I couldn't tell you how many Sprouts we've been to throughout Northern and Southern California (it's a lot) but this one so far is my favourite. This location has a good sized parking lot, we never have issues finding a spot, the store has a good layout, this location is better stocked than other sprouts (I love that they have honest kitchen pet food cuz that's what we give our pets and also that they just started carrying pasture raised chicken), is nicely lit & clean, but what makes the biggest difference here is how noticeably friendly and kind the employees are. In the past we were checking out some freeze dried fruits and an employee came up and asked if we wanted to sample it. It's not like it was a bulk item - it was a sealed packaged product. We had already bought them before in a different brand so we didn't want to have him open it for us but I still thought that was really nice. Throughout the many times we've been to this location, we've always been met with genuine smiles and warm greetings. Today in particular as we were walking down the dairy aisle toward the eggs, there was a lady restocking the eggs and as I walked toward her she gave me such a warm smile. And then she chatted with us to let us know about the current wellness week sale and then helped us find the eggs we were looking for. She was super sweet. My husband and I both walked away saying how nice she was. Then we went to the supplement section to see if we needed anything because of the wellness week sale and an employee was walking the ends of the aisles asking if anyone needed help finding anything - but in a nice way not a pushy way. We went to checkout and I saw the name badges of the cashier and bagger. Jacob and Joe. Again, both just genuinely friendly. You can tell the difference between an employee who's just doing a job and doesn't care and asks you if you found everything okay vs someone in a good mood who actually seems to want to help if you weren't able to find everything you need. The vibe here feels like the manager is a super nice person and treats all the employees with kindness and respect while asking them to focus on customer service and because the manager treats them so well and created a safe/healthy work environment- it's a pleasure to work here. This is my neighborhood Sprouts and I'm here once, sometimes twice per day. Overall love it, shoutout to Rene and Gaby for always being friendly! The only reason this review isn't 5 stars is that when I come late (9:45pm ish / I know they are closing soon so I just pick up a few quick things and don't delay them) sometimes they start closing early and cover some of the items, making it harder to shop and therefore more of a delay. I understand staff wants to close on time, but this actually makes it harder for customers. Help me help you and please leave shopping available and easy until closing, 10PM! read more

Needed to pick up some items and since I was in the area, I decided to drop by. We were looking for some malted milk balls ( candy) that my husband usually enjoys but they didn't have them in stock. There was plenty of fresh produce and I liked how everything there was organized and clean. The staff that was in the area was really helpful and we appreciate his kindness. I was to cater lunch for a doctor's office with an attendance of 50 people. My colleague had suggested sprouts catering but mentioned that they needed a 48 hour notice. I went in and spoke with Haley, thanks to her and her manager I was able to place an order and pick it up in a 24 hour notice. So grateful! When I picked it up, I was greeted by Geneva and Sonia. Both were very pleasant and happy to ensure my expectations were exceeded! Definitely placing another catering order with them in the future. read more

I needed to grab some Theo bars and knew that Sprouts was one of the places that carried them. The ones I like are 85% cacao which is healthier then the ones that are lower. I also grabbed a bad of sweet potato chips which were very tasty, and some stevia. It's a good size store and laid out much differently then the one in University Heights. The workers seem friendly but I didn't speak to any of them since I did self checkout. This location has a diverse clientele which is nice to see. Good size parking lot too. read more

I've been going to this Sprouts for years, back when it was still called Boney's! They're located in Downtown La Mesa on Spring street. They have a huge parking lot so parking has never been an issue for me. The store is always well stocked and clean. They have a rewards program now too - so be sure to sign up! Everything has always been fresh and reasonably priced - fresh bread is always available which is a major plus for me. I've never had to wait in a long line, they're appropriately staffed and everyone is always friendly and helpful. read more

I really love this neighborhood market. They do their best to keep things stocked, and the older gentleman (edit: his name is Craig!) who brings around samples in a cart is so sweet. I really like the people that ring you up. Every time I go, I know I'm going to find fresh produce and meat, and they never disappoint with a selection of fun treats. Prices are reasonable for a higher end healthy grocery store, I'd rather go here than Whole Foods anyway. Sometimes all of their checkout lanes aren't always open during busy times but I still manage to get in and out at a good time. read more

Love this place as I can get fresh produce, meats, cheeses and more. Their muffins are too delicious even the pistachio!!! The wines are decently priced. The vitamins sections are well stocked and has pretty much anything one needs. Love their return policy if one doesn't like the cosmetics or it doesn't suit ones skin tone and it can be returned. Best when one has their recipe. Pretty much anything can be returned if ones not satisfied. The store is always clean. The staffs friendly. The lines move pretty quickly. They are definitely well staffed for the amount of customers. I enjoy shopping in the neighborhood! 12/22/2018 update.... Always find the spices I need in the amount I want because I get to pack my own!!! Ground Netmeg alone is about 6-7 bucks for a jar and all I needed was 1/2 tsp for my pumpkin bread and have more than enough for about 3 batches for 48cents!!! If we could, we would add a sixth star!!!! A friend and I were trying to get some sandwiches from our favorite place. This was our first time going to this location. We had a nice gentleman direct us to the hidden sandwich button where we met the sweetest sandwich man. After he took our order we decided to look for some fruit to go with our sandwiches. We went to the apples and noticed the "rave" apples and of course the natural thing to do was to dance. The worker in the aisle noticed and agreed that they were very rave worthy, and proceeded to slice open an apple, before our very eyes and give us each the most spectacular slice...definitely a party in your mouth. Soon after we were met with the sweet sandwich man again searching for us to give us our sandwiches as we were lost in the maze of endless possibilities that is Sprouts!!! The employees for the most part are friendly but I do not think they have the capacity to do pick up groceries in a timely fashion. The shopper STARTS at the time it was supposedly going to be ready for pick up. The turn around time is usually 6 hours or so. read more

My mom is a big Sprouts fan and always tells me about the great things that she goes to her local location specifically for. While I've lived very close to two separate locations over the past 10 years, I've never been one to frequent Sprouts. Well, Sprouts is decent. Not much to this place and to me it simply looks like a bit more of a rundown location in comparison to the Hillcrest store. That being said, though old, it's orderly, it's tidy, the staff is friendly, and the parking is fairly plentiful. The one thing is that the lines to checkout were a complete disaster and I wasn't able to tell who was in line, where the lines were snaking to, or how long the lines actually were. No fault of Sprouts when it comes to that one but maybe they could take a note or two from Northgate Market who I feel has mastered the Covid grocery lines. read more

This review is for the manager Deniesha and a worker Bashell (not sure how to spell their names). I came here and tried to buy groceries and herbal teas. I didn't bring extra cash on me because I don't think that's relevant to explain why. Whatever your stance is on EBT/paying with food stamps is your business. I had to pay a difference after she rang up all the items because EBT didn't cover all the items. I asked the worker if she could take off the items that were not covered with ebt because I didn't bring extra money. The manager Deniesha then condescendingly said "teas aren't a food." "ebt only covers food." Awkward silence... Do I work here? How would I know that? (I ask myself, not them). Then they both don't even say thank you, have a good day. None of that making it even more uncomfortable. As I walk out to exit, I turn around and these girls are laughing and looking at me. Made me feel extremely self conscious being a single mother who pays with EBT, as if it's a horrible thing and something to be ashamed about. I've been coming here for years. And to make things worse. I looked on the receipt and the ebt did cover some of the herbal teas it just depends on the brand. read more

Sprouts is one of my preferred choices for good but inexpensive produce in a good selection. Other places, like Albertsons, may offer a similar selection but are more (or much more) expensive. Sprouts is also pretty good when it comes to cheap snacks, etc. This was the first Sprouts I've ever visited, and did feel a bit cramped to me. I'd suggest to visit, especially in times of Covid, around the less-busy times. read more
