I have extremely sensitive teeth that usually required injections before they could be cleaned. But Collette actually had plastic tools for sensitive teeth. This was the first cleaning in 15 years that I did without numbing! Very social office, felt like I had been a client for years. Dr. Pendleton was very thorough, pointed out a few "trouble spots" that my CA dentist has had a watch on for years, and he agreed to keep watching them instead of pressure to get "extra" work done. This is a small independant office that I would highly recommend over the corporate practices.

Happily, his office takes both of our insurances. We were able to get back-to-back check-ups recently. Dr. Vargo took us each back for X-rays, exams and consultations. He explained what he was doing and was easy to talk to. He asked us about any dental issues we had and explained how he is a bit more laid back than perhaps other dentists, in that he only drills and fills if he is sure it's a cavity. He pointed to a couple of stains on my molars that others might interpret as cavities, but by scraping them with a dental pick, he could see these weren't cavities. I appreciate that he won't put me through the pain of fillings for no reason. My husband did have a cavity, though. He was able to get a return visit scheduled for the filling within about a week. We were able to each also schedule cleanings. I've already been back for mine. These slots do seem to fill up fast, though, so I'd recommend scheduling in advance. The desk clerk was very positive and friendly. And the location inside MidCity Mall makes it very convenient. You can even go grocery shopping afterward at ValuMarket if in need. Dr. Vargo also mentioned that his office has been open for close to 30 years. It's been WAY too long since I was last at a dentist -- like so long that I'm embarrassed by it -- so I'm happy that I now have a new dental home.

I remember when I moved to Chicago and tried to find someone else up there. They tried to claim I had 22 cavities. I took the image to Rakutt, and they told me that there were places that tried to take advantage of bright-eyed, naive, people. Lesson learned. He told me I had no cavities and to be careful. I traveled from Chicago to see him. I couldn't trust anyone else. I was one of his first patients he got to put braces on. If my memory serves me correctly, when I first went to him as a wee pre-teen, he did not have the necessary certification to do braces. But he was studying to be able to. Voila! He finished, put some braces on me, and straight teeth are now had. Slightly adjusted as time goes on, but still relatively straight. I love the people that work there. Carlotta, the front of office, always asked about my family and me. She is always smiling and is just a calming presence. I hope he never retires, but I feel the day approaching. Till then, I will keep coming to hear his soothing and calm voice tell me, "Well, everything looks great!!"

He used a numbing swab on my gums first then he inserted the numbing needle. I have been to some dental practices where they just stick and that can be uncomfortable. I was fully expecting a root canal as this was a tooth that had a broken filling. He gently cleaned out the decay no pain no issues at all then promptly filled the tooth again. Very simple straight to the point friendly. I would highly recommend him again. His office is very small but very comfortable. Dr Vargo truly cares about whet he is doing. He did not over explain and lecture. He treated me with respect but left no questions unanswered a good balance.

He cares so much that he gives his personal number to patients when the office is closed and over holidays, in case of dental emergencies. His office staff are also gems. I've known them for years, but they take such effort to learn new patients' names and are truly interested in your needs. They all work very hard to accommodate patients especially when you are in pain or have an emergency situation. Dentistry can be painful and it can often be expensive which is why I value my doctor and his staff. They soften both blows with their helpfulness and warmth. I'll be very sad the day that Dr. Nunnally decides to retire. Until then, I'll appreciate his practice for the rare jewel that it is, a health professional that treats every patient like a neighbor not a number.

This was our third or fourth opinion on this procedure -- we've talked to real oral surgeons, we know what's normal, and we had high hopes based on the promises made over the phone. When scheduling, we were told the entire office would be "reserved just for us," that all staff would be focused solely on our appointment, and that because their surgeons are "so busy," we needed to put down an $89 deposit to secure the spot -- even though they advertise a free consult. That alone felt off, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt. When we arrived, they checked us in and then vanished. After 30 minutes, they took my partner back for a quick scan, then immediately put him back in the waiting room. We waited another 45 minutes with zero communication. Eventually someone wandered by and told us we "might want to reschedule" because someone ahead of us was taking longer than expected -- which makes absolutely no sense if the entire office was supposedly dedicated to us and no one else. The story completely contradicts what we were told. We were also told the $89 deposit would be refunded immediately as long as we showed up. It's been over two weeks, and nothing has been refunded. I've called twice and keep getting vague excuses and no action. At this point, it feels intentional. The whole operation reads like a sales funnel dressed up as a medical practice. They push "24‑hour dental implants," which any legitimate oral surgeon will tell you is unsafe, unrealistic, and carries a high risk of implant failure. The entire setup feels predatory -- like they're targeting people in vulnerable situations with big promises, pressure tactics, and zero follow‑through. It gave the same energy as those pharmaceutical reps who prey on people who desperately need treatment. We walked out and immediately found a reputable practice elsewhere. It's incredibly disappointing because the phone pitch made it sound like we'd receive five‑star, concierge‑level care, and what we actually got was a complete waste of time, money, and trust. Between the misleading advertising, the contradictory explanations, the lack of professionalism, and the still‑unreturned deposit, this is absolutely a situation that deserves oversight from people outside the practice.
