This place is the best!! We are from out of town and just googled a place to eat. We eat Thai food all the time and like to try new places when we are in new towns. This place did not disappoint! We had the Tiger Cry appetizer as well as their yellow curry and pad Thai. All of them were 10/10! We will be back the next time we're in Springfield! My mom and I decided on Rama Thai for dinner on our way through town and it was the best thai food I've had in years. Everything was made fresh and authentically. We recommend level 3 spice if you love spicy food. We got Tom Kha with rice, Wonton Soup, Steamed Potstickers, and Basil Fried Rice to share. It was all incredible. Huge portions. Lots of flavor. This is probably the best food I've ever had, and that is saying a lot. It's a super quaint two story home, with a patio. Big home feeling and a huge menu, the nicest staff, and just jaw dropping food. We asked for suggestions and they didn't disappoint. My husband got the swimming angels, which was OFF THE CHARTS, and I got the fresh bas with shrimp. I wouldn't even mind driving from Joplin, to eat here. AMAZING read more

Having heard so much about this place and with the restaurant/house look, this place was on the top of my list. A super casual place, it's literally like someone turned a house into a restaurant. The service is decent and the food is good. The crispy egg rolls are pretty tasty and I had to ask for more. The dip that came with the egg roll was the perfect pair for it. Mixed vegetables was a good plate of food with lots of veggies and very tasty sauce. My boyfriend didn't like the Rama Thai dish too much. He took pork with peanut sauce and said the peanut sauce wasn't good at all and the pork not cooked too well. He loved the side soup that came with it. The servers are always in a hurry and hardly pay any attention to you. They ended up getting us a wrong dish because of a miscommunication between them. They could definitely work on that and also the place could be a little cleaner. I would definitely go back to try more of the options they have! read more

Great tasting food with a diverse selection. Staff was friendly, helpful, and on it despite being busy at lunch rush. The restaurant was clean and parking was simple. We got favorite dishes including: chicken satay, spring rolls, crab rangoon, green curry, crab fried rice, pad woseen, and drunken noodles. I've had lunch here twice. Can't get enough. The food is great, but it is usually busy, so I get there a little early. Even so, the service is excellent and they look after the table (usually up to 6 of us) with care. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The back yard area is tree covered, and seems too romantic for a business meal, but it's quiet enough for a discussion over lunch. There are a number of lunch specials - but the Rama Thai is the best. I've seen just about all of the meals, as we try to mix it up to see what's available the next time we come here. I had the Chicken Satay last time and it was great. And the curries look great (and I am told are absolutely flavorful). Next week. ;o) Prices are reasonable at $9 plus drink and tip (college kids so tip is expensive! :o) ) but you know how it is. This is a 'go to' place and never disapointed...well maybe if I get there too late! read more

I've ordered veggie pad Thai here 3 times for lunch. The lunch special comes with a soup, salad and 2 crab Rangoon's. The Rangoon's are the best I've had anywhere in the country. The pad Thai is full of carrots, green beans, broccoli, onions, eggs, sprouts and zucchini. The spice level is 1-4 and 3 was formidable... and I can tolerate spice. 2 is my sweet spot and it's AMAZING. Their Thai Tea is refreshing. The service is over the top friendly and courteous. Ever eaten at a restaurant and couldn't forget how rude the server was? This is what happened to us. Our server (owner's spouse) was obnoxious, irreverent, and had zero social grace. He was rude from the beginning. Just an ass. My husband asked him about the soup and salad that used to come with the meals. He said ,"covid put a stop to that. We're just as busy, so why give out free food?". The arrogance of this man was palpable. Our meal was just ok. Nothing to make your socks roll up and down. I doubt we'll be back. I actually used to work here before the pandemic but it has certainly gone down hill since I worked there. Today, I went to the store for lunch. I told the server that my food was bland because all I could taste was coconut milk and chili flakes in my curry noodle. There was not enough curry in the dish. When I went to check out, the server basically said,'What do you want me to do about it?' I only ate like 25% of my entire meal. I spent $10 on a lunch I hardly ate. When I left, the server said,'I hope it's better next time... if you every come back.' On top of the meal, there were flies everywhere. Basically all I am qualified to review here is the Kai Tod Rama, which is a wonderful dish of absurd value. For years my girlfriend and I have split it with an order of fresh spring rolls and we still leave with leftovers. The peanut sauce is a simple variation on the recipe, and the chicken is pounded and lightly breaded, just perfect. They hearten it up with some carrots, cucumbers, and, of course, sticky rice. I also enjoy the appetizer called Golden Bag, which is a fried wanton wrapper filled with mashed potato and tied with seaweed. The place is quite popular, and they recently began taking reservations. It's a cute place and the staff is friendly but the quality of our food was so poor I must give it one star to warn others! We ordered the Tom Kha Soup and yellow curry. My gf said the curry was just average. The Tom Kha was NOTHING like past reviews, it did not contain any of the colourful veggies from past pics. The soup was extremely watery and it should not be. Hands down worst Tom Kha I've ever had! If you're coming here for soup don't! I'm sure the other food must be good considering all the amazing ratings. This is an amazing hole in the wall restaurant that is some of the yummiest Asian food around the area. It's on historical walnut st in an old house in the middle of houses from the turn of the century. It was peak time on a Saturday, so I'm sure they were just running behind. If the wait is better next time, I will call that a fluke, and raise my rating. THEE best Thai in Springfield! The service is always phenomenal - they're beyond friendly, patient when you have questions, quick, and always smiling. I never have to ask for a refill, they are on top of it. Love love love Rama Thai! Parking can be a massive pain if there's a Cardinals game or big school event, just be prepared to search for awhile. The patio is also great for summer months! EDIT : although I absolutely love this place, I have to give Them a lower rating. After frequenting year round, I've started to not go here unless the weather has been mild. It is BLAZING hot in the summer (even after sunset) and freezing cold in the winter. I'm sure they have a heating and cooling, but they sure keep it to the minimum. Last time I was here we left after a few minutes. I told the server it was extremely hot, and there's no reason to be THAT uncomfortable when dining out. She just smiled and said okay and went about her business. I also know I'm not the first to speak with them about this - it's clear they won't change it. My favorite Thai restaurant in Springfield. I have eaten here many times, taken guests, and always am happy with the food, service, and value received. If I was forced to give some type of feedback, I would only say that their spiciness level varies from one cook to another. I've started requesting a 1 and adding more as I feel appropriate. I have had level 2 that is perfect, and level 2 that I literally could not eat due to burning eyes and running nose, so I have found a work around by sticking with level 1 and adjusting if I feel I want more heat. (Just today, I overheard a gentleman at the next table requested level 3, and the waitress confirmed that he realized that their rating system is only four levels, so she was careful about confirming if they suspect someone is ordering more than they might end up wanting.) I highly recommend Rama Thai. read more
