Undergoing renovations but rooms that are completed are nice, especially for the price. The location is conveniently next to I-75.

Cons: 1)Did my own, online check-in and checkout which seemed like a lot of work for me. I still had to go to the desk and show my id. 2)Receptionist was not helpful. I called the desk to ask about no hangers. She just said she didn't know and called me sweetheart. 3)Lighting in all fixtures was almost flourescent blue colored. 4)Very low water pressure in bathroom sink. 5)No hangers in closet. 6)No dishes, towels, or dish soap in the kitchenette. 7)Beds were very uncomfortable. My mattress leaned towards the edge. 8)The bedroom had no window and felt cave-like.

I couldn't have been more wrong -- this place was great. The room was spacious and scrupulously clean, and surprisingly well-furnished. A sitting area had a couch and coffee table, there was a good-sized desk for working. The bed was comfortable, the towels were large and fluffy, the toiletries were nice. The AC was more than sufficient. The staff were welcoming and friendly, the pool was gorgeous. So okay, the location was rather industrial, but who cares? You wouldn't be spending much time there, right? And the price, for all that you got, was amazingly reasonable. Oh, and the free breakfast wasn't fancy, but it was perfectly functional. I highly recommend this place!

First Impressions of the Hotel…read more I've just arrived at the hotel for a business trip, and I must say the first impressions are mostly positive. The hotel has a charming exterior and an interior with a vintage vibe, but in a good way. It's got character. Upon arrival, the receptionist was friendly and helpful, which always makes a great first impression. The parking situation was a bit tricky, though. There is limited parking on-site, but they do have an overflow lot not far away, which is convenient, but still something to keep in mind. The room itself is spacious and adequate. It includes a nice balcony, a TV, and a desk for work. However, there was no refrigerator, which I found a bit inconvenient. Also, there was a slight odd smell in the room, but it wasn't overpowering or unpleasant--just a bit of an odd first impression. One of the highlights of the stay is the complimentary breakfast, which is always a nice touch. But I do have to mention a one thing. There was a small bench at the foot of the bed that I didn't notice was possibly damaged. When I sat down, I unexpectedly sank into it, which was a bit of a surprise. All in all, the hotel meets my needs for this trip. It's got some character and charm, but there are a few areas that could use some improvement.

Under normal circumstances, this room is typically much cheaper, but we had limited options. We checked out a day early, came home and decided to commute back and forth to the tournament for the following reasons: A. The fact that they made me wait over an hour to check in with 2 kids because they couldn't figure out their reservation system? Other people however were able to check in with no problem during my wait. B. The odor of cigarettes was not masked well by the cheap air freshener in our non smoking room. C. When I tried to ask a question about the check in issues,'Tiffany' (I can't be sure since she wasn't wearing a nametag), snapped at me "Do you want to give me a minute?!?" I also offered to go eat and come back while they sorted it out, and gave 'Tiffany' my cell number to call when the room was ready. 35 minutes later I was tired of waiting and returned to find out the successfully checked me in. I asked why she didn't call and told me she tried twice. I asked what number she called and with major attitude she said "the one you gave me". I asked again and ultimately found out that she wrote my number down incorrectly. Rather than apologize, she suggested that I told her the wrong number. As if I don't know my own phone number. D. The carpets in the room were so dirty that they turned the bottoms of our feet and socks black. E. I found bed bugs at 3 AM. (See video and picture) https://youtube.com/shorts/1_wzqtttHIo?feature=share F. I have tried to contact the property GM 3 times and gotten no response. I reached out to corporate (Choice Hotels) and they say that it must be dealt with at the local level, but they offered me 10k rewards points. When I protested they upped the offer to 20k. I can promise you that I will never stay at another Choice Hotels property, so no need for points. Lastly, (AND I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS MAY BE PURELY COINCIDENTAL), since we left the Quality Inn my wife has had sharp, piercing headaches daily. Again, may be coincidence. She has a doctors appointment Monday. Fingers crossed.

Being able to walk past the pool to the Riverwalk and sit on the bench while drinking my coffee in the breeze was lovely. However, see the dolphins swim by you in the river ( YES Dolphins!!!) made this place even better. Based on the amount of locals watching and walking by, this is a daily thing. Ok, back to the hotel. There is plenty of parking. When you go in, there is the kindest staff waiting to greet you with a smile. This means a lot. They also have water available which is a nice touch. The restaurant serves Starbucks coffee and some items for breakfast for purchase and dinner too. I just got coffee and an afternoon beverage to enjoy by the pool. The pool is right out back and has lots of seating. There is also a hot tub. The hotel has 5 floors. Our king room was a nice size with plenty of bathroom space. It also included a couch as well as a desk, which was great since I was working from the hotel. The air conditioner worked very well. The room also had a small patio so I was able to open the door and get some nice fresh air. The humidity was kind of high so I didn't keep the door open often. The only small issue was there is a train that goes across the river and it blew its horn pretty early in the AM. Not the end of the world and kind of cool to watch the tracks go down for the train and then up so boats can pass. There is one restaurant across the street which had decent food. We didn't walk to the downtown via the Riverwalk, but you can and it's about an15 minute walk.

They are wonderful, caring people. ( This is the reason we return every year) The issue is the lady ( she has been here the last 3 years). She is extremely rude to people at the pool. We have listened to so many guests having issues with her. I was extremely embarrassed how she talked to our guest that was staying with us. We had been sitting around a table at the pool. We had a small snack (cheese and crackers) in front of us and she pointed to it and said "the sign says no food or drink on the pool deck" but she only said it to us. There were at least 20 other people at the pool, with thermal cups with their drinks in them. The sign actually states "no food or drink on the wet deck". The wet deck is the ledge around the edge of the pool, not the patio or tables. ( google wet deck) If they don't want food in the fenced in area the signage needs to be corrected. She then told our friend that it was windy and he needs to hold the umbrella so it doesn't blow out of the stand. The other 2 tables had people sitting at them with their umbrellas up and she said nothing to them. After she left, several guest spoke up about how rude she was.

Some of the items left look mismatched. I also had to purchase dish and hand soap at Family Dollar because none was provided by management. The community resort amenities are really nice as well, they have a very nice clubhouse, BBQ grills, 2 pools and grounds. I definitely recommend Shorewalk Vacation Villas if your looking for vacation rental in Bradenton.
