Stayed here for two nights, picking this place as it was the least expensive of the "higher end" hotels I was looking at. Very glad we stayed... Our las trip to Sarasota included a somewhat less-than-pleasant stay at an economy motel. I promised myself I would find something better - and luckily I did. Hotel Indigo is still a bit pricey, but as the saying goes - you get what you pay for, and in the case of this locale - you get a lot. The building looks very nice from the outside, there's plenty of free parking (a plus in my book) to be had, and you are greeted by a beautiful lobby, well furnished and staff that are friendly and accommodating from the moment we walked in. I will admit, we had some hiccups - I reserved a King Bed Room, non-smoking, and all they had to offer was a room with two Queen's - no big deal. I had the devil-of-a-time trying to get their small cappuccino machine in the room to work. They had someone come to the room and show me how to function it. Our keys stopped working after just a few hours - no problem, the front desk fixed it right away. I mention these as examples of the exemplary customer service we received - a breath of fresh air that I truly enjoyed. The rooms are very chicly furnished - you can get yourself complimentary water from a machine that offers not only cold water but hot, ambient, and sparkling - this was a treat. Checking was fast and easy, and checking out is as simple as dropping off your room cards at the front desk - no fuss. You really can't ask for more. We will be back to Sarasota in a month's time - this will be the place we stay without any hesitation, but certainly with a "reservation". read more

Easy parking, great location and I believe they will get better, just not there yet. I am disappointed I booked this hotel for a week during their growing pains. The other patrons and staff at the bar in the evenings commiserated as well about their experiences. I ran into a wonderful man, Hudson from Brazil, who is the project manager for the hotel and was observed working on finishing touches this week and working hard. Email me if you have any questions as I share the following review: At Check in - was not told about amenities or reward points system. MANAGEMENT has been scurrying about this week, agitated and trying to figure things out during the new ownership. The growing pains of transferring ownership are apparent and transferred to the hotel clients. Here are examples: SUSTAINABILITY: Every floor has a room with an ice machine, microwave and water/seltzer dispenser at the vending room temperature is 20 degrees hotter than the hallways. Every room has glass water bottles which you have to refill. I wonder how they clean these bottles? The neck is pretty tight. Great concept although not sure how sanitary. The front office manager screamed or spoke in a high tone to the staff looking for receipts - save it for a time when customers aren't around. OR talk softly to your staff in your office. BAR area: The POS System at the bar... not working & Limited wine selection. Evening lighting in the restaurant bar area - doesn't need to be full force. They preach energy efficiency and sustainability but don't practice it. Dim the lights! BILLING: Destination fees: not explained at the front desk, even if you dont use the shuttle, or the medites, you are charged AMENITIES: wading pool was closed, outside seating area was not accessible, the shuttle is by appointment (if you know about it), and the gym .. well just average hotel equipment. COFFEE: Is this coffee discrimination? not served or available in the lobby. They offer tea for free but you have to pay for coffee. The practice is inconsistent...One day, you get coffee in the lobby, one day in the staff office, one day the restaurant gives you a cup... and then suddenly you have to pay for it using a coffee machine located in the little shop. Staff aren't sure, and I asked and received different responses. Day 5 - they just started offering coffee in the lobby area, for a photo shoot only. Day 6 - you have to pay although if you are a Delta Airline worker, you get coffee for free. The restaurant response "let me look for some cups" one day. IN ROOM EXPERIENCE: The Mixpresso machines in room don't work 100% of the time, and pods are espresso pods. They have cute sipping cups which is all you get from the machine - a few sips worth. The clothes steamer works well in the room, the hair dryers are old and two died on me this week, the decorations are modern with wood like flooring. You don't get extra comforters, just the sheets and a blanket. Bathrooms are spacious. Bed is comfortable. Air conditioner / fan is loud. The rooms are vinyls wood and lift easily - they need to use better glue. They have carpet runners on both sides of the bed and weren't glued down straight, great concept, but when yo try to straighten them, the wood flooring comes undone. FRONT DESK STAFF: staff are not empowered, the response of "I don't know, I am new here, the staff called out and I cannot leave the front desk, or we don't have a shower cap or extra coffee pods or extra blankets", are just not customer service. On weekend the staff had her son playing on the computer at the desk. Adopt a "Get to Yes" culture here. HOUSEKEEPING staff: they apparently have two different groups, one that gathers towels and wipes down the room, and one that replenishes? The first few nights I did not get replenishment of cups or coffee pods, and was told that is not what I do. read more

We loved this hotel, the perfect place for a getaway weekend as it is close to everything and the room was incredible with one of the most comfortable beds. Everything is close by from the main street to St. Armand circle. The staff was very helpful and made checking in so easy and efficient. We will be back for another little get away. read more

Spire Elite Member here and this was recommended within the IHG app when I was searching the area. We had two rooms booked but to our surprise were on opposite sides of the hotel for some reason. Ok so here's the meat of the issue I had. We showed up and checked in ( no issue there ) the room looked super clean and tidy. The shower is massive But u need to stand in a certain location to utilize its tiny shower head ( strange imo ) but I guess it works. The worst part of my stay was the absolutely horrible bed. It's like laying on the floor hard. I literally was only able to lay down for 20 minutes before I couldn't take it anymore and spent the entire night sleeping in the dang chair. For $230 for the night I would really hope to enjoy the bed but that isn't the case here. That mistake won't happen again trust me. We utilized the bar last night and the food was decent for where we were. The bartender was friendly as well. We called and made a reservation for one night stay. We were told they only had a junior suit which was supposed to be a deluxe room. When we arrived around 4:00PM there was no bellman to assist us. The Front Desk Service Man got us a cart and DID assist us in getting our luggage into the hotel. The room was rather small, The "closet" was a series of pegs to hang things on and the closet rod was maybe 2' long. Very little shelf space or staging area. There were two, empty water bottles that I had to go out in the hall to find the dispenser to fill the bottles. The bathroom was adequate with soap & shampoo conveniently located in the shower area. Our room fee had been prepaid at the time the reservations were made. at registration I was asked for a credit card to be used for any incidentals. I soon saw that a $25 charge had been added to my card and then I saw a second small additional charge. I inquired as to what this was for and was told it was it was a "CONVENIENCE" fee for the parking, etc. I had to park the car myself in an outdoor space. At the time I had to leave the facility and I had to get a luggage cart and pack the car my self. I called back to complain about the "CONVENIENCE" charge and was told the manager would call me the next day. I never heard from him. My opinion is it is over rated and poorly managed. The extra charge is a scam as it should be in the quoted price, not an add on. read more

Since COVID has many of us staying put, I, unfortunately, had to cancel a trip to Mexico this summer that I'd been planning for some time. Thankfully I was able to head down to the lovely beaches of Sarasota and use my imagination. When I wasn't soaking up the sun or grabbing vegan takeout from a local spot and I was relishing in the gorgeous bathroom or sleeping like a princess in my fabulous suite at Hotel Indigo. I was fortunate enough to have my room upgraded to a suite by the kind manager who checked me in. I thought that was really sweet of him! The bed was so comfy that I could truly still be lying in it today if I didn't have other obligations. The pools are teeny, each about the size of a hot tub, so don't think you'll be swimming laps out there. (As I said, the beach isn't far so just go there if that's what you're looking for.) On the other hand, it's a nice area to go sit and read a book or just get outside for some fresh air. A couple small downsides: the restaurant in the hotel is closed out of an abundance of caution because, well, the pandemic. As a result, there isn't any food within walking distance that's available most times of the day. There's a breakfast spot, but it closes at 2 pm and there's a vegan spot (tried it and it wasn't bad) but not everyone is vegan and it's hard to get to in a car with all the construction right now and I wouldn't dare walk there. Also, while the shower is luxurious, the way the glass and showerhead are positioned was a little awkward to me. It's a sizable shower with no door and to avoid the cool draft while in your hot shower you're essentially confined to a corner. Didn't love that, but it's not the end of the world. Compared to nearby stays, this was a great value option in plenty of proximity to wherever you need to go on the beach. I'd definitely go back. read more

This entire hotel has showers only, no tubs in any of the bathrooms. In my room, both beds had very uncomfortable, worn-out, sagging mattresses, but others in my group had much better/more comfortable beds in their rooms so I guess it varies. The TV was a lot smaller, older, and lower-resolution than I was expecting or had seen in a hotel in the last decade (LCD, but not HD!). There's not really a pool, it's actually just a small hot tub and a slightly-less-hot tub in a tiny courtyard. The restaurant takes up nearly all the lobby space while not actually being open for much of the day. And the website says breakfast starts at 6:30am, a sign in the lobby says breakfast starts at 7am, but they weren't actually ready to serve breakfast until close to 7:30. One of the two elevators was out of order for a couple days. There's a water bottle filling station in the lobby which is good because the tap water doesn't taste great. The location is pretty good, close to restaurants and grocery stores. Overall this hotel was fine, but not great, and I'd probably try somewhere else next time. read more

Had a slight problem at beginning but Gabriel was right on it and maintenance was right on it as well next day. Very cool courtyard with a hot dipping pool and cool dipping pool. Very inviting and cozy. It's summer so pricing was affordable. Probably could never afford during season. Thanks to the wonderful staff Gabriel was fun to talk with. Thanks for the umbrella loan. We stayed for a quick two days on February 21st 22, 2022. The hotel was easy to get to and located centrally to everything. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. The cleaning crew never came until the late afternoon when we were back to the room, so we just asked for some more coffee and towels. The room was beautiful and extremely spacious. The only thing that could be improved was the color of the grout that seemed dirty. The staff was friendly and helpful. There are many amenities at this hotel. We would stay here again, highly recommended in the area. The only downside to being such a central location was the excessive amount of construction in the whole city as hotels are being erected all around which makes traffic crazy and lots of noise if your AC is off. read more

The quality of this poorly run boutique hotel has decreased alarmingly in the year since my last stay. This time, I was upgraded to a suite after the drunks in the next room kept me up all night. The bathroom of the new room was semi clean, but I was too exhausted to complain about the used soap bar on the counter or the piece of grilled chicken wrapped in tissue and left in the wastebasket. The noisy AC ended any hope of peace and quiet. Once a destination for my family on our Sarasota excursions, I'm finished with this place. Really. read more

I don't know, we've stayed at the Jacksonville Indigo...can't say they're much different. Therein I believe is the "rub" for us. Staff is helpful, accommodating and speaks the Queens English. It's the layers that bug me. For instance, who doesn't check the bed? We flopped down on the attractively pillowed and clean bed only to find it felt like one of those Big Lots $99 beds. BUT beside the bed was note saying essentially they would provide a mattress topper and even throw in eye mask or a white noise machine upon request...YES, we request! Next we found a wad of human hair lying smack dab in the middle of an end table! We debated, someone said Hyatt! and we both nodded...picked it up and flushed. Ewwww is all I can say. At the end of the day, it's a mixed bag but for $200 a night I'd EXPECT a pillow top mattress and maybe balding staff! read more

The hotel itself is very nice and the room was extremely comfortable. The hotel manager, Shannon May was extremely rude and aggressive when I voiced a complaint about a rude server in the hotel café. I can excuse the rude server in the café, because she is merely an employee. But, for management to be so rude, arrogant, not listening, and unapologetic is unforgivable. She, Shannon Mae, argued with me about the incident that I had in the café. I had to call her back to get an apology, she never made an attempt to apologize for the incident, nor did she make an attempt to call me on my phone and apologize for the incident in the café. My parents have been using hotel, indigo, and Sarasota, Florida for the past 10 years or more. They have gone through more than one management change there. that was the reason we chose to stay at this hotel. I have never been treated with such rude and offensive and uncaring behavior from anyone anywhere. I am hopeful that this review will be read, and she will be placed in another position, because she certainly does not belong in management. read more

This is my favorite hotel in Sarasota, Fl...it's close to downtown, it's an upscale hotel, not big in a residential area but you can walk to almost anything.. close to the Marina, in a very private area. The rooms are great. You can bring your pet ( for a fee ) and they have a restaurant and bar... the best part is the private Jacuzzi and cold small pool on the side where you can also have a snack if you bring one..it's cozy...or you can go to the nearby beach, just a few minutes away at Lido Beach. the staff is very friendly and remembers your name, you can get snacks in the lobby and they give you a pitcher for all the water you want.they even have doggie treats!.. love to return to this place in one of my favorite cities!.. read more

Loved this hotel. Seemed pretty new, and just a few blocks from the cute little downtown area and farmer's market. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Shower was huge and open. Parking was not included, but only $10/day. The fitness center was decent and the pool/hot tub area was interesting - two little rectangles. Good spot if you want to be close to downtown and close to beaches, but at a decent hotel! Staff were all friendly too - I stepped out of the elevator with the luggage cart and someone walked up to wheel it away for me, and another time asked if I was looking for something (I was - the fitness center). Let me start by staying, I like nice people. When I checked in, I was checked-in by Esther, and she was SO nice. She explained everything about the hotel, and I saw her a couple times during my stay - each time she was so friendly and I appreciate that. The exterior, front and back, of this hotel is beautiful. And, the lobby is amazing (I forgot to take pics of the lobby). On to my review. It is a VERY rare day when I am willing to spend over $200.00 a night on a hotel room (I'm a cheap-but-clean-hotel kind of a girl); but, I had my reasons for staying here. First, I have always wanted to stay in an Indigo (I love their "green" policy). Second, I was attending a concert at the Van Wezel Concert Hall and it was literally steps from the hotel (just cross US-41, super-convenient). I decided I would spring for this hotel. I was NOT disappointed. The location is wonderful. Just a couple blocks (4 maybe) away is the charming downtown area of Sarasota. If you are attending something at the Opera House (a few blocks away) or the Van Wezel (directly across the street), you are within walking distance. A gorgeous bay view is right across the street. The parking for the hotel is $10 a day, but worth it. There are several spaces right outside the front door, and there is a garage right there too. $10 for any downtown location isn't bad (I prefer free, but that's just me). My room had 2 queens; the beds were very comfortable, clean and luxurious. There is no carpeting (YAY!), it's all tiled flooring (LOVE that!). There are 2 area rugs, by the entrance and by the beds. The room was spacious, and I loved the décor. The furnishings are very nice, white and bright. There's a desk, a spacious armoire, a chest that holds the TV, and a work desk. There is also a comfy chair to sit in. In the foyer, there's a little table to hold a coffee pot and a carafe of water that you can get from a filtered water station in the lobby. The bathroom is beyond description; I loved it. VERY big shower with glass walls and a wooden bench in it. The bathroom was spotless, as was the rest of the room. They provide high-end products from Aveda in the bathroom. There was no frig or microwave, but there is a safe in the room (I didn't use it). I LOVE it that there was a little recycle bin my suite. I try and pick hotels that are eco-friendly, so that is very much appreciated by me. Also, the filtered water station in the lobby - that's SO much better to fill up your water bottle and not have to keep using more plastic water bottles. In my suite, there were also 2 coffee mugs so when I made coffee, I didn't have to use throw-away cups. There is no free breakfast (unless your rate specifically states there is). There's a full-service restaurant and bar in the lobby. There is a breakfast buffet, but I think it was around $15 - not sure. I would never spend $15 on breakfast, so I walked less than a block to the Toasted Mango and had a fantastic breakfast (go out of the hotel to the right, walk left on US-41 and you are there). Like I said, I was hesitant to pay so much for a hotel room. But, this is a boutique hotel that was fantastic, AND, it was the expensive season (January, 2018) to be visiting Sarasota. Also, for a downtown location such as this, the rate really wasn't all that bad. I will say that the hotel is definitely worth the pricetag. If I had to complain about one thing, it would be the acoustics of the hotel. When you get off the elevator, there is a sign that says "Quiet Zone" - I liked that! However, I was in room 225 and at midnight, the room next door was playing music loud - and I could hear it through the walls. I did NOT call and complain about it; but, I'm sure if I had, the hotel would have asked them to turn it down (it didn't go on for too long). Then, at 8:30 a.m., housekeeping or some other hotel staff was doing something in the room across the hall and they were talking loud outside my door - I could hear it through the door. I was already up, but for a late sleeper, it would have been annoying. If other guests (and hotel staff) would be respectful of the "Quiet Zone", that wouldn't have been an issue. Despite that one thing, I would most definitely stay here again, in fact, I am looking forward to it! read more

This IHG hotel is the best that I've ever stayed in. I do a lot of traveling for my job and have stayed in a lot of different hotels (especially IHG brand) and this one is by far my favorite. The decor and atmosphere of this hotel is wonderful and the staff was extremely friendly. My room was so cozy and I wanted to stay an extra night just because I loved it so much. They did a really good job decorating the rooms and there's also a HUGE shower. They use Aveda products for their shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc (which is definitely a plus). The only reason I'm giving this location a 4/5 stars is because the walls are paper thin and you literally hear everything. I called the front desk to complain (which I typically try to avoid this at all costs) because it was just so bad. There were a bunch of high school kids staying in the room next to me and they were being really loud and the guy at the front desk was extremely apologetic and unfortunately could not switch me to a new room but he did try to handle the situation as best as he could. I totally understand if a hotel is full and I appreciate the guy at the front desk for being as courteous and understanding as he was. They also have a nice restaurant in the lobby with plenty of seating. They have a nice "hydration station" by the front desk to fill up your water bottles, too. You do have to pay for parking (a little over $10 a day) but they have a nice garage that you can park in so your car is covered. I will DEFINITELY be coming back to this adorable hotel the next time I'm in Sarasota! read more

5 star experience!!!! I loved this hotel from check in to check out. I loved the modern touches and the green factor. The check in staff was super nice and even asked what we were visiting for and did everything to accommodate our needs. The room was quiet and comfortable. I loved the forest mural on the wall, it was very comforting to look at. The shower was very nice and the glass covering added a nice modern touch. There are signs in the hallway that say "quiet zone" and we did not hear a peep the entire stay. We did not try out the Bistro but saw several patrons who seemed to be enjoying it. Also, there is a $10.50 parking charge for the garage that is underground around the back of the hotel. This hotel is close to everything you need in Sarasota so don't miss out! read more

Cute boutiquey hotel in downtown Sarasota. I'm staying here for a work trip, and chose this hotel again based on cleanliness, location, and very friendly service. The staff have gone out of their way to accommodate me, for example: making very personalized recommendations and reservations, dropping me off there, allowing early check-in/late check-out, providing a clean and well-equipped conference room, and bringing me extra towels/blankets/shampoo promptly. This property evokes a Western Florida/Southern type of charm. Close - but not quite walking distance - to many shops, restaurants, and bars, this IHG property is positioned well, in between beach hotspots and downtown convenience. They're happy to provide bikes, directions, a map, or even a ride to the airport- just ask! The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the bathrooms are clean and quite big. It looks and feels new, and I highly recommend staying here if you're in the area. read more

Loved this quaint homey hotel in a very convenient location! The big plus for me was how sweet the staff was. I couldn't find the parking initially cause there was a garage that hid the back entrance to the hotel and the small parking lot. I called to ask for directions and the front desk staff guided me all the way. The lobby was kept clean and bright. There's a nice restaurant and mini store area. A big plus was the filtered water station by the mini waterfall. Very convenient for guests to fill their own bottles and eco friendly. We got a standard two queen room. It was spacious and very neat. I couldn't find a fridge in the room but there was a big storage dresser. The bathroom was very nice. I loved the shower. The shower head had great water pressure. They carried all Aveda products which is fantastic. I called for another set of toiletries so my mom could have her own and they brought us two more sets. Great customer service! I think I expected a little bit more considering the phenomenal reviews posted here and on Tripadvisor about this hotel. I'm not entirely disappointed, but not terribly impressed either. The hotel is clean and the staff friendly. I find the restaurant to be overpriced and mediocre. I am shocked that they don't offer free coffee in the lobby like EVERY OTHER hotel on the entire planet. The fitness room is average, but very clean. My room is clean and modern - although the bathroom had a bad smell of urine when I checked in. The exhaust fan cleared that out after a bit. I really like the big, spacious shower -- they could improve upon it by putting a Holiday Inn Express showerhead in there (you would think that ICH would at least demand that one of their premium brands have better fixtures than their bargain brand). The bed is comfortable and the air conditioning works well. Be aware that you can't leave the fan running all night long, so you may be awoken by the fan cycling on and off. The rooms feature a small refrigerator, but no microwave. There is also no washer/dryer available for guests in the hotel which is disappointing for travelers on a longer trip. read more

The hotel is fine, clean, pleasant, with friendly and helpful staff. Though it's a little overpriced (my 'special rate' was $171 with taxes) and perhaps trying to be something it's not, it still has a small, mom-and-pop feel. There's a very small pool in the back, near the strangely-designed entrance, but I didn't even go. The beach wasn't far at all, and it's spectacular, so I chose that instead! The staff was appropriately helpful, giving me change for the bus, printing out a bus schedule so I could get to the beach, and picking me up and taking me to the airport. Kathryn is right when she said the restaurant needs serious improvement. In fact, that's a huge understatement. My hamburger looked and tasted like it had been decommissioned from a 1980s Wendy's TV commercial, flash-frozen, and defrosted just before I ordered. And it was served on toast. The shock and disparity was the same as if you had, say, gone to Subway and received a tasty sandwich with delicious pesto and burrata on a Balthazar baguette. I really really loved this hotel! The decoration is so cute and relaxing. They even put a healing music on a CD player when I arrived my room. Pastel color door and walls. Pineapple design bed sheets and granite counter top bathroom and glass door shower booth. The only thing is that they did not have a fridge. Everything else is excellent! read more

Briefly: Friendly and accommodating staff, large and comfortable room with a TV, closet, coffee, mini fridge and desk. Fun atmosphere, spacious room and bathroom, no view. Decent price for the area. A short walk to the marina, The Ritz-Carlton where we had a wedding to attend, as well as some stores. A 10-15 minute walk to 'downtown' Sarasota. read more

Checked in Christmas Eve 2019, Brook (ironically my dogs name is Brooklyn) was new at the front desk and did an awesome job facilitating our check in and giving us a nice room for Brooklyn (our dog) to enjoy. We got a bag of treats and a roll of potty bags as we checked in. The room was very nice, bed was comfortable, it was very clean, the TV was working perfectly, the pool and hot tub were at the perfect temperature. We had coffee downstairs in lobby area (there is a bar there), and another new girl was in training, I could tell she was new, she did not know the electronic pay system well or how to operate the coffee machine too well....ooops, no big deal. Good news, we finally got the coffee, she did not charge us....but it did take a while to get it. We all laughed - and overall - we rate this experience high and worth the stay again in the future. Everyone was friendly. Maybe we will stay here when we come to the pineapple drop on New Year's Eve. read more

We were just popping in and out of Sarasota quickly and I found this place on Yelp and gave it a whirl. My husband and I were really impressed with how attractive the decor was at this hotel. It felt very modern and casual and Florida. Our room was gorgeous! Great decor, very spacious, and an amazing bathroom w/ a walk-in shower and A+ water pressure (so important to me). The TV was not a flat screen, but it was large and the picture quality was great so no complaints. The parking and internet were both free, yeah! I would recommend this place to adults and business travelers. This is not a place that caters to children, in fact we didn't see a single child within blocks of the hotel. There is a 24 hour gym and a tiny wading pool which is great for adults passing through, but nothing that would appeal to families on vacation. We booked ahead through their web site and were able to get the room for $129 + tax, which I think is a great bargain. The only downside and reason why this is 4 star instead of 5 star is the food and drink. The bar is extremely small and doesn't have much selection. And the food didn't look appealing, so we passed on that altogether. But there are plenty of restaurant, bar, and delivery options available in the area. We definitely plan on staying at this hotel again. The price is good, the room is great, and the location is convenient and close to downtown. read more

Our first visit to Sarasota and we were very pleased with our stay at Indigo. This cute little hotel is only two years old. The décor is fresh and the hot and cold jacuzzis are clean and open to the night sky. Service is excellent and so is the breakfast buffet. We would come again and again. read more

Nice accommodations. We happened to visit during COVID and the restaurant and bar were closed. I would suggest they update their hot and cold mini spa pools along with their entire outside patio. read more

Nice rooms. Very comfortable. The air conditioning in the room needs some work. It's either running too much or not at all. But my biggest disappointment is that in this Covid19 era, not one employee is wearing a face mask. And at a time when this virus is spiking in Florida, this seems very disrespectful of their guests. read more
