insert card." So, I tapped my phone on the card reader for Apple Pay. On my phone, it clicked and made the usual sound that it makes when an Apple Pay payment is accepted. As is always the case (I say in a sarcastic tone...), the machine at self check out shorted out, and I got the dreaded message on the screen: please wait for assistance. The self check out monitor lady (I didn't catch her name) was off elsewhere, getting an item for a customer who had forgotten something in self check out. I don't think you're supposed to leave your station when you're the only one at the section; but I waited for her to get back. Thinking the system already accepted my payment, I had no choice but to wait. When she came back, she proceeded to help the same guest she was retrieving an item for for another 5-10 minutes. When she came over to me, she was immediately rude and clearly irritated. I told her what happened: I already paid with Apple Pay. She spoke to me condescendingly, "well, no, you didn't pay." I told her, "yes, my phone said the payment was accepted." Then she said my balance was still on the screen and I have to press the button on the kiosk that says I am ready to use my card, even though the card reader said clearly to insert my card. So I did Apple Pay again. It didn't work. She relished in it and said, in her same frustrated tone, "well maybe there isn't any money on your card." Of course there is money on my credit card... I came here for a quick in an out visit and I had a terrible experience with the blonde at self check out (around 4:30 PM 3/14/24). If this is how Ralphs trains their staff to do customer service, there is something seriously wrong here. The store itself is spotless and well organized. I usually enjoy shopping here because they have such a large selection of items. Now I'm going to think twice about using self check out here... it is not the faster option. read more

Absolutely LOVE this location. From the moment I walk in, I always feel welcomed and there is always someone asking if I need assistance. It's so nice to be in a store where employees care about their customers. Recently I ordered delivery for the first time. We are in temporary quarantine, while our tests for COVID are analyzed. It was so easy and wonderful to order our needs this way. Most of what we needed was available and the shopper kept in touch with me the entire time with text messages, so that I could choose a substitute or even add to the cart. It was awesome!! The veggies that were brought and dropped at my door step, are what I would have chosen myself. The whole process was flawless and easy. I'm sad to see this place only has 3 stars. Maybe because it's a grocery store people don't think to leave YELP reviews, BUT! This is the best grocery store. We have been coming here for over 10 years, my first grocery store in college and now again with my family. Today we found out that our favorite employee Dani is leaving :( she is one of the best and we are so sad to see her go. Without fail she would say hi to us and always make sure we had everything we needed. She's my daughter's favorite person and my daughter gets excited to go to the grocery store just to look for her! I hate this store. BUT they do have a better selection of Asian sauces and marinades than Vons. Was doing self checkout and the lady overseeing it kept asking me I had scanned each item. Like yes, you are clearly watching me scan them. I asked for Two cans of formula and she would not let me scan them myself and made me move so she could do it because apparently I couldnt be trusted. Went I'm on their ad for soft drink sodas and you know that SDSU is in session as the isles where completely wiped out! Not just soft drinks but beers as well. (Well the Party case packs).
