I had an extremely disappointing experience with Bryan on Tuesday, 07/07/26 at 6:30pm at the ALDI store in San Carlos. From the moment I got to the checkout area, his behavior was completely unprofessional and made what should have been a quick grocery trip very uncomfortable. I have never experienced customer service like this at an ALDI before, and it left me shocked by how customers were being treated. During my visit, he was yelling and using profanity loudly in front of customers, creating a hostile and unpleasant atmosphere throughout the checkout area. Instead of speaking to people respectfully, he seemed irritated and impatient, making everyone around him visibly uncomfortable. A grocery store should be a welcoming place for families and shoppers, not an environment where employees are shouting and cursing. What made the experience even worse was how he handled my groceries. Rather than placing my items into the cart with any care, he was tossing them in roughly as if they didn't matter. He handled my bag of grapes so carelessly that they spilled all over the floor, creating a mess that could have easily been avoided if he had taken just a few extra seconds to handle them properly. Not only was it frustrating to have my groceries treated that way, but it also delayed the checkout process and caused unnecessary inconvenience. Throughout the entire interaction, Bryan never appeared concerned about his behavior or the impact it had on customers. There was no apology for the way my groceries were handled or for the uncomfortable atmosphere he created. Instead, the experience left me feeling disrespected and disappointed by the lack of professionalism and basic courtesy. I expect employees to treat customers with respect and handle their purchases with reasonable care, regardless of how busy the store may be. Unfortunately, this experience fell far below those expectations. I sincerely hope ALDI management takes this feedback seriously, looks into the situation, and provides the appropriate coaching or corrective action so future customers don't have to go through a similar experience. Aldi is hands-down one of my favorite grocery stops! The food I purchase here is always fresh, and I can consistently count on them for my organic produce. I especially love their low-carb options, plus their oven-roasted turkey and seasoned chicken slices--no nitrates, no fillers, no artificial preservatives. Their frozen fruits and veggies are a staple in my kitchen. What I spend at Walmart for three bags, I walk out of Aldi with seven or eight--talk about stretching your grocery dollar! I've even found my shopping strategy: hit Aldi first, then Costco, and my budget is so much happier. The service here is always friendly, and the people are down-to-earth. The store ambiance is bright, open, and clean, which makes shopping even better. RUDE CASHIER ALERT!! There was no barcode on my zucchini so I pressed the help button at self-checkout. The cashier from about 2 sections away yells in my direction rudely asking me if I need help, expecting me to know that he was talking to me when I'm not even facing his direction. I proceed to explain the situation, then he asks me how much my zucchini weighs. I put it on the scale and I couldn't find the weight because it wasn't showing up on the checkout screen where I expected it to be. Still trying and feeling anxious about not knowing what to do in front of waiting customers, he comes over and aggressively points to where the weight is (on another screen). Then he walks away trying to make me look dumb by shaking his head and putting his hand up in the air in a "you should've known where to look" sort of way at self-check out. I understand that he was busy and they may have been understaffed at the time--and he may have been having a bad day, but this type of customer service isn't okay in my eyes. read more

I drove here to get some gift cards that Aldi was having a sale on. All of my friend's stores had it, but when I went here they didn't know anything about a gift card rack even though it was on Black Friday. Very nice employees but very frustrating to come to a store for something and they don't have it and there's no way to call in advance to find out. read more

This Aldi opened up while I was out of town on a long-term trip to Texas so I wasn't able to go to it until I got back to La Mesa. I love it! I'm going to really miss it when I go back to Amarillo where there is no Aldi. They have the best prices, a great selection, terrific produce, unique products, and did I mention great prices? They have the best eggnog! I compare it to Trader Joe's, Frazier farms, Sprouts and Vine Ripe, all of which I like but Aldi's has some of the best prices overall. Man I loooooovvvveeee ALDI! I'm so glad there is one near me. It's a little rough on customer service, and some of the people that shop here bring me to the edge of sanity with their pushiness and aggressiveness. But the prices and quality are insane and can't be beat. Period. If you think otherwise, prove it! I found this chain back East. It is really amazing. It's really different, and efficient. Know that before you go, it will be unlike other American shopping experiences. This isn't Walmart or Albertson's, keep that in mind and you'll be ok! Yes there is the quarter/cart thing. I was checking out the other night, waited my turn, had quite a bit in my cart, was loading it all on there and the cashier says "can he go in front of you?" She pointed to a guy behind me with like 4-5 items. Aldi shirt on. And I looked up and looked over at the self check out and said "but he can use those?" He got very annoyed and said "YOU could have used the self check out!" I said I have way too many items and it's open over there so what is going on?? He ended up being the manager of the store and didn't want to wait for a customer but must go in front of me. I told him "you're the manager and you feel it's best you go in front of the customer?? Instead of using the self check out?" He told me to hurry it up and get out! I had never been so appalled in my life. I called corporate and they called back and supposedly took a report. I went for my very first time to any ALDIs. When I walked in I honestly was taken back. It seemed sparse and reminded me slightly of a Grocery Outlet. We walked the entire store and there were some unique things we were excited about. There was one person doing check out and she was a bit grumpy. I have to say I like Aldi, other than a grumpy young lady using one of those push assist flat cart to move stock around, I was able to pick up some pretty good items at a fair and reasonable price. I picked up several items including pistachios, regular hummus, breakfast ham slices, chicken tamales, and cage free brown eggs. All the items were respectfully well priced, and some including the eggs were on sale. The store was well stocked with what they carry, clean, and well organized. I liked that the aisle are wide and that they carry a lot of the same item. The young man at the register was friendly and welcoming. read more

This ALDI's is extremely messy and disorganized. There were a billion macaroni boxes all over the floor and wet puddles dripping without any warning signs. I was sleep-deprived from my previous construction shift, so I'm glad I didn't slip on anything. It's clear the produce there is old as the frosting container I ordered had the wrapper peeking open. The cashier was relatively friendly and was fast with checking out the items. Would I come back here for groceries? Probably not as I'm going to fall on my back if I keep going there exhausted from construction labor. read more

The first thing I noticed about the store was the shopping cart attendant. The shopping carts are large and locked outside of the store. A cart attendant unlocks the cart for you to use. Now he inserted a coin, so I'm wondering if customers are going to have to rent shopping carts in the future. I surveyed a couple of articles about this on the WEB, and 25¢ is a common deposit for an Aldi cart. The second thing I noticed about this store, and some of you may or may not remember, is that the first aisleway is set up almost exactly like the Fresh & Easy store was in North Park. I always like the sort of set-up where when you walk in the door you have the fragrance of fresh fruits and vegetables to stimulate the appetite and the shopping experience. Aldi places fruit and produce to the left, and a lot of fruit to the right. Aroma. Nice touch. The third thing I noticed, is what customers and media relations always have to say about Aldi-that they offer almost the entirety of products under exclusive commitments from manufacturers. Essentially, I would say, they are the Aldi "brand", though the product names vary. I purchased a sample box of different products. The corn chips that resemble the famous brand out of Texas? I buy these just as readily as I would the other brand. The Willow toilet paper? I would not buy again, not a chance. I'm working my way through the other items that I purchased there and I'll update the review later. I think Aldi has a lot to offer. I see myself shopping at an Aldi infrequently, on party occasions, for the low price snacks. But whether due to the distance from my community, or the small selection (I like a BIG store, and lots of choices) I wouldn't shop Aldi as my primary grocer. But saying that doesn't mean that it isn't worth a great review. Aldi is a shopping experience for certain customer, and I think it's done very well. There's a lot of media attention on Aldi right now. Customers from other areas who have shopped loyally at ALDI locations champion the opening of the store on Lake Murray Boulevard. This is my go-to store that is walking distance from our house. Comparing this store with Albertsons is night and day with prices. Aldi offers great quality items at reasonable prices and every Wednesday they have specials on select items. There is a nice selection of everything you need from meats, bread, veggies, fruits, wine and beer. Their wine is $3 and honestly tastes delicious for that price point. I definitely will be coming here over Albertsons!!! read more

The location is on the small side, with that said it is very hit or miss if they get items in the ad. If they do get items in the ad it is often on box to two boxes. Occasionally they receive items weeks after they were advertised. This is not the same experience at other locations. For the most part the workers are nice and try to be helpful. I actually love this store but the staff and crew are void of personality and sometimes rude I stayed away for about 3 months hoping things would change, but no. Tonight I went in for a couple of things and noticed only one checker and a line of 7or 8 people. I took my time getting to the checkout hoping they would open at least one more register, but no. Now there were 12 people in line. I asked someone in produce to please open another line, which she did. I stayed in the original line and mentioned to the checker, who by the way, can see the 12 people clearly waiting from where she sits. When you see 10 + people waiting, why don't you ask for backup? She just rolled her eyes and handed me my receipt. Not a thank you or have a goodnight or I will let management know, Nothing. Well, I'll try again in about 3 more months. read more

Aldi is a good addition to our neighborhood! I like that Aldi location on Navajo has very wide aisles so it's easy to navigate around other shoppers. As most of you know, Aldi provides low prices for food, drink and supplies. Aldi is sort of like TJs but sort of not. Not widely know is that Aldi is owned by a German family. One side of the family owns TJs and the other side owns Aldi. The two large chains are totally separate from one another, but I find it funny that separate owners came from one German family! I'm happy that TJs and Aldi continue to improvise and expand. It's about time that stagnant chains (Albertsons, Ralphs, etc.) face dynamic competition which provides savings to shoppers! read more

What in the world! I've been to aldi's a few times and haven't had a problem til today!.. first I saw a bench and the guy said he'll have to at the front ready for checking out. So we walked around for 10 mins or so. Got to the register asked the lady how much these cute catus was. Got an attitude. She was slamming around the ladies stuff in front of me thought it was an accident. Then she started to scan my stuff and she's just tossing my stuff in the cart (really) then she rang me up for the wrong item. They didn't have the bench I'm the front. She gave me cash back to then charge me for the full price I thoughtit was weird she gave me cash back bc I used a credit card. Then the other employee that brought it to my car and repeatedly shoved in the back. When we got home it was and assembled it I saw a piece that has been dented and a stain. I don't live close enough to run back and return it! I won't be returning for a while read more

I love Aldi's prices and some of their products are delicious. This location is my favorite in our area but I had an issue when I did curbside pick up today. Not sure when this happened but kind of frustrating to waste milk, even if it only costs $3. I stopped doing curbside pickup from my local Albertsons because everytime I ordered milk from pick up, it spoiled within a day even if the expiration date was far out. Made me nervous that they weren't probably handling cold items. So I switched back to Aldi but am frustrated today. Maybe I am cursed with curbside milk pickup. I just got home and noticed milk leaking in the bottom of one of the bags. Then noticed the blue lid was popped off a bit and I instantly knew I had to dispose of it. While take the lid off to dump it down my sink, I noticed the plastic part of the bottle was bent as if it was dropped. Since Aldi doesn't allow you to call and talk with store associates and management, I'm turning to Yelp. I did request a refund for my $3 but I now don't have milk for my children because of this minor inconvenience. I know it wasn't my doing as all I did was grab my bags and take them in the house. Please, use care when handling our groceries! At times we are unable to shop at our own convenience and we trust the associates to provide us with the best experience possible. I'm disappointed and now questioning if curbside is even worth it. read more

One of my favorite stores! A nice little hidden gem of San Carlos. Is it your one stop shop? I don't think so. There's certain things you get here certain things you can only get at Walmart or Target. BUT that does not stop me from coming back! Workers are very friendly, the store is clean and tidy and the prices are low! Most amazing deals are on the produce. This week they had bags of asparagus for .79 cents!!!! I have never seen it so cheap. I got at least 2 pounds of bananas for $1, a 10 pound bag of potatoes for $1.95 and some salad kits for $2. Most stuff is their own brand and very cheap in price - which I don't mind. They have a wide selection of pretty much everything. Love their salmon, meal kits and taco meat and chicken! Most of the meat is cheaper than Walmart neighbor market which is where I usually shop. Don't miss out on this store and what it has to offer! Also don't forget to bring a quarter for the carts! 1st time here... I've heard good and bad things about this place. Prices are very reasonable. This store has more generic than brand products. So if your looking for more brand products this isn't the store. I saw a few brand products Kerry gold butter, ghiradelli brownie mix and jiffy corn bread mix. Other than that you see mostly generic brands for realistic prices. The produce was ok. We purchased strawberries, potatoes and peppers. The green peppers were good. But the strawberries were overly riped. The store is extremely clean, wide aisle and tidy. The signage and labels are clean and visible. read more

I like this store, it has all basic necessities needed for grocery pickup. I mean you don't get ALL your needs or possible wants from here but for my family I prefer to make this place my first stop for grocery basics then build from this visit. I don't feel I over pay on any of my produce but I do suggest making sure to throughly look over your items to make the selection that fits your needs. I feel the prices for meat products fits my budget and feeds my family of 5. Like I said this place has grocery basics to build from, it's also not overwhelming to compare brands. This location has set up self check out and things move fairly smoothly. This store is clean and most of the employees are friendly and helpful. Very budget friendly store, not too many organic products. Product selection is not great but you will find all your basics here. If you into European chocolates and cookies, you will definitely find a good variety there. It is almost a self- service store, not too many employees around, you just have to navigate your way thru the isles to find what you need, you bag your own groceries and you need a quarter to get a cart ( you will get it back after you return it). Very simple and clever system. I have no problem with that. One isle is dedicated to random household goods, and it varies weekly and the prices are below average. read more

Never got the chance to shop. I didn't have any loose change which is required if you want to use a shopping cart. The carts are locked up and it requires a quarter to get one and you will get it back if you return it. The stupidest thing I've ever seen! Apparently, they believe the neighborhood is rampant with homelessness and everyone wants to steal or use their carts. Maybe they should do a little more research in the areas they go in. As a result, I promptly turned around and went to Albertson's where they were more than happy to let me use a shopping cart for free.
